Missing Network Channel

Has anyone heard about why the Sci Fi Channel was taken off the Network listing in the TV Shows area of ITMS? Let me know if anyone has heard or read anything.

First, I didn't know that the Sci Fi Channel was owned by NBC (and thank you for that info). I know that supposedly all of NBC's shows were to be taken off and no further seasons and episodes were to be on the ITMS. If I'm suppose to believe that to be true then why was Stargate Atlantis Season 4 even added. Let alone to let continue until episode 9. Can you answer that question for me? Also by the way you may not be able to click a Sci Fi Channel link but you sure as **** can find the shows in the Science Fiction & Fantasy genre category.

Never had anything before crash the whole system since OS8 or so.
Back up your system, without deleting older backups - just in case; that looks like a possible system trouble.
Also they some have been in Aperture for a while and they used to be OK.
Do the videos play in QuickTime Player or any other software, if you export or reveal the originals?
Can you play your videos, when signed into another user account?

  • How can I replace missing network prefspane in 10.5.8?

Is there a way to replace a missing Network PrefPane on a G5 Mac Pro running 10.5.8?
I Bought this machine to use as a movie streaming machine via Apple TV. But I did not receive the original installation discs.
DOwnloaded the 10.5.8 upgrade but it does not remedy the problem.
IT would be hard for me to justify the 100+ cost of new Leopard disks, so I'm hopeful there's another solution.

After backing up the suspect hard drive, I ran Disk Repair on it and found no problems. Then ran Disk Warrior again and no problems. It is a Hitachi, btw.
As for the PrefPane issue: Repairing disk permissions on the main volume and on the partition that holds the system did not make any difference.
Reinstalled the 10.5.8 upgrade, performed safe start and then repaired permissions again. Still getting a blank PrefPane for network.
Next step is to try and trash the System Configuration plist and Network Interfaces plist.

  • The Strange Case of the Missing Network Icon

Can anyone help my buddy Tom - who is running a G4 iBook with OS X Panther? He is unable to get onto his wireless network and here is the problem in his own words:
"Had a moment to muck about in the iBook drive, following data crumbs from the all-pervasive Network software. Apparently, all that spinning of the drive over regions containing bits and bytes of the application managed to cobble together enough of Network to launch an e-mail, which I immediately determined had to go to you. This is strictly a spit-and-string enterprise, similar to a baling wire and soup can exhaust system fix, and likely the only e-mail I'll get off until I complete an entire system restore. Think of it as a faulty telephone connection - you can hear me, but I can't hear you. So, don't bother to respond, as your e-mail will probably languish in my Inbox for the time it takes me to resurrect OS X.
What brought me to this point is my reasoning Network isn't a stand-alone application like a word processor, but rather a "network" (clever, eh?) piece of software with files strewn through other software so they can access various aspects of it. For example, World Book Encyclopedia accomplishes a software update without launching Safari; connecting to its mother ship via but another piece of Network that happens to reside within the program. I guess this approach is what put the "i" in iBook, and it seems to work pretty well...until moments like this. Perhaps Steve Jobs outsourced to Hansel and Gretel to create a new marketing twist.
Anyway, I've talked this all up with a number of people, and the universal response seems to be; "Huh? I've never heard such a thing.". I even managed to mightily confuse Dave and he's got an awful lot of Mac expertise. But the real kicker, when explaining how I reasoned it all out, is when I mention the key to my understanding was when I noticed the missing Network icon. That's when their eyes glaze over and it's apparent they can't quite wrap their brain around the idea. I've deduced how to cajole the Finder to reveal this Archimedean moment, and included a pair of attachments so you, too, can share in my AHA!! revelation. Running this all past Dave had him agreeing I seem to have a handle on it, but the sheer complexity of all those .exec files squirreled here, there, and everywhere still had him scratching his head.
Interestingly, I have to coerce the Finder to display the icon example; you can't simply click it into existence. I do it by plugging in a travel drive, opening same, then ejecting it. The Finder then defaults to what you see (the word Network with no icon).
Speaking of attachments, I was so tempted to wade through all 70 (70!!) e-mails in my inbox, but was fearful my MacGyvered patch would fail before getting this off to you.
Time to fade back into the black hole from whence I came. When I close Safari it'll relinquish its tenuous grasp on the Network .exec file it's hacked to."
Any ideas on what's wrong and how it can be fixed? I'll see that they get passed on to Tom.
    G4 Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   iMac

Before the mid-1980s, networking might have been implemented with a lot of goofy little routines (.exec's if you must) calling one another. About that time the CCITT (an international telecommunications standards committee made up of Academic and Industrial representatives) did a lot of work abstracting and then standardizing the functions that various parts of a network perform.
The CCITT refined the notion of a Layered Network Architecture and specified the types of activities performed in each layer. Shortly thereafter Apple implemented Open Transport and delivered it into the marketplace in System 7.5.3.
Apple networking has been very well-behaved and under control since then. It does not tend to "get lost" or "lose track of things". It really is very good. With only a few limitations, you can connect Macs running 7.5.3 through 10.3.9 and have File Sharing work without regard to what versions are talking to each other.

  • Using InDesign CS5.5 and am missing SMD Channels Model.sdk.IndesignPlugin

I am a designer and I am proofing the magazine a printer sent back to me and I can't open his file because it says I am missing SMD Channels Model.sdk.IndesignPlugin and strongly advises me not to open it.
Is there a way to download this plugin or have the printer send an IDML file instead?

Ask in the ID forum. On a general note, though, warnings about missing plug-ins mean that the file was created and saved in a newer version of the program and thus cannot be opened. You will have to work out that part or indeed use IDML.

  • OVM 3.1.1   how to refresh missing network configuration

    hi,
    OVM Server hardware:HP BL490c blades.
    o/s: OEL5.6
    OVM version: 3.1.1
    chain of events:-
1)virtual connect issue led to temporary loss of some networking, now restored
2)interrogating OEL5.6 shows all networking present
    3) interrogating OVM console shows missing network config in Servers & VMs, on ethernet ports drop down.
Q: how can i refresh/re-add the missing ethernet ports & bonds back into OVM?

I think you're confused. Isn't your OEL a VM guest? Virtual nics are different from actual physical nics you see at the VM Server level.

  • WLST script to create network channel

    Hi,
I was not able to find a sample WLST script to configure network channels on the Weblogic server. Could somebody provide pointers?
    Himadri

    Hello,
hopefully you have already got answer to your question from some other source, but here's any way how I update DbAdapter configuration.
I generate deployment plan for DbAdapter in development time by admin console like you have done.
Copy the deployment plan to production environment, then use wlst or weblogic.Deployer to update adapter:
    source <domain location>/bin/setDomainEnv.sh
    java weblogic.Deployer -adminurl t3://<admin-url>:<admin server port> -user <admin user> -password <password> -update -name DbAdapter -plan <db plan location>/DBPlan.xml
This way I can do my production environment deployment script based, no need to use GUI.
It's also possible to use wlst instead of weblogic.Deployer, but haven't tried that yet.
    Hope this was helpful.

  • Administration port - network channel for admin traffic

I am trying to configure a separate channel for Administration traffic on weblogic. I followed the oracle docos and configured the SSL, domain wide admin port, server listen address, ‘admin’ channel.
The issue is admin traffic in not happening through the newly created channel.
L2 network is not getting used. I can’t see any activity in the monitoring tab of new Channel. Also the netstat is showing that the port 9101/9102 is getting used on the 192.168.100.218 and not on 10.254.252.849.
I also tried by setting up the newly created channel weight as 51, but no luck.
Is JMX connectivity related to admin channel?
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi
For first question the answer is no. With the administration port, you enable the SSL between the admin server and Node manager-managed Servers. You can still use the web console.
For teh second question, you can use ANT or can use the WLS Scripting ..you can get more details in dev2dev.bea.com

  • Missing Audio Channel, X

Hi Folks, having some trouble with my x-fi extreme gamer.
I cant get any sound out of my front right speaker, every other channel seems fine but that one is dead. I've tried it with a set of 5. speakers and also with a set of Medusa 5. headphones through an amplifier, always missing front right channel.
I have tried using several sets of cable, I've uninstalled the drivers, used Drivercleaner pro, reinstalled the drivers but no joy. I've had the case open, taken out the card, cleaned the card and pci slot with compressed air and reseated it. Nothing seems to enable that missing channel. Any advice would be appreciated.

Same problem, with my X-Fi gamer, and Logitech 5. speakers since a recent patch, right speaker intermintantly goes on and off in the middle of gaming and watching videos/music. It is not a wiring issue/problem with speakers, and not a mixer issue. Other than that no clue was to what it could be other that a recent change to drivers. • Roaming Network - Channel Question

I have an Airport Express and an Airport Extreme which I have set up for roaming, so that no matter where I am in my house I am getting coverage from at least one of them.
Is it best to have the two base stations on the same channel or on different ones? I have heard conflicting suggestions.
At the moment I have the Extreme on channel 6 and the Express on channel 11.
    Thanks in advance,
    David

If you are using WDS to connect the 2 wirelessly, they must be set to the same channel.
If they are connected via Ethernet to extend the network, they should use channels that are 3 or more apart to reduce interference.

  • 5.1 audio is missing one channel and other stories

Ok, I started another post earlier about this problem, but I thought I'd explain it a different way.
Here's my problem.  I go into the MSI Sound Manager and go to the speaker test tab.  I click on every speaker and everyone of them works except the REAR RIGHT speaker.  No sound comes out.  If I put it up to my ear, there's some static but no sound!  I tried every version of the Realtek driver under the sun as well as every BIOS update from 1.10 up to 1.9b2.
    Here's the second problem:
I RMAed the first board to Newegg and they sent me another one.  The second one did the same thing.  MSI suggested that I take the mobo out of the case because maybe it was a grounding issue.  I did that (had everything hooked up on a phonebook) and it didn't change anything.  So, instead of sending back this board too I figured I'd try a Sound card instead.  I picked up a turtle beach santa cruz card, disabled the onboard sound and installed this board.  On that board, The front and rear channels work but nothing comes out of the center.  Am I just so lucky that 3 pieces of sound hardware don't work for me?
All I want is 5.1 sound!
    Here's my computer
    500W Power Supply:  +3.3V 28A, +5V 50A, +12V 18A, -5V 10A, -12V 1A, +5VSB 2.5A
    AMD Athlon 3200+

    eVGA GeForce 6800 GT
    NEC DVD Burner
    Optowrite CD Burner
    250GB IDE WD Hard Drive
    Samsung Floppy

microsofts has a sound test program that will test 5.1 channels, and says right front left rear, etc. so if your still missing sounds after two boards, i would examine the jumpers , try both front and then rear jacks, then try the speakers on a different system , also look at speaker calibration and check speackers, physical knobs, fader balance etc..
also i just checked ebay and audigy2's can be had for 30$ or so, and may be worth investigating. are you in the us.
but i have a suspition that the problem is either the jack is not all the way in or speaker related, or a setting, as the chances of two boards with the same problem is slim but not impossible.
