Missing / No "Apple Loops Index" Folder of TXT Files

I've been having a weird issue for a while now, even after doing a clean install of Yosemite again. It seems I've never had an Apple Loops Index folder in my Macbook's Library, and even when I make one from scratch in the proper location and run a loops re-index from both LPX and GarageBand, no .txt index files are made. I've never seen the folder or files before. The reason why I'm asking about this is because I've had some issues with missing Apple Loops folders that I definitely have in my HD library, but they won't show up. Many support forums advised trashing the Apple Loops Index text files and re-indexing, but I have no way of finding this folder. Has anyone experienced this or read any similar issue reports?
Thanks!

Hello,
Loops reside in a few files.
/Library/Audio/Apple Loops
~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops (if you installed any thiord party guys)
The index files are here:
/Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index
~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index
To move the loops to an external drive:
1. Move all of the loops from the Apple Loops folders above and move them to the external drive.
2. Delete all of the Index files.
3. Use the Loop Browser to reindex the loops from the new drive.
Be sure to drag the loops as individual folders (in other words if you store them in a folder called loops and then have groups of loops under that) if you don't, you will have one large group instead of several smaller ones. It makes it easier to find what you want.

  • Apple loop index is empty folder!!! Can not find loop in logic browser because they just no longer exist on my hard drive, what would be the new appropriate step to take?

Apple loop index folder is empty from the hard drive, which may explain why i can not find loop in my logic pro browser, just sort of grey in disaabled format. what would be the next appropriate steps to take??? I do have an external back up disk.

The IDE interface that the iBook and your desktop use are the same, just a different plug size. So with the rite adapter you could put the iBooks drive in your desktop, you could even boot off it too.
If you want to install the laptops HD in your desktop this will do it for you. Or you can use the iBooks HD as an external hard drive with this

Please choose a valid instrument Library folder or quit and re-install GB
    Any solutions?

Is this a new installation of GarageBand or has it worked before on the same computer?
Or have you transferrred your GarageBand from a different computer?
The error message is saying, that your GarageBand installation is incomplete. There are essential foldrs missing in your system library.
Check, if indeed both folders are missing or if only the permissions are set incorrectly.
Your system library (the folder "System" directly on your system drive) should have the following folders inside the folder "Audio", and they need to be readable by the system and by administrators.
And in the folder /Library/Application Support there should be the Instrument Library.
If these folders do not exist (or no longer exist), restore them from your backup-  If your GarageBand version is a new installation, the application may not hve been downloaded or installed completely, then reinstall GarageBand.
What is your GarageBAnd version, and how did you install it originally?

  • Loop Browser - Removing files/folders not indexed in the Apple Loops Index

    Hi...
I experimented with dragging in a SFX folder to the Logic Pro Loop Browser window. It asked me if I wanted to copy files to the Apple Loops folder or reference the original files, and I selected reference the originasl files.
The SFX files were then listed under the OTHER area of the View menu.
Question... HOW do I remove these SFX files/folder from the OTHER view menu?
I have tried deleting all of the Apple Loop Index files and that did not work.
I have tried deleting the actual SFX files/folders, and after they disappear, but when I restore the SFX files/folders to their source location they reappear in the logic browser view menu.
Is there some where else Logic stores Loop Browser reference data which can be deleted to remove these OTHER files/folders from the Loop Browser view menu?
    Thanks

    Success...
    OK I found the solution.
    1) I deleted the SFX audio files from the referenced HDD source location.
    2) I opened Logic and re-index the Loop Browser.
    3) I quit Logic and copied the SFX files back to the HDD.
When I opened Logic this time, the SFX files/folders referenced under the OTHER menu were gone.
Because I have a huge production music & SFX library, the best way to audition these sources for use in a Logic project, is to audition in iTunes and then just drag whatever I need right from within itunes into the Logic project.
That keeps my Logic loop browser more manageable and focused on composing.

I get the error "Path does not exist: /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index
Without this directory you can not use the LoopBrowser. Please make sure this directory exists" when starting Garage Band. I also cannot use the onscreen keyboard, or musical typing in GarageBand. All other sounds work fine.
The only thing that changed since I last used GB was that I installed Leopard. (and that was a while ago, so I thought all was well and got rid of my last Tiger backup. )
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Looping a folder for pattern files

    Hello
Please help me with an answer.
I have a folder with more files with same structure generated by ERP.
    - Purchase_240520080600.txt
    - Purchase_240520080730.txt
    - Purchase_240520080843.txt
    etc
Is there a possible to loop into the folder for all files with a pattern and import them one by one into a target table?
    thanks
    Gabriel

    Hi,
Let me try to contribute. I build this kind of implementation some times.
I will describe the process in Windows OS and then you fit it in your OS if it is other then Windows.
    Pre-requisite:
    - all files has the same structure OR define a target table with just one varchar column (if you don't have records bigger then 4000 characters- Oracle)
    Process:
    1) create a ODI character variable (like v_FileName) last value type.
    2) At your previous file Datastore (model) define the resource name like:
    \your_tree\#v_FileName
    3) Create a new file datastore (eg: All_Files_Names) pointing to a file called, as suggestion, All_Files_Names.txt. This Datastore will have just one character column (eg: col_FileName) with a good length ( I use 500) and at "\your_tree\" directory.
    4) Create a procedure (eg: prc_GetFileNames) with one OS Command step and with the following command (Windows example):
    cmd /c dir c:\my_directory\*.* /b /a:-d > c:\my_directory\All_Files_Names.txt
This will give you a file with all files at the directory.
    5) create a new step at the procedure prc_GetFileNames, at source tab, drop the command copied, choose "File" Technology and choose your Logical Schema.
The command will be like "Select * from All_Files_Names ...", change the * for the column name used at the datastore All_Files_Names. It should be like "Select col_FileName from
All_Files_Names ...". Save it for now.
    6) Create a interface (eg: int_LoadData), that will load the data into table. Its source will be the datastore what has the variable at Resource Name and at Target the table
    that you wish to load.
    7) Create a package (eg: pck_Load_Data_Name_Var), drag and drop the ODI variable v_FileName (set it as "Set" kind and "First Step") and drag and drop the interface. Of course put
an OK line from Variable to Interface.
    8) Generate a scenario of the package
    9) Go back to the procedure and:
-- at Target Tab set the technology to "Sunopsis API" and put the command: OdiStarScen "-SCEN_NAME=PCK_LOAD_DATA_NAME_VAR" "-SCEN-VERSION=001" "-SYNC_MODE=1" "-
    v_FileName=#col_FileName"
    10) Create a new step at Sunopsis API technology using the odiFileDelet (odi MoveFile) command to delete the All_Files_Names.txt file.
    11) Execute the procedure and you should have all files loaded at the same target table.
All of this will allow you to start the same interface to so many existing files at a directory, it means 1 to N files.
I hope this process help you! Good luck!!!!

  • Parse contents of folder of txt files

I tried to do this in Automator, but whatever I did didn't work:
I have a folder with about 80 short text files (quotations, if you must know) and I wanted to make a spreadsheet or database where each cell/field was the contents of one of the text files.
Is there some way to accomplish this without individually opening each .txt file, copying the contents, and then pasting into the appropriate spreadsheet cell ?

    This may be stupidly trivial.
Assuming you want each quotation in a new row in the spreadsheet you can do this with a oneliner:
    cat *.txt > quotes.txt
This will combine the contents of all .txt files in the current directory into a new file called quotes.txt (use cd to get to the appropriate directory first). Once there you can open the quotes.txt file in your spreadsheet application. Violà:
    open -a Microsoft\ Excel quotes.txt

  • Trying to re-index apple loops. can't...

Ok, i've read the manual, done forum searches and ˆˆcan't seem to get the factory apple loops to show up in the browser.
i've tried drag the folder into the browser, and also tried highlighted and dragging the files themselves, but a dialog box flashes for a second and no loops get indexed there.
I've also tried dragging them into the soundtrack loop utility, where they then show up in the list. when i then opened logic, the loops were in the browser, but upon trying to play them, i was told that " the files couldn't be located, do i want to re-index the loops" i clicked yes. and they all disappeared. tried dragging them to the loop utility again. next time i opened the loop browser in logic. they weren't there still.
    can anyone help me out?
    thanks,
    rob

jord, i did also try moving individual files, and they just won't add to the index. the window saying it's indexing pops open for a split second and disappears. nothing gets indexed. it must be a problem with not having an index file in the apple loops index folder. i must have accidentally trashed it, but i would have imagined it would recreate one. someone even suggested trashing it.
I also tried re-installing garage band, and i checked the files, and they are read and write. I've also updated to 7.1.1. And these are the original apple loops which i can't get indexed. Strange.
I wonder, if someone emailed me an index file, maybe i could re-index then.
    any ideas, offers?

  • Re index Apple Loops

I moved my Apple Loops to an external hard drive because I was running out of space but when I went to open an Apple Loop it could not find it.
I tried continue but that couldnt find it so tried re index loops and now the loop browser has only a few loops I put in and most of the catagories are not highlighted for me to pick.
    any help welcome.
    1) can I have loops on a seperate drive?
    2) how do I get the loop Browser back to normal?
    thanks,

  • Loops index

I installed Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro but the loops do not appear in the loops browser in Logic. The search index.txt file is missing from the Apple Loops Index folder. How can I fix this problem?

found the solution, simply drag the folder onto the loops browser, that indexes the loops!

  • I can't rebuild my loop index!

Whilst using Garageband v4.1.2, I clicked on a loop to use it and and got a message saying that the loop couldn't be located and would I like to reindex the loop library. I clicked on Ok to reindex it, and then there were no loops at all in the library!!
So I've looked up an article on how to rebuild the index. I closed Garageband, deleted the existing search index files, reopened Garageband. Then located the folder with the loops on and dragged it over the loop library area in Garageband. Garageband responded with a message saying that the index was being rebuilt, but there's still nothing in there? Have repeated process a few times. I've noticed that no new search index files have appeared in the 'Apple Loops Index' folder.
Help! What am I doing wrong?!

How would I go about a reinstall of Garageband?
i think in this case i would want to delete all of GB's bits first:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#deletealltracesofgb
(Let the page FULLY load. The link to your answer is at the top of your screen)
    then reinstall:

  • Duplicates in Apple Loops

    Hi all..
I am using Drive Genius to find all duplcates in my apple loops folder in order to remove from my system.  My question is, after I delete the dupes can I just reindex or do I have to delete any other files except the dupes to avoid still having duplicates in my loop section in logic?
    Thanks

Remove the duplicate loops and remove the contents of the Apple Loop Index folder(s) in Library/Audio and in Users/"you"/Library/Audio.
    Then you can reindex.

  • Re indexing issues in Apple Loop Browser (LP 9.0.2 / OSX 10.6.1 / Digi 002r

I'm trying to re index my loop browser in LP9 / OSX10.6.1
Are you having the same problem?
After trashing the 'Apple Loop Index', I pull in a folder from an external drive and notice that previous folders added to my browser have gone, including Jam Packs.
Also, I can't find the 're-index' option within the loop browser search option (right click brings down a list but the re-index option isn't there)
Interested to see whet you find.

Yep, I also had issues, where indexing the LP8 way (dragging folders with loops from the Finder onto the Logic loop browser) just bluffed to work (I dropped the folder on the LB, a progress window appeared, things apparently got done, but then nothing, no new entries in the Loop Browser.
So it seems that it is a L9 problem, since our Macs' are different in every aspect (Me: PPC- you: Intel, me: Leopard- you: Snow Leopard).
I finally decided to put all my loops in their default install locations and reindex them from there:
    *Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple:*
Jam Pack 4 - Symphony Orchestra
    Jam Pack Voices
    Jam Pack World Music
    *Library/Audio/Apple Loops/iLife Sound Effects:*
    (13 folders)
    *Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops:*
(some folders with my own and 3rd party Loops)
    *Library/Application Support/Garageband/Apple Loops:*
    Apple Loops for Garageband
    Jam Pack 3- Rythm Section
for thorough reindexing, here are the steps:
    1. Quit Logic and/or any other app that uses Apple Loops.
    2. Go to all the locations I pointed out and trash all the index files from the *Apple Loops Index* folders. Also check the same locations in your Users/'you'/Library folder.
    3. Start Logic with a new empty project, open the loop browser window by hitting the o key. Now drag the folders mentioned above in bold onto your loop browser. Logic should now index them correctly, including the foldermenu !http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2743/4085966954bf4fc039d7o.png! in the loop browser.
