  • NVIDIA graphic driver install

Aight. I've got an Acer Aspire 5738G, with a Nvidia GF G105M graphic card.
I have a fresh install of archlinux (cause the kernel upgrade was lethal, so i had to go from scratch).
    Kernel is now 2.6.32.
I ve downloaded the Nvidia driver from their download section, and when i try to run the installer it says it cant find the kernel header in '/usr/src/linux-2.6.32-ARCH/include/linux/kernel.h' . Then i tried to find kernel.h with locate, and i found it in: '/usr/include/linux/kernel.h' .
I tried to run the installer one more time, with the --kernel-source-path option, but still the same: it says:
The kernel source path '/usr/include/linux/kernel.h' does not exist. eetc etc
    What do i do?

    wonder wrote:
the version that you are downloading is the same as the one from repo? you can try out nvidia-beta from aur.
i'm suggestion that rather than using your method betcause is better not to have files laying around that pacman doesn't have any clue about them.
like i side note, to build external modules you need kernel26-headers like is told in the last news from the front page.
Do you know how the nvidia driver (installed by nvidia installer) can be removed cleanly?

  • Nvidia Graphics driver

It says I have the latest driver installed, but I know it's not working correctly, if I update the xorg.conf file, X won't start.  I also notice when X starts, it says something about "unknown host".   Also, I noticed I can't really complete an installation with pacman since I can't accept the license agreement even if log out of X.  One other problem, If I try to get earlier nvidia drivers, it says I need the Kernel Source, but I'm running kernel 2.6.11.10
So basically, I 'm stuck.  I know part of the problem is that newer drivers do not support my NF2 GTS, but I'm having some real trouble trying to get and install older ones.  I'm trying to use the earliest X.run file on their site, but I'm wondering if I don't just go way back and try to build a package?

Here's the thing, though, pacman works fine for everything else, so I guess I need to build my own package???  If I try the earliest xxxxx.run file it just does the same thing.  Tries to tell me my kernel is tainted.
What's the best thing to do at this point?
    Log from running nvidia's installer:

    -> No matching precompiled kernel interface was found on the NVIDIA ftp site;
this means that the installer will need to compile a kernel interface for
       your kernel.

  • For nVIDIA graphics users

It seems like nVIDIA has released nVIDIA graphics driver for
    Solaris 10 !
    You can download from
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html
I've tried with nVIDIA GeForce 6600 and it works fine !

Interesting. Solaris 10 recognized my GeForce 5200
FX right off the DVD without the need for installing
additional drivers.Yes, but nVidia's driver is apparently able to use AGP bus cycles,
    and includes hardware OpenGL support.
Both features are missing in the opensource X.org version.

  • Qosmio G10-133: I am having random lockups - Graphic driver issue

    Hi
my machine screen goes blank at random and i get the below error message which suggests i need finally the latest graphic driver. Uninstall the Nividea driver from my machine which appeared to fix the problem but my graphics were reduced. I then reinstalled from the Toshiba site the graphic driver and i have the same problem.
    Please can you help?
Error caused by NVIDIA Graphics Driver: no specific solution found.
Thank you for submitting an error report.
    Problem description:
An unknown error occurred in NVIDIA Graphics Driver, created by NVIDIA Corporation.
    Recommendations:
NVIDIA Corporation is currently not aware of a specific solution for the problem that you reported. Below is a list of recommendations to take that may help prevent the problem from recurring.
    1. Download and install an updated NVIDIA Graphics Driver from one of the following locations:
    Microsoft Update
    NVIDIA Corporation
    2. If an updated driver is not available, check with your computer manufacturer.
    3. If you are running the latest version of NVIDIA Graphics Driver, please contact NVIDIA Corporation for your support options.
    Additional information:
If this problem continues to occur with the latest product updates for NVIDIA Graphics Driver we highly recommend you obtain assistance and troubleshooting information directly from NVIDIA Corporation.
If you are not familiar with NVIDIA Graphics Driver and you are questioning how the program was installed on your computer, it is possible that the program was installed with another program. If you do not know why NVIDIA Graphics Driver is running, many programs configure themselves to start automatically every time you turn on your computer.

    Hi
I agree with previous comment. We don?t know what did you done with your unit and why the display driver makes problems now. The fact is that you should use the display driver designed by notebook manufacturer and not from graphic card producer.
How to say now what you can do? Advice given by NVIDIA is correct. Try to start the unit in safe mode using F8 key at the start up. From device manager remove listed graphic device or even graphic driver software listed under software in control panel (if you can find something there). Restart the unit and when WXP is loaded try to install Toshiba designed driver again.

  • How do I update my Nvidia graphics drivers on Bootcamp using Windows 8.1

    Hey all,
I have been running bootcamp with my MacBook Pro with retina display, mid 2013 model for quite some time, but only recently did the windows 8.1 update from windows 8. I have been prompted by some games, namely Fifa 15, to update to the latest Nvidia graphics driver. Now, i know that just downloading the driver from the website is bad as bootcamp needs to run on the drivers anyway, so how do I update these drivers? and what is the latest set of apple support drivers for my model, because I keep seeing different ones everywhere. also i would rather not wait for an update on the part of apple support drivers.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks,
    Sam

Please see Huge lag in games on bootcamp as a reference. The linked thread is for a GT750m.
Since there are no mid-2013 Retina models (as per Apple - Support - Technical Specifications), assuming this is your Mac - MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) - Technical Specifications - the same should work for you.

  • T520 with Optimus - Can't install Intel Graphics Driver in XP

    Hello,
I have T520 with Optimus FHD screen.
I have XP installed in my Ultrabay HDD.
I understand that XP doesn't support Optimus and that I must go to BIOS and choose either Discrete or Integrated.
OPTION 1 (Discrete Only)  Which someone what works:
    - So, when I have Discrete enabled in BIOS - and installed Nvidia Drivers in XP - everything works fine, expcept on 90% initial boot ups after going from Win 7 to XP (F12 Options) -  I assume the NVIDIA driver doesn't get initially recognised and the XP boots up in non native resolution.
    - It's only after I restart again and use (F12 again) to pick Ultrabay with XP, the Nvidia gets properly loaded. But this time, there is a prolong delay (60 to 90 seconds) of black screen after the WIndows XP Welcome screen before the desktop appears.
OPTION 2 (Intgrated Display Only) - Of couse, this after uninstalling NVIDIA Graphic Driver in XP
    - In BIOS, Integrated Graphic in choosen.
    - XP boots up in basic resolution.
    - I download (From Lenovo T520 Driver Page) - Intel Integrated Driver for Win XP 32.
    - When I try to install it, it says "The computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"
    - BTW, I do have all the WIndows Updates including NET 3.0 and higher
    - So then, I try to forcibly installed through Device Manager and Having DISK  - but I get Error message.
    - But somehow, it works after.
One guess I have and that confuses me is the Otimus Graphic Card - where maybe it can only work with either Optimus Drivers in Windows 7 or Nvidia Drivers in Windows XP. And that the Integrated Intel HD Graphic Drivers in for XP on Lenovo website are only meant for T520 with Intel Graphics ??!!
Or can optimus be used with intergrated intel drivers only in the XP?
If anyone can shed a small light, I would be grateful.
    Thanks You
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Glad to know everything is working for you.
You shouldn't need the discrete to watch flash videos, the Intel integrated should be able to handle that on its own.
The nVidia card shouldn't be running at all when the machine is in integrated . In fact it doesn't even run in Optimus except when it is actively being used. nVidia proved this when it was first demoing the technology. nVidia removed the nVidia chip from the motherboard of an active system that was running in Optimus using only the integrated graphics, and the computer kept running without issue and the power consumption was the same with and without the chip on the board.
If you really wanted FireFox to always run with the nVidia card (again, I don't know why you would want this) you can change the settings in the nVidia control panel to force FireFox to run with discrete.

  • MacBook Air/nvidia GeForce9400M/driver issue  font installation fails on xp

xp sp3 on a MacBook Air (bought 04-2009, 2x 1,86 GHz, 128 GB SSD) fails to install otf type fonts with an error message. Also Adobe Photoshop 10 (CS3) will crash upon trying to insert writing into a jpeg, tif, psd etc.
Source of problem: The nvidia graphic driver needs some more memory allocation than xp expects.
Remedy: open the registry editor (START>RUN>regedit)
    navigate to the following key:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement
    add a new REG_DWORD Value
change the name of the value to
    SessionImageSize
    set its value (decimal) to
    20
    reboot
-- this problem would only seem to affect xp sp3 systems with nvidia graphics
-- be sure to backup your registry before changing it and
be sure to know what you are doing before editing the registry
Apparently this problem has been recognized by nvidia and implemented in their latest driver release. This is not suited, however, for Apple products, since they have further customized the nvidia driver (and apparently NOT included this fix!).
The fix will resolve the problems mentioned above with installing otf type fonts and inserting writing into pics in photoshop. Photoshop, however, continues to crash upon exiting, an issue not yet resolved.

    Hi and welocme to Discussions,
use the SafeBoot options of XP as described here http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B315222&x=10&y=11
Use Safe Mode (=Minimal) to startup XP with a minimal set of drivers and from there uninstall the not-working Nvidia drivers.
The reinstall the drivers that worked.
You might wanna tryout if 'Last Known Good Configuration' works.

  • U530 not recognizing Nvidia graphics

I noticed that my laptop wasn't recognizing the graphics card (Nvidia GT 730M) after trying to play fallout 3. The game was laggy, and when I went to options to choose the dedicated graphics, it didn't appear as an option. I tried to access the nvidia control panel, but get an error message: "NVidia display settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an Nvidia GPU."
The driver is up to date and the device shows up and is enabled in device manager. The integrated graphics card is also enabled and up to date.  I ran a hardware check with lenovo solution center and the check failed for the GPU, but not the integrated GPU.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hi biochem_matt,
If you have the Intel® HD Graphics 4400 + Nvidia GT730M  in the Device Manager > Display Adapters then your system uses Optimus Technology to automatically switch between the Intel GPU (for power saving) and Nvida GPU (for maximum performance).
The low FPS while gaming and the  "NVidia display settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an Nvidia GPU" error might mean that the Intel and Nvidia drivers are not in sync causing Optimus not to work or the Nvidia GPU itself is showing signs of failure.
    Things that you can try:
    1. Follow this guide on how to disable automatic driver installation then navigate to the Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features and uninstall both the Intel and Nvidia Video Drivers and reboot.
Alternatively, you can also use DUD (Display Driver Uninstaller) and select Clean and Restart.
    2. Install the Intel Graphics Driver first from the D:\Drivers folder or from the U530 drivers page then reboot. When finished, install the Nvidia Graphics driver and observe the game.
    3. If the above steps doesn't work, backup important files, shutdown the machine and press the OneKey Recovery button to restore the unit to factory settings and observe (note that this will wipe all data on the OS partition).
