Two days ago suddenly could not send email in Mac Mail. ISP is Verizon DSL.
Got various error messages, all said "The server response was: 5.7.1" In addition, some error messages said "Missing or literal domains not allowed." Others said "Authentication required." Others said "the server determined this email contains spam." (Could not have been a spam problem because I tried to send a message with the subject "test" and the content "hello.")
Can receive email fine in Mac Mail. Can send and receive email fine using the netmail.verizon.net web page. Could receive and send email fine using Mac Mail on my other computer.
After several hours on the phone, with various resettings of ports and passwords, etc., Verizon admitted they did not know how to solve the problem, so they then blamed Apple.
This is a Mac Mini PPC, OS 10.3.9.
This is strange. Searching these forums found many people with similar problems over the last 2 years, in each case it popped up suddenly, in each case the ISP could not solve the problem, in each case problem was apparently never solved.

re: not understanding instructions, it sounds like you have not enabled the Menu Bar.
In Thunderbird you will find life much easier when seeing all the toolbars.
Click on the menu icon - it has 3 bars.
Hover the mouse pointer over 'Options'
a new drop down appears, select 'Menu Bar'.
then you will see the Menu Bar above the tabs
It shows: 'File, Edit, View, Go, Message, Tools, Help.'

I looked at the information you provided in the other question.
Server name, port, authentication and connection security look ok.
What do you have in the 'User Name' ?
Do you have the full email address or just the first part before the @ ?
The other thing to check is the firewall settings in the Actiontec Router.
But this is not really a forum for dealing with your router.
you should find the model number somewhere on your Actiontec router.
There are different models, but sometimes the settings can be very similar.
you should be able to do a google search for your model.

Two weeks ago I started getting this error message when mail executed a routine send/receive cycle: 5.7.1 Missing or literal domain not allowed. I have Verizon for ISP. How is this corrected.

A quick search for this error message reveals numerous other users on both Windows and Macs have this same problem with Verizon, yet no-one appears to have found any kind of resolution.
If you contact Verizon maybe they will be able to sort it out for you - in which case please post the answer here. If Verizon can't sort this out then maybe you need to change ISP?

Find Missing files command does not allow me to navigate to backup drive

I have just bought a MacBook Pro and am moving my catalog an images from a PC. I have read/watched many videos on how to do this. I have copied all images out to a hard drive along with the Catalog file. I downloaded Lightbook 4 to Macbook and have opened my catalog file. All my tags and folder structure are shown with ?marks. When I highlight the My Picture folder and click "find missing photos", I don't get a Navigate window to choose hard drive folder of the same name. Instead, I see it start task, scan and complete task and all the photos now show in the Missing Photos section of the Catalog. I never get a Navigate window. It just keeps starting task and then saying complete. So the images are blank with ? marks on all files.
Help! I bought the Macbook Pro to do my photography and instead I've spend a day watching videos showing the Navigate window which I never get when I do "find missing photos". What's going wrong?

Getting "Origin is not allowed" When Trying to Invoke RESTful Service from Another Domain

I am having problems trying to invoke my RESTful web service from a different domain. I'm well aware of the normal restrictions of cross-site / cross-domain scripting but in Oracle documentation it says that all origins are allowed by default when creating a RESTful service without using authentication.
I have created a very simple service and am trying to invoke it using jQuery.Ajax calls from a different domain and I am getting XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://address_to_my_web_service. Origin http://calling_from_address is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.
I understand that using JSONP instead of JSON is actually the best practice around cross-site scripting but it appears as though APEX does not support JSONP because with JSONP, there are URI parameters added to the base request (callback).
I am stuck and would greatly appreciate any help.
I'm starting to wonder if this could be a bug because Oracle documentation says all origins should be allowed when using a service that does not require authentication. I also tried to force the origin to be allowed by typing it in and also using the wildcard '*' and it still did not work.

EDIT: It is now working after adding a URI prefix to my web service module.

The SSL handshake works differently to a browser as it is making the connections automatically.
The browser asks every time if you want to trust an expired certificate, and it also recommends not to. Its impractical to manually check every service call to say do you trust the certificate so the functionality doesn't exist. I doubt any integration product does this. Therefore there isn't a option to ignore the certificate if it has expired.
This makes sence as the certificate is untrustworthy. The whole idea around SSL is trusting the site you are communicating with, all parties need to be trusted. This stops hackers from replicating their site and intercepting data.
If the administrator of the remote site is not willing to renew the certificate, are they really interested in SSL. I suggest they expose a non SSL service.

I understand that there's something wrong with the TOC file (.ncx), but I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Every section of the TOC is labeled, so not sure why the navLabel issue is happenening.

Similar issues looks like. Are you using a template other than those in iBooks Author? That's what I did, and that was definitely part of the issue.
After digging through .ibooks code for hours and still not seeing the problem, I decided to reach out to one of the Apple epub conversion affiliates in iTunes Connect. They said they could repair the file without a problem, started working on it, only to come back a week later and say they couldn't work on .ibooks or .iba files yet.
So, in complete frustration, I decided to transfer my content page by page from the blank template I downloaded from a vendor online to one of the "textbook" templates in IBA. This was a long process as I had to unlock and clear out the formatting of the template. But, once that was done and content was transferred over, all was good. I submitted/delivered the same content and preview book within the new template and it went right through the first time (all metadata was exactly the same as well).
Now, the iBookstore approval waiting process begins!

Cannot install updates - sys admin control does not allow - pc is no longer on the domain

When I try to run Windows update, it is not allowed due to system administrator is in control. The pc was on a domain, but is no longer.
I changed the registry keys and local security policy entries per multiple searches on the web.

You meant your PC had add into domain, but left afterwards, isn't it? It would be better to provide a screenshot for your error message.
How about create a new user account to make a test? This problem probably caused by Windows left domain imperfect.
In addition, you can also run gpresult /z >policy.txt command to check your current Policy settings if there is any policy disable Windows update.

Have you verified that your Windows 8.1 is a Pro or Enterprise edition? The Basic edition cannot join a domain.

You know that you lost the layers when you saved it as a jpeg, right? But you're saying you can't add layers to the jpeg now when it's open in the editor? Go to Image>mode and be sure it's RGB, for starters. Are all the commands in the Layer menu grayed out?

Well, with a PPC Mac you can upgrade as far as Firefox 3.6.19 if you upgrade from Tiger OSX 10.3.9 to Leopard OSX 10.5, but Firefox doesn't support PPC architecture in the latest Firefox 4, 5, and 6.0 versions.

We have a group account that we use for support. We have used the Delegated Administrator to limit which domains can send to the list by setting "Allowed Domains:" to the form "*.our.domain" on that list.
We are now getting thousands of the spam to "postmaster" saying that saying the message could not be delivered because "Reason: you are not allowed to use this list:". We have successfully kept a lot of spam from going to that group mailing list, but we as postmasters would like to not receive all those messages telling spammers that they can't send to the list. Is there a way to turn off those "not allowed to use this list" messages to postmaster for the group list?

1. The postmaster address is getting a copy of the bounce emails.
2. The mailing list is not rejecting the email at the SMTP level, rather it is creating a DSN bounce email.
Whether the postmaster gets a copy of bounce emails is controlled by the various warnpost, sendpost etc. imta.cnf channel configuration parameters. More information on turning these off here:

For the second issue, if a mailing list has the "maildeferprocessing" attribute set to "yes" then the email will be accepted (without checking the allowed/disallowed recipients) and processed 'offline'. If the email is rejected during this processing then a bounce email is created.
As of Messaging Server 6.3 you can set mailDeferProcessing to "After_Auth" to cause group validation to be done immediately but group expansion to be deferred.
Setting mailDeferProcess to "no" causes the group expansion and validation to be performed before the email is accepted. The downside to this is that for a large mailing list that take a long time to expand, the email client could time out and the email not accepted.

Every since I got my new computer, running windows 7, firefox will not allow me to see my own domains. If I unplug Netgar and plug directly into the Wild Blue modem, I can see them with IE or Chrome - but still not with Firefox.
My Old computer, running XP can see my domains via the Netgear router. Computers running Vista cannot

Thanks for the reply. I tried those things with no result. Then I followed the link you sent and found something that MIGHT be the answer if I can find someone to show me how to "send a ping" and "define the subnetmask."
I have no idea what a subnetmask is, let alone how to define it!
But I do feel that the problem has some connection to the router. My old computer has one IP address, while the 3 that won't work all share a different one.
It would really help if I spoke "compuetreze," but I don't.

The contact us widget does not allow me to use a .build domain. I am in the architecture and construction industry and use a .build domain for our website and emails. I hope this will be fixed soon.
