"Missing or offline titles, effects or generators" mystery

Suddenly, I have that little yellow warning triangle on my event name and when I go to export, I get this "missing or offline titles, effects or generators." Nothing in the time line or in the bin has a yellow triangle beside it. Only yellow triangle is on the event in the list under the library. How can I fix this? It's annoying!! It just started happening today on a project I have been working on for some time. Only change is having imported a couple of clips. Nothing else. Those new clips do not have triangles on them.

If you're using FCPX 10.0.6 -- Apple has decided to remove a whole bunch of Filter Image Units and Generator Image Units from Motion (and the "engine" in built into FCPX.) I'm sure a lot of developers used them as there were some really cool filters in there.
These effects that formerly used these IUs will fail in FCPX. Please let me know if any of them are *mine*! ( "sight-creations" or channel : fxmah on youtube.)

I get this message (Missing of offline titles, effects or generators) when generating output from a project that has a Motion effect that I downloaded from the interwebs. It works just fine in my timeline, but I get this warning when I want to generate output. I can see the effect in the effects browser.

How do you find missing titles, effects, and generators in final cut pro x?

Actually, that's only one of two questions...

When I attempt to export a movie, uncompressed, not through Compressor and not sharing to an Apple device, I get an error saying my Project has "missing or offline titles, effects, or generators."
There is a little yellow warning triangle next to the project name.
But there are no little yellow warning triangles next to anything in my libraries, and everything plays through in the Timeline.
Before exporting, how can I identify the supposedly missing elements???

I recently added a new plugin (mObject) and was experimenting with it. I decided to create a "temporary" library on my root drive since it's the fastest in my setup. I prefer to have major files like the library at the top level of my drives, and for the internal drive, that's outside my User folder. That's when all the trouble started. I would manually start a render and FCPX would not stop... would not completely render the clip... I would get "dashed" orange render lines over the clip. The only way to stop the rendering was to add something new to the storyline (that includes going into background tasks and trying to stop or pause the rendering from there!) Once I moved the library back into my user folder (and inside Movies), all the rendering problems stopped.
The only connection I can make is that FCPX is getting hung up on user permissions and the "current user". A lot of these issues started when I upgraded to a new iMac and restored all my old software (from the previous iMac) from Time Machine. It made me alter my user name for the new machine and I had some segments on this new machine with the older user permissions which I had to manually change to the new username in many cases.
If you have strict (user only) permissions on your RAID, try loosening them or make sure that you add your username to the list with read/write permissions. (? perhaps.)

Do you mean that when you click the title browser, for example, nothing is there?
Do you at least see several categories listed in the effects browser?
First make sure that you have nothing typed into the search box (not even spaces).
If you still see nothing, try this in order:
1) Window->Revert to Original Layout
2) Quit FCP X, delete preferences using Preference Manager (a free download from Digital Rebellion)
3) Download FCS Remover, and use it to completely remove FCP X. This will NOT delete your content, just the application.
4) Reinstall FCP X from the Mac App Store: log in with the same Apple ID that you used to buy FCP X, click on "Purchases", locate FCP X and click Install.

Downloaded generators, titles & effects not working

Hi everyone, im new here.. i've been encouraged by fox_m to post my "dilemma" here.. hope we can fix it!
I need some help with some generators, titles and effects i downloaded... i put them in the motions folder > title folder but when i open FCP, some work, some have the red screen with an exlacamation mark.. my motions folder do not have categories, they are just blank folders (generators, titles, effects, transitions etc). the way i do it is i just drag the downloads and put them in there.. as i said, some work, some get that exclamation mark. how do i fix this? i even tried fox_m's advice to download through a pkg installer, still didnt work.. help!

I don't understand how the drop zone works in Title effects.

I am having trouble understanding how the drop zone in the "Keynote" title effect works. I added the title effect to my storyline. In the inspector, Title tab, I selected the clip in the Event library, in this case a tiff photo. The thumbnail and clip title display in the inspector, but the clip does not display in the Viewer when I play the storyline even after FCPX has rendered.
Am I missing something in my understanding of this title effect or is there a problem in FCPX (10.0.6)? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

There are two ways in which drop zones are available in the Keynote title template. What Luis has shown you is the normal way in which a title placed over a clip shows you the original clip with the title text. That is called a Final Cut placeholder type of drop zone. Keynote also offers a drop zone to be used as a background choice instead of a gradient or solid as you see in Luis's post. This makes a very nice title effect as you can use any clip for that background. That is what I thought you were refering to when you you said drop zone. Keynote is one of the nicer titles we have available in FCP because of this feature. Glad you got it sorted out.

Proliant ML310e G8 boot error, boot logical drive is configured but missing or offline

Following a power outage the server will no longer boot up. During bootup  I get the following...
HP Dyanamic Smart Array B120i RAID Controller (v3.06.0m 0MB) 0 Logical Volume
1785-Drive Array Not Configured
    Run Array Configuration Utility
Press <F5> to run HP Array Configuration Utility (ACU)
Press <ESC> to skip
    **** Boot Logical Drive s configured but is Missing or Offline.
In ACU it shows 930GB available on the 1TB drive. There are few article I found that mention going into F8 boot option and nothing fits in with the options available.
for example these
   1. start the computer and wait till you see; "Press F8 to run option ROM configuration for Array utility"
   2. Press F8, you will see the Main Menu, Select the last option "Select Boot Volume"
   3. Select in Direct attached storage,
   4. if you see first logicar drive 01 select it .
   5. Press F8 To save Logical Drive 01 as Boot Volume.
   6. Press F8 to Exit and start with New Boot Volume.
I did find the following advisory but the controller isnt in the ones listed under Scope.

Also as I mentioned, viewing the ACU screens refer to createing array and creating logicl volumes, no mention of setting boot order. And going the the steps of creating the array and logical volumes seem it will wipe the data.

I'm a big Premiere Pro noob, so please make answers understandable

Make 3 separate titles with all the Words composed how you wish them to end up in the frame. *
To do this Create all the words in one title.
Duplicate and rename the title > then eliminate one word.
Repeat until you have three titles with one word in each.
Set them up stacked on separate video layers
Apply >Motion to each of them using Key Frames for start and end positions and scaling.

The file name img 1234 is missing or offline is on all images on screen

all my images have a bar accross the top which says 'the file name is missing or offline' this is on the screen, does anybody know what is going on here.

Hi Victoria, thankyou for the reply to my problem. This issue only seems to arisen since the last lightroom update.
When I click on ? message is IMG 1311 JPG. Could not be used because the original file could not be found, would you like to locate it? Then shows previous location.
This is the file location when I open the file name box, C:\Users\Peter viking\Pictures\2012-07-27, Cooma Monaro RSL collection of objects storage\2012-07-25, Cooma Monaro RSL collection of objects display\Cooma Monaro RSL collection of objects 066.jpg. this is not the right location for the image. When I put in the location of previous location listed, error message says pathway could not be found.
I have a 6 month old PC. Hope you can help this problem has come from nowhere.

Can you adjust preset title effects on Final Cut Pro X

Im trying to play with the anchor points on a preset title effect called DRAMATICA. The lettes LEAVE too quickly and don´t allow enough time to be read.
Can that be done? Is it possible to adjust the titles setting? Can the anchor point be adjusted for duration?

If you mean changing the relative duration of the various phases of the title, you'd have to open a copy in Motion; but be warned that, at least for an inexperienced user of Motion like myself, it seems to be a quite sophisticated title. There are complex behaviors involved, so it is not like some where you'd just publish another parameter and be done with it.

Matrix Style title effects

Does anyone know how to get a matrix style title effect and whether it can be done in Livetype or Motion, or is there a good plug-in for it?

There's no accounting for taste. The first Matrix was great. The other two...just showing off...story severely lacking.
But I have to agree with Randy...BATTLEFIELD EARTH was truly a pile. As was BATMAN & ROBIN with The Gubernator Arnold.
But are we going to turn this into a thread of what was the worse movie ever made? Hmmmm....

Missing or Offline Images

Hi;
I have about 9000 missing or offline images according to my Lightroom3 software.
However, they're not! I can see them in the folders on an external drive where Lightroom says they are not. I'm confused, baffled, fed-up!
When I try to reimport them, Lightroom says they are already there, doubly confusing?!
Can someone please help me get them back in my Library so I can use them.

PS I've had this same problem for a while, predating my recent update to v3 from v1.

When you have missing or offline images do NOT re-import. Since LR stores the edits and everything else you do in the catalog and not in the image file, you would loose everything you did by re-importing.
The correct way is to point LR to the missing image / folder. LR stores the location of an image (and its file-name) in the catalog, too. When you then move an image (or an image folder) or re-name them outside of LR, i.e. in Mac Finder / Win Explorer then there is a discrepancy for LR between what the catalog says and the actual situation on your hard drive(s). That creates the missing image message. "Missing" in this context means that LR does not "know" where the image is - it does not mean that the image is not somewhere on your hard drive.
For this reason, it is best practice to do all your image management (renaming of files/ folders or moving them) in LR. That way LR keeps track of where the images are.
You should see - in the folders panel (left side in Library Module - question marks besides the folders. This is LRs way of saying :I don't know where this folder is".
Right-click the top-most folder in the hierarchy of folders that show the question mark and select <Update folder location>. Navigate to the correct location of the folder and click on it. LR should then find the sub-folders on its own, provided that you have not changed the folder names or folder structure outside of LR.
If you have done this you have to do the <Update folder location> for each individual folder.
If you still have missing images after that, that means that you have moved images between folders 9outside of LR).
You then have to go the painfully slow route of pointing LR to each missing image. In the Grid View, the missing image should have a question mark on its frame. Click the question mark (hit it directly) and select <Find missing image>. Then navigate to the location of the image and click on it. If the file name has been changed you will be asked to verify that this is the correct image.

Sometimes when I go to an image it says 'file missing or offline' even when I click and say find missing file and it brings it back, its still saying file missing and offline. Anyone know the answer to this?

You have probably moved the files outside of Lightroom. The images you see in LR are previews that were made before you moved the files.
Do a search for the files/folders using your computers operating system. (Explorer/Finder)
Once you have found them, you can point LR to the right location.
