Missing OS and Applications DVDs

I purchased my MacBook white from a retailer, it did not come with the OS and applications DVDs. How can I get a copy of them?
TIA,
Damron

I bought it in Lombard, Ill. and I live in the Dallas, Texas area...we do have a Fry's electronics here, but I am afraid I am stuck! Do you know if I can purchase a new copy? I did go through the box several times, as small as it is, I was hopeful that is was hidden in there somewhere! :o)

  • Missing Files and Applications

Yesterday I turned on my computer and a folder and a file on my desktop were missing. I searched for them using Spotlight and Terminal, but was unable to find any trace of them at all. All the files in the Folder are gone too.
I also noticed that my Microsoft Office 2004 programs are all gone and I can no longer open .doc files as a result.
I haven't installed anything new or changed the computer recently. Can you help me figure out how to find the files and what may have caused it?
(This post may belong somewhere else but this was the best place I could find. Thanks)

Hey, I'm having the same problem...all my mp3's are missing, .doc files, everything I need for school, its driving me nuts and the nearest Apple Store is an hour away. If you've figured out the problem yet, or how to solve it, could you pelase let me know?

  • Can Apple replace the bundled OSX and Applications DVD?

I would like to know if Apple can send me a copy of the Mac OS X disc that came bundled in my Mac in case the original bundled disc becomes not usable.
    Thank You.

Most likely, you'll get a more definitive answer if you actually ask Apple.
I have heard here that Apple will supply, for a small fee, replacement disks for the ones that came with your Mac.
Or, you could buy some blank DVDs (most likely double-layer [DL]) and burn your own backups. You should run System Profiler, click on Disk burning, and see what options you have. For instance, mine says:DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RWwhich means I can write DVD-R, -RW, +R DL, and +RW. The disk labels will tell you which ones they are, just like what System profiler reports. I have experienced and heard others say that DL disks are finicky and Verbatim seems to work well.

  • "Services and Applications" is missing from the Failover cluster manager menu

    Hi,
I am not sure this is the right group for my question, but I couldn't find anything else more suitable.
In my Hyper-V installation (Windows 2012 Data Center), I am missing "Services and Applications". I am using Windows 8 to manage the cluster and I need this menu to import an existing VM into the cluster. How can I get this option or is there a
software that I need to install?
    Thanks

Now when I try to run PS 64-bit I get "Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory, Please reinstall the application." When I do this, it seems to install correctly until the very end, then it says "Installation Complete With Errors", and when I try to run I get the same 'component missing message'. What can I do? PS 32 bit runs fine. Some of the other applications ib Web Premium say the shortcut has been changed or removed. I appreciate your help...Thank you

Your profile says you have 10.6, so why bother with the original 10.5 OS?
But to your question, before you erase anything, make a backup of your data for safe keeping and restoration. Having an external hard drive for this purpose is most useful.

After a loooong time I found out that starting the PC with a CD in the drive is a workaround....
Do you know what is the problem?

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • How to install applications dvd AND keep computer on setup screen?

I have a 21.5 imac with snow leopard 10.6, I reinstalled the OS by dvd so its on the "bienviedo" part with the movie like a new mac, I want to keep it like that to sell it - but I see a 2nd applications DVD.
    1. Is this actually applications that come installed on new iMacs or are these supplemental applications?
    2. If these applications did come installed new, then how can I install them without configuring the computer? The directions from apple tell me to configure the computer, create user etc - then install the DVD.
    thanks for any help

Actually the way Apple does it is they Image Hundereds if not Thousands of drives at the same time with an image containing all of the OS and apps before they are installed in the computer during the manufacturing.
What I was referring to was when a system is returned to an Apple store or to Apple directly and then they refurb it, whatever that really means, before selling it as a Reburb unit. Most of the time Apple directly would just Re-Image the drive but a Store may use the system I was talking about for returned unit or if your drive need to be replaced.
    NOTE:
You Really Must supply the Original system disc with the system. You should not keep them as they are Machine Specific and really can't be used on any other model Mac computer. Otherwise if the new owner ever need to reinstall the original OS X version they would need to buy a replacement set from Apple.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

When I transferred my data from a 128GB Macbook Air to 256GB Macbook Air (brand new version as of 9/1/13) I end up with 188GB used!   I add up the size of Users, System, Library and Applications and it comes to 90GB.  What am I missing?  How did I "use" up so much space in migrating from one Mac to another?

Did you use the Setup Assistant available at the beginning of the new machine's setup process? Or did you use Migration Assistant later after you had set up the new machine?
If you used Migration Assistant, you generally wind up with two accounts (the new one you set up on the new machine plus the old one you ported over) - that may explain your excessive use of space. In that case, you can either manually combine/remove all unnecessary duplicate files, or you can start over by using Command + R, wiping your drive, and downloading the OS. Once it's downloaded, use the Setup Assistant offered at the beginning of the install/setup process.

  • [845 Series] 845PE and SATA DVD Burner, am I missing something here?

    Hello all,
I seem to be finding a lot of people with issues regarding Plextor SATA drives, but I may just not have the right mobo to do what I want, maybe someone can help me figure this out.
    Here are my basic specs:
    845PE Max2 mobo
    3 HDD(Don't think brand/capacity matters here)
    1 DVD ROM drive
I have 2 of my HDD hooked up to my Primary IDE channel, and the DVD ROM hooked up to my Secondary IDE channel, and I have the third HDD hooked up to the extra IDE channel set up for RAID on this motherboard, but when I hook up the Plextor burner to my SATA channel 1, it doesn't show up ANYWHERE.
    Here are my questions:
Can I use an optical SATA drive with this board, or will it only work with HDD's?
If I CAN use an optical drive, are the SATA channels hooked up somehow with the third IDE channel (In other words, is the fact that I have an IDE drive already on the third channel negating the SATA channels in the firsat place?)?
If the HDD IS what is causing the SATA drive not to show up, will moving it to the slave position on my Secondary IDE channel fix this, and if so, will my drive letter change?
I sure hope this isn't covered somewhere else in the forums, but I really didn't see MY exact problem anywhere.
I appreciate any and all help that you folks can provide!
    Thanks!
    Mike Wells

Your MOBO does not seem to be on the list as compatible with SATA Plextor optical drives. Of course, you could use a PCI card (SATA) in your machine.

I followed these instructions but cannot find how to reinstall PS. When I click on the membership link the page displays as NOT BEING FOUND.
    Quit all applications.
In the Finder, navigate to the Photoshop application folder.
    Do one of the following:
If the Locales folder is not listed within the application folder, then skip to Step 5.
If the Locales folder is listed within the application folder, then drag the Locales folder to the Trash.
    Choose Finder > Empty Trash.
Start the installer for Photoshop or your edition of the Adobe Creative Suite.
If you purchased boxed software, then insert the installation DVD-ROM into your computer's DVD drive.
If you purchased downloadable software from the Adobe Online Store, then double-click the disk image (.dmg) file or files that you downloaded. (If you no longer have the downloaded disk image file or files, then log in to your account at www.adobe.com/membership to download the installer.)
