Missing "p" key

yesterday we bought a black macbook for a friend. she's a mac newbie and very happy with this beautiful laptop.
however, something strange has happened:
- pressing the "p" key doesn't give you a lowercase "p" on the screen, no matter what app you're in
- pressing shift-p results in a correct "P", with numlock on you get a "*", so the hardware seems to be ok
- pressing "p" in the login dialog (username field) also works ok, so it must be related to some user settings...
while setting up the machine (typing name, address, mail config) it all worked ok. after we left her with her macbook she called to say the p key doesn't work as it should.
we've upgraded to os x 10.4.7. there's no new software installed. keyboard layout is swiss/german. next time i get her on the phone i'll tell her to switch to german/germany or even english to see whether the "p" returns or not.
any idea where this strange behaviour could result from?

no, she's a mac newbie so we didn't migrate or move any data from any machine to the macbook (not even an email-import from her windows pc).
as far as i understood she didn't download or install any new application or extension etc. (also i wouldn't say she knows where to get macintosh apps/downloads from)
next time i get a hand on her machine i'll try the following steps:
- switching the keyboard layout
- login with shift key down (disabling login items etc.)
- zapping pram (although i think it's a user-setting-related problem, not a global machine-problem)
- create a new user account
- reinstall os x ...

While creating the form based on a table/view, what have you chosen to populate the primary key value? Existing Triggers or Existing Sequences or Custom PL/SQL function?
Can you check for the Get PK pl/sql process in the page processing region of the related form page? If that function is missing then do the following steps to create the same,
Step 1 : Create a new pl/sql process.
Step 2 : Choose the Process Point as, On Submit After Computations and Validations.
Step 3 : Write the following block,

Not too sure... Is your installer supposed to create any keys in the registry?
Anyway, open your installer's build specification and check all the sections, I would suggest to bring specific attention to the following sections :
- "Source Files", because here, all the "extra files you want you installer to place in specific format have to be included/referenced in the project (.lvproj)
- "Registry", that's only if the installer is supposed to create keys in the registry
- "Additional installers", make sure you only tick the boyes corresponding to drivers/module that are required for you application and also make sure that when building, the installer you used to install those drivers/modules on your computer are still available.

Remote App missing some keys

I am using the remote app and I have to enter my iTunes password to purchase a movie, the problem is that some of the keys are missing on my remote app, this is on my iphone and my iPad. I am missing the Parenthasis keys. Both open and close. They are present on all other iphone remote functions, such as searching for movies, both in the iTunes Store and Netflix, but they aremissing on the remote app when trying to enter the iTunes password when ordering a movie. I also notice that when using the keyboard function and pressing the (123) button on the bottom left, the middle and lbottom rows do not change characters. See the two screen print that are attached.

Now when I try to push the symbols button on the left side, the second row stays the same.

It will go back to the alphabet keyboard. It strange that it happens on both iPhone4 v4.3.3 and iPad v 4.3.4, although the iPad is slightly different in the way the screen reads. Once again, it seems to work fine on other text entry screens, I only have this problem when trying to enter the password to purchase a movie. Maybe you can try to duplicate and see if you have the same thing when you go to enter the password. I don't know if a lot of people use special characters like I do for my password. See if the bottom 2 rows change when you push the #+= button. You don't need to complete the purchase or even enter anything, just check and see if it changes.

Very high LC amounts in GL view and missing posting keys inGL view

Transaction: FB60
Document currency PLN = Local currency PLN
in general ledger view of a document the items of vendor reconciliation account and of a balance sheet account with currency PLN in master data , have huge amounts which are much more higher than entered amounts in entry view.
For some items Posting key is missing and the total of items does not balance to zero.
The expense account items of the document have same amount as entere in the entry view.
Company code currency is PLN, Document currency and local currency both are PLN.
Furthermore 2 items of reconciliation account does not have in general ledger view any posting key and the total balance of the items are not balanced to zero in GL view.
The company have ECC6.0 and document splitting is active and was working fine.
The company has EUR as hard currency and USD as group currency.

Missing primary keys after import

Hi,
We receive a .dmp file from another company each night. The process changed when they started to obfuscate some sensitive data. But since then we are finding all the tables are missing their primary keys.
I really would like to eliminate our import process as the cause.
Has anyone ever heard of this kind of problem before? What was the cause/scenario.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

If you are not getting any errors during the import process, it is pretty unlikely that the import process is at fault assuming that hasn't changed. Make sure that INDEXES=Y and CONSTRAINTS=Y are specified (which is the default).
You can use the SHOW=Y parameter to have the import utility write the DDL contained in the dump file to a text file where you can manually verify that the primary key constraints you were expecting are indeed missing.

Is there a substitute for the missing Delete key?

I'm pretty unhappy with the new half bluetooth keyboard, probably because I have never been a laptop user. Big is better to me. One of the keys I am really missing is the delete key in the middle panel that deleted from the right rather than the left. I'm wondering if there is some kind of workaround to achieve that function without doing what I have been doing, i.e., moving the cursor all the way over to the right of what I want to delete and then using the remaining Delete key--a lot of trouble, I think.

Although it can increase a writer's speed considerably, this compact keyboard that ships with new iMacs is missing some important keys that are critical for persons who edit documents using Word 2008, TextEdit, and other programs. Gone missing are Page Up, Page Down, End, Home, Insert, and Delete. Most problematical is that the new keyboard renamed the Backspace key common on older keyboards to Delete and one now has no single delete key for erasing material to the right of the cursor. If you want to delete characters (or a word) to the right, you have to press Fn>Delete, two-step process.
Has anyone found a way that the A1242 can have these important editing functions? Thanks very much.

The Apple USB Keyboard with numeric keypad is an optional configuration during the purchase of an iMac at no additional charge. If your purchase is recent perhaps Apple will switch the keyboard for you.

Lenovo G550 missing Enter key

Hi,
I am missing the "Enter" key (part of main keyboard, not part of numeric keypad) on my G550 keyboard. It is not the "horizontal" shape Enter key, but the more "vertical/L-shape" Enter key.
Can anyone maybe help me to find out where I can get a replacement key?

Missing Primary Keys after migartion of a MSAccess 2003 DB to oracle 9.i

I migrate a MS Access 2003 DB to Oracle 9.i with the Oracle Migration Workbench 10.1.0.4.0. on a Windows 2k PC. All the Primary Keys of my tables are missed after migration and no Foreign Key is created.
In the MS Access Source Model Window of OMWB are the Primary Keys detected but in migration script or in oracle db after migration there is no Primary Key applied.
Dos anyone kows the reason for this behavior.

Missing Primary Key

Hi,
I have this situation where sometimes the primary key is missing or jumps sequence during record saving. It happens occasionally but I do not know when and how it happens.
The primary key is generated automatically by sequence. For example, last month after the primary key 351 is being saved into table CUSTOMER, the next record is using primary key number 400.
Earlier this week, the situation happened again. Primary key 904 was recorded into CUSTOMER table. But, the next primary key was 950. I do not know where are primary keys from 905 until 949 went missing.
I hope anyone could show me how to rectify this.

Sequences used Cached values. If a sequence is unused for some time, the cached values may get aged out of the shared pool, resulting in a seeming "loss" of intermediate values (the next call to the sequence will cache values above those just lost).
Cached values are also lost at shutdown.
Another situation is when a sequence is incremented but the transaction is not committed but is instead rolled back (either manually or because of some other failure). The incremented sequence value does not get rolled back.
Sequences are designed to give Unique names. By default, they are not intended to guarantee consecutive numbers.
Even if you define a sequence as a NOCACHE sequence, you can still lose the last incremented value on a transaction rollback.
note: A Sequence as a Primary Key is an artificial PK (a "synthetic PK") but is sometimes necessary.

Amazon AWS FMS - missing license key?

I have set up an Amazon AMI FMS instance which is working fine - but is behaving like a development edition.
When launching instances of my app from the Administration Console, I can only launch 5 or 6. After this, I see the instance name in the list, but in LiveLog there are no trace statements, and no log file is produced for that instance. It looks to me very much like I just ran out of NetConnections, as each instance needs to create proxy NetConnections to another app on the same server.
I ported this app straight from one of my own (Win98) FMS3.0 installations. I'm running the Administration Console remotely from the Win server.
I'm pretty used to the conf structure and files, and have checked several times. Maybe there's a new setting in 4.0, or maybe I'm just missing a license key...

I managed to resolve it. My app was built on FMS3.0, and when I ran it on FMS4.0 only 3 instances would start up. So I rebuilt the Application.xml from the template in the FMS4.0 conf, setting the process scope to app, and distributing over instances. All working fine now.
Still a great product.

Missing InfoAdditions keys like 'UISupportedInterfaceOrientations'

The current pfi, doesnt really like that and tells us that InfoAdditions contains an invalid value.
Are these orientations supported in some other way or is an pfi update expected in the near future?

If you are not getting any errors during the import process, it is pretty unlikely that the import process is at fault assuming that hasn't changed. Make sure that INDEXES=Y and CONSTRAINTS=Y are specified (which is the default).
You can use the SHOW=Y parameter to have the import utility write the DDL contained in the dump file to a text file where you can manually verify that the primary key constraints you were expecting are indeed missing.
