  • AIX missing packages issue

    Hi guys,
    In trying to install 11gr2 on AIX 5.3 I need to install the packages rsct.basic.rte and rsct.compat.clients.rte. I have these packages available but for some reason, i'm getting some inconsistent errors..
    If i try to install rsct.compat.clients.rte i get :

    First error i've spotted is rsct.compat.clients.rte has to be at version 2.4.12.0 whereas i only have 2.4.1.0 .. however I'm unsure why the others are being flagged as necessary as well..
    Anyone have experience/thoughts on why this might be occurring?
    AIX version (from oslevel -s) is : 5300-04-CSP-0000
    Thanks guys :)

    Thanks for the reply.. The post is related to an Oracle installation on a supported operating system.... the package dependencies are for Oracle's processes and as an installation forum i would have thought this would be the best place to ask this kind of question. If we can ask Windows server/Linux questions (of which i see quite a few), why not AIX?
    The server is dedicated to an 11gR2 installation.. nothing else needs or uses these packages, the prompt to install them came from the oracle installer...
    Any other more helpful posters?

    I would like to know the exact names of the packages that are needed and where can i get them.
    Thanking you in advance

    Step No. 1
    First of all you have to install the default package selection while installing RHEL 5.4 x-86. Thereafter you need to install the following rpms manually
    1.      glibc-devel-2.5-24.i386.rpm
    2.      libaio-0.3.106-3.2.i386.rpm
    3.      sysstat-7.0.2-1.el5.i386.rpm
    4.      java-1.4.2-gcj-compat-src-1.4.2.0-40jpp.115.i386.rpm
    5.      compat-gcc-34-c++-3.4.6-4.i386.rpm
    6.     compat-gcc-34-3.4.6-4.i386.rpm
    7.      compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-61.i386.rpm
    8.      compat-libstdc++-295-2.95.3-85.i386.rpm
    Step No. 2
    Edit the "/etc/redhat-release" file
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga)
    to
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 4.4 (Tikanga)
    Step No. 3
    While installing you may encounter the following error
    Exception java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /tmp/OraInstall2009-10-01_09-18-29AM/jre/1.4.2/lib/i386/libawt.so: libXp.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory occurred..
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /tmp/OraInstall2009-10-01_09-18-29AM/jre/1.4.2/lib/i386/libawt.so: libXp.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    to overcome this error, you have to install the following packages
    libXpm-3.5.5-3
    libXp-1.0.0-8
    libXpm-devel-3.5.5-3
    $ rpm -Uvh libXp-* --nodeps  (This option is given to avoid any dependency problem)
    Hope this will help you in installing

  • Launch SunOs 5.10 Binary on SunOS 5.6

    I compiled a my source on SunOS 5.10 with f95
    and now I try to launch it on SunOS 5.6.
    First some libraries wasn't there, after I copied this libraries on my SunOS 5.6
    I get the following error message:
    ld.so.1: ./sdat: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/libthread.so.1: symbol
    libcthreads_interface: referenced symbol not found
    ld.so.1: ./sdat: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/libthread.so.1: symbol
    libcthreads_interface: referenced symbol not found
    Killed
    Pls, can you help me, what can I do to launch my program on the older SunOS 5.6?
    Thanx and bye
    Jochen

    Sorry, it is hardly possible. Generally the procedure to run binary on a range of SunOS'es is to compile it on the oldest one.
    We provide this kind of binary compatibility, but not backward.
    Compiling on newer OS (10) you make your binary dependant on a newer interfaces which are not available in previous OS versions.
    Thus if you intend to run on Solaris 8, 9 and 10 you should compile on Solaris 8.
    In your case a newer interface you have stumbled upon is a private part of libc threads.
    Solaris 10 is waaay different from previous versions (threading part in particular), you might be lucky with going from Solaris 8 down to 6, but not from Solaris 10.
    Anyway, this questions might be better answered on Solaris forum. They might know some hacks around. Compilers itself cant solve this problem.
    regards,
    __Fedor.

  • Binary compatibility problems using Sun Studio 12

    I'm working in a project that uses Orbix [1] third-party libraries. I have installed the Sun Studio 12 on Solaris 10 SPARC but I have got some strange segfault problems (the exactly same code works fine in a Linux box - using g++). I read the 1.4 section of Sun Studio 12 C++ Userguide [2] but I have a doubt:
    Is there no way to compile my code using Sun Studio 12 using shared libraries compiled against earlier Sun Studio C++ compiler versions (like Sun Studio 8 or some version before Sun Studio 11)?
    I think my problem is related to the fact that Orbix team used Sun Studio 8 as some notes found in their headers indicate:
    "IONA Technologies ART IDL Compiler POA C++ Generator asp 6.3.3 SunOS 5.8 CC_5.5 2008/06/13 21:04:37 EDT"
    A secondary question: Is CC 5.5 present in Sun Studio 8, right?
    Can anyone help me? Every tips are welcome :) Thanks in advance!

I read the 1.4 section of Sun Studio 12 C++ Userguide [2] but I have a doubt:I don't think 1.4 Binary Compatibility Verification applies in your case. It's referring to processor capability to execute certain (new) instructions; if your third-party libraries were compiled a while ago, it's highly unlikely they use instructions not implemented by the processor you have.
    Is there no way to compile my code using Sun Studio 12 using shared libraries compiled against earlier Sun Studio C++ compiler versions (like Sun Studio 8 or some version before Sun Studio 11)?Generally speaking, any library compiled with older Sun Studio C++ compiler is supposed to be compatible with any library or executable compiled with newer version provided that all parties did everything right. For example, that third-party libraries should not be statically linked with C++ run-time support libraries; your executable should be linked with latest compiler driver (CC) so that it records correct dependencies on support libraries.
    Of course, there could be (and actually are) compiler bugs standing in the way of compatibility. Some of them can be fixed, some - like demangler issue described in http://docs.sun.com/source/820-4155/c++.html - can't. There is no easy way to tell if you hit a compiler bug or bulding/linking issue, or bug in the code that was previously unseen.

    "IONA Technologies ART IDL Compiler POA C++ Generator asp 6.3.3 SunOS 5.8 CC_5.5 2008/06/13 21:04:37 EDT"Yes, looks like it was compiled by 5.5, which is part of Sun Studio 8

  • Missing packages in Software Update

    Hello,
    I wanted to report a problem with software update. We have multiple different T540p models here at work, some are i7s and some are i5s. We do a fresh clean install of Windows to remove all of the bloatware, then run system update to fetch all of the drivers. The i7 models pickup all of the drivers fine, while the i5 models are missing some software packages. I believe system update works by associating your machine type/id with the backend. It will then give you a list of all of the drivers/software required for your system.
    The only missing package I noticed is the Hotkeys Features Integration with 8.1 . I know this can be downloaded manually but wanted to pass this along.
    Product ID: 20BE004FUS
    Serial # isn't needed
    Thanks.

    When you say "FN Key Manager", are you talking about Hotkeys Features Integration, or something else?
    Are you deploying Win7 or Win8.1?

  • Missing package... it's been 2 months and still no "refund"

     Hi,
    Sometime in late March/early April, I filed a missing package report for a pair of headphones I ordered online. Two weeks later, I called up Best Buy about the status of the order, and was told that UPS did an investigation and concluded that the package was lost.
    Support told me they would credit me the amount back to my credit card in about 3-5 business days.
    It's been two months. I haven't gotten a refund.
    I'm not sure whether I should post my reference number here, but it seems like you guys are just stalling me. This is ridiculous. My credit card billing statement is due really soon, and I have an outstanding balance for a pair of headphones I didn't even receive.
    Can someone PLEASE fix this for me? You guys have a very unprofessional, roundabout way of doing things. One of the support members I called acted as if she didn't even know what a reference number was.

    Hello jbtb07,
    Welcome to the forum! After almost two months of trying to sort out an order issue, I can understand why you would be fairly fed up with dealing with this issue. I am sorry to hear that you may not have ever received the headphones, and that you are still trying to find a resolution to this.
    Using the email address you registered with your forum, I was able to locate the order. It appears that a resolution was provided to you, and so I am sending you a private message with further details. • Missing package metadata

    Hello, I'm trying to install package-query with the command,
    pacman -U http://mir.archlinux.fr/~tuxce/releases … 1.1.tar.gz
    However, it installs and gives the error
    missing package metadata in /var/cache/pacman/pkg/package-query-1.1.tar.gz
    Then it says that that file is corrupted. I tried this for other things in the aur and it does the same thing.I'm running a base install and this is literally the first file I'm downloading, please help.

    First that url is incorrect, I think you mean http://mir.archlinux.fr/~tuxce/releases … 1.1.tar.gz
    Second, even the correct url just gets the source code, not a package. And I suspect anything you tried to get off the AUR was just the compressed files needed to build a package, unless you also ran makepkg to build something.
    I suggest taking a look at the wiki page

  • Binary compatibility

    Hello all,
    I've compiled an app that will run as a service on solaris 8 (on a sparc ultra-5). I've used gcc to compile and the app runs fine on the sparc ultra-5.
    My quesion is - will this compiled binary run on an E420 or any other sun hardware? In general, is there some docs/resources that describe binary compatibility across sun hardware?
    Thanks for any info.

    Hi,
    Sun has a very strong binary compatibility guarantee, but I'm not sure where one would find documentation!
    I would be more concerned about carting the required GCC runtimes around with you wherever you want to run your binary than Solaris or SPARC binary compatibility.
    We build in 32 bit on a quad UltraSPARC III running Solaris 8, using Studio 10 (we were on Workshop 5 until recently!), and most of our customers run on Solaris 9, and in most cases on something a touch faster than UltraSPARC III.
    I'd recommend you take a look at the new Studio 11 release (it is free after all) to avoid carting runtimes around with you. Please remember, however, that the machines your software runs on will need to be running at least the same patches as are pre-requisite for Studio 11 (well, the C and C++ runtimes anyway).

  • Check binary compatibility between 2 Jars

    Hello,
    we have a Java API to our repository product. Is there a way to check binary compatibility between different versions of that API? The problem is that the interfaces evolve and sometimes changes are necessary. So we already had the problem that different versions are incompatible.
    I found just one tool: japitool. But it does not detect the latest problem we have.
    Thanks in advance

    Read the pacman output, it refers to the package() function and makepkg doesn't find it in the PKGBUILD as said. Ask the maintainer to update or orphan it, if he doesn't respond file an AUR request.

  • Checkstyle warning: Missing package-info.java file

    Hi,
    I'm getting a checkstyle warning for a simple class which looks like:
    package tools.interprocess;
    * Class for testing RMI.
    * @author spinth
    public final class RMITest {
         * Private constructor.
        private RMITest() {
         * Main method.
         * @param args User arguments
        public static void main(final String[] args) {
    }The warning message says: Missing package-info.java file
    I really couldn't figure out what this means and how I can fix it. Do I have to add something to the source tree?
    I'm using Eclipse for development and Eclipse-cs as my checkstyle plug-in.
    Thanks.
    Edited by: spinth on Apr 15, 2010 12:37 PM

    If you don't want that warning then simply turn it of.
    A package-info.java file is there mostly to attach JavaDoc to the package itself.
    If you don't need/want that, then the checkstyle warning is useless. Checkstyle (and similar tools) are meant to be tweaked to your needs and not used blindly.
