it seem like the packages i have on my oracle linux 6 os is of higher version compared to what oracle 11gR2 database installer is asking for which is of lower version.
i can't seem to find/download those packages individually from any website.
I am trying to download the oracle linux 5 os iso with the hope i can find the lower version packages from the iso disc.
Appreciate if there is any help here. pointing to any website i can quickly download the packages cos trying to download the iso takes me more then 13 hour!.

You should find all rpms and their right version (as required by installer) onto linux 6 iso.
For some rpms the installer can like higher versions but not for all. For some rpms installer requires the exact version.

    When asking a question is often helps to explain what the software is good for and how to reproduce the problem. This is not a juicer or ruby forum and there are probably not many if any user familiar with juicer in this forum. But for what it's worth, the following works in Oracle Linux 6.3 x86 and probably other release versions:
    curl -L https://get.rvm.io | bash -s stable --ruby
    source /usr/local/rvm/scripts/rvm
    ruby --version
    ruby 2.0.0p247 (2013-06-27 revision 41674) [x86_64-linux]

    Available commands:
        help            Provide help for individual commands
        install         Install a third party library
        list            Lists all dependencies for all input files/patterns
        merge           Combines and minifies CSS and JavaScript files

    P.S. nokogiri requires Ruby version >= 1.9.2.

  • Issue to install mhVTL on Oracle Linux 5.9

    Hi Everyone
    I'm dealing with an issue to install mhVTL on Oracle Linux 5.9, my current operating system. My goal is to install Oracle Secure Backup once that mhVTL is running.
    According to the the link https://sites.google.com/site/linuxvtl2, I have followd this steps:
    1.- rpm --import https://www.elrepo.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-elrepo.org
    2.- rpm -Uvh http://www.elrepo.org/elrepo-release-5-4.el5.elrepo.noarch.rpm
    3.- rpm -Uhv http://dl.atrpms.net/el5-x86_64/atrpms/stable/atrpms-repo-5-6.el5.x86_64.rpm
    * NOTE: By default, the liblzo2_2 is not installed and my box doesn't have a repository to find it. For this reason I have installed this rpm file that let my box access a repository with the liblzo2_2 lib
    4.- yum yum install liblzo2_2
    5. sudo yum install mhvtl-utils kmod-mhvtl
    After running all this steps, I get the following message if I perform /etc/init.d/mhvtl start:
    /etc/init.d/mhvtl start
    FATAL: Module mhvtl not found.
    No kernel module loaded to feed these daemons.
    Need mhvtl kernel module version at least 0.18.11
    Did you remember to compile the 'mhvtl' kernel module ?
    Please see http://sites.google.com/site/linuxvtl2/
    According to this message, I understand, that I haven't install the kernel, so I have downloaded and uncompressed the mhvtl-2013-10-20.tgz file but with no success
    1. tar xvzf mhvtl-2013-10-20
    2. mhvtl-1.4
    3. cd kernel
    4. # make

    If the problem is only to install Xvfb, you can do that doing the following:
    # yum list "*xvfb*"
    Available Packages
    xorg-x11-server-Xvfb.x86_64     1.15.0-22.el6   public_ol6_latest

    This error appears while installing developer 10g on linux suse 10.0
    http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=errorso9.png

    Try locate (using find command for example) the libjvm.so file (I assume that is located somewhere under $ORACLE_HOME (probably jdk or jre directory)). If you locate the path where this library resides, try to add that path to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable.
    Use copy&paste method (for error message) rather than link to image.
    It is much quicker operation and it may help to other people because they be able to find this thread via search engine.

    Which gcc is in your CD? List them all.
    And yes, they are there. Unless someone gave you a rescue disk or stripped down live CD, in which case you need to thank the person who gave you that appropriately.
    You need to search the CD/DVD and you need to learn how to install RPMs. Both can be learned by intelligent internet searches.

  • How to Install Oracle ASM 11gR2 In Oracle Linux 6.5

    Hi
    I want to install oracle ASM in oracle linux 6.5 .
    Can any one helps me to find a paper with above subject?
    Thanks

    Theses steps only if You want to use ISCSI. This is fine to get the howto:
    If You ar running in VM Ware Boxes:
    Add the following to the *.vmx file for the virtual machine:
    disk.EnableUUID = "TRUE"
    Restart the vm machine and the /dev/disk/by-id/scsi**** should be visible.
    That's a nasty one - without this ISCSI just doesn't work
    chkconfig iscsi on
    iscsiadm -m discovery -t st -p 192.168.146.100
    iscsiadm -m node -T iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:iscsi-asm-target   -p 192.168.146.100 -l
    192.168.146.100 <=== IP Number of ISCSI Host
    iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:iscsi-asm-target <== Name of ISCSI Server, you get this as output from discovery command
    Now, you must make sure that the devices belong to oracle.
    Take a look at this link:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/linux/udev-scsi-rules-configuration-in-oracle-linux-5-and-6.php#make_scsi_devices_trusted
    Add the following to the "/etc/scsi_id.config" file to configure SCSI devices as trusted. Create the file if it doesn't already exist.
    options=-g
    /sbin/scsi_id -g -u -s /block/sdc <== for all ISCSI devives
    vi /etc/udev/rules.d/99-oracle-asmdevices.rules
    KERNEL=="sd?1", BUS=="scsi", PROGRAM=="/sbin/scsi_id -g -u -s /block/$parent", RESULT=="360003fff419213c1a9a1ce9b75e35f63", NAME="asm1-disk1", OWNER="asm", GROUP="dba", MODE="0660"

    Reload:
    /sbin/udevcontrol reload_rules
    /sbin/start_udev
    Now you have your devices read, belonging to oracle:
    ls -al /dev/asm*
    Next go to oracle download click on list all and get:
    Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0) for Linux x86-64
    After extracting this you are ready to go.
    When starting the install process you get an option to "change path", here select /dev.
    In my test systems I use to set "external" for dataprotection.

    Hi,
    I am getting following error while installing Oracle Identity management suite 11g (Oracle Internet Directory & Oracle Virtual Directory) on Red Hat Linux 5.0.
    "Error in invoking target 'client_sharedlib' of makefile '/apps/idm/Oracle/OracleHome/Oracle_Home/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk"
    the same error is repeating for others also i.e. 'all', 'install" etc.
    Can you advice me how to overcome this?
    Regards
    Chinta

    Hi Chinta,
    Pl. check for all gcc and glibc OS packages compatibility with your your OS. This will solve your problem.
    Also check that you are not installing a 32 bit IM software on a 64 bit machine or viceversa.
