Missing page break

Is there a way to insert a real page break into multi-pages sheets like in Excel? I have not found a way to do this or a work around apart from inserting multiple rows.

you may not have same problem
my columns stuck out over what used to be a page break
so I fit columns to data starting from the right most column
until all the columns I wanted were on one sheet
then there is a Distribute columns evenly (or something like that)
that spread the columns to evenly fill out page.
Not complete control
but at least my pages started on the column I wanted

  • Page breaks missing

i have two repeating frames in my rdf. both repeating frames have the maximum records setting set to 1 in their property palettes. i also tried using insert page break before set to 'yes' for the first repeating frame and insert page break after set to 'yes' for the second repeating frame. but even with all this, i just can't get the page breaks to show up in the output!
the rdf is a check writer for payables for a european country where they need the invoices list in the upper part of the page and the vendor details and total check amount from the invoices in the upper part of the page in the lower part. the totals and everything is working fine. it is just that the page breaks after the vendor details are absent which is causing optio to not understand where one page starts and the next page begins resulting in a disarray of all the details.

Page break after for first frame should work I would have thought. If not I think that someone suggested the other day on this forum adding a piece of text with spaces in it in between the repeating frames and putting a page break after on that. Dont know if it will work but sounds as if it might.

  • When exporting to epub, only about 1/3 of my chapters are getting the page breaks. Each chapter is in its own doc, and I've tried splitting it apart by doc. and by H1, with no luck. HELP

All my paragraph styles seem to jive, and no matter what I do, most of my chapters seem to miss their page breaks. I've heard of others having this issue with older versions of Indesign, but I'm on CC2014, and I thought that should be fixed by now. I really don't want to have to learn HTML code and go break open the epub doc to fix it manually, because that doesn't always work across all devices either.  I know others have to of  run into this problem before. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure the paragraph style applied to the chapter title (if that's the first line of each chapter) is tagged. Open the paragraph style and go to Export Tagging and check Split Document (epub only). Then when you export (assuming you are using reflowable) under General>Split Document check Based on Paragraph Style Export Tags. Try it and let us know if this helps.

  • Page Break Issue - Excel 2013

I'm about to explode, trying to figure out why this problem is happening. I have two users who are opening
an Excel file from the same location, and they're doing their own modifications/saves. When one user opens the document and prints, the Print Preview shows 12 pages, and there are no problems. When the other user opens the same file and prints, there are 18
    pages.
Throughout those 18 pages, there are several blank pages interspersed with populated ones, and there are also
a couple of pages with one line or so, from the end of a previous page. If I go to View>>Page Break Preview, this extended document shows little slivers of extra pages. The top of those little "pages" are dashed, and the bottom line is the
solid page-break, for the next page.
Why would this be happening to one user, but not the other? They're both opening the exact same page/template.
Oh, and as a side note, I'm also getting 18 pages with blanks/single-lines, when I open the file. Is there an advanced setting that the 12-page user has checked in Excel that I'm missing? Am I providing enough information?
    Any help is massively appreciated.
    - Thanks

It's probably caused by a difference in printers. Excel uses the printer settings to place page breaks
Some printers, e.g. inkjet printers, have a smaller printable area than others, e.g. laser printers. As a result, less information will fit on a page.
The worksheet apparently also has manually set page breaks.
Let's take a simple example: the used area of the worksheet has 94 used rows, and a manual page break has been set below row 47. I'll assume that the used area is rather narrow.
On printer A, 48 rows fit on a page. So the first 47 rows will be printed on page 1, and the next 47 rows on page 2.
On printer B, only 46 rows fit on a page because it has a smaller printable area. So the first 46 rows will be printed on page 1, the 47th row on page 2 (not more, because there is a manual page break below row 47). The next 46 rows will be printed on page
3, and the 94th and last row on page 4.

  • Page break issue with subform AddInstance

I would like the table on page 4 of this form --- http://www.tahc.state.tx.us/10-09_TrichomoniasisEpiInvestigation.pdf --- to be allowed to break across a page if necessary. I want the button on that page to add another instance of the table at the top of the next available page.
I am clearly missing something about subforms and overflow because in LCD, this is a 5-page form. When it's opened in Acrobat, it's a 7-page form (the table displays on page 6) and and the table extends past the bottom of the page so that the button is not visible.
Any leads on how I can fix this? Thanks.

Thank you for the tip. Your fix is a big step in the right direction --- the form renders as it should but only if I don't enable usage rights for Reader. After usage rights are enabled, the page break problems reappear and the blank table runs off the bottom of the page. Do you know why this occurs? (I've reposted your fixed form with user rights enabled---http://www.tahc.state.tx.us/10-09_TrichomoniasisEpiInvestigation.pdf.) Thanks again.

  • Smartform issue with page break

    Hi All,
I have an unusual issue with page break. Here is my scenario, I have a group of items in my table main area and for each group there is sort of header that prints. Similarly there are multiple groups needing a header whenever there is a new group printing. So far it prints fine. But whenever there is a page break and when items from the same group also print on the next page the same header needs to print on the top of next page similar to how the header area repeats on each page. Unfortunately I did not see any page break event for table main area.
Here is an alternative I have tried but having issues: I have created two rows for this group header one printing from header and another printing from main area. Whenever there is a page break the same group header prints as part of the header and on the rest of the page it prints from the main area. But in a particular scenario, there is a new group starting at almost bottom of the page but as there is not enough space left on the same page (page protection) jumps to next page. In this case there are two group headers printed one coming from the preivous page main area and another coming from the next page header. I hope my explanation is clear enough to understand.
Please suggest if there is any basic feature of smartform that I have missed out can solve this issue or if there is another alternative you can think of. I appreciate your responses.
    Thanks..

I was able to solve this issue on my own.
Instead of checking for a page break on header line I am using a flag that is prepopulated in the table. I set this flag whenver a new group of items starts. If the flag is set I print it from the main area and if it is not set I print it from the header. This helped in avoiding the multiple header lines..

  • Page Breaks for Customer Open Balance Letter when printing

    Hi All,
We are running 'Customer Open Balance Letter' report and printing the output(View Output). Which is printed irrespective of page breaks.
I mean print is like in a single page two letters got printed, which in not expected.
Are we missing any thing in print setup or the way of printing.
Please let me know the possibilites of printing a letter per page or different letters printed in different pages without customization of that report.
    thanks in advance.

    What is your application release?
What is the type of the report (text, postscript)?
Is the issue with this specific report only? Can you reproduce the issue if you print to another printer?
What if you download the output file to your desktop and print it, can you reproduce the issue then or it is when you print directly from the application only?
Please post the details of the printer setup/style/driver.
    Thanks,

  • Setting page breaks...how?

    I am new to numbers...
How do you set a page break? In print view, I would expect to simply drag the lines that represent the page breaks to in between the columns where I want the break, but that does not work.
I have a spread sheet that is 1 page tall and 3 pages wide; but, I would like the 3 pages to actually print as 4, with each page having a logical grouping of columns (instead of an arbitrary grouping). Should be simple, but I am missing something.
    thanks
    bob

For sure, you missed the workaround described by badunit.
I set huge header/footer so that we may put required text in these areas.
We may achieve the same goal with huge margins.
This workaround assume that each piece of table has the same number of identical rows.
If this condition is not filled, we may change slightly the height of rows to achieve the wanted goal.
Adding extraneous rows is a viable workaround. We may mask extraneous rows with a white rectangular shape.
I know, these processes are only workarounds but we have to live with what Numbers '09 is able to do until the next major release which perhaps will be iWork '11

  • Can I insert Page Breaks in Acrobat X?

I've got a 1 page scanned document in Acrobat X Pro.  I'd like to split it at a point I choose into a 2 page pdf file.  Is that possible in Acrobat?
In say Word, I'd just insert a Page Break.  I looked for a Page Break In Acrobat but couldn't find one.  I did find Pages > Split Document but that splits on pages or bookmarks, so not really relevant to my problem.  I could get the scissors out, cut the original piece of paper, and re-scan as 2 pages.  But that isn't ideal for the volume I'll be handling in future.
I'm sure the gurus here will know a neat and efficient way of doing this - or know straightaway that it can't be done - or just point me to something really obvious that was there all along but I missed!  Thanks for any input.

You cannot treat Acrobat as a word processor. But you can duplicate a page and crop the bottom on one page and the top of the other. The problem is there will be no reflowing of the rest of the document.

  • Custom page breaks with "@media print" in CSS when creating a PDF from HTML?

Searching for threads containing the text string "@media print" gave me zero hits, so I guess I'm either the smartest guy in the entire universe for coming up with this idea or the dumbest for the same reason since I must be missing something that everyone else knows by heart without even asking.
Namely, I would like to make use of the CSS "@media print" wrapper when I'm converting an HTML file to PDF through Adobe Acrobat - as opposed to printing an HTML page through a web browser using the Adobe PDF virtual printer device. These are, as I understand it, two equivalent though not entirely identical (as they make use of and rely on somewhat different settings) procedures that both convert an HTML file into a PDF document.
    Here's my CSS code:
    @media print { span.pagebreak {page-break-before: always} }
And here's my HTML code invoking the page break:
    <span class="pagebreak"></span>
Bottom line, this works great when I print the HTML file through my web browser, using the Adobe PDF printer device. However, when converting the HTML file through Adobe Acrobat, this print-related setting is ignored. Obviously, printing and converting a file isn't technically identical but as I said, it's for virtually all intents and purposes the same procedure.
I'm guessing that someone at the Adobe HQ must have thought through this issue during a brainstorming session and come up with a simple yet elegant solution to cater for the needs of those who want to use custom page breaks when converting their HTML documents directly through Adobe Acrobat. Maybe a simple setting somewhere or a custom CSS tag like "@media adobe", or something similar?

I've never heard of anyone succeeding in this.

  • Page breaks with dynamic table

    Hi there!
We've built a LiveCycle process in which we get data from an XML file and generate the PDF in LC Output.
However, although the items are being correctly generated in the table, only the first 20 or so records are being included, generatin just one page.
There are around 200 records in the XML - we just can't find how to set up the XDP in LC Designer so that we get a multipages PDF containing all 200 records instead of just 20.
We are using a dynamic table with the following set up:
    Pagination: Following Previous
In Binding tab, we checked Repeat Row for Each Data Item
This table was inserted using the Insert Table option in main menu, using the wizard and it's inserted in a subform.
All these setup options were applied to the table row element.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!
    Marcos

    Hi Niall,
    Thank you for the input!
However, there's something else we're missing here.
After I tried your suggestion there were actually page breaks... we got 4 pages. However, only one of them had any content (the dynamic table with 30 records) and the other three were blank. The XML that populates the table includes 200 records.
We're pulling our hair off here, trying to do this for days!...
    BR,
    Marcos

  • Adobe Forms - Page Break via a Conditional Break

Having read through the forum I am getting the impression that Page Breaks is a bit of a problem.
I can enforce a page break between datasets by setting "After:" to "Goto Next Page", on the Object->Pagination tab, however this results in a blank page at the end of the entire output which is just the Master Page with all the static elements.
The 'Conditional Breaks' sounds like the logical point to force a page break based on a combination of inequality or if a particular data element equals a known value.
However, I don't seem to be able to get the 'Conditional Break' to work.
So, the question I would like to ask, is how can you tell if the conditional break logic is correct and whether or not it is running? For example on an ABAP system is it possible to run it and debug it?
My attempts at getting the break to open a pop up or write to disk via JavaScript fails, which is leading me to think they  are being ignored by the Adobe Form at both the server and client level.
Is it possible that I have missed another setting somewhere else in the Adobe form configuration?

    Hello Jason!
You are right that conditions (and all scripting) are bit tricky in this solution. Still they work.
Debugging of AIF at ABAP side is not possible due to the architecture of the solution - from the ABAP POV it is just a web-service call and receiving result (PDF) back. You can't stop it on midpoint or intercept it somehow.
At the same time there are other ways to check it.
First, you can enable trace and saving additional info in SFP transaction under Utilities -> Settings.
    Details see [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/f7/a04aee0cb94978a011401311efe603/frameset.htm]
And the nice way to check if your condition block is taken into the account is simple check like 1 = 2.
If this works and you receive page break than all you need is find errors in your condition syntax, otherwise the problem is somewhere else.

    Petr Perstnev

  • 2-column layout with correct page breaks

    Hi there,
I am trying to produce a 2-column layout in my form.
The problem is: These columns stretch over more than one page and I just cannot get the page breaks right.
I have a flowed layout with two adjacent subforms which form my columns. In these column subforms I fill lots of data from XML.
Problem 1 is: At the end of the page I miss about 5 lines. They vanish in the page break.
Problem 2 is: My second column starts getting filled only on the second page (which happens to be the page where the first column ends).
I also tried this with one table with exactly one row. But there all lines after the first page disappear and I get empty pages instead.
Has anyone ever come across this problem?
What is a good safe way to build dynamic 2-column forms?
    Ulrich

    Hi Paul,
the former. It is NOT like in a newspaper where the content runs from left to right from one column into the next and finally into the leftmost column of the next page.
Im my case the content of the 2 columns is completly separat from each other: The data in the left column is distincly left-column-only data. As is the data in the right column distinctly right-column-only data.
Actually it is not even sure, that the left column is longer than the right.
It is absolutly o.k. to have  3 pages where the left column is empty and only the right column is filled.
An example would be: Technical data of two articles to be compared: Left is the Mercedes-data and right is the BMW-data.

  • Table Overflow - Page Break - Multiple tables in Body page in Adobe forms

    Hi,
I have to do a payslip in Adobe forms. I am using only Adobe for print forms.
Please redirect me to correct category if this is wrong category.
I am customizing standard form PYXXFO_SAP_PAYSLIP_IN01. (payslip for india through hrforms)
The standard form is entirely positional. So, if the contents of the table overflow, they are overwritten on the contents below.
So, I have to make corrections to adjust the payslip for table overflows.
    My changes:
    1. There are total 8 tables in form. I created content areas for each of them and assigned the subforms/tables to those content areas.
    2. I converted the body page from positional to flowed, and applied the related pagebreak settings.
    The problem I am facing:
When the earnings table overflows, the rest of the content is displayed on second page, in a continuous manner.
    eg.
The structure of the form is:
    Header details
earnings table   deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
now, if the earnings table overflows -
    page 1:
    Header details
    earnings table (page break)
    Page2:
    (continued)earnings table
    page3:
(continued)earnings table   deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
In this, the deduction table and form16 table is shown on 3rd page. I wish to show them on the first page as they have not overflown.
I am sure, I am missing something very small, but I am unable to understand what.
I tried all the possible combinations.
Does the main subform needs to be "positional"?
They way I expect it is:
    page 1:
    Header details
earnings table (page break)    deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
    Page2:
    {Header details - It would be great if I could have this}
    (continued)earnings table
    page3:
    {Header details}
    (continued)earnings table
Also, If this is successful, I would like to apply the same feature to rest 6-7 tables.

    This was a duplicate question.
Kindly remove this thread if possible.
The solution for this thread is as follows:
I was sort of hoping that there should be some standard functionality available for this, it being Adobe, but there is not.
So, I had to run a work around. Quite a lengthy one.
    What the problem was:
I needed to print around 4-5 tables adjacent to each other in single page and in verticals. What Adobe does is: it fills 1st table, then 2nd then 3rd and so on. So, if there is a page break due to large entries in the adobe, the contents breaks with rest of the tables being blank, but the content being filled sequentially.
    What I did was:
I created a grand table with the structure having all the tables embedded in it. eg.
data: begin of grand_table occrs 0,
    table_A type table_a_table_type,
    table_B type table_b_table_type,
    table_c type table_c_table_type,
    end of grand_table.
Hence, I could include all the data in a one single grand table, and put the data in sequential manner.

  • How do you set page breaks

I have a 250 row spreadsheet that needs to be divided by month. I cannot find a way to set page breaks. Am I missing something? I know I can add rows to make a page break but it is tedious and everything moves if add or remove a row.
However, If I wanted to make each month a separate sheet, is there a simple way to move to different sheets.
    Fran Wehman

    Jerry,
Thanks! I look forward to exploring numbers some more since it has some nifty features. I really do like that one can have several objects on the same sheet at the same time. And I admit that I probably have too much MS mindset. But there's a reason for that.
The dominance of MS is a classic case of a feed-forward loop, or amplification, where a marginal increase of market share (for spreadsheet products in this case) encourages users and other manufacturers of supporting and complementary products (software companies, in this case) to tacitly accept the leader's product as the standard. Every additional unit sold hardens the case in favor of the leader. I admire Apple for bucking the trend. But it is a dangerous game.
In my own case, Jerry, your suggestion doesn't seem workable to me because of the specifics involved. It's a rowing event. The competitors are boats, but the same team (rowing club) has a number of different boats in different races with different personnel. To break all of this down to individual athletes (over 1,000) creates several orders of magnitude more work than what I'm doing now. To complexify things, teams change their personnel in the boats all the time, which changes the age averages and the handicapping involved. And some rowers get cut from the boat at the last minute and new ones added. The basic unit is the boat (which come in various configurations, as you may know: the eights, the fours, the quads, the doubles, the pairs, the singles). Following your advice, I suppose I would make each event (aka each race) its own separate table. This could work, but it requires a lot of additional work, because I'm dealing with 1,000, athletes, 400 boat entries, and 54 events.
I should add that our registration contractor provides me with the raw data in (you guessed it) Excel format.Re-parsing all that data into a boating table and then referencing that into event tables is an astronomically bigger job than the one I already have. This is why Apple's is a dangerous game. It's absolutely fine to share my output with the rest of the world, especially when I can reformat it into Excel, but I also have to deal with the output of co-workers, contractors, etc., which is more likely than not going to be in Excel. With Numbers, Apple has been trying to lure away folks from Excell by offering neat features. They really are neat. But Apple has to do something more. It has to minimize the cost (in terms of sunk labor inputs and additional effort) of flipping from a world dominated by MS. I believe it can, but it has to be able to meet its consumers where they are--stuck in an MS reality--and make the very real labor costs of converting go away, not just add neat features to entice. We all like those features. But they don't make the headache of conversion go away.
