Missing pairing record

I have been having this problem for a few days now. When I connect my iPhone to iTunes, I keep getting the message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because the pairing record is missing". Once i restart my computer and connect the iPhone it shows up in itunes, but as soon as i sync and disconnect, then try to reconnect, it says the same thing. Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this because I haven't be able to get much help. Has anyone else had this problem?

I would suggest that if you have any type of antispyware/antivirus programs running on your computer, deactivate them then try and connect your iphone. This was my problem, my spysweeper was preventing my pairing record from being saved. I had more than one antivirus program so I uninstalled them and now I'm just running my anti-virus and antispyware from one program and that did the trick for me. I didn't have to reformat or restore my entire computer. Most likely it's a problem with another program that's not allowing the pairing record to be saved. If you see that your iphone connects without that particular antivirus/antispyware enabled, then it may be that program that's causing the interference. Try it and see if it helps. It was a long process for me. I was on the phone with Iphone support rep for almost 3 hours to get this problem resolved.

    MISSING PAIRING RECORD
This is the error when I try to sync my iPhone with iTunes, reading other topics I tried without succes to:
    - reinstall iTunes;
    - put the iPhone into DFU mode;
    - create a new library
But I'm sure that it's a problem with my iTunes or my Mac, 'cause I've tried to connect it to another Mac and everything it's OK... but it's not mine, I need to sync my address book, iCall and my library too.
    Please help me,
    I cannot find a solution.
    THANX!

  • Linking iphone and new computer - missing pairing record

    Hi,
I recently had a mechanical hard drive failure in my old laptop and now need to link my iphone so it can sync with ym new computer.  I am not able to do it however as i keep getting a message that i hve a "missing pairing record"
Is there a way to connect the two devices so i can sync my phone.

I'm not familiar with that message myself, but perhaps something in this user tip will help: Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. I suspect the error is something to do with the syncing of contact & calendar info. You may need to create dummy records in each to trigger a sync or replace prompt.

  • New PC - Missing Pairing Record

I have a new PC and copied all the MY Music from the old to the new PC.  When connecting my iPhone I get a missing pairing record message.

    Hi wwolfe01,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
To resolve the error you're seeing, I'd start with reinstalling iTunes on your new PC:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

You may also want to check for software conflicts using this article:

    7. Reset the Lockdown folder
Resetting the Lockdown folder can resolve issues with starting the backup session or saving the backup. If you can back up in a new user, do not reset the Lockdown folder. Issues with the Lockdown folder occur across all users; they are not user-specific. Follow these steps to reset the Lockdown folder:
    Windows Vista or Windows 7
Disconnect all iOS devices from your computer and quit iTunes.
Open Computer from the Start menu.
Choose Organize > Folder and search options in the file browser window, then click the View tab and change the "Hidden files and folders" option to "Show hidden files and folders."
    Click OK.
Navigate to the following folder on your computer:
    C:\ProgramData\Apple
Move the Lockdown folder to the Recycle bin.
Reconnect your iOS device and open iTunes.
    Regards,
    Jeremy

  • Chronic Missing Pairing Record Message

Recently I have started getting a message that iTunes cannot sync with my iPad because the pairing record is missing.  If memory serves me correctly iTunes is already up on the computer (Windows 7).  Shutting down and restarting iTunes "fixes" it for a while.  This is quite annoying.  I've seen several other "fixes" in this forum, but I couldn't find any that permanently fixes this problem.  Anyone out there know why this problem keeps recurring and have a permanent solution?  Thank you.

I have had the same problem with both my iPhone 4s and iPad (original). In each case, I left the device attached and iTunes running while I ran some errands (iPad) or overnight (iPhone) and found the issue resolved itself and the device synced (revised apps downloaded) in due time. No computer restart or iTunes restart was performed.
I honestly don't know how long it took in each case because I wasn't monitoring the situation all that closely. I also realize this  solution isn't fast enough for many people. I plan to try other suggestions I saw about deleting certain files from ~Library/Preferences the next time I have the problem.

  • Error:  "pairing record is missing"

When i try to set up and sync with itunes i get "itunes cannot connect to ipod because pairing record is missing"
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Ted

I got the same error tonight.
Was having some odd problems with my iPod touch (16GB, v1.1.3 with January software upgrade) occasionally changing the date and time to Dec. 31, 1969, also getting stuck in caps lock mode, so I decided to restore.
First attempt at a restore failed. Second attempt looked like it succeeded, with a message that came up after the firmware restore that said the iPod would reappear in iTunes after it finished restarting. After a long wait, the iPod restarted with the "connect to iTunes" image, then went black. A short time later, a window popped up with the message about the missing pairing record.
Two, three or four attempts at disconnecting and reconnecting the cable all resulted in the same error message. I started writing this post, in fact, to report I was stuck with the same unusable iPod, when I reconnected the cable to make sure I had the wording of the error message correct.
Wouldn't you know? It connected just fine, asked me if I wanted to restore my settings and at the moment is syncing back all my music and movies. I'll return here if I see any more problems, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all's well.

  • Pairing record iPad iOS 6

After buying latest iPad to replace the iPad 1 and getting help at the Store to transfer iCloud files, iTunes Match fails-crashes saying Match is busy with records from another computer (there has only ever been this one Windows 7 PC) and when I connect the iPad via USB, iTunes says there's a missing pairing record... huh? Totally snarled at this point. (the author has been using Apple devices since II, writing production test programs since Lisa and using iTunes since first release and he's stumped also.)

I responded to the other discussion that you posted in a little earlier. This is what I wrote in the other thread.
I have seen the error message that you are referring to. It is something like "the pairing record is missing".
Try this. Quit iTunes, restart your computer, restart your computer and try another USB port on your computer. Then see if the iPad will sync.
