Missing/partial prints & Printer Offline on Windows 8/8.1

Hello fellow community members! I have come across an issue with some HP printers and the Windows 8 /8.1 Operating System. Below are some common issues the troubleshooting steps in this Thread will cover;
 Printer Offline
Printer does not print multi page documentsPrinter will Print a test page, but not sent documentsPrinter stops printing in the middle of a print jobWith the help from JonW and his instructions, I wanted to compile a post for this issue starting with a functional work around. Firstly - There are a few windows updates that may help with this problem. 1)    Install this Microsoft patch to make sure this private-public-private network issue does not reoccur. It is part of the April 2014 Windows Update package for Windows 8.1 and Server2012 R2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355). 2)      Install this Microsoft patch for the WSD service.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3000461 If this does not help, then please follow the steps list below which will give you a Workaround that may help with this problem. Assign the printer a static IP address An IP address is an Internet network address that the computer can use to communicate with the printer. Enter a static IP address to make sure that the wireless connection remains stable. Follow these steps to assign the printer a static IP address.Get the printer IP address.Press the Wireless button on the printer control panel to view the network settings.Access the Network menu on the printer control panel.Print a Network Configuration Page or Wireless Test Report page.Once you have the printer's IP address, open a new web browser window or tab.Type the IP address in your web browser's address bar, and then press Enter.Make sure that you type the IP address into the browser's address box. If you type it into a tool bar search box, the EWS will not open.If the message 'There is a problem with this website's security certificate' appears in the web browser when you try to open the embedded web server (EWS), or when you navigate within the EWS, click ' Continue to this website (not recommended)'. note:Choosing ' Continue to this website (not recommended)' will not harm your computer while you navigate within the EWS for your printer. If you encounter this error outside of your printer's EWS, your computer could be at risk. If the browser fails to open the EWS after you click ' Continue to this website (not recommended)', refresh the browser window. The Embedded Web Server (EWS) for the printer opens and confirms that the printer is on the same network as the computer. In the EWS, click the Network tab.In the Wireless section, click the Network Address (IP) or IPv6 configuration, depending on your network setup.Click Manual IP, and then click Suggest a Manual IP Address. A manual IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway displays. After the manual IP address populates, click Manual DNS Server. note:Keep a record of the manual IP address for reference. On the Network Configuration Page you printed earlier, locate the DNS Server addresses, type the DNS addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply. If the DNS addresses are not listed on the Network Configuration Page, or if you have trouble accessing the network or Internet with the original DNS addresses, use one of the following methods to obtain DNS addresses. Method one: Use publicly available DNS server addressesConfigure the printer using publicly available DNS server addresses. To find available DNS server addresses, search online for 'public DNS servers'.After you find public DNS server addresses, type the addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply. Method two: Get the network DNS information via your computerSelect your operating system, and then use the following directions to obtain the DNS server addresses.Right-click the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Run, type cmd, and then press Enter. When the command window opens, type ipconfig /all, and then press Enter. Information about the computer's network displays.Scroll to and locate the DNS Server addresses. In the EWS, type the DNS addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.Print a test page to make sure that the printer's IP address is the same as you assigned.Right-click the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, type HP and click your printer in the results. Click Utilities, and then click Update IP address to update the address in the software. Adding a Wireless Network Printer using Control Panel Go to Control Panel and choose Devices and PrintersClick on Add Printer   The PC will search the local network and display the network printers.Choose the printer and select Next  The system will then try and auto select a compatible driver  Select the current driver and Click Next   The system will then ask for a name for the printer. The user can change the name and then click Next    The User can then choose to share the printer    The user can select to make this new printer the default and then click Finish.  The new printer is now setup but this printer will be using the In OS driver (Class) rather than the HP Full Function driver. To change the printer to use the HP Full Function driver follow the following instructions. I would recommend changing the driver to the HP Full Function driver as the User can then use features such as Custom paper sizes.Go back into Control Panel and choose devices and Printers, right click on the newly created printer and choose Printer Properties      Choose the Advanced Tab      Click on the driver section drop down and choose the Driver for the printer that does not have the words Class driver after it.       Click apply and then OK and the driver will be changed to the HP Full Function driver for the printer. The user should try this configuration and see if they still experience problems. Printing should not be an issue any more. Please let me know your feed back and if these steps helped. Best of luck and happy printing. Cheers,

Hi tkh2014, At this time I would like you to ensure that all available updates are installed on the computer. refer to this YouTube video if you need help checking:  If the updates are all installed or do not help, I would like you to attempt to restore the computer to point in time prior the two week mark the issue started. To restore your PC to an earlier point in timeSwipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.

  • "printer is offline" appears on one computer but not the other (both windows 7)

printer is offline" appears on one computer but not the other (both windows 7)

This is pretty common to see when your firewall kicks in and blocks certain communication paths the printer takes.
Here's a list of ports and programs that when allowed through the firewall, will restore communiction.
    Ports to open:
    UDP ports: 427, 161, 139
    TCP ports: 9200, 9220, 9290, 9500
    Programs to allow:
    hpiscnapp.exe
    hpoews01.exe
    hpofxm08.exe
    hposfx08.exe
    hposid01.exe
    hpqkygrp.exe
    hpqste08.exe
    hpqtra08.exe
    hpznui01.exe
    hpzwiz01.exe
SLP_Service (also known as UDP 427)
Have your security software provider walk you through allowing these items through your firewall.
If this does not fix your issue, it is most likely an issue with the driver configuration. Your router may have assisgned the printer a new IP address and this can be changed in the properties of the existing driver.

  • Printer is offline when I try to printer since upgrade to Windows 10

I upgraded to windows 10 and now when I try to print it says printer is offline.  Does my printer work with win 10. Also mine is wireless printer.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see that your printer is offline since you upgraded to Windows 10. I will certainly do my best to help you. The Full Feature Software and Driver is available for your printer for Windows 10. I believe we need to update the driver to get it to work. Please download and run the Print and Scan Doctor, it will likely diagnose and resolve the issue you are experiencing. What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)If the Print and Scan Doctor tells you to install the HP Software for your printer. Please go here, and use the Printer Install Wizard to get the latest HP Software for your printer.  Alternatively, you can download and install the latest HP Software here. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck!

  • Windows 8 CP1025nw Printer stays offline

I do not know squat about windows 8 other than my opinion of it which is not good. I managed to get the printer installed to print wirelessly, now all of the sudden it's just always offline.
I read somewhere to change the IP address to a static one but that post has zero information on how to actually do that. I know the printer is online because when I connect to the network I can print test pages to it, but I can only do that from the print dialogue the printer does not come up in any printer lists.  So If I go to the device webpage it will print from there but only the test pages (I'm sorry if I'm not making sense I'm frustrated and about blind from doing this crap today)
The driver that installed is for CP1020 not the CP1025nw when I try downloading and installing the full software package it fails every time, doesn't matter if I try to set it up to print to the network, wirelessly or USB, it just fails. I thought maybe the current download package wasn't set up for windows 8 so I also downloaded the drivers alone thinking that might help and again nothing. I've attempted 10 times to install and set it up just today (and it's been more than today that I've messed with it).
The printer shows everything is fine, when I run diganostics on the computer everything is fine. But the printer is just showing offline continually.
I read somewhere else too that I could reset the print spooler, but on windows 8 I can't even find that.  I am typically great with computers and figuring out issues, and this has honestly left me wanting to rip out my own teeth as I am sure it would be less painful.
    Can anyone help?

  • HP 6600 Scan\Print Driver Issue for Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

    Hello,
For some time now I have been unable to scan or print from my desktop (Windows 7 Professional 64bit) and I have exhausted too much effort and am now bringing it to the masses.
    The problem:
Printing:  Currently receiving an "Error - Offline" message in my printer queue at all times.
Scanning:  Scanning has never fully worked on this desktop. I am always unable to communicate with the printer. (Though webscan works through accessing the printers IP address)
    Things I have tried:
Ran HPPSDr, followed directions (Unpluged power to printer, turn back on, restart computer) brings me to this website after it cannot fix. (Note that while the HPPSDr is running it always notions that there is a driver problem)
Uninstalled Drivers from CD-ROM, re-installed, countless times
Installed "Windows 7 Pro 64 bit drivers" from the HP website and uninstalled, countless times.
Attempted to set a static IP and use "Update IP Address" to point specifically at the printers IP.
Installed Drivers and finding the printer myself through it's own static IP address.
Turned off firewall and attempted to print (after reboot), same errors
Setting up the printer on all of my laptops (3) wirelessly to attempt to find if there is a problem with the printer or static IP. (1 is Windows VISTA 32bit and the other 2 are Ubuntu 32bit). All laptops are able to use the printer wirelessly without any problems.
Read all of the forums about this issue and attempted all of the 'solutions'. Although I mostly don't see that anyone with this same problem is resolved, unless I'm missing the perfect post.
    Things I have not tried:
Plugging the USB directly into the desktop. (This seems self defeating as the purpose for this printer was to be able to print wirelessly to it from across the room)
Re-installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit (Trying to avoid this, would rather just print from laptops)
    You tell me
    Curiosities:
I have noticed strange things that make me believe the driver is somehow incomptable with my OS. Here is a shot of the properties of the printer:
Weird that it is not recognizing the model number.
Also in the Printer Settings when I go to the port tab, there is no port selected, if I try and tab away it forces me to select a port, yet when I do and 'apply' and then re-open the Printer Settings in the ports tab; it has again unselected the previously selected port.
    Theories:
I feel like my OS is just refusing to notice the IP address for the wireless printer, no matter what I have it set to, even if it's dynamic. It's like the driver for Windows 7 Pro 64bit is actually not the correct driver for my system.
Anyways, another thing to mention is that I am not currently willing to wipe my operating system and re-install Windows 7 Pro in order to resolve this just yet. I want to see if anyone else has any other avenues I can try before even beginning to consider that.
Anyways, thanks in advance for taking the time to read my ramblings and hopefully someone who has resolved this issue can help me.

    Hi Zerosouls,
I understand you are having an issue with HP 6600 Scan\Print Driver Issue for Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
First try to click the Windows icon, type services in the Search box, and then click or tap View Local Services. Scroll down to the Windows Installer. Startup type should be - Automatic, and Service Status should be - started
Restart the computer after this step and try installing Hp Officejet 6600 again.
Please let me know what happens
    Thanks

  • HP LaserJet 600 M602 printer goes offline every night

    Hi,
I have a HP LaserJet 600 M602 CE991A printer on a wired network. I have quite a few other printers on the network as well and do not show me this kind of behavior.
But for some reason, this printer, from as soon as I bought it, goes offline every time from around 5.20-5.30pm to around 8.30pm. I have a ping tester running as I am trying to figure out what's going on and I got 100% drop every night for that time period.
I looked to see if there was a setting that puts this device to sleep or so but no, I cant find anything. I have tried with the energy setting sleep mode on or off, wake up events to trigger a wake up call to the printer but no luck.
    Firmware Bundle Version3.2.5
    Firmware Revision2302908_435019
    Firmware Date Code20140529
I am out of options, in our other locations, we have sam printer but a CE993A models and they do not show this kind of behavior at all.
I am at a deadlock here.

    Hi @Halan ,
I see by your post that you aren't able to print when the laptop isn't in the same area as the printer. I would like to help you out today.
What is the distance of the printer and the Laptop when the printer goes offline?

  • Printer is offline all the time! Help!

My wireless HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw goes offline all of the time.  We have printed the wireless configuration pages that state that there is not a problem and that the printer is connected with a good signal.  We can print off our phones wirelessly (anywhere in our house), but the printer does not seem to communicate with our Dell Inspiron (crappy Windows 8).

    Hi @fcu ,
I see that printer keeps going offline on the computer, but you can still print using your phones wirelessly.
I can help you with this.
Most likely the router reassigned the printer a new IPv4 address and the computer isn't recognizing it.
Print a configuration page to get the printer's IPv4 address.
    Printing a Configuration Report.
If you have a valid IP address for the printer then try and access the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
Type the IP address into your web browser's address bar. (Internet Explorer)
If it loads the printer's network page then the printer is on the network.
Check the port showing on the computer, to make sure it matches the printer's IPv4 address.
Go to the start up screen, (tiles menu) type in "Devices and Printers", select settings, click on Devices and Printers.
Right click on the printer and left click printer properties, select the ports tab.
Click on configure port to view the IPv4 address.
If the IPv4 address doesn't match the printer's IPv4, then create a new port with the new IPv4 address.
    Close the configure port window.
Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
Type in the proper IPv4 address for the printer.
Make sure the printer is online.
    Test the printer.
If the problem persists, follow the steps in this document for the printer being offline.
'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the HP Printer Will Not Print.
I would also setup a Static IP address, to the router will assign the same IP address.
Printer Does Not Maintain a Wireless Connection.
Disregard the title. Go to Solution three: Assign the printer a static IP address.
    Let me know the outcome.
    Have a wonderful day!

  • 8500 Premier All-in-One printer drops offline

Periodically my wireless printer drops offline and I cannot print.  This happens randomly on different PCs on the wireless network.  Usually restarting the print spooler on the PC that cannot print solves the problem but sometimes I need to shut the printer down and restart it.  While that generally clears the problem the printer gives me a warning that it had been shutdown improperly, even though I used the on/off button.  Various PCs on the network are running Windows XP and Windows 7 -- all have this problem.

The printer does not disconnect from the network as far as I can tell as other PCs can still print and the Network report from the printer control panel shows me an IP addressl.  It just goes offilne for for pne user.  In XP we can see the "Printer Offline" status and click "Use online" but that is harder to find in Windows 7.
I have not upgraded firmware or software recently.  I had a problem installitng and the HP Solution Center tells me it cannt run as my device installation is not complete.  I have donwloaded and tried to install OJP8500vA909_Full_14.exe several times with no success.  I also have HP_Smart_Web_Printing_v4.6.exe and hppiw.exe -- not sure if they are still installed.

  • HP Photosmart Premium c309g wireless network printing problem with 64bit Windows 7

A problem exists where the c309g is installed on a wireless network where one of the PCs on the network is running 64bit Windows 7.  Amongst other things, the printer may print very slowly, appear disconnected or unavailable through the HP Solutions Centre and may not be pingable from any of the PCs on the network.  The problem will affect ALL the PCs on the network !
Network monitoring software will also show an enormous level of network traffic between the printer and the Windows 7 PC.  As soon as the Windows 7 PC is switched off, everything returns to normal.
    The problem is solved by disabling the HP Network Devices Support Service on the Windows 7 PC as follows;
Run services.msc from the Run command on the Windows 7 PC.  This will display the list of all the local services running on the PC together with Description, Status and Startup Type information for  each.
Scroll down the list until you see the HP Network Devices Support Service.
Right click on it and select Properties to bring up the Properties window.
Use the dropdown list to Change the Startup Type to Disabled.
Once disabled, the printer will start to work normally.  HP are aware of this problem which may be unique to the 64bit version of Windows 7.

Thanks but no luck... I tried it..... Got back from son's baseball game.. checked on printer - as in tried to have printer print something... nothing...   prior to going out I went ahead and deleted the 6  c309 print devices and reinstalled a new one and got the printer to work...  after the game it was back to ignoring print commands...  When I go to printers there again are 6 print devices for this printer - one titled HP Photsmart Premium C309 g-m... then 4 copies of that and then one version titled HP0AC58C (HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m).
As I just finished writting that... the printer came alive and started printing some previous jobs... so maybe it helped - not sure but what about the 6 versions of print devices?   I just checked the statuses of all the versions and the default is offline... the various copies have different amounts in que but have a pending status of pending deletion...  When I tried to make one of the other copies the default printer - it errors out with  0x00000709

  • Printer getting offline

Printer getting offline. They are able to use  Printer once they are connected to Local LAN(printers there are added locally using IP), they are using  VPN Cisco Any connect. Whenever users wants to  take
printouts they have to  disconnect from VPN then only they can fire the prints.
user are facing this  issue  while disconnecting from VPN the local printer also  gets offline, user has to reboot the machine to take a print every time.

    Hi svigneshh,
The main issue is that disconnecting the printer from VPN will affect the other printers ,right ?
First of all ,I would suggest you to check the status of the printer spooler service (Serivce.msc) after disconnecting the printer from the VPN .
We also can try the following fixit tool to have a automatical diagnostic.
Diagnose and fix printer and printing problems automatically
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/printing_problems/en-us
According to the symptom ,we can try to configure the following group policies to isolate the printer to have a check .
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Printers\Execute Print Drivers in Isolated Processes  ,Override Print Driver Execution Compatibility Setting Reported by Print Driver
Here is a link for reference of the two policies.
Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2: Print Driver Isolation
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2009/10/08/windows-7-windows-server-2008-r2-print-driver-isolation.aspx
To troubleshoot this issue futher ,we could try to work without the VPN to verify whether it is related to the VPN .

With only one cartridge light blinking I would suspect the cartridge, they do rarely fail (much more often for reman cartridges, see here).  Clean the cartridge contascts as shown here.  If that fails and the cartridge is an original HP then check the warranty date as shown here.  If the cartridge is in warranty return it to your dealer for a warranty replacement.
The printer will automatically switch to backup mode if the black (or color in some printers) cartridge is removed.  I do not know if this works with the PSC 1510, some all-in-on devices insist on having both cartridges present.

  • Some PDF Documents are Missing Letters when Printing

We use a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (64-bit) server as our print server. Ever since we moved our printers to this server, several of our existing PDF documents have missing letters when they print. If you modify your print properties and choose "Print as Image", the documents print correctly with no missing letters.
The missing letters seem to come in specific combinations, such as ti, ft, fa, etc.
Our previous print server was a Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) machine and these documents all printed fine on that server.
Are there any known issues with printing PDF documents on a 64-bit print server, or with 64-bit drivers?
    Thank you for your time,
    Jason

This response will hopefully help you towards a solution—I have not encountered the specific problem you are facing.
The image you posted shows the fonts that are embedded in your document: both Calibri and Myriad Pro. However, the second instance of Calibri indicates that some some of the Calibri characters were encoded differently, and I suspect based on the combo characters you listed, these are glyphs and are what your printer is having trouble processing.
The usual solution for print server issues is to make sure all drivers and firmware are updated.
The answer to your question regarding embedding fonts completely is to change your Adobe pdf print preferences to embed all fonts, not just a subset. This must be done when the pdf is being created initially. You can change font embedding by choosing a joboption like Press Quality that includes full font embedding or by modifying the joboption you are already using. In Windows, you can do this at the time of print by selecting the Advanced button next to the printer selection dropdown and changing settings there, in advance by modifying the printing preferences from your printers menu, or by editing the joboptions in Acrobat Distiller.
