Missing PDFMaker-files - Acrobat 7.0 / Office 2010

Hi,
I have a problem to create PDF files from Office documents.
Acrobat Professional 7.1.0
Microsoft Office Professional 2010
I get the error message "missing PDFMaker files".
Office 2010 is a new installation. With my old Office 2003 I had no problems.
I tried to activate/deactivate the Office Add-ins and change the security options.
I tried to register the PDFMOfficeAddin.dll in my system32 folder (I can't register the other DLLs).
I tried to contact the telephone support, but my version is too old.
Does anyone know what I can do? Or do I need an update?
Thanks!

I had this problem on a Vista PC.
I only required Excel to work. but im sure its a similar process for Word etc.
I was still able to make PDF's with the 'Adobe PDF' printer function.
Click File
Click Options
Click Add-Ins
Select 'Acrobat PDF Maker Office .COM Addin'
From the Dropbox at the bottom select "Excel Addins"
- Click Go
- UN-SELECT Any Acrobat or PDFMaker listing
From the Dropbox at the bottom select "COM Addins"
- Click Go
- Check the box "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin" IS selected
- If NOT.. Click Add and browse to
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll"
- If your version is NOT 10.0 it will be a different folder ie 7.0 8.0 etc
From the Dropbox at the bottom select "Disabled Items"
- Click Go
- Make sure PDFMaker is NOT disabled
This fix may seem trivial however i spent a long time working on this problem.
I tried different versions
I manually removed Acrobat http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400658.html
I updated Office
I played with Macro security settings in Office
I tried different PDF settings in Distiller
All of this did nothing.
Remove it from the Excel Add-in
Leave it in the COM Add-in
I had no problems with Windows 7. Just Vista
I hope this works for someone else too.

  • Acrobat X bug - stuck in cycle - "missing pdfmaker files" "do you want to run the installer"

    Hello,
I just installed Acrobat X on a Windows 7 X 64 with office 2010 x 64 install.    I can print from within office to PDF, however if I right click on a document in explorer and attempt to convert to PDF without opening office, I get "missing pdfmaker files" "do you want to run the installer in repair mode" right after I give it a file name.   If ignore, it won't print.   If I try to fix by running the installer in repair mode, it does some install process but it still gives me the same error.   Nothing shows up in the event viewer.  I tried to run an acrobat update but is says no updates are available.  I have tried uninstalling and downloading the trial version - it has the same issue

    Acrobat X PDFMaker supports 32-bit Office 2010.
With 64-bit Office 2010 you should be able to use the Adobe Printer; but, for PDFMaker functionality you'll need Office 2010 32-bit.

  • Acrobat X: Missing PDFMaker files

    Hi,
    just installed Acrobat X on my Win7 x64 and Office 2010 x64.
Whenever I open a .doc file I get this message: Missing PDFmaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode.
I have tried the repair. Didn't work.

I am here because I have the same problem.  And I am not happy about it.
Yes, you can open your Office 2010 product and save or print to pdf, but it is your office product doing the work, not Adobe.  This is NOT a solution and I give it absolutely no points.  It is a workaround and terribly inefficient.  We don't even need to own this product since Office 2010 is making the pdf's for us and not Adobe.  We should not even be experiencing this problem.
    I agree with bob22590 -- this is not 1910!
So, Adobe, when do you expect to fix this major defect?  I upgraded a perfectly good working copy of Acrobat that's only shortcoming was that it didn't work with Office 2010.  Well, frankly this upgrade is no better except that I am out a lot of $$.
I have been an avid and loyal paying fan of Adobe for years.  Please assure us that the problem is being fixed.
    Thank you,

  • Missing PDFMaker Files in Acrobat 9

    Hi everyone,
I am helping someone with a problem who has received this message while he tries to create a PDF by using Acrobat Pro 9.
He clicks on create pdf from file, selects the file, and then it begins to create.  But it then gives the error message "Missing PDFMaker files" and asks to run a repair.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.  I have even logged in under my own profile and can make the PDFs with no issue, the error does not come up for me.  I have also tried to run the repair it asks.
Aside from re-creating his profile (last resort), what can I do to correct this?
    Thanks for your help!

    Dear Sabian:
Answering both your emails. I have no problems making PDFs. Acrobat is fully operating. It is a problem that occurs only in some of the longer documents when the pages do not break the same as in the original WORD. Pages in the WORD document consistently end at 48 pi.
I am using Acrobat Pro 9. I am using WORD in Office 10. I created the PDF by selecting it when right  clicking on the document icon. Previously I successfully changed the page trim size (originally it created the PDF in letter size – but I am using a custom 6 x 9 inch page.)
    Thanks for your help.

  • CS3 Error Msg: Missing PDFMaker Files...

    Hi,
I installed CS3 and when I tried to use Acrobat Pro I got the following error message:
" Missing PDFMaker Files.  Do you want to run in the repair mode?"
If I say "yes" nothing happens.  If I say "no" nothing happens.  What can I do to use my software?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
    Kathy

As Bill stated, you can print to PDF using the Adobe PDF printer. No "interactive" features with this. Just page content painted to the PDF.
Or, with Office 2010, try the Save As PDF capability.
If you desire the use of PDFMaker you most change to Acrobat X. Update it to 3.1.0.
    Acrobat X (3.1.0) PDFMaker supports Office 2010 64-bit.
    See: See: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html
n.b,. Don't know, but, there may be possible issues with Acrobat X integration (if any) with the other applications of CS3.
You'd want to ask about this in the CS forums.

  • Missing PDFMaker file

Used Acrobat 8 Standard the last 2 years without problems. Now cannot creat a PDF file in Microdoft Excel, get always "Missing PDFMaker file"

We are using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI with Office 2010 and we are getting this same issue on some systems, not all. I have tried the uninstall/re-install of both products to no avail. also tried checing the Add-ins in office but PDF Maker is not disabled, In the trust center in outlook, checked there  and it is not disabled there, Manually registered the file pdfmofficeaddin.dll succesfully, but this did not fix the problem and tried running the repair function from programs and features. As I mentioned before, This is not on all systems, but it is on several.

  • I keep getting the error message "Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode"

I keep getting the error message "Missing PDFMaker files  Do you want to run the installer in repair mode"when I try to convert a file into a pdf.  I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling but I continue to get the message.  I am able directly print file, but there are some errors in the pages, but some of them have font errors. Please advise.

    Hey Suzanne,
Could you please let me know what Acrobat version are you using and what kind of file are you trying to convert to PDF.
If you are using an MS Office application, then PDF Maker has to be an active plug-in for the PDF conversion.
Have you tried using Print to PDF option from the File menu for the same?
Please check and then let me know.

  • PDFMaker failing Acrobat=7 XPpro Office=2003

Something happened yesterday and I am left with 2 of 3 ways to make a PDF file no longer working. Was working, now not
working. But with auto updates running who can tell if it was the OS, Adobe, or Office that dropped the ball.
    Symptoms:
    A) I can no longer use right-click to "Convert to Adobe PDF", I get the "Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the
installer in repair mode?" modal dialog box.
B ) When I open Word my "Adobe PDF" menu at the top no longer contains any elements. "Acrobat Comments" has elements.
    C) in Word selecting File / Print / Adobe PDF works and it does generate a PDF file that can be read elsewhere. I
    understand that this uses Distiller.
    Versions:
    J) Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0.9
    K) Microsoft Office Word 2003(11.8202.8202) SP3
    L) XP Pro version 2002 SP2
    M) Microsoft Update reports "No high-priority updates for your computer..." as of 4/17/2008 11:31 PST

  • Installed Adobe Pro X now unable to convert PDF - Missing PDFMaker Files

    Hello,
I installed the trial version of Adobe Pro X and now I am unable to convert a Microsoft Word.doc file to .pdf.  The error message is 'Missing PDFMaker Files.  Do you want to run the installer to repair mode?'  I ran the installer, twice, with the same resulting error message.  (Am currently using Windows XP Pro along with Microsoft 2003 - and will upgrade in the new year.)  I searched this issue, and found the following:
To manage your Disabled Items list in a Microsoft Office application:
Open the Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel, Publisher).
Choose Help > About [the application name].
    Click Disabled Items.
Select Adobe PDF from the list, and then click Enable.
Quit the Microsoft Office application, and then restart it.
However, there are no applications in the list, including Adobe.
    I also tried this:
If the error message continues to appear after you enable Adobe PDF, check the security level for macros in Microsoft Word:
Choose Tools > Macro > Security.
In the Security dialog, click the Security tab.
    Choose Medium or High.
    Do one of the following:
If you chose Medium, then click OK.
If you chose High, then continue with steps 5 through 7.
    Click the Trusted Publishers tab.
Check Trust all installed add-ins and templates.
    Click OK.
And Adobe is already there, so no change here.
I have uninstalled the trial version, deleted what visible remnants I could find, restarted the computer, installed the trial version again and am getting the same error message.
Is there a solution to this problem?  Or, should I just return to my Adobe Pro 7?
    Thank you in advance!
    Laura

I recently bought and installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro thinking that X Pro was compatable with Windows XP. I am unable to convert any Microsoft Office 2003 file into a PDF. I receive the same error message as above ( "Missing PDFMaker Files") and tried running it in repair mode as suggested. No change.
    I've tried this stuff:
    Click OK.
    But there is no change.
    Please help!!!

  • Missing PDFMaker Files

I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional installed and Microsoft Office 2007.  When I right-click on a Word document and click "Convert to PDF" it gives me an error that I am missing PDFMaker files and will not convert the file.  I have ran a repair of Adobe and also have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe, which neither worked.  I have also checked the MS Word Add-Ins and PDFMaker is enabled.  Any suggestions?

I was having the same problem.  The only workaround I could figure out was to print to adobe pdf for each word 2007 file individually (I know, time consuming) and then you can combine the documents in a single pdf using create pdf from multiple files.
Kind of a pain, but it's working for me (and cheaper than upgrading!)

  • HELP! ERROR MESSAGE: Missing PDFMaker Files

    Hello-
My Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 has been running perfectly fine for over a year now. However, today I went to create a pdf. and I received the following error message:
    Missing PDFMaker Files
Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?
So I said yes, and then restarted my computer. That didn't fix it.
I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Professional and re-installed it. That didn't fix it.
I really have no idea what to do. It's extremely frustrating because I have CS2 and the phone support people said they couldn't help me because I don't have the newer version. I'm looking for any sort of solution to this problem because it makes this program virtually useless.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?

I just installed Adobe Acrobat 8. I am running XP and Office 2003. When I am trying to create a PDF file, from multiple files (combine files option), I get the error, "Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?"
I choose YEs, and it install something and then restarts, but it still does not work. Same thing happens every time. Thanks for your help!!!!

What sort of files are you trying to combine. My suggestion is to make your life simple. Create the pdfs separately, then combine the resulting pdf files.

  • Convert DWF to PDF "Missing PDFMaker files" error

I am trying to convert an Autocad DWF file to Adobe PDF using the right click "convert to adobe pdf option" but keep getting the error message of 'missing PDFMaker files". I have tried the repair option on my installation of Adobe Acrobat 8.2.2 but this makes no difference.
If i open the file in Autocad Design Review and select print to the Adobe printer the file converts to PDF fine. however can't do it from right click on the file.
Does anyone know which PDFMaker files I need to enable this function. I can use Office files ok in this way and looking at Adobe compatibility lists appears that should work fine with DWF files.
    Thanks

If you open AutoCAD, do you have the Adobe menu for PDF Maker? If not, you need to get that working before you play with the right click option. In the meantime, you should be able to print to the Adobe PDF printer.

  • Missing PDFMaker Files 7.0

I have Windows XP, Office 2007 and Acrobat 7.0 Standard. I am attempting to create a pdf by combining multiple files. Each time I attempt to assemble my document the following message appears: "Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode? Yes or No."
After selecting "Yes" it appears that the missing files load and my machine reboots. When I attempt to combine the files again, the same message appears so I am stuck in this loop.
I am able to combine the files using docu printier but I would like to solve this problem of the missing PDFMaker files.
    Please provide assistance.
    Thank you,
    Joanne

Bill's right - Acrobat 7 is not compatible with Word 2007.
You either have to move to a later version of Acrobat or you could try using the Microsoft Office Add-in which enables saving a Word doc as PDF or XPS. It's at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4D951911-3E7E-4AE6-B059-A2E79ED8 7041&displaylang=en and is extremely quick but it doesn't have very many customisation options.
We tried the Office add-in for a while but it wasn't flexible enough for our purposes so we moved to Acrobat 8.
