Missing photo albums

I have lost all the 2011 photo albums.  Are they available through photoshop backup?

Same thing happened to me, I am so frustrated, I regret so much doing the upgrade. I have more than 9,000 photos on my iPad, I had them perfectly organized in albums by date since 2002. Now I just have like 10 albums. Really Apple, you need to help us. There is no way I can recreate so many albums out of the 9,000 pictures. I do not have a back up on iTunes. I use iCloud only.
Please HELP!

  • IWeb missing photo albums

    Hi all,
My .mac subscription expired yesterday. I chose to purchase hosting services with Mecca and used Fetch to upload the iWeb data to www.walterafable.com. Everything seems okay, EXCEPT when you go to the Photo Album page, only 1 of the 6 albums shows up. Anyone else experiencing this or anything similar? Where should I look to troubleshoot? The uploaded data mirrors my local folder--I don't get it.
    thanks in advance,
    Walter

I think I found the issue, and you, Cyclosaurus put me on the right track:
The following link does not work:
    http://www.walterafable.com/site/PhotoAlbums/Pages/Fall_Festival_files/Media/IMG0508/mip.jpg
    And this link DOES work:
    http://www.walterafable.com/site/PhotoAlbums/Pages/Fall_Festival_files/Media/img0508/mip.jpg
SOMEHOW, when Fetch uploaded the Media folders, the case of the leading letters of the folder names changed from lower case to upper case and vice versa. The reason why the last album seems to work, as far as I can tell, is that those folder names only contain numbers.
Someone much smarter than me knows exactly why this happens but my hunch is that it is some cross-platform glitch that obviously .mac avoids.
So I'm either going to rename all of my photos to file names with numbers only or try a different method of uploading the files, CaptainFTP or simply using the Finder >Go>Connect to Server... option.
    I will post the results.

Sorry...I don't know what you mean by that. You can search for the apps? You can search for the data? Something else?

Many apps were loaded that I do not want. How do I clean this up?
    First check here:
Homescreen > Options > Device > Application Management
If the app in question is not on that list(s), then it is not installed. Rather, the icon is a shortcut "teaser" pushed to you. You cannot really get rid of those. Rather, what I do is to create a homescreen folder called "Spare Icons" (some call it "Junk") and move all of such icons there. That way, they are out of my way.
On the other hand, if the app in question is on that list(s), then click the X button and delete the app.
    Good luck!

  • Restoring from iTunes backup of my 4s onto my new 5s is missing all my photo albums

My laptop is being repaired and therefore I have nothing from my iTunes library such as photo albums, music etc, except what is currently on my iPhone 4s. I may or may not be able to recover what is on my old laptop and won't know for several more weeks.
Meanwhile, I asked Apple prior to purchasing my 5s if I would be able to transfer EVERYTHING that is currently on my 4s, into it, I was told "absolutely".
So yesterday I used my friends outdated but functional laptop to download the newest iTunes and proceeded to backup my 4s. Then I restored from that backup onto my new 5s. On the first attempt the 5s was missing all photo albums (only had camera roll and videos) as well as 75% of my apps and what seemed like my entire music library! however upon closer inspection it seems to have had all of the music listed but not on the iPhone! each song had a little cloud with a downward arrow protruding from it. Not sure what that is about because the majority of my music is from discs and downloads that I manually added to my iTunes library, not from purchases made in the iTunes Store. Regardless, it does seem I have those songs available so this isn't the problem. The missing photo albums and apps is the issue. So I attempted a second restore of the same backup file. This time the apps seemed to have all come through but still no photo albums. I am now underway on my third attempt in the hopes that they will materialize the same way the missing apps did on round two. I will know in two hours when it finishes but I am not optimistic.
Can anyone help me sort this out?

Actually it only restored about 1000 of 4000 songs, so 3000 songs missing as well. And the 3rd attempt didn't yield any more songs or photo albums.

  • How can I make my photo albums sync between devices via iCloud?

I've recently started using iCloud to sync my iPhone 5 and iPad (original iPad). Problem is: new albums I create on my iPad in Photos are not appearing on my iPhone in Photos.
I thought they were meant to sync automatically but I've waited a week for them to sync and nothing has changed.
I just went into iCloud in my iPhone and did 'Backup Now' and upon completion, it's made no differecne to my missing photo albums.
Photos are turned on in iCloud on both devices.
Is there a way to 'force' iCloud to sync them up?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Is your phone number checked in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at. If it is selected in there, make sure that nothing else is checked that would cause the phone number to not be used.
Sometimes all that you have to do is to close the app completely and then launch it again and that might jump start the syncing of your messages. In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
If all of that is set up properly, you may have to sign out of messages on your devices and start over again. Start with the phone first so that the phone number is accessible to use on the iPad. Maybe this will be of some help.

  • Photos Not Syncing; Photos Missing From Albums, No Error Message, Running iTunes for Windows & iOS 7.1.2

I am having an issue with syncing my photos on my iOS devices running iOS 7.1.2, the two being an iPhone 4s and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G.
When I sync photos, I keep on having photos turn up missing from entire albums. I have tried everything I can to resolve this issue from the support article titled <a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3697">iTunes: Unable to sync photos</a>, and nothing has successfully worked in any kind of permanent form. I have even gone so far as to sync albums individually with a limit of around 400-500 total photos per sync, (give or take), and tried using what very little options I have on the photos tab for my devices in iTunes to essentially trick the devices to sync the missing photos. Despite this, iTunes still fails to sync newly added photos from the source location.
I have even made the attempt of re-installing iOS 7 on both devices, and restoring from backup. Again with no avail.
My best guess for my iPhone is that as it is a 16 GB, not all of 15.6 GB of photos will sync to the device, (go figure), but that doesn't explain why recent photos aren't added OR why my iPad 2 of 64 GB has missing photos.
As of this post, I have an estimated 38,940 files, spread across 1,703 folders, (a large amount of folders being in some of the folders; from my knowledge never being more than two folders in). They are all in one dedicated folder on a hard drive I've dedicated to iTunes and music related files, (for the sake of AVOIDING this kind of nonsense, I might add).
As for the system OS and iTunes, I am running Windows 7 64 bit, and I am using iTunes 11.2.2.3, but will have updated to iTunes 11.3 by the time anyone responds.

I have the exact same problem.
Same kind of photos/videos taken with the same camera randomly sync.
    Did 11.3 fix this issue?
    Sincerely

  • In new iOS 8 photos app, I am missing photos in photo view that are in album view

All my photos in the iPhoto app on my iMac appear correctly in the album view in the new Photos app on my iPhone 6.  However, not all the photos appear in the photos view.  To try and get the counts to match, in iTunes, I synced my iPhone after unchecking the syncing of photos.  I checked the Photos app on my iPhone and there were no photos.  Then I checked to sync all photos in iTunes and synced my iPhone again.  Every photo on my iMac was in the album view, but there were still missing photos in the photo view.
Anyone have this problem and a solution?

Thanks for your response.  Turns out the iPhotos database was corrupted.  I rebuilt it and now the counts match.
I do have summarize photos turned off as you suggested.
But now I have a new problem.  I have smart albums in iPhoto on my iMac that correspond to decades.  These albums and the photos they contain appear perfectly in the album view on my iPhone 6.  However, a few photos in the photos view appear with the wrong date.  So I'm working on resolving this.

  • I3 os4 - i4s os5 Albums gone - Cam roll missing photos

    ITunes 10.5 pc
    THE StORY:
    3G phone-------------
Spent hours sorting 4000 pics on 3G os4 ready for 4s os5 upgrade.
    - created 9 albums from pics on camera roll
    - Noticed photo library gets larger as I do this.
    - on iPhone, manually delete photos in Cam Roll to avoid copies in 3 places (goal: Present only in Photo Library and Albums since these are linked by design. Who wants a bunch of dup pics, crikey. 1 less is still better right?
    - in iTunes, (based on genius direction) right click phone icon, create backup. (the theory was a snapshot of current phones state before upgrade to 4s)
    - synced phone - (had some app upgrades/pics to account for)
Q?. How do I know if pics are getting backed up some place when doing a sync?
    4S-----------
Goal - Put new data on new phone.
    - plug in 4S. Right click phone icon, restore from backup option. Select most recent date.
    - complete restore. Phone restarts. Run through setup. Complete. Use phone! Yay!
    PROBLEM:
    3G
    Cam roll 4251 pics
Photo library 792 pics = 10 albums (that took hours to create)
    4S
    Camera Roll 4251 pics
No Photo Library and no albums. @&amp;$! Really?
    - did I just lose 792 of my favorite pics including 262 pics of my fiancé makin funny faces!?
    - lame. Please help.
Q?. How do I retrieve all my pics w/o losing changes made to new 4s
    - FYI I can still see the albums and photo album on the old 3G phone. Afraid to hook it back up to iTunes in fear of losing them, did they. It get backed up some how?!!!

    I better summarize.
    ...old 3G iPhone.
    1. Created a backup of:
    Camera Roll 4251 pics
Photo Library 792 pics consisting of 10 albums.
    New 4S
    1. Restored from backup.
    2. Result: Camera Roll 4251 pics
No Photo Library and no albums. They went missing, how?!
    - did I just lose 792 of my most important pictures?
    Any insight appreciated.
    1. How do I get the albums from my old phone backed up if I ran the backup function before upgrade to 4s with apparently no luck?
    2. Additionally, if I could somehow get the pics backed up, how do get them onto my now already restored 4s where only a camera roll is present?

  • One thumbnail missing from a photo album on iPad 2

    Hi,
I have an iPad2 (iOS5) and have a few photo albums on it.  In one album, while the actual photo is there and visible, the thumbnail is missing.  In its place is a gray box with a ? in it.  Tap on that and the full image appears. Film strip also has the box with the ?.  I'd like to get the thumbnail back.  I've tried rebooting but that did nothing. Ideas? thanks!

You can only copy photos into albums that you've created directly on the iPad. If the albums were synced from your computer then the only way to add photos to them is to copy them into the folders on your computer and re-sync them - you can't add photos to synced albums directly on the iPad

  • All photos album missing

    Hi,
I am using iPhone 5 with iOS 8.0.2. Yesterday I realized that I cant view "All photos album" in Photos app. There are just
the album Recently Added and other default albums. Of course i can list all albums I created, but I cannot view older pictures
that are not in any albums.
For "All photos album" i mean the Camera roll album.

    @tamarafromroseburg
You can access it if you select "Photo" mode in Photos application instead of "Album" mode on the bottom of the app.
But there is a lot to scroll because photos are sort by date...:/

  • I photo Albums Missing

This question was not answered actually, but the powers that be seem to have closed the post, since the person who decided that because I find the Albums feature on iphoto to be ridiculous, or not useful at all when trying to upload organized, titled images from iphoto to other programs such as snapfish, flickr or kodak.
I can not drag the album. I can export, but the album is out of order.
So the question remains, is there anyway to view the photo Albums, in the finder to upload elsewhere?
If not, then I do not see how iphoto can be useful for that purpose. (despite the fact that millions use it). To organize photos by roll, yes, by album no.

Your previous posts were in both the iPhoto 5 and 6 forums. Since you refer to Film Rolls I'm guessing you use v6, although you've started this thread in the v5 forum. It is useful for us to know which version you are using, since there are some differences.
So the question remains, is there anyway to view the photo Albums, in the finder to upload elsewhere?
The answer remains, no there is not.
I can not drag the album.
Correct. The album won't drag from the Source Pane to the Finder. Click on the Album, then select the photos. Selected photos will drag and drop to the Finder and some other applications. You can Select All, or Shift-Click to select the first and last photo of a contiguous group, or Command-Click to select non-consecutive photos.
I can export, but the album is out of order.
An easy way to preserve your album order during export is to check the box in the Export Dialog that says "Rename: use Album Name". Let's say you have an album called "Vacation". The Album name option will name each exported file "Vacation - 01" "Vacation - 02" "Vacation - 03" etc. Since the Finder always lists files in alpha-numeric order, they will be correct in the folder of exports. (Remember to create a New Folder for the exported photos so they aren't mixed in with other files.) Then to upload to snapfish, etc., just select that folder. The order will also be preserved whether you copy that folder to a CD, DVD, or other storage media for use in another computer, printing, or even a digital photo frame.
If you had given your photos descriptive titles and can't bear to lose the titles upon export (the above method will NOT preserve iPhoto titles) there is another way. It takes a little more time, depending on the size of your album. With the album in the order you choose, go through the photos one by one and add a number at the beginning of the title. Be sure to pad the title with the correct number of zeros: for up to 99 photos begin with "01 your title" ; and for up to 999 photos begin with "001 your title". When the titles are all numbered, export the album. This time, check the box in the export dialog for "Rename: use Title". Since your titles are now in alpha-numeric order, they will remain in that order in the Finder.
I hope this gives you some of the answers you seek. There are reasons why iPhoto works this way. The most basic reason is that it is a database, and you are not supposed to access your files from the Finder once you import them into the iPhoto Library. In the iPhoto Help file (v6) under a section titled +"About using the iPhoto Library"+ it says:
*IMPORTANT: There is also an "iPhoto Library" folder located in the Pictures folder in your home folder, outside the iPhoto application. If you move, delete, rename, or otherwise touch files or folders within this folder, you may be unable to see your pictures in the iPhoto application.*
    and
*The files within this folder should only be manipulated by a customer care representative.*
By digging into that folder from the Finder, even to upload your photos to a website, you risk damaging your entire iPhoto database. Your photos will be safe, but you could cause iPhoto to forget where they are located. It's best to stay out of that folder completely and access your photos from iPhoto itself.
There is no representation of iPhoto albums in the Finder, because albums exist only inside the iPhoto database file. Your photos are stored based on import date (version 5) or Film rolls (v6 and v7). From v6 Help:
*Your photos aren't actually stored within each album, slideshow, and book; instead, these contain references to the photo files stored in the iPhoto Library folder. This way, you can add the same photo to several different albums, slideshows, books, calendars, or cards without actually duplicating the image file.*
This is what makes iPhoto such a powerful organizer. Albums are completely flexible and use very little disk space whatsoever. You could take a family reunion photo of 20 people, and place it inside an album for each person - without wasting any space. But you can't access your albums from the Finder.
If not, then I do not see how iphoto can be useful for that purpose.
People use iPhoto's different features in numerous different ways. Some people like to use albums to organize their entire libraries. I do not. I like to organize my Library by Film Roll, and my primary choice for viewing is by film rolls. I keep my photos grouped chronologically, with a few exceptions (I have one Roll just for Movie clips). I use the comments section to list the contents of each roll so that I can scroll through my library with the rolls closed and comments showing. That helps me know where to find a particular photo. Just after importing I go through and keyword the new photos. I don't have an album for each member of my family, because I can locate them quickly using the keywords. I don't use chronological albums, because I can use the calendar tool to find photos by date.
For me, albums are useful for special projects. I use them to gather and prepare a group of photos for printing or uploading. I use them when I'm working on a movie, since albums are easy to locate from the Media Pane of iMovie and iDVD. I have a few Smart Albums for collecting the highest rated photos from a specific date (best of birthday, etc). Most of them I save, in case I want to reproduce the project, but sometimes I create an album, export, then delete.
Here's one final example. A relative of mine died suddenly and completely unexpectedly. Prior to her memorial service, I went through my entire library and placed all my photos of her into an album. From there I weeded out the duds, then edited the rest. Some I opened via iPhoto into Photoshop Elements for more "heavy duty" editing, some I just cropped in iPhoto. I printed the album and created a little book to share with her loved ones. Her daughter liked it, so I gave it to her at the service. Since I still have the album, I can easily print out another set of the photos for myself or other family members. That project could have been very difficult, but with iPhoto's tools it only took a few hours, and the bulk of that time was spent editing my photos.
The tools are there. Hopefully as you come to understand how iPhoto works you'll find the way to use it that suits you best.
    Regards.

  • Missing "Saved Photos" album

So I'm using a wifi only model that I bought off a friend (who stepped up to the 3g version). He had a bunch of stuff on his so the first thing I did was do a restore in iTunes. It all went fine except that when saving photos from safari and dropbox, nothing would ever show up in the photos app (it just said I could add photos in itunes). A little googling around shows that there should be a Saved Photos album where these are added, but I don't have one.
I hooked it up to my mac and tried syncing a few photos from iPhoto. Those shows up properly but I still have no Saved Photos and no way to save any photos anywhere.
tl;dr: Saving photos sends them into oblivion, there is no Saved Photos album

    Try this:
    • Hard reset - hold the sleep/wake button and the home button simultaneously for about 6 seconds, until the iPad tunes off. Then turn it on again.
    • Go to "Settings - General - Reset" and choose "Reset All Settings"
    • If it does not help, restore the firmware with iTunes - IMPORTANT, don't let iTunes use one of your backups… set it up as a new device.
Please don't forget to mark the topic as answered/solved, that helps others when looking for an answer.

  • "iOS Photos" album missing from Facebook drop down box

I have an iPhone 5S running iOS 7.0.4. I want to post a Photo from the Camera Roll to Facebook. I tap on a Photo in Camera Roll and choose FaceBook. The Album field defaults to one of my existing Albums at the top of the list. When I scrool down through the list the iOS Photos album doesn't appear. Therefore any photo I upload via the Photo App appears on Facebook under a specific Album not Mobile Photos or iOS Photos. How do I get iOS Photos to appear at the top of the drop down box?
    Many Thanks!

*Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Remember passwords for sites"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:

  • I cannot see the pictures in the photo albums (IPhone6)

Hi, i have recently bought a new IPhone 6 and synced everything from Icloud to the new phone. Everything works perfectly except one little thing which i cannot solve..
I can see all the photo albums in the Photos but the albums i had created in my previous iphone are empty. The name and the number of pictures in them is there (e.g.: Budapest - 19) but when i open the album it says that the folder is empty and i can add or sync pictures.
has anyone seen something like this? what shall i do?
    thx a lot!!!
