Missing photos and movies in elements 8.0

Hi all
I just bought element 8.0, convertet my catalog and everything seems to be working fine. I also have auto-analyze on. No crashes.
But I realized that some media is missing (it's not a "linking"-problem. the thumbs dont's even show up - but the file is in the right folder and plays in any other app). when i try to search the folder and add missing content to my catalog nothing is imported. elements tells me all pics and movies are already in my catalog.
I also realized that my catalog is getting smaller and smaller. I started with around 6220 pics. Now (three days in) its only 6190. There seem to be pics/movies being removed over time. I assume this has to do with the auto-analyze option.
anyone?

Update: The problem seems to be connected to the auto-analyse feature. I suspected that from the beginning since the catalog lost pictures over a period of time. this happened cos the auto analyse was still running going through my whole catalog.
So I reconverted my ps7 catalog, switched off the auto analyse and kept an eye on my picture count. nothing disappeard since I turned the new option off.
This seems to be a bug.

Photos and movies don't appear in Events/Photos but do appear in Last 12 months

Hello. I'm using the latest version of iPhoto 11 (9.1.1). When I browse through my photos via the Events or Photos section of the iPhoto sidebar (under Library), certain photos and movies are missing. They simply don't appear there at all. However, when I click the "Last 12 Months" section of the iPhoto sidebar (under Recent), the photos and movies are there. If I try re-importing the missing photos and movies I'm told they are duplicates, so they must be in my iPhoto Library - they just refuse to show up under Events or Photos! I've tried ticking all the rebuild options by holding down command and option when I start iPhoto, but to no avail. Perhaps there's a setting I've inadvertently ticked that hides certain photos and movies? Hidden Photos is ticked under the View menu. I have View > Sort Photos set to "By date" / "Ascending".

since both last 12 months and events or photos are simply different views of the same photos in your library they are there - the most common issue is incorrect dates so you are looking in the wrong event - you can find the event by selecting the photo in the last 12 months view and and right clicking and using the show event command - you can correct the dates by selecting the photo and using the photos menu ==> adjust time/date command

I have icloud and a new iPhone5 ! They work good , took pictures and a few short movies, plugged in my phone to my iMac transfered Items to iPhoto then inported items to iMovie. when getting to know what i was doing i decided to delete pictures and movies i no longer wanted. when i looked for a few missing items i opend Finder and there some where buyt i had already trashed them and deleted the doubles. Still could not find missing pictures and movies 3 items and today after calling yahoo about a different complant with sending feed back for Yahoo mail Applications login . i opened up Attachments Not the Large Attachments just Attachments and there were the 3 items i had been hunting for to Trash and delete. the mail Attachments file does not have the Option to delet Files and photos and movies. When i tried to Download the 3 items a window shows up that says Error While Downloading the Files, A Server Error has occured, please Try Again later. nothing works how do i remove the Trapped photo and movie Blank Files and trash them? Onece they get into my downloads i can do something with them as i understand. That part of it kind of keeps me in Question also because why should i have to down load my own files of Attachments / Pictures and movies if they are comming from my iMac? How much better is iLife11 then iPhoto08 and iMovie08 . Thanks Greg

Format the HDD in Disk Utility>Erase to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and the open System Preferences>Time Machine and set up the external disk as the Time Machine HDD. Then look at the Options, and exclude what you do not want backed up.

At the moment you can't - though it should be possible (if it makes it into the final release) in iOS 5 which will be available sometime in the Autumn. Photos cannot currently be moved between albums on the iPad.
If you sync separate folders from your computer you'll get an album for each of them on the iPad, and you have to sync all the folders/albums that you want together as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad (not including a folder in a sync is the way that you delete it from the iPad).

I created a slide show on my work computer and placed many photos and movies in my work computer's Media Browser. Want to use another computer (laptop) to give the presentation and therefore change location of slide show. Do I need to copy the media browser to the laptop or once the pictures and movies are embedded in the original slide show, can I take it anywhere and not worry about the media browser?
I also want to optimize a movie for Keynote, so it's not too large a file. Please help.

Graphic, sound and video files are copied into the Keynote file, but make sure Keynote > Preferences - include sound and movies check box is ticked.
If you have added additional fonts they will need be changed to reflect what is on the destination machine.
If the other machine has a different Keynote version, ensure the same transitions and effects are available.

Photos and movies not draggable

I'm just getting started with iweb... When trying to replace photos from template pages with my own images - the file name shows up on the webpage but the image itself is no where to be found. When I click on the image's name on the webpage, a box entitled "link" with all kinds of link objects comes up. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm having the same issue with photos and movies.

Evidently it was a file compatibility issue. I had been trying to drag .tga files in...
They wouldn't work but other formats would. Not sure why my movie files didn't work originally, but they do now! My prayers have been answered!

Help with Touch photo and movie copy/paste issues

I recently moved all of my photos and movies from my Touch to a USB drive, and now I want to put them back but the Touch won't let me - how do I replace them?? My ultimate destination for the files is the Cloud, which I've just loaded.

It sounds like the poster tried to paste the photos into the DCIM folder in My Computer since that is how you can get photos taken by or saved to the iPod into your computer. However the reverse does not work for moving photos from computer to iPod.

Moving photos and movies to free up space on hard drive

My MacBook hard drive is almost full. The majority of the space is taken up by photos and movies. I would like to move my current collection of photos and movies to an external hardrive, and then delete the files off my harddrive so that I have the space available to add more photos. However, I still want to easily access the old photos on the external harddrive and the new photos thta will be put on the hard drive. Any suggestions and the best way to accomplish this?

Easiest way to do this would be to copy your iTunes folder (located inside your home folder/Music) to your external hard drive. Next, open iTunes while holding down the option key on your keyboard. When iTunes asks you to select a music library to use, select the one on the external hard drive. Test to make sure everything is working just as it did with your old library. Assuming it does, you can now delete the iTunes folder on your internal hard drive.
The same process can be used with iPhoto.

Can I select all flagged photos and move to Flash Drive as a group rather than drag and drop one pic at a time?

Hi David,
One way you can do it is to create a Smart Album, and make the conditions = Photo Is Flagged. That will put all of your flagged photos into a single album. Then you can export that Album to the Flash Drive via File>Export. Once you set up the Export the way you want it, and then click on "Export" it will bring up your Finder Window, allowing you to select the Flash Drive to export to.

Duplicate Photos and Movies when I download

Started getting duplicate photos and movies when after I upgraded to iOS 8. When I originally upgraded, I had issues with my music. I had to reset the phone and reload from scratch. That cleared up that problem. Now when I download the photos to my iMac, I get for the jpegs as photo-xy and a photo-xy-1. For the movies, I get the movie with a different file number but they are the same. Not sure why, HDR is not in use and it should not have any effect on movies.
The phone is a 5s running iOS 8.1.2. The images and movies do not show up as doubles when view looking through my iPhone. Its 16GB, so it wouldn't hold that many if there was duplicates. I also don't use iCloud for my photos or my music. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Is Aperture doing any processing? ("Window→Show Activity" -- anything there?)
Are the Images pixilated/degraded when shown in the Viewer as well as in the Browser? (Double-click an Image to open it in the Viewer.)
How 'bout at 100%? (In the Viewer, press "z" to zoom to 100%. The "z" key toggles the zoom.)
Does generating a new Preview remove the pixilation? (Select an Image in the Browser, hold down "{Option}" and click "Photos→Generate Preview".)
