Missing photos on blog page

OK... I'm loving iWeb, but having a strange time when adding photos to my blog page. I'll add a photo at the top of the new entry page, but when I go back to the blog page... or try to look at it on the web, some of the photos are there and some aren't and I can't find a reason for it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Not sure exactly what you are tring to do and I'm not really sure just how the blog page is supposed to work, but I delete the latin text in the text block that is attached to the bottom area of the page. the area where the apple logo, etc is. I collapse the box as small as it will go, grab the box itself and move it down to allow more room for pictures. I just keep moving it down as necessary stacking pictures as I go. Seem a bit cumbersome, but it works.
hope that makes sense.
good luck

  • How to post more than one photo on blog page

Can you post more than the top placeholder photo on a blog page? I'd like to post photos as they relate to the blog I'm writing but can only use the placeholder photo at the top of the entry page--is it possible to place more photos on the page or do you have to use a web layout and not a blog layout?
    Thanks.

It is possible because I Do it on my blog. All you have to do is click he media button and get the photo you want, I then drag it to the desktop, and then drag it into my blog. For some reason iweb can get a little wonkey and makes it look like it can't be done, but it can. Good luck!

  • Photos in text of blog entry do not port to main blog page

I have posted before about the photos from my entry page disappearing when ported to my main blog page. I have yet to find a solution so I'm asking for help again.
I'm am trapped using iWeb 1.1 until I find a solution. I use the Modern Template with modifications. Usually I delete the snowboarding surfer placeholder. Please note I'm not concerned that this photo doesn't port. I don't want it to. I do however need the photos that I have embedded via text wrap within my blog entry to port to the main blog page. They do not.
I have tried keeping the snowboarder place holder and redoing entries with wrapped text, but my additional photos are still missing. I have checked the box in iWeb 2 that says show photos. My layouts conveted to iWeb 2 look perfect on the entry's page, and horrible with missing photos on the summary page.
This problem is beyond frustrating. My blog can be seen here, however it is still the iWeb 1.1 format.

As you can see, almost all my entries have numerous photos. I want them to display on the main blog page.
Am I missing something very basic? I have seen others with this same question but no one seems to have had any luck resolving this problem.
    Thanks,
    Kathryn

And that's the way it should be.

  • Photos on front blog page

Hi. I know that in my blog, I have a choice in the inspector as to how many lines show up on the main blog page -- none or all of them. But what I can't figure out is it I can also show the photo(s) in the entry(ies) without making a person click on "read more."
If you look at sites at blogger.com, you can just see everything without ever clicking, unless of course if you want to leave a comment.
Just wondering if this functionality is somewhere and I missed it.
    Thanks a lot.

I'm a beginner and have a photo on front blog page but nothing added to either 'entries' or 'archive'. Can't I just publish a blog page plus several photo pages without having to create 'entries' and 'archive' pages? Trying to make things simple for my first Web page. (Not using .Mac)

When I go back through my archive on my blog page for the previous 10 months through iWeb, my entries start to appear as first, missing the text, and further back, missing text and pics! I am using it as a digital diary of my baby's development so am freaking out a bit. Any idea's on what is going wrong?? Thank you!

Basically iWeb's blog is buggy and, in the end, it comes down to this:

You are missing one or more photos - youprobably have a page background that requires a photo which is behind a page with photos on it - all pages must either have a photo or be a color - if you have a gray background it requires a photo - look through the book carefully and be sure to look at the background on any full page photos - you will find one or more missing photos

  • Adding a photo gallery to a blog page?

I see the last queries about being able to do this are from 2006.  I'm wondering if it is any easier now.  I'm creating a website for a film series project.  I used a 'blog' template so I could easily manage about 20 separate films (without having scores of pages to deal with).  Right now each of those 'blog' pages has a large number of free floating photos (shots from the film).  They take too long to load.  I'm wondering if I could create a photo gallery instead, ON the blog entry page, that would contain the pics, and allow for fast loads?
Just wondering how one might create a photo gallery on a 'blog' entry page.
    Ben

Having looked at your site, I would say that you layout is very artistic and would be completely ruined by using a photos template.
DPI doesn't realy come into it as this is used for print. iWeb does have image optimization but its better to turn it off and reduce the image to the dimensions (in px) that it will appear on the web page before dragging it into the app.
If you want to maximise the SEO and make the pages more interesting for us humans, I would add descriptive captions to the images and put them in the spaces between the staggered image layout.
If you are comtemplating designing for mobile devices, you need to use every trick in the book to to reduce file sizes and cut content to the bone.
I have been using responsive designs for quite a while now and learned a lot of hard lessons along the way on what works and what doesn't on mobile devices. Some more examples HERE.
iPads are big enough for a traditional website to work on them as long as you pay attention to making the links and other user controls finger sized. I did figure out a way to make an iPhone compatible site using iWeb if you are interested...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Mobile-iWeb.html
I must admit that I detest Wordpress although there are some responsive desgns available now. I did a test with one of the free ones but its a total pain and there doesn't appear to be any plugins for HTML5, responsive media players. I had to figure this out all on my own. If you click the Blog button on this page you should get there.

  • My iWeb's main blog page has photos of entries all mixed up

My site is egsilberman.com and all but the main blog page is functioning.  The index.html looks perfect, the page listing all the blog pages using the index.html in the browser looks as it should.
But after uploading the site to my FTP - using iWeb SEO Tool - the main landing page of the blog has all the photos, except the most recent entry, mixed up.  The blog entries are in order, listed according to date, but the photos associated with the entries - the key photos shown on the main blog page - are all goofed up: randomly placed throughout the entries.
Oddly, all the blog pages are functioning fine.  It's just the main blog landing photos that're off.
On the iWeb side I've reloaded everything from scratch...trashed caches, plists, etc, but it doesn't seem to be the problem.  Again, the index.html site and blog (main page) are all in order. I'm not an expert by any means, so the change in the blog is confounding me.  It was working fine until earlier this week.
Is it the SEO uploader?  My FTP/host?  Something I could do to help?  I do not know what to do.  Any advice or direction would be appreciated.
    Thanks for considering this question.
    Evan

Roddy, thank you for many things.
Firstly, for your clear direction in encouraging me to upload my site AFTER SEO'ing it using a dedicated FTP. I used Cyberduck.  Then, following the line of thinking that the index.html needed to be uploaded as well, I did that.  Simple as it sounds it took a bit of courage on my part.
This got my blog summary page photos back in line with their individual entries.
Bigger still was seeing that the index.html file I uploaded made a /Site/ reference to the "Site" folder that's local on my desktop but not present in my server's folder.  And seeing this in the browser address bar, I altered the text of the index.html by eliminating the /Site.  Cyberduck offered ways to do this.  I pushed save.
Cedric at http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Folder_FTP.html has a helpful step by step on using FTP and Cyberduck.  I followed his instruction as I went.
As tiny as this is to those of you who know the workings of your sites, it, for me, is like looking under the hood of a car and being ABLE to fix it. Not something I normally do.  Maybe it'll break down in a mile.  But for now it's fixed, and humming along.
I'm looking now toward getting an optimization app.  If I'm correct, and I follow your publishing workflow path, Roddy, http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Search-Engine-Optimization/Website-Publishing-Wo rkflow.html, I will, after optimizing, then upload again to my server - using the post-optimized folder as the final source of feeding the server.  Then you list other steps - uploading new sitemaps to all the major search engines - I purchase Rage's Sitemap Automater - will use that for that.
There is a methodical flow to all this, and I will learn it and implement it.  Leaving MobileMe and moving to FTP and FTP practices was a leap.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Blogs with missing photos

Using iWeb 1.1.1., my Blog entries typically include several photos. Increasingly I am finding that over time some of the photos on my Blog entries disappear, i.e., I now have an empty photo rectangle where I used to have a photo. All Blog photos were brought in from iPhoto and are resident on the same computer as my iWeb Domain. I also have many Photos pages on my site and I've noticed that the same photos that are disappearing from my Blogs are fine on the Photos pages.
I bring photos into my Blog entries through the Media Browser, but in two different ways. 1. Using Command drag so that the photos will be inline. 2. Simply dragging, so photos will be fixed. Only inline photos disappear.
I would greatly appreciate any advice about how to solve/avoid this problem.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1GB RAM/80 GB Drive
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1GB RAM/80 GB Drive

This happened to me. There were three things that caused it...
    1. I had reduced the size of the blog description lines (in the Inspector I had told it to display two lines instead of three or four for the description, I think) and there wasn't enough "room" for the picture to show up beside the 1 or 2 line blog entry. So, I just told it to expand it back to three or four line description length. Pictures all showed up again.
    2. The pictures also 'disappeared' when the actual text box for the entire blog entry page wasn't "big" enough to display all the entries, PLUS their pictures.
I fiddled about adjusting the size of the particular box on the page (turn on the layout in the menu so you can see the gridlines) - just expanded the box and voila, there were the pictures and their corresponding entries.
    3. Also, when I replaced the default picture that shows up in the entry page, I didn't drag my own photo into the box to actually replace it, so I deleted the original default picture out. Now I had my replacement picture show up, but it didn't "kick in" in the Blog description page. I've found that the picture you want to show up must REPLACE the original that iWeb places there, or else it seems to not display in the Blog page.
Don't know if this helps you, but they were the three culprits when it happened to me.
    Rachel.

  • Photo slideshow on Blog Page

    Question specifically for James Tseng...
    1. how do you get photo's to appear randomly and overlay one another on your "blog pages"
    2. And how do you get multi images to display as mini slideshows within the i-web photo template pages
Are these third party tools you've used or features readily available within i-web.
Can't help but admire your creativity. Thank you.

Hey great work so far Mr Peebly! So sorry your thread slipped past me.
So when you open up your slideshow, check out how it interacts with the browser window. Resize the browser window by dragging the lower right hand corner smaller and larger. You will see that at a certain "wideness" your slideshow starts to recenter itself in the browser window. And at a certain "narrowness" your browser starts to put horizontal scroll bars on. This point is the exact minimum width of your slideshow and will need to be the minimum width of your <iframe>. Remember that your iframe functions like a mask, so you will want your entire slideshow to show through centered in the iframe....so you must adhere to this minimum width.
The vertical width is going to depend on how many photos and in how many columns you choose to put them. You see how your photos overflow the vertical dimensions of the page? you can go back later and experiment with iPhoto Export and see if you can better fit your photos into maybe 7 columns. but then check the minimum width as above again!
So basically to get the dimensions of your slideshow, the main thing is the minimum width. For the Postcard Viewer vertical dimension is not as important, but you want to be able to see your whole slideshow. So once you have your slideshow fixed (thumbnail-wise). Drag the browser to the point where there are no scroll bars and no re-centering. The easiest way I know of to get the dimensions of something is to use the screengrab function Apple-Shift-4 and draw a box around the slideshow. The do a Get Info (Apple-i) on the screenshot file and you will see dimensions listed there under more info. These will be the dimensions to use in your <iframes> expression as well as the size of your text box to make in iWeb.
So here we are...almost there... so far your iframes expression looks like this...
    <iframe src="http://homepage.mac.com/paul.best/Slideshows" width="xxx" height="xxx" scrolling="no" border="0" style="border:none;" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to seeing your finished product!

  • Blog page not showing photo

    Hi,
Quick question I just created a blog entry and the main photo from the blog entry is not coming up on the blog page.
You can see it when you click 'read more'.
    thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
This has happened because you probably deleted the placeholder photo (the one with the stock photo of the skiers or whatever) instead of dropping another photo into it. I did this a couple times in the past, too. I really wish Apple made these placeholder boxes undeletable like the text placeholders.
Anyways, the only solution to your problem is to redo the page from scratch. I mean you can cut and paste stuff, but you need to add a new entry and then make sure to drag the photo that you want displayed INTO the placeholder box. It will replace the stock photo in there and then if you click over to the main page, you will see the summary preview photo there, too.

On iPhoto, I can no longer access the 'Classic' option which would lay out my photos on the page. It will send them as attachments only. I need the page layout for my work. Any thoughts as to why this has changed? It used to fully lay out the photos so I could add notes and detailed information before I sent them. I am thinking it is something simple that I have just missed...

The "Photos" view has been replaced by the Media Browser.
Most applications will show you the Photos icon in the Sidebar, when you need to select photos in a file chooser dialoge. Mail, Safari, the iWork apps. See Terence Devlin's User Tip: How to Access Files in iPhoto
For example, in the File > Open dialogue in Preview I am seeing this in the sidebar.

  • HT4686 How can I publish my website developed using iWeb and have all functions of the blog page work as it did with MobileMe?

I have developed a website using iWeb and it includes a blog page selected from stock pages in iWeb.  I'm publishing it with GoDaddy and when I do that the interactive functions of the blog page don't work. (Adding comments and photos as well as searching).  Is there any simple way to host this site somewhere so that those functions work?

No, because all those functions were MobileMe only and now that MobileMe has gone, they won't function any longer.
To enable these to function, you either need to add them yourself or change your blogging platform to something else such as WordPress etc., and create a link from iWeb to your WordPress blog or embed the blog page using iframe into your iWeb site.
Commenting systems such as Disqus or http://www.intensedebate.com work quite well.

  • Slow download speeds for my photo/travel blog downloads- how can I speed up

I am trying to make some modifications to my iweb photo/travel blog site to shorten the time it takes to download, particularly on visitors using pc's. It takes over a minute to download a days post if visitor has ultra fast connection speed and 2 or 3 min. with average DSL speeds. My archive page is the slowest as it has now become the longest page... tho it has no pics and graphics to speak of.
My pics are hi resolution, is that the problem or am i posting too many... usually 10 to 15 per daily post with some text boxes to boot??? on the archive page, can I split it up some how into 2 or 3 pages or by month?? thanks for helping a new mac user. mark.

It's a function of your iPhone's data speed, which is a function of your physical location and your carrier.  Talk to your carrier about increasing your data speed (probalby unlikely) or get dedicated internet to connect your computer to, i.e. cable, fiber, etc.

  • Very strange.  In iPhoto '11, cannot find my Trash bin under RECENT category - -need to retrieve missing photos.

Hello.  I have been trying to solve this for quite some time on my own.
I've been using iPhoto for years, and get all the upgrades.  Working with iPhoto tonight, trying to set up two new Albums, it added my entire iPhoto library into the first new Album I created.  When I deleted that, then I tried to create another new Album, this time it added 26 photos from a different Album.  Very strange.  I deleted that new Album, too.  When I went back to the date and photos I was originally looking at, I noticed the two I was going to place in the new Album were missing.
That's when I looked up for the Trash bin, which I've usually found under the RECENT category, but now is entirely gone.
    Oh no...
I don't understand what is going on.  If anyone has any clues, I would be most grateful for your insight.

    Hello Terence,
Thanks for your rapid response.  To answer your question, under RECENT, I currently see Last Import, Last 18 Months, Flagged, and...
Well, this is wonderful, the Trash is back again, right where it was before.  I have also checked the photos that were missing, and they are back right where they were supposed to be.
Now I am wondering if this is a  iPhoto '11 problem in general, since I noticed there were quite a number of other entries on the iPhoto discussion page  on similar subjects, ranging from Trash trouble to missing photos this evening.  Might there be anything to this?
It is great that in my case, it's all been restored.  Next time, I will just quit iPhoto and re-open it again.  Perhaps even restarting my Mac might well have been a good enough idea.
That was a close call.  Thanks very much.
