Missing pieces of components (JFileChooser, JButtons, etc) help?

The normal window in the GUI i'm working on, works fine. When i bring up a new NetFrame (e.g. preferences) the components aren't drawn completely. None of the 3 buttons show up, a few check boxes in a tabbed pane show up (not all of them), etc. When i click where a button should be, it appears. When i switch to the other tab in the pane, its contents appear (except for a small missing bottom right corner of the border for a jtextarea), and when i switch back to the first tab, all of its contents appear. When i resize the panel, everything shows up.
I've tried calling validate, revalidate, validateTree, repaint, show, pack, none of them do anything (pack rearranges things, but nothing new appears).
I'm completely out of ideas!
A previous version of the program works fine, so it is something wrong with my code (i.e. not my computer / packages etc).
The thing that really stumps me, is that a JFileChooser appears incomplete -- only showing the file browser section, and the okay button (missing cancel button, and borders etc).
I'm sorry i don't have any sample code to show, there too much to put it all, and i have no idea where the problem is.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed in Apple. I preordered my iPhone 5 as soon as it was available, but did not receive it in the mail until yesterday. I excitedly met the UPS man and ran inside to open my new phone. Upon opening the package, I found that my iPhone is damaged (with dings on the front/side - and it is a white/silver iPhone, not black), the SIM card is missing, AND the earbud/mic/remote is missing!! I spent who knows how long on the phone with Apple customer service, only for them to tell me that my best option is to go to an Apple store and they'll switch it out for me. I was told that they will hold an iPhone identical to mine so that it is ready to go when I get there. I called both of the Apple stores "near" me (both an hour away) and neither would hold a phone for me - so I called later in the day when I was actually able to make it to a store, and they were out of stock. I was told that I should make an appointment with a Genius - but then I would have to come back later to get a phone. Like I said, this is not a short drive for me. I was then told that I could go online after 10 p.m. and reserve a phone, without paying, and pick it up in the store. It seems that is not the case. I have to either open a new account or see if my AT&T account is eligible for an upgrade - which it isn't, because I used that when I originally ordered the phone. So now I'm stuck with a damaged phone with missing pieces that I can't use, and I can't seem to get anybody to easily help me get a new one. I'm about to just call and ask for a full refund and go buy the Galaxy S3 that my parents love so much. They asked me what was so great about the iPhone 5... and I really don't know what to say.
Now what do I do? I'm tired of dealing with people over the phone who won't help me. And the Apple Retail stores aren't being very helpful themselves. Ugh!!!

Desktop icons are missing pieces

some of my desktop icons have missing pieces. Have restarted, and ran a scan on my computer .. no problems there. It's not really effecting anything it's just annoying

It would be nice if you told others the steps you've tried and/or how you used to have your setup.
Anyway have you tried tapping MORE this will then bring you to
the selection-list of Audiobooks, Genres, Compilations & Composers.
Selecting Genres gives you a list of all your music split into genres which was set within the Music downloaded via iTunes or uploaded from CD or which you may have set yourself.
Then you just select the Genre you want:
If certent songs are not correctly gategorised you may need to go into iTunes and reselect via Get-info
>Info>Genre and change it there. That way you should end up with all songs of Jazz or other in 1 place.

Try resetting your phone. Hold the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears, then release both buttons and allow the phone to restart. No data will be lost.

If your phone is in recovery mode, you've already lost ALL of the data on the phone. Your only choice now is to restore it from your most recent backup. You follow this by syncing your content back to your phone. Any data, on your phone, not backed up or in supported applications on your computer, is gone. iTunes content you can re-download for free.

Error message "Update, Live update" missing pieces

When i turn my computer on, it comes on but I'm getting an error message saying there are missing pieces, reinstall Live Update
I just installed leopard on my macbook pro last week. I was told that in order to bring it up to the current operating system i need to install leopard then snow leopard then lion and that is what I was trying to do. The computer still comes on but what does this mean and what should I do?

Check if that billing document is there in VFX3 . If it is there then try to clear it from there and then try to reverse it.

If from certain Middle Eastern countries, FaceTime is banned and cannot be installed.

With all that Story does, why is there no budgeting software? It seems to be the only missing piece.

I love the sharing aspect of the pre-production process but it seems like the only missing piece is any budgeting software. Jungle and Movie Magic aren't great, it seems an Adobe budgeting software would complete the package. Are there plans to release one?

Missing Windows 7 Components?

Hi I have a Toshiba laptop model (Satellite) L675-S7018. A few months ago my Windows Update stopped working and I now have various security updates that fail to install including Windows Service Pack 1. I've tried all the Microsoft fix it's and I seem to have a working updater. But I keep being directed to a Microsoft Windows 7 page that is telling me I am missing (one or more) windows components that the SP1 needs in order to install. It advises reinstalling my Windows 7 from an installation disc and says that often computers from 3rd party sources (like Toshiba) are missing one or more components because they just weren't installed at the factory. Of course I have no Windows (7) installation discs, and my recovery discs don't seem to want to work now either. I don't understand why updates won't install anymore because they used to. I went to the add or remove features in my control panel (under Programs) and tried to install all components that were showing a blank box. Checkmarked all and ran that. But it always tells me "some components could not be installed". I am stumped. Do you know which components I am missing? How do I install or reinstall them? I don't appear to have any rollback settings that are prior to loosing my ability to upgrade windows. I have run checkdisc and scan disc and everything I can think of to repair my Windows 7 installation but nothing repairs it...I still seem to be missing "some components".

To try to replace the missing Windows files/components run this command at an elevated command prompt:
sfc /scannow

Try this first and let us know what happens. But, it sounds like you should read up on using your Toshiba Recovery utility, this starts on page 60 of your User's Guide. While you should ensure you have a good set of recovery disks/media for emergencies, it's best to run the recovery utility from the recovery partition on your hard drive.
But, get back to us with the results of running the sfc tool first. We can consider a recovery after if necessary.

For what ever reason I cannot locate my favorites, and cannot see my web browser on my firefox. My grandson used the computer yesterday and many of the usual thing are missing. Browser bar, favorites tools etc. Can you help

The line where the browser bar would ordinarily be is just a black space. My favorites list, browsing history and most of the firefox toolbar is missing.

It sounds like he hid the menu bar. Press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display the menu bar, then in the view menu select Toolbars, then click on "Menu Bar" in the list of toolbars to display it permanently. Active toolbars have a tick by their name. For more details see the [[menu bar is missing]] article.

Missing controls in Develop module - crop etc

They were there a couple of days ago but for the last few sessions the group of controls (including crop etc) that sit under the main image in the Develop module have gone missing.
I've been playing with the 'view' options without success and it seems that they are not coming back of their own volition.
Any help appreciated.

Missing PDF Presets in Illustrator CS2 - Please Help

I use Adobe Illustrator CS2 for work (running on Windows 7 32-bit). I am not sure how it happened, but I suddenly can ONLY save a PDF using the Illustrator Default option in the Adobe PDF Preset field. I no longer have the option to save a PDF using as Press Quality, Smallest File Size, etc.
I have searched around the web and have not been able to find any good info on how to restore these presets. Any help with correcting this would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

By reinstalling any Adobe app that makes use of the shared PDF components. The presets themselves are stored in the pertinent program folder and also in your user data folder. In fact if you simply create a new user account they may magically show up because they were re-created/ copied with factory defaults... On the other hand that may also point to possible permissions issues with your own user account - the files may be there, but inaccessible due to insufficient privileges. Other than that really simply reinstall.

Missing Photos from my Iphoto library, Please Help!

#1 Woke up yesterday and noticed there are many pictures missing from my Iphoto library.
#2 The folders are still there but there are NO picture in some of them EVEN though my total picture count remains the same. About 25k pics.
#3 I do a google and some forums suggest "rebuilding" the photo album THROUGH my Iphoto Photo Library.
#4 I go ahead and start the rebuilding process which seems conceivably at the rate its going, it might take maybe a full day or more!!
#5 My laptop FREEZES for some mucked up reason at about 5500 photos rebuilt so far. I am forced to force quit Iphoto and RESTART the whole process.
#6 Now during the "rebuild" process. The process stops at and ONLY recognizes up to the 5500 photos.
#7 Now my library ONLY says 5500 photos instead of the 25k
#8 All of my photo FOLDERS still remain.
#9 A little tidbit, I don't know why but my external 2tb hd is somehow connected to my Iphoto, where if my EX HD is not connected I will be missing many photos from my mac laptop Iphoto Library while disconnected.
#10 2 things, I have not backed up my library since Dec 2010, BUT i also have added very little photo since then.
PLEASE HELP ME KIND MAC PEOPLE, What can I do? Where have all my photos in my library gone? Why will it only rebuild now only to 5500 photos. Please shoot my some ideas and help if you can. It is unlikely that your problem is a corruped preference file - the correction for that is
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.
It is likely that you have a corrupted library - and backups are NOT just to protect against hardware failures
Note - things fail - software - computers - people - and if you do NOT always have a current backup you will lose all of your photos and other data sooner or later
And the managed library has NOTHING to do with the library you have selected - it has to do with iPhoto preferences you have selected -
Were the "missing" photos only missing when the EHD was no tavailable as you implied?
and do you have a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or a referenced library - if htat option checked or unchecked?
