Missing playlists from my iPhone?

I seem to remember a time when I had automatic playlists on my phone such as 'top rated', 'top 25 most played', 'recently purchased' etc, which I liked and found useful. The problem is they seem to have suddenly disappeared and I don't know why. I can't find them anywhere. Can anyone help?

I had the same problem but only on my iphone 4. I had songs which showed on my iphone playlists on my mac but were not on my iphone. My solution was to delete the playlist from my iphone and also delete the songs from the artists in the music section of the iphone. Don't know why but this doesn't seem to work by only deleting the playlist.
Create a brand new smart playlist from the music library on your computer and drag this to your iphone icon.
This solved my problem . Hope it helps.

  • Why can't I delete a playlist from my iPhone without it being deleted on my kids iMac?

I consolidated music on my Macbook pro with my family iMac using iTunes Match. What I can't understand is that I can't "turn off" certain playlists. When I deleted some of my daughters' playlists from my iPhone, it removed the playlist from the iMac. Am I missing something? I had over 100 playlists  listed, many of which I will never use. I can't imagine that Match isn't more versitile.

Now that you mention it, my parents don't need to see my playlists, either.  Hadn't thought of that.
I accidently stumbled on an "ad-hoc" workaround that helped me.   The downside is that it only works with smart playlists so it may or may not work for you.  But here it is anyway:
Smart playlists will not be uploaded to the cloud if they refeence another playlist on the cloud.  So I created a "catch-all" smart playlist and added a reference to that in all the smart playlists I don't want to share.
I also noticed that playlists with more than just music are not uploaded.  You could add a short video or something to the playlists that are only for the iMac.  This obviously won't work if your daughter needs them on her iDevice.
I know these aren't good solutions, but I hope they help someone.
    Cheers,

  • Can I restore a playlist from my iPhone back into iTunes?

My playlist disapeared from iTunes, but it is still in my iPhone.  Is there any way to restore my playlist from my iphone back into iTunes?

iTunes is designed to 'sync' onto iPods, NOT the other way 'round. In order to copy content from an iPod back onto a computer, it requires a third-party utility (if you Google 'iTunes alternatives' you'll see many possible options]. Most of them are free.

  • Hello, are there many others having problems with creating Genius Playlists from their iPhone 5's

    Hello People,
are there many others experiencing problems creating Genius Playlists from their iPhone 5's???
I have a 64GB Black iPhone 5 and a 32GB White iPhone 5, I have recently performed a fresh install (wiped phone memory and installed Apps individually again) yet even after this and no less then several calls to Apple I am still unable to create a genius playlist on either phone. The message I receive after hitting the Genius "star" is "The operation couldn't be completed. Operation timed out" Operation timed out."
I have tried this also on 3G and receive the same message........

I wish Apple would have provided more detail on how it worked. I wouldn't have posted this if I new that SMS & Mac Calling had nothing to do with Bluetooth pairing.
You mean like this? Get help using Continuity with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite
Please note how Apple articulates this though.
    Check your settings
Check the following settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn on Wi-Fi if necessary.
Make sure your iOS devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network by going to Settings > Wi-Fi and comparing the name of the network each is on.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth if necessary.
Go to Settings > General > Handoff & Suggested Apps and make sure Handoff is on.
Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.
Sometimes things have to be explained in more detail for the general consumer who has been conditioned for decades to think about wireless  cellphone audio / light data to [anything other device else] connectivity in a certain fashion. That is to say Bluetooth dependent ...
For the non-technical person, which overwhelmingly many Apple users are, they would see that bulleted point and think if Bluetooth is not paired and active, then they would not received the full scope of their Continuity features.
It would have been better for the copywriter who wrote this to (*) footnote this entry and explain that while Bluetooth recognition may be necessary between Yosemite and iPhone, SMS Push to iMessage and Mac Calling does not require an actively paired connection as these functions are dependent on iCloud and both devices being registered on the same WiFi network.
Thank you to all who helped me get my mind around and figure this out.
It has also opened my eyes to how iCloud has become a critical link in Apple's overall walled garden  and business strategy.

  • Transfer playlists from my iPhone back onto my computer

Is it possible to transfer playlists from my iPhone back onto my computer.  They use to be on my computer but are now gone.  Thanks,

If you did not back up your iTunes library, the short answer is no, as the iPhone is designed to delete the music data when connecting to an new computer / hard drive.
.......however there are some 3rd party softwares designed to do this, and if you seek these out, they will likely work for you.
Here is one I found by google searching - http://thelittleappfactory.com/irip/index_irip1.php

  • Why when I removed smart playlists from my iPhone are they removed from iTunes?

So I was trying to remove some playlists from my iPhone then reload them so the sort order would be correct.  But after I removed the playlists from my phone then synced with iTunes, the playlists were removed from iTunes.  Why?  Can they be recovered?  I had a few I really liked.

    Hi Makki28,
I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue with your iPhone. If you are having issues with incomplete transfers of your purchases from your iPhone to iTunes on your Mac, you may want to double check that you are following the steps as outlined in the following article:
Re-download or transfer your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad or iPod to a computer - Apple Support
If you are still having incomplete albums, you may also want to try directly redownloading the purchases from within iTunes, as noted in this article:

  • How can I transfer my playlists from my iPhone to my new iTunes account?

I am transfering my iTunes to my new Mac. I have successfuly gotten the music transfered over via external harddrive. How can i also transfer my playlists which do not show up without remaking them?
    Help would be appreciated.

As sberman noted, it would be much better if you transferred everything from your old computer. This will import yoru iTunes library and everything (playlists, artwork, etc.)
To copy playlists from yoru iPhone...
Select the iPhone on the left sidebar in iTunes. (If you cannot see the left sidebar, menu View > Show sidebar)
Click the triangle to the left of the iPhone name to view the contents of the iPhone.
Right click on a playlist name then Export...
To import this playlist into iTunes, menu File > Libraty > Import playlist and select the file you saved.

  • I want to save playlists from my iPhone to iTunes in new computer. How?

Like an idiot, I didn't have my entire music library backed up. Hard drive crashed. I'd like to move all my music playlists from the iPhone to the iTunes on my new computer. Anyone know how? I was able to move the "purchased" from the phone to the computer, but not all of my play lists... Help!

You can try (at your own risk) a third party program.
There is no way to do tis without an unsupported third party program.

  • Lost iTunes playlists from my iPhone 5

I suddenly lost my iTunes playlists from my iphone 5. I have not upgraded to ioS 7.1 for two reasons--I don't like the layout, and I only have 1.2 GB of the required 4.1 GB free. Please help!! I have all my songs still in my library on my phone, along with everything except for my playlists. I hope they are hidden, not deleted. Everything is intact on my iTunes account on my desktop computer.

Try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears.  No data will be lost.
All playlists and content should be in iTunes on the computer, if nothing else, sync the device to the computer.

    That's irrelevant.

There is no free space requirement to update the device via iTunes on the computer.  This is also the preferred method to update iOS.

  • I cannot remove albums and playlists from my iPhone; I deselect them in iTunes, but they remain.  I can add new albums and playlists

I cannot remove albums and playlists from my iPhone; I deselect them in iTunes, but they remain.  I can add new albums and playlists

How did the photos/albums get onto the phone ?
Only photos taken with the iPhone or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the phone - either via the trashcan icon at the bottom right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it top right in thumbnail view. Albums that you've created directly on the phone can be deleted via the Edit button at the top right of the album selection screen.
Photos/albums that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from on your computer and then re-syncing

how can i sync all my music and playlists from my iphone to my new computer

Yes.  You can sync everything that is currently on your iPod Touch to your newer one. Just plug it in and sync it like you did with the old one.
If you want to retain your App data, see this article for information on backing up your current iPod Touch and restoring the backup onto a new one.

If you purchase the iPad, keep in mind that some Apps may not be compatible with it.

  • I am missing playlists on my iPhone

I can see all my playlists in iTunes, but they did not sync to my phone. Also, since installing iMatch, I am missing songs. Does anyone know how to sync my library on my iPhone the way I have it in iTunes?

iTunes Match does not handle playlists well.  You can turn off iTunes Match on your iPhone and synchronise in the original way - this will give you the playlists from the iTunes client.
