Missing Playlists

Hello,
I had an issue with itunes about a week ago. When trying to launch itunes
my computer said it couldn't be found. With numerous attempts I was able to launch, but it said the itunes file had been damaged. When itunes launched, it started adding all of my songs back to the library, 1 by 1. My problem now is that some of the playlists on the top right are missing. I'm missing games, podcasts, audiobooks and ringtone. All though I do have games, podcasts and audiobooks on my IPod, I can't see them in itunes.

I'm having the same problem and also some of my artists are also missing. I've had a post in the forums about this issue for about 4 months now and nothing yet.

Missing Playlists on Left Hand Menu

I recently upgraded to version 9 and found out that only 10 of 40 my playlists appear on the left hand column. Yet when I view the list on the right hand side, all the music is there.
How can I get the rest of the playlists to re-appear on the left hand side?
I'm using Windows XP on a desktop. Thanks.

The triangle next to the main Playlists folder is pointing down.
I set up a subfolder for a few streaming radio stations. The missing (and non-missing) playlists have not been put into a subfolder. They are all smart playlists (I don't know if that makes a difference).
I have the latest Itunes. Should I try re-installing?

My iPOD video is missing playlists

My iPod is missing playlists it only has 90s music and On the Go. It also has one blank spot which says nothig and has nothign in it. Does anyone know hwy this si happening and how I can fix it?

HT1451 How to restore missing playlists

I was updating to iOS 7 on my ipad 2. I did the upgrade through iTunes. First, I did a a complete sync and then did the upgrade.
After the iOS 7 upgrade and the restore to my iPad, I noticed that about half of my playlists were missing in iTunes. All my music is still in iTunes but playlists are gone.
Anything I can do to get the playlists back?

The default playlists are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist

You can do 50s, 60s, 70s & 80's by adjusting the range
Recently Added:
Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.
Top 25 Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Items">selected by "Most often played"
Recently Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Items">selected by "Most recently played" make the "limit to" to suit yourself.
Top Rated:
Match the rule "My Rating">"is">"5 Stars" You can make that as many stars as you like from 1 to 5. Or you can make your rule "My Rating">"is greater than">"3 Stars" for example.
Video:
Match the rule "Video Kind">"Is">"Music Video" You can also have Movie or TV Show
For all of these also check the box "Live Updating"

Sync missing playlists

I like to manage music on my iPod with playlists. When I attach my iPod to my Mac, the list of playlists available to sync is missing some of the playlists I created. For example, I create 6 playlists in iTunes but only 3 of them show up in the list of playlists when I select Sync by playlist.
Went into the Apple Store to meet the so-called Genius. After an hour and a quarter, the only suggestion he could come up with was to wipe my Mac clean and re-install the OS. I decided on a different approach by creating a new user, then copying my music to a shared drive, and pointing my iTunes for the new user to the music folder on the shared drive. Still getting the same problem.
I'm running iTunes 10.7 (21) on OS X 10.6.8. (Snow Leopard) on an Intel iMac.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Ah, different issue. Is it possible that you (or someone else using your system) have inadvertently deleted the playlists? If you have a recent backup of your library (which you really should), restore that. Otherwise it is possible that you're seeing the result of corruption to your library (typical symptoms would be a completely empty library, or one that contains just iTunes Store purchases available for cloud download). Looking create a script for itunes to replace missing playlist songs

Hello, basically all of the songs in my itunes folder got erased, so in itunes they were replaced with "!". I dragged the library folder back into itunes, and they were all found in the "Library" but not in the playlists. Is there a way to create an apple script to link the found tracks in itunes with the missing songs in the playlists?

I found that this is full of 'Users' and more likely to be experienced using AppleScript and Automator.
Although I don't say that someone here won't be able to help. Just might take longer here or, as you yourself suggest, may need posting elsewhere on this site. Just speaking from previous experience of both sites

Missing Playlist

A playlist is missing on my iPhone5. It's showing up on my Mac desktop iTunes library, along with other playlists. Why can't I retrieve it when syncing to the Mac desktop?

Missing songs, missing videos, and missing playlist

Now that I updated itunes seems like I'm missing videos. Before the update I was and still am missing songs and playlist. This includes songs I had put in with cd's.
I don't dare try to sync my phone or ipad. My phone has all the music on there from when itunes wasn't broke.I just have to deal with changing the Christmas music right away. I thought maybe the update would help. Silly me.

You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and ask them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. Missing playlists and play counts

I recently upgraded from a MacBook to a MacBook Pro. I have everything back up via Time Machine, when I looked into iTunes I discovered all my music was there but my playlists and play counts were missing. Does anyone know how to recover these from Time Machine?

found the solution it's the file "itunes library.itl" I just pulled that from my latest backup and voila everything is back in place. sweet!

iTunes Match does not handle playlists well. You can turn off iTunes Match on your iPhone and synchronise in the original way - this will give you the playlists from the iTunes client.

Missing playlists after transfer? Here's 1 solution

I was just helping a friend of mine with a common issue I've seen on the boards: the loss of playlists after a transfer from another computer. In this case, it was files moved from an old PC to a new iMac -- the music transferred, but the playlists were missing. Not wanting to start over from scratch, I found a quick solution for her:

This is a free app that allows you to sync music and other content from an iPod/iPhone back onto your Mac -- including playlists. Luckily, my friend had all of her playlists represented on her iPod so this was fairly easy. The app has a setting (turned on by default in the prefs) to only "reference" files that are already on the iMac, meaning that it would not re-copy songs and therefore avoid duplicates. We plugged in the iPod, hit sync in the app and it transferred all of her playlists back into iTunes. Like buttah.
Notice I said "free"; if you wind up using this app to save the headache of reconstructing your whole iTunes playlist catalog, maybe throw the guys a few bucks, eh?

Found them! They were in the folder that wouldn't let me open it. To get permission I had to go to the folder and get info, then change the permissions.
