Missing Plug-In Error

Hello All!
I have a user who is using Adobe InDesign CS2, and has recently been getting an error when trying to open his workspace; he is not opening CS3/CS4 documents, just CS2. His workspace also does not populate with his tools, but I'll save that post for a rainy day...
Attached is a screenshot of his errors. He is running on Windows XP professional, I believe SP2 or 3. He does not recall when the issue started happening exactly.  We do not have the reinstallation disk(s), and Adobe cannot provide one as this version is no longer supported (which means I cannot get phone support either). If any light could be shed on this, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

Hello guys,
He does not get the error unless he directly is trying to open a document; I am still trying to locate the original installation disk, but I've been reading on similar posts that people have tried starting completely over and the issue had not resolved itself. I tried resetting to the defaults (launching and holding Shift+Ctrl+Alt), and renaming a couple folders so that InDesign would create a new one, but no luck there. Also,  the fact the the workspace/pallates are completely gone worries me; pressing tab does nothing, selecting the default workspace does nothing. I'm going to continue looking for the disks for a reinstallation, but if anyone has any advice, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

  • Upgrade to 18.0 has disabled Java even though plugin checker says Java 7 Update 10 is up to date, yet webpages using java display "missing plug in" error

Attempting to install the "missing plug-in" using the Firefox prompts results in Java 7 Update 10 being installed, re-installing it is successful and does not resolve the issue, Firefox 18 refuses to allow/display java content even with the proper updated version of Java installed.
This problem ONLY occurred immediately following this mornings update to Firefox 18.0.

    Context:
    Yesterday: Java working fine.
This morning: Update to Firefox 18.0
Java will not work, not at all even with Java 7 Update 10 installed, not even the "verify java version" applet at http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp will display.
When attempting to view/display any java content the "missing plug-in" error bar at the top of the page displays and attempting to install the required plug-in via that method does not resolve the issue even though the correct version of Java is installed and the plug-in checker verified it was "up-to-date".

  • Missing plug-ins error

    Hello everyone,
I am attempting to open an InDesign document that a client sent me and I keep getting missing plug in errors. I am using Indesign Cs5 on a Mac with Os 10.6. I have run into this issue before when trying to open files made on older versions of InDesign so I attempted to open the file with both Cs3 and Cs4 without any luck. Is there some where I can down load the missing plugins so I can view this file? If it helps at all the error I recieve is "Missing Plug-ins Shared Content.InDesign plugin", I scenerly hope I dont have to update to cs5.5 after only having cs5 for a year.

    It’s a CS5.5 file.
If you upgrade to CS5.5 now you’ll get CS6 for free.

  • Suddenly getting "Missing Plug-Ins" errors when opening .indd files in InDesign CS2

I have a PC running Windows 7 and InDesign CS2. The laptop's installation of Windows was corrupted and I had to re-install the OS. I backed up all files, reinstalled the OS, and then reinstalled applications. One of those applications was InDesign CS2. However, after the installation of CS2 on the fresh copy of Windows, I noticed that I have trouble opening most, but not all, of the InDesign files on my hard drive.
When I try to open a .indd file I see an error message pop up that says "Missing Plug-ins. LILO.APLN, DYNAMICDOCUMENTS.RPLN, CONDITIONALTEXT.RPLN" and three more. Under that list of missing plugins is the warning "This document uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?"  If I click "okay" I then am met with another dialog box that says "Cannot open file. TEXT.RPLN, LAYER.RPLN" and on and on for about 60 more items.
I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING! I've searched around concerning this issue and it appears the consensus is that the file was opened by a newer version of InDesign. That possibility is, in fact, an impossibility. Never have I used a newer version of InDesign. The files that I am working on were backed up, stored on local storage and not touched once before reinstalling the OS and reinstalling InDesign CS2.
I also noticed that not all InDesign file formats were associated with InDesign in "Windows Programs and Defaults." I changed those to look to InDesign. I've also uninstalled InDesign CS2 and re-installed.
Not all InDesign CS2 files are exhibiting this behavior. So far, it appears more than half are, but some can be opened with no problems. There seems to be no correlation between which ones are able to be opened and which ones can't be opened.
What could have happened to these files and is there any possibility of opened them again? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Conditional Text was a new feature in CS4. I'm thinking, can you explain how your old CS2 documents became aware of it?
    Not exactly sure myself. Abiogenesis?
    [Edit]
Almost forgot. I wrote a script to unequivocally determine the InDesign version a document was last saved as:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4071273
I'll give that a try today. Even an affirmative judgement that the files are newer than CS2 would not impress me however. The fact remains, the files were copied off one hard drive over to another, the plug was pulled on the hard drive, the PC was re-imaged, CS2 was reinstalled, the files were copied back over... and whammo.

  • Output module, missing plug-in error message

    Hi there
I'm running AE CS5 on my macbook pro and until yesterday it's been working fine. Now when I open it it comes up with this output module, missing plug-in message:
    And then this one:
    Then it crashes completely.
I researched it a bit online and discovered it could be some security software interfering so I tried logging in with another user account and AE ran fine.
I need to run it from my main user account. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
    Many thanks!

Hi there, so I have tried to repair permissions. I did this while logged into my main account (the one AE keeps crashing in) and selected 'repair permissions' for the Mac HD. I'm not sure if I was supposed to select specifically the Applications file but this wasn't an option. I restarted but AE still crashes.
I also tried copying the AE folder to my desktop and starting it from there and installing all software updates.
The firewall is off and it works from the other user account. I'm not sure any of the other things on the list apply. There were a few suggestions involving files and RAM around but I wouldn't want to mess around with that as I'm not sure what's supposed to go where.
Any more ideas would be much apreciated!
    Thanks again.

  • When packaging an InDesign file get missing plug-in error msg?

When going to package an InDesign file, we get a message about missing a plug-in, and the only option is to hit "OK" which stops the packaging process. The info on the (missing???) plug-in says: SMD Channels Model.SDK.inDesign plug-in.
We are using CS5, with all the latest updates installed. Thanks for any assistance.

    I found this: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/484963
Id try exporting the file to .idml and see if that removes the reference. see Remove minor corruption by exporting

  • Missing plug ins

I am trying to insert an image using indesign and it comes up with a missing plug in error, (stopping the image from loading) can anyone help please?

Thanks Peter! I will try this on Monday when I get back into work. It's the first time I have used this program therefore I am still learning lol. I want to design my own flyers, promo material etc for my small business as I am fed up with paying designer costs when I can do it myself. Would you know of any useful tutorial links that I could use to help me
learn to use this program confidentially?

    judykpete,
try visiting this Adobe page — does it show that some version of Flash is currently installed on your MacBook Pro, or does just a grey box show? If it’s the latter, then you’ll need to install Flash; instructions to do so can be found further down on that same page.

  • PDF files won't display. Error message "Missing Plug-ins"

Hello. I am having trouble with adobe reader but only certain files. When I first signed up for school in may Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader were required and when I did the check plug-ins system check, both were installed and running just fine. Just in the past 2 days is the check plug-ins test saying Adobe reader is not installed. I have tried un-installing and re-installing but still saying it is not installed. I'm not having troubl with all adobe reader files. I'm an online student and my e-books are opening and displaying just fine. Also my pdf documents saved on my computer are opening just fine. When I try to view a websites brochure, a websites sale paper, or maybe open up an article, the page pops up but the image won't display. It keeps saying "missing Plug-ins". I have a MAC 10.6.8. running on Safari and I have downloaded Adobe Reader 10.1.0. I need to be able to open up articles because I'm doing a homework assignment that requires one. If u can help in any way, please do.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the discussions about missing plug-ins in Mail.  None of them worked.  I can see attachements in the emails, but when I forward them, the missing plug-in shows up in place of the attachments on the forwarded email.  I'm running the latest OS 10.7 on my Mac Pro and I just downloaded the latest Java app.  HELP!!

  • Forwarding pics error missing plug ins

I recently received an email with 23 attachments. I opened and all read fine and could see everything. I went to forward it and scrolled down where all the pictures said missing plug ins.
I can see them in the original email but not when forwarding.
    Any suggestions to solve.\

I saw lots of people suggesting that playing with the Java Preferences application in the Utiities folder solved the problem for them.  It didn't work for me.  I was trying to forward an email I received from my sister (who has a Windows machine) to some of my friends.  Yes, it had pictures of cute dogs.  I found a work-around.
Under the "Message" menu, select "Copy to . . ." and select "Drafts" in one of your mail accounts.  When I did this, a copy of the email ended up in the draft box with all the pictures just like the original.  Then I double-clicked on the draft message, which opened it up in its own window, with all the pictures still appearing as they should.  All I had to do was enter the addresses and click send, and it was on its way.
    Brian.

Do not follow links from error messages; go direct to Adobe's site and download the latest version from there.
10.3.181.26 is the latest version - added this week.

  • "Missing Plug ins" in InDesign CS6

    Hi,
lately, I've got installed CS6 Standard on a Windows XP machine, German version. There were CS2 and CS4 formerly on this workstation. The admin deleted the CS2 before installing cs6.
Now, every part of CS6 is up and running - except for InDesign CS6.
Upon launching InDesign CS6, I keep getting error messages saying, among others:
"Adobe InDesign erkennt  [plug-in name here] nicht als gültiges Zusatzmodul. Installieren Sie  das Zusatzmodul [plug-in name here] neu, und starten Sie InDesign erneut. Diese Meldung wieder anzeigen? (JA) (NEIN)".
    and/or:
"Zum Laden von [another plug-in name here] is JBX erforderlich. Installieren Sie  das Zusatzmodul JBX und starten Sie InDesign erneut. Diese Meldung wieder anzeigen? (JA) (NEIN)".
The first message appears several times along with diverse plug-in names ( ssignment UI, InCopy Bridge UI, InCopyExport, InCopyImport…). The other one concerns only this "JBX", if I remember correctly.
After all the message are clicked away (it does not matter if I click on JA or NEIN), InDesign CS6 launches in a crippled form, with no palettes, with reduced menus, and it is crashing upon trying to choose the "Preferences".
The Prefs were already deleted with the appropriate keyboard shortcut.
What's the issue and how do I get InDesign CS6 to work?

First of all you should know which Plugin is missing. Then you have to buy it for CS6 and install it properly with the Extension Manager.
This is not the issue, I think. There was never a 3rd part extension installed along with former ID CS version. So I don't think we'd had to buy any.
I suppose the Adminstrator has copied the plugin from an older version to the newer version and the plugin seems not be compatible.
No, he didn't. AFAIK, he's just installed and registered the CS6 according to Adobe's instructions.
Another thing is obvious that a second plugin is missing which is used by the other plugin. This might be also a third party pi or a default is missing.
Yes, this is all fine, but again: there was never an extra plug in for ID CS 6 installed on the system. Every version was always installed simply "as it is", because we don't need external plug ins to work with.
Another thing: It is good to keep older versions installed on the computer for a while when a new version is installed. When all documents have been migrated you can delete (uninstall) the old version. Not before. So it was not a good idea from the administrator to delete the older version.
You have possibly misunderstood me. Your hint to keep the previous version is highly appreciated; this is, actually, the way we'we been processing with every major software update for years, as well as this time. Only the whole CS2 was deleted, since it was succesfully preventing (on three different Windows workstations) the CS6 installer to do it's job. CS4 is still installed and working.
The missing plug in issue doesn't exist au dem MacBook Pro, by the way, which was also upgraded from CS4 to CS6. Maybe because I am actually the "admin" of it
