Missing Podcast on iTunes

Everytime I plug my iPod in, all my music, playlists, and podcasts are missing and I have to redo everything. And it also says that my iPod is synched to another computer and it isn't. HELP!!!!!

Thank you Roger!  Please forgive my ignorance, but when you say "podcast creation program"... Are you referring to the host website that I use for my podcast?  I upload each episode to Podbean. Then iTunes grabs it from there.
From the way you described it, I bet that is what is happening. How would I go about changing the setting to increase the number of podcasts allowed? Would I do that on podbean or iTunes?
Here is the link to my podcast on iTunes:

Thanks!

  • Missing podcast files in iTunes

I probably didn't do this right, but I changed a video file into a podcast by right clicking and choosing info and changing the media kind to podcast (from movie). It does not show up and is completely missing now in itunes including trying to re-import the file. I tried it again with a different video file - same results - poof.
    1) How do I change it back when it is missing?
    2) How do I get it to show as an podcast if I so choose?
    I appreciate the help everyone
    Ken

Ive never done this with a movie file, but with an audio file what you get is a podcast with an empty title, which when you click the disclosure triangle show the file as an episode within it. You can't get it to show directly in the podcast list, because a podcast is defined by its feed, which in this case doesn't exist.
If you're not seeing why it's displayed in this way I can't answer that; your best bet would be to use Spotllght to see whether you can find the actual file.

  • ITunes 8 -  podcast count includes missing podcast episodes

In iTunes 8 (under podcasts tab) most of my podcasts seem to have disappeared, but they are still included in the episode count for each show. For example, iTunes says I have 20 episodes of MacBreak Weekly, and 3 not-listened to, but only one episode displays when I click the icon to open MacBreak Weekly. The counts are probably about correct for the number of podcasts I previously had, but where are all the missing podcast episodes, and why are they counted if they are not there? I couldn't find anyone else posting this problem.
    Any ideas?

I am also having the same issue. The count shows what I expect it to show, but the list is missing podcasts. If I dig into the file system, the Podcasts are there, but no matter what, I can not get them to show in Itunes8

  • HT1819 I noticed that some of my podcast are missing from the iTunes store. What is the cause of that?

I noticed that some of my podcast are missing from the iTunes store. What is the cause of that?

That suggests that the tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Link to Podcast in iTunes Store Missing in iTunes 10

In previous versions of iTunes, there was a button at the right side of the "Podcast" column in list view. Clicking on this button would immediately take you to the podcast's iTunes store page where you could post a review, write a review, etc. This convenience is missing from iTunes 10.
If anyone knows of a workaround or a way to bring the button back, I would sure appreciate it!

I'm so glad to see this post here!!! When that little triangle disappeared in iTunes 10 I had a minor freak out. I have 83 different podcast feeds in my podcast list (I just counted -- that's even more than I thought I had, yeesh), and like others who commented here, I don't subscribe to all of them, but I want to check several of them on a regular basis. It's totally annoying to have to go to the store and search for the podcast each time.
I sort of wonder if it's a way to get us to navigate through the iTunes Store front page every time we want something from the podcast realm on there. In other words, is it maybe a sales tactic? Like putting chocolate bars at eye level for my kids at the supermarket checkout line?
At any rate, I'd love to see that feature back too. A LOT.

  • When I delete a podcast in iTunes it is still on iPhone after sync; just in the cloud.

When I delete a podcast in iTunes it is still on iPhone after sync; just in the cloud (it has a close and download icon). All I want to do is delete it. I Now I have to delete in manually from all devices. I have not listened to it either.
Also, I cannot use the selling to delete played podcasts, because I want to keep some of them.
    I have IOS 8.1, iTunes 12.0.. and OSX 10.10.1. iPhones 4,5 and 6 and iPad Air 2
In the good old days, you deleted in iTunes and the next time you synced it, it was removed from the iPhone, iPods and iPads. Now, I have to update them all.
Note: Subscription takes place on my Mac, not the other devices.
Am I missing something, because this is a real pain?
    Thanks
    Tony..

You aren't mssing anything. As far as I am aware, this is simply the process that you need to take to remove them.

  • Missing episodes from iTunes.

Has anyone noticed missing episodes on iTunes? I purchased a season pass for "Please Like Me" and episode 4 is missing.

Whether iTunes has synced all six episodes to your Apple TV or is planning on streaming them, all six episodes should appear on your TV. (When iTunes is running on your Mac, otherwise +only synced+ items appear on your Apple TV.) Do you have "Show only the synced items on my Apple TV" selected in iTunes, under the Summary tab?
Although I don't have a definitive answer, what I'd try is:
    1) Quit and restart iTunes. Ensure that your Apple TV can see iTunes, perhaps by downloading some podcast to your Mac and verifying that you can see it on your Apple TV.
    2) In iTunes, switch to Custom Sync and then go to the TV Shows tab and sync All Episodes of just that one show. Remember to press the Sync button.
    3) Try restarting the Apple TV by holding both the Menu and Down arrow buttons for several seconds (six?).
    4) Try playing the troublesome episodes in iTunes. Ensure that they're marked as Not New (right click the episodes and select "Mark as Not New" from the context menu).
    Good luck!

  • Missing podcasts and Vista

I am having the same problem that others have experienced with iTunes in that podcasts that I have sucessfully downloaded subsequently disappear the next time I start iTunes.
I have seen the solution for an XP system, but Vista saves the user info in a slightly different way. Does anyone know which folders to delete under Vista?
Plus, is there a fix coming anytime soon? This is getting frustrating to the point that I am ready to junk iTunes and find another program to manage and move my podcasts.
I would say that about 20% of my podcasts are being affected by this problem. What really angers me is that I have been unable to find a way to redownload or fix short of having to go into the iTunes store and find the missing podcast.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    @King_Penguin thanks for your help
    See below some additional info:
    I have 3 Macs:
    1 X MBPr 2012 (OS X 10.9.1
    1 X MBPr 2012 (OS X 10.8.5)
    1 X iMac 2009 (OS X 10.8.5)
    1) All 3 Macs have access to same accounts and have same apps in iTunes.
    2) Problem is only found on both MBPr's 2012 with one NL and 1 US account. With one NL account (inactive) I have no issue on all three.
FYI I have multiple iTunes accounts: 2 for the Netherlands and 1 for US.
I also tried this after deleting the only 2 apps I got from the US iTunes Store but that did not solve my issue.
I think the matter is related to my iTunes account(s) and NOT to a computer (prefs file)

  • Where to sign up to sell podcasts on iTunes?

Where is the page to create the proper iTunes Connect account specifically for Podcast content creators?
Apple's "Sell Content" page http://www.apple.com/itunes/working-itunes/sell-content/  does not even mention podcasts. But I did click on the "Learn More" and "Get Started" blue buttons and again "podcasts" are not listed anywhere except in the little drop-down box at the bottom, and that takes me to a login page with Apple ID, but every time I enter my Apple ID, it keeps telling me to create an iTunes Connect account and gives this message "Your Apple ID isn't enabled for iTunes Connect".   The problem is that nowhere do they lead me by providing a link to how to create that specific account for 'podcasts'.  They only have links for other categories like "music, movies, developers or TV shows.
If there is no link to create the account from "iTunes Connect Online Application", or from the other link above, then I don't know where it would be. So where is the page to create the proper iTunes Connect account specifically for Podcast content creators and sellers?

    D-Gordon,
You have never paid for a podcast from the podcast section of iTunes in iTunes - every podcast listed in iTunes is free in the podcast section.
The first link you sent is to an App for a podcast - but not a podcast.
If you want to have an app people pay for that is different than what you asked about - there is no iTunes connect accounts for the podcast section of iTunes.
But 100% you have never paid for podcasts in iTunes Podcast section - and the other link was speculation about what might happen - and never did.
There are no podcasts in the podcast section of iTunes where you pay for them in iTunes - and not only that it is against Apples rules to even put up a password protected feed - that users pay for externally.
    Here are apples rules.
    =======================
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html
    Submission Queues
After submitting your podcast to the iTunes Store, it will be reviewed and must be approved by Apple. Podcasts with technical problems, such as missing episodes or incorrect RSS podcast feed URL, will be rejected. These problems can almost always be avoided by testing your podcast feed prior to submission.
Podcasts and their associated content must not contain any of the following:
    – Password protection
    =======================
If you want to get a paid podcast up - it needs to be as an App and can not be as a podcast in the podcast section of iTunes and where people pay via iTunes.
You can do what Marc Maron, Aisha Tyler, Adam Carolla and others have done - get an app and add premium to it.

  • I have two questions about my podcast on iTunes - Image and Author

Hello. I have very recently added my podcast to iTunes,  by submitting the RSS-feed that is given by wordpress (that's where I have my podcast homepage) It looks allright, and the feed includes Name of podcast, title of podcast shows, description and in some cases even length of the podcasts. There's two things not showing though, and that's an image for the iTunes page, and the name of the authors.
I'm not sure if you're allowed to link to your feed like this, but here is however the feed that I've sent to iTunes: http://rodrost.wordpress.com/category/podcast/feed/ . I thought that the picture up in the right (of me and a friend) would be the picture showing up on iTunes. And I don't understand where in my feed to put in the authors. If you could answer my questions I would be very grateful, thank you.
    / Joar.
(This is how it looks on iTunes http://itunes.apple.com/se/podcast/rodrost-podcast-podcast/id507886804 )

Posting your feed URL is not only allowed, it's necessary to get answers to most questions, so thank you for posting it.
You are missing some necessary entries in your feed. The second line of your feed should include the 'iTues declaration':
    xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0"
which should be added within the 'rss' tag. Without this iTunes cannot read the 'itunes:...' tags which are in any case missing. The image is carried in the 'itunes:image' tag and your name in the 'itunes:author' tag, and there are other tags which carry information - your podcast is working without them but some information is as you see missing.
This page includes a sample basic feed so that you can see what I'm talking about:
    http://rfwilmut.net/pc
I can't advise on Wordpress: it seems likely that you need the PodPress plugin to get this to work properly, but I'm not sure whether you can do it without.

  • Error Publishing Podcast to ITunes using IWeb

I am getting the following error publishing my podcast to Itunes using Iweb.
We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 500
When I checked the rss.xml doc that iweb generates, it is very different from what itunes gives as an example. Do you guys plan on making your software match to the Itunes requirements so that it will post. I can edit and upload the xml file, but when iweb publishes again it will simply change it back to the wrong file.
Is there an update coming? What should I do?

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems that from GarageBand the only podcast option is to send it to iWeb. The option exists: "send song" to iTunes, but not "send podcast" directly to iTunes. I don't know if there's a meaningful difference between "song" and "podcast," but I've decided to wait.
I contacted Apple (apparently I haven't yet exhausted my free tech-support options since the purchase of this MacBookPro) and was told that the problem is most likely with iTunes. We'll see what the iTunes team has to say...
Further info I've learned: the audio podcast episode somehow got converted to a ".mov" file somewhere along it's path from being created in GarageBand to it's submission to iTunes. This is still a mystery to me as I specifically chose "MP3" when sending the episode from GarageBand to iWeb. Apple tech-support has passed me along the chain to the iTunes folks who only do tech support via email. So we'll see...

  • Problem with podcasts and iTunes 6.0.1.3

    Hi everybody!
First of all, please excuse my poor English: I'm French. I'll try to do my best to write as well as I can.
I have some difficulties with podcasts and iTunes 6.0.1.3.
When I "sign up" (FR: "s'abonner") to some podcasts, they are not updated in my iPod nano indeed (and some others are), although iTunes says: "Your iPod is updated" (FR: "Votre iPod est à jour").
I have no way to put these podcasts episodes in my iPod...
    Could you help me please?
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi iFriend,
try this, it worked for me:
    1) first of all, uninstall QuickTime and older versions of iTunes from your PC, using the "remove" button in the "install applications" tool that you find in the windows control panel.
    2) reboot the system
    3) turn off the windows firewall application; go into the windows control panel, double click on windows firewall and disable the firewall option
    4) if you have one, disable your Anti-Virus application; i mean its real-time protection.
    5) probably it's not necessary, but for being sure... download and launch the standalone installer of QuickTime (latest version)
    6) download and launch the iTunes + QuickTime installer from this web address
    7) as an option, i suggest you to download and install also iTunes Art Importer. It's a nice application, that allows you to import from the internet directly into iTunes the album ArtWorks of the selected tracks in iTunes. I installed it, and it works very well with iTunes 6.
    8) after all the installations, remember to enable both firewall and anti-virus previously disabled!
as i said, probably the 5th passage is not necessary, but i did it and it worked!
if you have any questions or feedbacks, just relpy to this topic. stay iTuned!
    bye, bye,
    Marco

  • How do i update my podcast on iTunes?

    Hello,
I submitted a podcast to iTunes and I need to update my image file, but cannot find where to do so. Anyone know where update podcast can be found?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

There is no 'update podcast' button.
I had a similar wish... first I posted a 'Concern' relating to a subject like 'downloads'. But I also reviewed my whole feed file etc and re-checked the format - jpeg, min 300x300 pixels. Then I uploaded the image into my feed file directory and re-checked my image url. I did this in part to make sure the directory had the right 'read' properties etc - since my podcast was OK I could assume it did so decided my image was better off in the same directory.
Then, I even posted a similar remark to yours on this BB in case anyone from Apple was looking. Then I sat back and waited... after about 48 hours the image was replaced.
My conclusion: Until we really know what procedures there are and whether some things are manual or automatic we have to try every avenue. However, checking that all the parameters are correct is the priority. e.g. use a feed validator etc. I don't know whether re-checking the validation of my feed (There were a couple of probs) etc was the main or only reason why my image was updated or whether it was some kind soul at Apple.
    Good luck!

  • Deleting podcasts from iTunes library AND iPod?!? HELP.

I have 61 podcasts on my iPod and in my iTunes library.
I didn't want them anymore, so I unsubscribed and deleted the podcasts from iTunes.
I synced to my iPod, assuming that the files would be automatically removed.
    But they weren't.
I've tried checking and unchecking "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the iPod device page.
I've tried checking "Sync all episodes of:.." and then not checking any podcasts.
It's not worked so far. My iTunes is up to date and everything..my iPod charged..
Im wondering HOW do you delete podcasts - or any other music, videos...etc - from your iPod and iTunes?
Please help! Reply soon, I'm in desperate need.
    Thanks.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
It appears that the mess resulted in the iPod seeing the computer/iTunes library as a new computer/iTunes library. If you sync to a new computer your iPod gets erased and the media in the iTunes library ends up on the iPod.
