Missing Print Settings

Unable to bring up Print Settings, Printer Color Management , or Copies settings on Mac with Leopard OS X 10.5.6 . I have an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 and am using Photoshop CS3 Extended. Think everything is updated for all programs, so not sure what I am doing wrong. Not able to print until this is cleared up. Have also contacted Epson but no response yet. Anxious to print! Appreciate any help.

Hey everyone.
I'm having the exact same issue, running PS CS5 on Snow Leopard (10.6.4)
Illustrator opens the dialog just fine...
Anyone?

  • Missing "Print Settings" in Canon printer dialog

    Hi,
I've Googled all over for this, but I haven't found an answer to this particular question. Maybe someone in here would know?
I want to print a photo from Lightroom 3 on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I have a Canon MP800R printer. I want Lightroom to manage the color, and I'm able to choose the glossy paper profile I want in the Print Job pane in Lightroom. However, when I click Print and get to the part where I should turn off color management in the printer dialog I'm not able to do so. There is no Print Settings section in the dialog box. As far as I understand, all the important stuff goes on in this Printer Settings section, see http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_print/lr2-print.htm. Why don't I see Print Settings?
I should add that if I go ahead anyway with Lightroom managed printing the colors are off, but if I use Managed by Printer the colors look decent.

OK  and to be sure: Do you have Color Management by Printer set to OFF ?
It's under  -I have a Canon Pixma 5000- Color Intensity-
    then:
    That works fine here.
(btw  A Canon photoprinter like the Pixma 4820 is very good and cheap.)

  • Missing print settings tab in lightroom

Anyone know how to get the print settings tab in lightroom?  I have the page setup tab--but not the print settings tab.

I was watching Julianne Koss on AdobeTV talking about printing in Lightroom 5.  The left bottom part of her screen has two “tabs”—one says “page set up” and one says print settings.  On my screen I only have “page setup”.  A great deal of her talk is about Print Settings—this is where you choose the printer, the presets, the copies, the pages, the print settings, media type, color, color settings, print quality---pretty much everything having to do with printing.   I don’t have that tab…VERY  frustrating!
Hers looks like the first attached photo  (see tabs that say page setup and print settings)
Mine looks like the second attached photo  (see only page setup tab)
    Thank you for your help.
    Take care,

  • Missing Print Settings in iPhoto 09

Ok so I have a friend who has upgraded to iPhoto09 from the 08 version. Everything seems to be fine but when he goes to print he is no longer seeing the options such as Standard, Contact Sheet, Simple Border, etc.
He has reinstalled iPhoto and found the same result. I have read the posts and looked suggestions for the Themes folders in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Themes folders and he has all of those right where they should be.
My question is where/how do I help him restore the print options?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Next, have your friend repair disk permissions with Disk Utility, reboot and try again.
Can your friend create and run a slideshow or print anything at all? If not then he'll have to reinstall iPhoto even though the themes are in their right place.
    Restoring iPhoto Themes
First look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation process described below:
1 - delete the current application.
2 - delete any files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in your HD/Library/Receipts folder.
3 - delete the Themes folder from your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder. Also look in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there then delete it also.
4 - mount the system disk that came with your computer, double click on the "Install Bundled Software Only" file and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
After installing reinstall the latest iPhoto updater again followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime version.

  • No Print Settings when printing from Leopard to a shared Epson on Tiger

I don't know if this is related to the printing problems in Aperture before Security Update 2008-002 v1.1 but I am still experiencing a missing "Print Settings" menu when printing from MacOS X 10.5.2 (Intel) to an Epson 4800 shared on a Mac (PowerPC) running Tiger. The printer is connected by FireWire.
I tried sharing the printer from a Mac running Leopard and the menu shows fine and printing is perfect. When printing from Leopard directly to the printer everything is okay too.
Should the Mac sharing the printer run the same system as the Macs printing to it? (pretty impossible in any company) or is this a persisting bug.
    Thanks for your help.

I solved this. At least for me. After spending an hour on the phone with Epson, they said it was Apple's problem. After spending an hour on the phone with Apple, they said it was Epson's problem. Sound familiar? Anyway I searched around the net for answers and I've found something that has worked. I downloaded this program: Gutenprint Uninstaller from this site http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3 and ran it on both computers. That got rid of any old gimp or guten drivers. Then from the same site I downloaded this package of drivers Gutenprint 5.1.7 and installed it on both computers. On the Tiger computer I added my printer (Epson 1400) selecting the gutenprint driver as its driver. Now my Leopard can see the printer settings and I can choose the type of paper, print quality, etc. These are all found in the printer interface window under "printer features". Hope this works for you. I'm happy again.

  • Printer Settings dialog missing when printing to another Mac with Bonjour

I want Photoshop to manage my color settings rather than my Epson 4800 or Epson SPRX 580 printers, so in the print dialog box I select the "Printer Color Management" tab and set color adjustments to the OFF position. This works fine as long as the printer is connected directly to my MacBook or my MacBook Pro. But if I try to send a job on my MacBook Pro via bonjour to either of the printers when it is connected to my MacBook, the print dialog is missing the choices of "Printer Color Management", "Printer Settings", etc.
All that is available are things like "Layout, Cover Page, Scheduler, Summary." The "Printer Settings, Color Management" options only show up on either computer when connected directly to the printer.
Is there a way to get those other choices (Printer Settings, Color Management) when printing over a bonjour network?
I'm on Mac OS 10.5.6 on the MacBook Pro and Mac OS 10.4.10 on the MacBook. I have downloaded all the driver updates from Epson and deleted and added the printers again with the same result.

HP must have release a driver update because we no longer encounter the problem.

  • Print settings dialog box  missing in lightroom 3.3

The Print Settings selection has mysteriously disappeared.  I have the other functions like "Layout", "Color Matching", Printer Features", ect.  The missing setting is, however, available if I print out of PS5. The "Print Settings" in Lr is not greyed out or has a slash thru it.  The menu item is not listed as a choice. Thanks,  Bob c.

  • Print settings missing from Elements 8.0 for my canon ip4820

I have the exact installation on my windows 7 pc and I get a detail screen with 5 print settings, on the macbook with Lion I get only 3 settings and I can't bring up the canon printer settings dialogue that allows me to set standard, photo, etc along with borderless, high quality, etc, you get the idea I think.  On mac I only get 1. Select printer 2. select paper size, and 3. select print size.  On windows 7 I have installed the same printer and I get 1-5 which includes also step 2 is a "printer settings" which includes a change settings and brings up an advanced settings box.
    Any Help is appreciated.

Well I am using a mac with photoshop elements and I imagine the print settings would be the same whether it was elements or full photoshop.  Maybe someone could provide a helpful response for a beginner here, thanks in advance.  but I'll look around for a more appropriate forum if there is one.

  • Redirected Printer Settings Greyed out and Missing Finisher & Trays

    Hi,
I have added a new local printer . The printer has 2 additional trays and a finisher added.
When I log onto the terminal server (server 2008 R2), the printer is redirected, but without the extra 2 trays and finisher. Most options are greyed out within the properties of the printer driver.
    Same as this issue here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/2eeeb270-9cbb-4628-ad22-0ef3df6549d6/printers-not-redirecting-properties-and-preferences
The driver is installed on the server and I have tried disabling the 2 GPO settings 'Use Terminal Services Easy Print printer driver first' and 'Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first'.
Does anyone know a solution to this??

Done a bit more digging and this is done 'by design' by Microsoft (I guess it's a limitation of their printing model, shame they haven't addressed this as the problem goes back to Server 2003 and still unresolved!).
This KB explains the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;243942
I can now change the device settings for the redirected printer driver (as per KB article above), but after logging off the terminal server and logging back on, the redirected printer reverts back to the default settings.
This is a massive problem for my customer as they are unable to use most of the features on their new copier (they work within a terminal server environment).
Anyone else had this problem and been able to save changes to the redirected printer settings??
    Thanks in advance.

  • Print Settings tab in the Print module is missing? (Windows 7)

The "How To" books always refer you to the Print Settings tab in the print module, but there isn't one in my Lightroom? How do I get around this?

Not sure which "How to" books you're referring to so hard to answer this.  Which specific settings are you wanting to change/control?
(..but if it's actual settings within the Printer's control software then it's accessed by clicking on the printer button at the bottom of the panel.)

  • Version 10.1.3 misses printing some lines. Is anyone else having this problem?

Using Adobe Reader X version 10.1.3 it misses printing some lines but prints perfectly with version 8.1.2.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I always match the entire project to the footage so this problem doesn't happen.
I have an after effects project dynamically linked to the project.  I think that may be causing the problem somehow, although that is also a 1440 project.
Again, I had no problems before.  I've done 10+ projects for this client with the same settings and am only now having problems.
I never recommend shooting in 1440, but that is what they wanted for whatever reason.  Always 1920x1080p or 1280x720p.

  • Printer settings not translating to shared printer

    Hello,
I have a HP LaserJet M600 603 printer setup on an SBS 2008 R2 machine.  I am sharing the printer out as 'Reception - Letterhead'.  In the settings of the printer on the print server (SBS 2008 R2 machine) I have configured the first page to print from
tray 2 and all other pages to print from tray 3.  I have two issues happening, depending on if I use the postscript driver or the dedicated printer driver/HP universal PCL6 driver.
    Issue 1
I can see Tray 3 in the default printing options when I look at them on the print server.  However, when I add the printer as a share on a Terminal Server session (2008 R2) tray 3 is missing.  Tray 3 is also missing if I add the printer on a Windows
8.1 Update 1 PC.  I figured it might be the driver so I made sure I had a new driver but the problem still persists.
Interestingly, if I add a local printer to my Windows 8.1 Update 1 PC but point it to the IP address of the printer; and use the same driver as on the SBS print server, I can see tray 3.  So it appears to me that something is going on when accessing
    the printer as a share.
    Issue 2
At one stage, before I started trying to resolve why I couldn't see tray 3 on my Windows 8.1 Update 1 PC, everything was working fine from the terminal server sessions.  Now, even after reverting to an older driver, the printer settings specified on
the print server do not 'hold' on the printer when added.  What happens is that all pages print from tray 2 instead of just the first one.  Here are some helpful screen shots.
I'm really confused as to what is going on here and am thinking that I've missed some major piece of the puzzle.  It's incredibly frustrating and so I am hoping someone can enlighten me as to what is going on and how to fix it.
    Many thanks,
    Shane

    Hi,
You should indeed set the printing defaults from teh advanced tab/printing defaults.
These settings should be replicated when the user installs the printer (so if they change the setting locally it persists and if you change a setting on the printserver it is not replicated to clients). A common way to get around this is reconnecting the
printers by logonscript. thisof course result in end-users lossign custom configurations when the logon script runs.
As you know, these drivers conain many vendor specific settings and items. Unfortunately not all drivers work very well. I would advice to read through the documentation of the vendor. I know HP has good docs on how to maintain printers in larger environments
and even distributes some custom tools to configure printer specifics and enforce settings.
If you configure default drawers, keep in mind the papertypes and sizes and how the printer handles papertype mismatched (like letter/A4),as well as default configuration of office software and used templates. In the end it is the printer which decides what
drawer to print from. You might as well need to configure the drawers on the printer itself. Most network printers have a webinterface to allow advanced configurations.

  • Lr4 print template not saving 'Print Settings'

First of all ... I'm coming from Lr3 running in Windows XP to Lr4 on a Mac, and I'm still getting used to the way Mac OS does things, so bear with me ...
Since using Lr4 on my Mac, today is the first time coming back to a particular art paper.  If I remember correctly, with Lr3 (Windows) the print settings "Page Setup" and "Print Settings" were combined into a single dialog of parameters.  In any case, a defined Lr3 print template remembered everything (e.g., paper size, paper type, print quality, etc).  However, I am finding Lr4 (Mac) only remembers the 'Page Setup' settings and that I will always need check and usually modify the 'Print Settings'.  Is this a functional difference between Windows and Mac OS, or am I missing something?  Or, did something go awry when I upgraded to Lr 4.1 RC??

  • Color settings grayed out in Print Settings

    Photoshop CS5 v12.1.
    Mac OS 10.6.
I'm printing to an Epson R1800 printer.
Print. Choose Color Management. Choose Document. Choose "Photoshop manages color". Choose the correct printer profile that matches the paper I'm using. Choose Relative Colorimetric.
THEN, I click Print Settings...under the 4th drop downu I choose "Print setting..." again. Under "Basic" "color" and "Color settings" are grayed out as are some of the "Media Type" options.
Is this normal? The problem is my black and white prints are printing really badly. They have color tones. I've cleaned the nozzles on my Epson printer, done everything the print utility suggests. All the test prints look fine.
I'm at a loss. Am I missing something obvious?

I see you haven't gotten much input so far from the Mac experts...
As a Windows user without an Epson printer myself, I can't comment on why you might have color problems under the covers where the software doesn't seem to be following the chosen settings.  However, perhaps I can get you thinking about how to further diagnose the problem...
The obvious thing I see is that you've chosen "Photoshop Manages Colors" in the main dialog, which implies your intent is to shut off color-management in the printer driver itself.  So to me the graying out of those settings in this case seems to make sense.
Have you tried a test print using the "Printer Manages Colors" setting?
Also, to try to test whether color-management isn't being turned off in the printer (regardless of what the grayed-out settings show), do you see any improvement if you use "Photoshop Manages Colors" but choose a standard profile, such as sRGB IEC61966-2.1 for the Printer Profile setting?
