  • Acrobat 7.0 Pro error message in Vista Ultimate..missing printer driver

I use to have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional installed on my other computer with had XP Pro as its operating system. I could convert any Word 2003 document into a PDF and e-mail it without any problems. I just purchased a new computer with Vista Ultimate 64 bit and every time I try to convert a Word document into a PDF I get an error message that says it can't find the printer driver and to please re-install Acrobat. I did what it said and I keep getting the same error message. I even installed the newest Adobe Reader like it said. I know my printer driver works. Does anyone have a solution? It seems all the money you spend on Adobe products their support staff just wants to wash their hands and send you on some wild goose chase looking for answers on their un-user friendly site instead of answering the question or making any recommendations. If I have to update it so be it. They should have told me that. This is the last time I will fork over $600 on any of their products because their service stinks. I appreciate any help from anyone who has experienced this same problem or who knows how to rectify it. God Bless, Tony

Hi Michael, Thank you so much for the reply. You would think Adobe Support could have told me that so I really appreciate it. Do you know what I need to do to upgrade it ? Can I find an upgrade on E-Bay or do I need to go to COMP USA or some other place to buy the upgrade? Last, what exactly am I looking for to upgrade it to the newest version. (Name of product). I will also remove the other program so it won't have any other issues once I get the upgrade. Thanks again and God Bless, Tony

  • Missing Printer Driver... Please Reinstall

So I got this error the other day.. that the Acrobat printer driver was missing and that I shou
ld re-install Acrobat Pro 9.  That was an adventure.  After several days of trying to reinstall just Acrobat from my CS4 installation files, I finally removed all of CS4 ran the Adobe cleanup scripts, etc.  Re-installed CS4, got my updates, etc... and I get the same message whenever I try to create a PDF: PDFMaker cannot locate the Adobe PDF Printer's printer driver.  Please re-install Adobe Acrobat 9.1
    Clues, hints, suggestions?
    TIA

ORBMike, I was on phone support the other day for 3 hours to fix this problem. They do not know why this is occuring. They did get my software working but it is still not in perfect working order. They had me download acrobat X. With their help we copied the drivers from X to 9. It was somewhat technical so I suggest calling adobe phone support. They were Great!!

  • Missing print driver when adding rendezvous printer

Hello all, hopefully you smart people can help me.
The new iMac (10.4.9) is glorious and printing on the new HP Photosmart D5069 via USB, no problems. I want to share the printer with two laptops (an iBook and Powerbook, both running 10.3.9). I enabled sharing.
When I go to add the printer on the laptops, under Rendezvous printing it sees the printer at the iMac (@ computer). I add it, but then I need the print driver.
So I stepped back and installed the HP software disc on the laptops to get the print driver on there. I installed it via USB. I can print from a laptop to the printer via USB.
However, when I return the printer to its USB connection on the iMac, and then proceed to add the shared printer via Rendezvous on the laptops, I still can't find the printer driver. Under Printer Model/HP there is no Photosmart D5xxx model. Using the generic print driver leads to no printing via Rendezvous (it shows up in the queue on the iMac, but no printing occurs).
So how do I add the correct print driver? It must be on my hard drive, since I can USB print, but I can't reveal its presence to Rendezvous.
As an added note, I thought Rendezvous was supposed to make it EASY. If you have to add the print driver manually, I'm not sure how that helps using Rendezvous.
    Thanks

Repair permissions (Disk Utility) after any HP driver install. Then restart the computer and try Adding the printer.
For troubleshooting, try using the HP Photosmart P1100 Gimp-Print driver included in OS X. If you don't see that either, you may need to update your laptops with Gutenprint, the new name for Gimp-Print drivers:

  • Missing Printer Driver

    Hello,
I just got my new MacBook yesterday. I'm very pleased with it so far. I went to hook up the printer, an HP Color Laserjet 1600, and the MacBook couldn't find the drivers. I went to the HP support site and they didn't list a driver for Mac, just MS. I sent an email to HP. I might get a response this year. Any idea where I can find the missing drivers?
    Thanks
    MacBook Mack

Yes I drank the Kool-Aid. I was a PC user, the printer worked fine for Windows. The guy at the Apple store said the MacBook had all the drivers you'll need to set up your printer. I didn't think to check HP's web site first. I'm thinking there must be a work around. OK, I'm praying there is.

  • L7590 All in One "download print driver file" WARNING!!

If you are considering downloading print drivers for your L7590 series, be forewarned:
This is my experience.  After experiencing fax problems (the fax would feed all the pages, but cancel itself after attempting to send page 1.  I finally thought it might be a missing print driver and went to the HP site to download any possible updates.
The download actually wiped out my existing files or more accurately, hid them somewhere deep in registry files.
Had massive problems, because now my printer is completely non-functional except for the copy function.
I endured a horrible, strong-accent, broken English-speaking tech in probably an India Call Center.  He was insistent on helping me but it took 4 attempts to even get his name spelled!
Long & Short - had to pay $24.99 (even tho the site said it was $20; a whole other issue on this) and finally got connected to a Southern US Call Center.  This tech was nice, but had to escalate my issue to her supervisor.  It took 3 days to get the problem resolved [my printer works better than before, so it was great overall], so I am now awaiting a response from HP CEO Ray Lane.  We'll see...

  • What is the Acrobat 7 Adobe PDF printer driver name?

I can no longer print to my "Adobe PDF" printer.
I have Acrobat 7.1.0 (as part of Creative Suite 2) on my small travel laptop system running Windows XP Professional, SP3.
Recently, if I try to print to a PDF file from Firefox, I get:
"an unexpected error has occurred" or "an unknown error has occurred while printing".
I went to the Adobe PDF printer itself and if I try to choose the properties, I get "The Adobe PDF Converter' is not installed on this computer. Then it asks me if I want to install the driver now.  If I say yes, it wants the driver name, which I don't know and don't see obvious candidates.   If I say no, and I see the properties for the PDF printer, it says the driver is "Adobe PDF Converter", but I guess the underlying driver file is missing.
I found a posting for how to manually reinstall the printer on Acrobat 10, but my directory structure is different and I don't have a file called pdf.inf, so I suspect the driver name is different in Acrobat 7.
I can still launch Acrobat 7 just fine, and have tried doing the repair from the help menu twice, and rebooted afterward.  No luck.
I didn't delete the Adobe PDF printer before the repair.  I was afraid to.
I could go back to the original CS2 disks, but then I'll lose all the updates I've downloaded and installed over the years.  I don't know if Adobe even has the updates for CS2 online anymore.
I suspect if I knew the name of the PDF printer driver in Acrobat 7, I may be able to fix it. Even if the file got deleted, I likely have it on an old backup.
Does anyone know the name of the ".inf" driver file for the Adobe PDF printer in Acrobat7 (CS2)?
If not, is there something else I can run from the setup files that will reinstall the PDF converter?
    Thanks.
    Cindy

I cannot confirm, but feel confident that Adobe has the updates available for CS2.
    Reinstall from the disks.
I just looked through my XP system running CS2; I cannot see an easy way to reinstall the Adobe PDF Printer, but it is already installed there.

  • Acrobat v9 Printer Driver

I'm not sure if I'm missing something basic, but I installed a volume license Acrobat v9 Standard install on a Server 2003 Terminal Server, but I don't see the Adobe PDF creator/printer driver when I do a File, Print....
I tried reinstalling, rebooting the server, playing with ports on existing printer drivers...any thoughts?
    TIA.

    Hi Mike,
I have exactly the same problem that you describe. At first I thought it might be malicious software that was installing a fake driver, but after running Malware, Spybot and some other programs, I'm still left with the problem. I have a lot of Adobe software installed (Adobe Premiere Elements 7, Adobe Acrobat Pro 8, Adobe Audition 3, Adobe PhotoShop 7 and of course Adobe Reader 9, plus as you indicate Adobe Air and Acrobat.com I'm not sure when my problem started, since I only recognized it when I went to do a system restore. It appears to install the driver about once a minute. This leaves me with about 3 days worth of useless restore points.
The only advice that I have received is to un-install all my Adobe stuff, then check the System Restore, then one by one re-install the packages checking each time what happens in the system restore.
Have you found any solution since your original post?

  • Acrobat print driver for double-sided option?

i pretty much feel like i am brain dead or something since moving back to mac OS when it comes to printing - and that is saying something considering i moved from windows.
in any event, despite the fact i have had a ton of help in trying to figure this out i still cannot figure out how to get an option to print double-sided on my HP officejet pro. every time i get in one of these to print to a second paper tray or to create black and white only prints or two to a page or whatever i feel like i am in some hall of mirrors created by mc escher. i /have/ gone in and set presets on the mac pro for 2 to a page through 16 to a page for black and white and for color prints and i have gone ahead and done the same for my laptop as well (sigh) - however something as simple as printing to a second tray for 11 x 17 or 12 x 18 paper on the epson (i move the trays /manually/ from to the first slot to get this to work) or printing 2 sided out of acrobat (i still can't figure this out) is mind bogglignglingling.
can anyone help me figure this out? i go rooting around around in here and then just flat out give up.
am i printing out of a mac user interface and i need to download an acrobat driver or something? someone helped me out on this earlier and i am trying to get it all finalized as best i can...
    THANKS

    hi eric. big thanks.
i am attaching the screenshot showing the two-sided HP option (in this case it is buried under "Driver").
i don't know but for the record - i am in 2014 and every email i get says "think of the environment before you print" and HP and Mac OS and Adobe can't get it together enough to let me /easily/ print to two sided paper???? am i missing something or is burying this setting in Settings > Select Your Printer > Driver a total wormhole and - well, why after checking this am i still at a loss to print to two sided paper out of Acrobat? i have an 104 page pdf document sitting here i can't print.
i mean, i think eric was kind enough to point this setting out to me before (and lord knows mother earth dearly hopes that the checkmark is the default setting...) but why with these three powerhouses am i still at a loss to get to two-sided out of acrobat?
at least Preview buries other things and leaves this one option staring me in the face each time i print...
    THANKS

  • Why does my Acrobat Pro 9 PDF print driver either lock up or become confused as to where it should store a file when printing a document from within the Firefox browser?

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 for creating .pdf files on a Windows XP SP3 platform. Firefox 6.0.2 is my browser of choice. This question only applies to the .pdf printing process. All other printer drivers work fine with this version of Firefox.
In attempt to save paper, I choose to print most documents in an electronic .pdf format using the PDF print driver and save them to my USB drive. Before upgrading my Firefox version to 6.0.2 this process seemed to work fine but after upgrading the .pdf print process seems to be experiencing problems. This particular printing process will cause Firefox to lock up when the distiller tries to print the file to what I believe is a temporary folder under the Adobe folder. When it does this I am sometimes able to force it to complete the process but frequently it will only produce a log not a .pdf file. On other occasions the distiller will just lock up mid print without producing any kind of error message. In both cases I will frequently have to use Windows Task Manager to break out of the process which then shuts down the Firefox browser. I don't seem to have any problems when I use Internet Explorer to perform the same function. As far as I am aware I am running the most current drivers as Adobe automatically pushes down updates to me as they become available. Any ideas how I can overcome this issue or is it inherent to the new version of Firefox?

The PDF file itself does not control the "print as image" preference, which should always be turned OFF unless there's a specific need to rasterize the entire page, and is turned off by default in all Acrobat and Adobe Reader installations.
What's the filetype for the ultralight font and what export setting* are you using in ID? If you're exporting to earlier than PDF1.7, OpenType fonts will be converted and may experience some small changes in shape if their hint definitions aren't done right.
*As a side note, bear in mind that InDesign does not use any part of Acrobat when exporting PDFs, so questions specific to that stage in the process should be posted to the InDesign forums.

  • Acrobat 6.0 and Windows 7 - is there a PDF printer driver available?

    Hi,
I have been using Acrobat 6.0 with Windows XP fine. However, I just got a new computer that has Windows 7.
I installed Acrobat 6.0 but cannot now convert any documents to PDF on this new computer. I get this error--
"The PDF maker cannot find the Adobe PDF printer driver and to reinstall Adobe Acrobat 6.0"
However, reinstalling Acrobat 6.0 does not help, nor does the repair feature.
Is There a patch for this product? Can I download a driver for the PDF printer so that it is compatible with Windows 7?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have Acrobat 6 as well and just upgraded to windows 7. Can't afford Acrobat Version 9 either. From what I understand, only Windows 7 PROFESSIONAL, ULTIMATE or ENTERPRISE editions can you run most Windows XP productivity programs in Windows XP Mode(separate download). At least that's what I read here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/windows-xp-modeI wonder if that will help you. I unfortunately only have STARTER edition.
*The following text is copied and pasted from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/windows-xp-mode
Windows 7 Feature has a Windows XP Mode
It's the best of both worlds: The new Windows XP Mode lets you run older Windows XP business software right on your Windows 7 desktop.
Designed primarily with small- and medium-sized businesses in mind, Windows XP Mode comes as a separate download and works only with Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise. Windows XPMode also requires virtualization software such as WindowsVirtual PC. Both are available free on the Microsoft website.
To download Windows XP Mode or learn about its system requirements, visit the Windows Virtual PCwebsite.
Windows XP Mode, available for the Professional and Ultimate editions of Windows 7, helps prevent older business programs from becoming obsolete.

The following error message appears when I try to create a PDF in Publisher:

This is the forum for Adobe Reader (not Acrobat). If you have Reader, you won't have that driver. If you have Acrobat, you'll want to ask in that forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat

  • Disabling "Save as..." popup in Acrobat Distiller printer driver

    Hi!
We are using an application which is automatically generating a pdf file using the Acrobat Distiller printer driver, but recently one workstation start poping up a Save as... window each time a file is generated (it is very annoying since this application is generating a lot of different reports).
How we could avoid having to confirm each time the name of the file? Registry setting?
    Thanks.

    Already did that.
If I remember correctly it was something in the registry... still searching.

  • Acrobat 8 pdf printer driver

Running in Windows XP and try to publish to pdf from Word.  Get error message "can not located pdf printer's printer driver".  Need help

Assuming you have AA8 installed, you should have the Adobe PDF printer present as an active printer on you machine. If not, then open Acrobat, go to the help menu, and select repair. If you can not do that, then go to the Control Panel>Add/Remove programs and activate the repair there. You might also check for updates, you did not indicate the version of AA8 you are talking about.
