Missing printer port

Ever since having to reinstall my OS because of a hardware upgrade screwing up my startup files, I am unable to install my printer port (LPT1) successfully.  Device manager simply doesn't detect it.  When I install it manually, it works, and the wizard tells me the drivers were successfully installed, and I must restart.  After I restart, the device mgr. shows an ! beside the printer port, and the properties box tells me that the device is either not present, or the drivers are not installed correctly.  Upon reinstalling the drivers, nothing changes, and WindowsME does not detect the port.  And when I try to install my printer, there is no LPT1 detected to install it to.  I have spent hours using different drivers, repairing registry, and trying to get this thing to work, with no success.  I would be grateful for any suggestions.

man, you really are the forum god.  i must be an idiot.  it worked! thanks!

  • Adobe printer port is missing!

I downloaded and installed Adobe reader 9 on my computer at work yesterday. When I tried to print, it said the printer was missing. So I found directions on how to manually install the pdf printer, but when I looked in the drop down menu for the pdf printer port, it wasn't there. How on earth do I install the pdf printer port?

There is not pdf printer port. The PDF printer port is part of Acrobat not Reader. If you are having trouble with your printer port, you might try removing your printer driver and re-installing it.

  • K8D Master, NO Printer PORT?

Yeah it's there....I have not missed it

  • My missing printer.

My office recently upgraded one of our machines from a G4 PowerPC to an iMac G5. Unfortunately classic has a slight problem. The only app we still use in classic is Pagemaker 6.5. Even after several times un-installing, and re-installing pagemaker whenever I try to print using a PPD the drop down menu where the printers should be is just not there. Sadly, printing postscripts to file is a rather necessary component of the work we do... If anyone knows where my drop down menu has gone it would be greatly appreciated.
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4)   Missing Printer Drop Down

    Hi, Cmdrlimpet -
...I have the proper printer descriptions and they are in the extensions folder....
The PPDs belong in the Printer Descriptions folder in the Extensions folder, not 'loose' in the Extensions folder. There are some printer-specific files in the Extensions folder, but those are Chooser Extensions (i.e., drivers), not PPDs.
    The way it should work...
After the PPD is placed in the Printer Descriptions folder, start up Classic (or restart if the machine is running OS 9). Go to Chooser in the Apple menu; select LaserWriter 8 as the driver on the left. Available printers should appear on the right. Click one, and the Setup or Create button should become usable. After clicking that and following through the short setup screens, the printer should be usable.
If you then go here - System Folder >> Preferences >> Printing Prefs >> Parsed PPD Folder, you'll find what appears to be a copy of the printer's PPD. Placing a PPD in that folder manually does not work (at least it never has for me) - it needs to be placed there by Chooser.
If your printers need AppleTalk, then it should be on; otherwise it should be off, since it can otherwise interfere with the ability to access a printer or other item on ethernet. Sometimes it refuses to let go of the bus even when it is turned off - in that event, switching AppleTalk to use a different port/bus usually works. That setting can be made in the AppleTalk control panel.
By chance do you have ATM Light and Suitcase installed in Classic?

  • Error message on install no printer port could be assigned

I have installed Acrobat 7.0 professional on my new windows 7.0 laptop. On install an error msg says "No rinter port could be assigned." I have tried a couple times and no luck. Any way to assign a pdf printer port manually?
    thanks

To my knowledge, no one has gotten AA 7 to work on Win 7. A few have succeeded with AA8. AA9 is the minimum certified to work on Win 7. You will likely have to upgrade for Win 7.

  • Hp LaserJet P3015 randomly miss prints random letters.

    Hi
I wonk as a It technician in a College environment. We have a computer lab with 40 Dell OptiPlex 390's connected via a local area network to a Hp Laser Jet P3015. The students have to use a water mark during exams as a way to identify on witch computers they  wrote the exam. Now on random occasions Radom alphabetical characters are being miss printed for example all the "I's" or "T's" in the document won't simply print. To get the machine to print correctly I have to reboot the pc and printer and this can cause a lot of trouble during the exams. I have tried using different drivers (UPD PCL 6 and UPD PLC 5) but the miss prints still occur. Microsoft office 2010 and 2007 was running parallel on the computers, but I uninstalled 2010 due to the fact that our text books for 2010 will only be available next year. Please can anybody assist me.

The majority of the tools in the PCL Paraphernalia application generate print jobs; the Target menu allows the  user to select the target (network-connected) printer, or to direct the output instead to a file.
However, four of the tools do not interact directly with a printer, and the Target menu is irrelevant for these tools; the PRN File Analyse tool is one of these, and with this tool, the file to be analysed is selected via the Open Print File ... button in the dialogue of that tool.
The Downloads page of the website provides a link to a Windows .chm Help file, which describes the application and each tool.
The TrueType Courier New display font is usually mapped to an equivalent printer-resident scalable Courier font on most LaserJet (and clone) printers - I don't have access to a LaserJet P3015, so I don't know for sure which printer-resident fonts are available - you could find out by printing out a PCL Typeface (Font) List from the printer.
    Your captured mytest.prn file:
Shows that a font selection sequence for the printer-resident Courier font is present, but also downloads 11 different PCL soft fonts - 10 of these are in resolution-specified bitmap font format, the other one is in PCL Encapsulated TrueType (PCLETTO) format - without a lot of additional checking, I don't know which font is used for which bits of text in your print document.
Prints (2 pages), without any apparent problem, on my local LaserJet 1320n printer - there do not appear to be any missing characters, so either you have captured a sample which does not exhibit the fault, or the problem is within your own printer, not the driver-generated print stream.
I can't post the analysis output here, as this (Consumer) forum does not provide file upload facilities; the equivalent Business forum (see http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-and-Digital-Imaging/ct-p/bsc-412 ), which is probably more relevant to your printer model and configuration, does provide this feature.

  • How Do I Redirect LPT1 Printer Port to 'LOCAL Printer' in Windows 7

I have previously redirected LPT1 Port to a 'Network Printer' as well as 'Print Server' with NO PROBLEMS.
However, I have NOT been able to redirect LPT1 Port to a 'LOCAL' PRINTER. I have already set up:
     - new HP Laser Printer (tested, no problem printing in Windows)
     - the printer is SHARED, shared name is "HPLaser" (tested by viewing Shared Printer Name and Computer Name in DOS)
     - bat file as --> Net
    use Lpt1 \\DkTop1\HPLaser /persistent:yes
(I checked to ensure the 'Computer
    Name' and the 'Shared
Printer Name' are correct. Tested by running bat command, no
    error message)
When printing in DOS and viewing "What's Printing" from Printer Icon,
     - the DOS print job appears immediately as "spooling",
     - then "printing" and "USB001" Port.
So, it appears to be printing from the DOS application, also
note NO ERRORS from DOS Program or Windows but it does NOT print.
The only difference between the 'Local Printer' setup and
the 'Print Server Printer' setup is,
     the 'PRINT SERVER'
goes to an "IP Address w/Standard TCP/IP Port"
    and the 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    goes to "USB001 Virtual Printer for . . .".
    IS THERE A PROBLEM in
    SETTING UP THE 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    with 'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port???
If so, how do I resolve? If not, please note what is the problem(s) and resolution(s). Thanks.

    Hi,
you install the new printer, which port you choose to use? What do you mean by saying "'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port"
    here?
As the printer is configured locally, there is no need to redirect the port to it.
    Install a printer
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/install-printer#install-printer=windows-7
    Here for more information:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows-vista/add-or-remove-a-printer
If possible please take a try to delete the printers holding the Lpt1 port, then reconfigure the local printer following the instructions provided above.
    Hope this may help
    Best regards
    Michael

  • TCP/IP Printer ports - HELP PLEASE

I have a large inkjet printer that I print my graphic design to... for years it has been set up and printing just fine through an Actiontec M1424-WR-rev.D router. No setting were ever changed in the router, it just worked great right out of the box (the Verizon guys installed it). I had a small router with the cable company, but when I got the new router from Verozon the install guy said i didn't need it any more, and moved the ethernet plugs over to the new router. Everything worked fine for years... until the wireless functions started to fail (I don't use the wireless for the office, just the family), so, Verizon told me I had to replace it with a new M1242WR - rev. I router. I transfered all the cables over the the new router in exactly the same positions the were in on the old router. Now my printing software (RIP software) can't see the printer when it's routed through the FiOS router, but If I move the ethernet cable from the router and plug it into the back of my computer, which disconnects my computer from the network and gives me a dedicated ethernet connection to the printer... everything works fine. It's just when I try and run it through the router that my computer and printer can't talk to each other.
My RIP software that drives the printer demands a STATIC IP address set up in a TCP/IP printing port, and the printer is set up with the corresponding static IP address (this is unavoidable). Images of the setup screens below...
The RIP software setup is here... very simple:
Now, on the actual printer, the IP address matches (192.168.0.110), the subnet masks are 255.255.255.0, and the default gateway is set at 192-168.0.1.
This is all the info I have, and all I know is that it worked fine with no setup on the old router, and does NOT work on the new router... it used to be plug-n-play, now it's plug-n-stop.
Again, when the ethernet cable run directly from the computer it drives the printer just fine, connected to the router first and it failes completely.... HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Like I said... this has worked great for years, I haven't changed a thing on the printer or computer... the only change is the new router... I'm out of production until I figure this out (
    Cabe...

The revision I router out of the box uses the following default IP addresses
    192.168.1.x IP Address
    255.255.255.0 Subnet
    192.168.1.1 Default gateway
I notice you aren't using that IP Address scheme at all in the screen shots.  Did you change the Verizon router internal settings to use the 0.1 ip scheme?

  • Acrobat 7.0 Printer port problem with windows 7.0?

I installed adbobe acrobat 7.0 standard on my new computer (windows 7.0), and I get this message: "warning 20225 adobe 7.0 ws unanle to setup adobe printer port." Does acrobat 7.0 work with windows 7.0?

If you are able to open Acrobat and Distiller, then you may be able to create a work-around. If the Adobe PDF printer was created, but not the port, then change the port to a "print-to-file" setting. Then open Distiller and setup a watched folder that you would print the file to. When you print the file, you may have to set the file extension to PS rather than the default PRN. The file would be a PS file and the extension is only to help the watched folder setup. Then try to print to the Adobe PDF printer and see if the watched folder will do the job. I am not sure and have not tried it on Win7 (I have AA9) but it is an option to try. If it does not work, then it is time to upgrade -- may be a good idea anyway.

How can I tell what version of Oracle report server did I installed. Is there a command I can run to give me feedback what version of oracle report server.
I went to the following url:

and it redirects to a login page.
But when I tried to login using the id:orcladmin it tells me the password for the id has expired. So I login into the userid ORASSO.
    And ran the following command:
    execute WWSSO_OID_INTEGRATION.reset_passwd('ORCLADMIN',null,'mychau1');
Than I was able to login using the id:ORCLADMIN.

How can I tell what version of Oracle report server did I installed. Is there a command I can run to give me feedback what version of oracle report server.
I went to the following url:
    //xxx/reports/rwservlet/showJobs?server=rep_xxx_oracleas3
and it redirects to a login page.
But when I tried to login using the id:orcladmin it tells me the password for the id has expired. So I login into the userid ORASSO.
    And ran the following command:
    execute WWSSO_OID_INTEGRATION.reset_passwd('ORCLADMIN',null,'mychau1');
Than I was able to login using the id:ORCLADMIN.
Before I did this change of the orcladmin 's password.

Basically HOME AND OC4J_BI_FORMS ARE NOW BOTH ALIVE AND BEFORE THEY WERE NOT ALIVE.
I also did comparison of the original and new ias.properties and the opmn.xml file and it shows no change.
This means that since HOME and OC4J_BI_FORMS ARE NOW BOTH ALIVE AND because of that I cannot get into the login page.

When we make a phone call through a PABX machine, the PABX machine print the call's detail if it is connect to printer. Let us assume, the PABX machine is connected via the printer cable with a PC at it's printer port. Now, the data sending by the PABX machine is reaching to PC's printer port, I would like to collect those data and store in a file(of any format) using Developer 6i. Is that possible? If yes, then how? Do I need to use any ActiveX control? Or is there any other way?

    Dear Friends
I also need a solution to this problem. But it may require sequance / format of information being sent by weigh bridge to the COM port. Normally the W/b company has their own format of information. We might have to change the COMP port speed also .e.g 9600 BPS, 2400 BPS etc.

  • Version 10.1.3 misses printing some lines. Is anyone else having this problem?

Using Adobe Reader X version 10.1.3 it misses printing some lines but prints perfectly with version 8.1.2.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I always match the entire project to the footage so this problem doesn't happen.
I have an after effects project dynamically linked to the project.  I think that may be causing the problem somehow, although that is also a 1440 project.
Again, I had no problems before.  I've done 10+ projects for this client with the same settings and am only now having problems.
I never recommend shooting in 1440, but that is what they wanted for whatever reason.  Always 1920x1080p or 1280x720p.
