Missing project

I have successfully made several little movies with iMovie 6, eventually making a DVD. When I opened my current project in progress however, I got the message that the project was made with an earlier version and if I opened it the earlier version would no longer read it. Sounded OK, since I hadn't used an earlier version, but when I clicked OK, iMovie opened up with nothing in the project. Aaaarrrrrgh! Has anyone else dealt with this situation? Thank you for any ideas.
John

Hi John - find the project 'package' (has a star icon on it), open it with Control-Click, then click on 'Show Package Contents'. Once there, open the Media folder - anything inside? Also try playing the QT file found in the Share>DVD folder.
Any luck?
Have you looked in the project's Trash?
Where was the project stored? If on an external drive, it should be formatted Mac OS Extended, and not Fat32 or some other Windows format.

  • Missing Project in Aperture 3

I've had a project go completely missing and I'm stumped as to what happened or how to find it. I did all my work on the project and organized it, with 3 others, under a folder. I created a slideshow and I selected some images and posted them to my Mobile Me Gallery. I've done nothing else to the project, but now the entire project is missing, and the images aren't showing anywhere on Aperture.
The Mobile Me gallery online still includes images from my missing project.
    help?

Hi Tony, thanks for the welcome.
I've searched and I still have only the one library. The library is about 120GB so it would be hard to create without noticing.
Luckily I did find the project on my backup, so I didn't lose it completely. It was an accident that I discovered that it was missing at all. The photos were taken less than a month ago, and my backup was from mid-September. So my issue is trying to figure out how it could have disappeared at all, because I certainly don't want it to happen again.
With the size of my library it is going to be difficult to maintain multiple iterations of my Aperture library. My plan was to maintain two backups - one at home and one at work on external hard drives. But if I have to plan for multiple versions going back into time I will. Maybe a Time Machine backup at work will be the answer. I have been using SuperDuper backup and my laptop is 4 years old and not all that powerful.

  • Missing Projects in Aperture 2.1.4 after database rebuild?

Had issues when editing a recent import in Aperture 2.1.4. I looked for help and followed this: I repaired permissions on my HD, then rebooted. I still had the same behaviors when working on the images so I tried the Aperture "Consistancy check". It said it was running a "Vacuum of Database" and then reopened Aperture. I decided to "rebuild the database" and finished my editing on that Project. Before I did the rebuild I did a Time Machine back up to an external HD. After I did the rebuild I did a Vault update. (My Library is Managed.) Later when searching for some photos that I had imported last year from my iPhone, I discovered that several iphone projects were missing. I searched the Library with Keywords, dates, etc and the files do not show up. I looked in deleted files from my last Vault. The only iphone files were ones that I had deleted back in Sept 2012. I did a spotlight search on my harddrive but could not locate files by names.  I am talking about hundreds of photos in these projects. I know that I did some keywording and some have Instagram tag.  Also, when I open Aperture it says that 466 Projects have not been backed up to the Vault and 19 files. (There has been one Project with those 19 files imported since the last Vault update.) In Aperture it says that I have 465 Projects and 27,578 images. The size of the Library is 180.28GB. The last Vault update is 154.7 GB. I think that the missing projects were imported at times from Sept 2012 through Dec. 2012.
How do I see if they are in a previous Time Machine backup and restore only those missing projects to Aperture? Is there a way to check the contents of my lst Vault back up? (I also do not want to lose my two recent imported and editted projects.)
I did just look at the contents (Show Package Contents) of my Aperture Library in the Finder and I can see the Library Folder in the my organization where they reside in Aperture and the icons with the named missing projects. I know that I should not mess with the package, but does this indicate that they are still on my harddrive?  I also see some Albums that I remember making in the Dec 2012 Folder. They no longer show up in Aperture. It seems that somehow I ended up with an earlier version of my Aperture Library after my troubleshooting. I would love to get back to the earlier version of the Library and then add in the last two projects and edits that I added in Feb 2013. Those two projects, including the one that I was working on when all this began are still there, but I am at the very least missing many hundreds of photos of my family and travels that did reside in those Projects. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I need to upgrade to Aperture 3 asap, but need to solve this first.)

Anyone recovered from a similar issue?
Yes, I have inadvertently discovered I have the same problem with TIFFs I created by scanning in some very old photographs as TIFFs three years ago. I did extensive work on the old photos to restore their quality. Three years ago, everything seemed to work fine including printing the TIFFs. I just discovered Aperture 2.1.4 and Aperture 3 can't find the managed masters even though I verified they are in the libraries!
Like you I don't need to salvage the masters since I can drag them out of the library; I want to export the versions so I have my retouching work saved. At least I can see the final work in Aperture 2 but in Aperture 3, all is white or black previews with its managed masters not found.

  • Missing Projects in iMovie 09 after upgrading to Mavericks

    Using iMovie 09 (8.0.6)
Before Mavericks came out I moved (copied) my iMovie Projects and Events to an external hard drive (from within iMovie, not the OS).
Everything was where it should be and worked properly after I was done.
My first time back into iMovie since upgrading to Mavricks and now my projects are missing in iMovie. The projects are present on the external disk in the OS, but they don't show up under the external drive from within iMovie's Project Library window pane. The events are present on the external when viewed from either within iMovie or the OS.
I've found the solution to delete the UpdatedToiMovie10 file, but since I didn't upgrade iMovie, that's not an option for me.
    Anybody have any ideas?

I do suspect there must be some incompatibility between Mavericks and iMovie v. 8 because all was working in your previous operating system (was that ML, Lion  or Snow leopard?) and the OS upgrade should not have touched your Projects folder (it is still at the root level of your external drive isn't it?.
Did you get iMovie 10 when you upgraded to Mavericks?  (I suspect not because you would have needed to have iLife '11 and then you would have had iMovie 9).  I am wondering whether iMovie 10 would be able to see and update your missing projects.  Trouble is that would be a $15 (I think)  gamble which may not pay off.
(Actually iMovie 9.0.9 doesn't launch at all under Mavericks on both of my Macs for reasons I still don't understand - for most people it works OK) but I was able to update projects to iMovie 10 and have now moved on to FCP 10.1.

  • Please Help, Missing Project File and Discussion Advice Isn't Working.

    Here's the rundown:
I was working in iMovie HD 5 when the power got cut out on my external hard drive. When I try to reload my project I got the 'Missing Project File' error that has been discussed by many on this board.
    There are two known fixes.
    1) Open the package and go back to the '~' version of the project.
    2) Use the MovieTimeline.mov in the Cache to import it back into a new project.
    Solution #1 simply didn't work.
Solution #2 imports the full video as a single long clip but is significantly lower in quality than the original version.
In addition, the movie was shot in true widescreen and plays in quicktime in 16:9 mode, but when I import that .mov file into iMovie HD for some reason bars are added on the sides and top and bottom of the frame, and the bars are thicker on the sides so it stretches the picture and makes everything look taller.
Although I'd certainly much rather have my original project timeline back, I could still continue my work if I could figure out how to import the .mov so that it retains the quality and size that it had to begin with.
Does anyone have any idea how to import it without losing the quality and size or how to gain back an earlier project save?
Please help if you can, my grandfather's 83rd birthday gala celebration (2 days away!) depends on it!

I know you're in a rush, so I'll mention a couple other possibilities.
Solution #2 imports the full video as a single long
clip but is significantly lower in quality than the
    original version.
    • You shouldn't see any difference. The video imported from the Timeline Movie.mov is exactly the same as the original video. My guess is you're seeing some side effect of the widescreen issue. That, or your iMovie playback settings have changed.
In addition, the movie was shot in true widescreen
and plays in quicktime in 16:9 mode, but when I
import that .mov file into iMovie HD for some reason
bars are added on the sides and top and bottom of the
frame, and the bars are thicker on the sides so it
stretches the picture and makes everything look
    taller.
    • Make sure you're importing to a DV Widescreen project.
    • It might work to open the Timeline Movie.mov in QT Player Pro and export to a DV stream set to 16:9, then import that to the new project.
    • It's curious solution #1 didn't work. What happened when you tried that?

  • Project/Event update for 10.1.1. = missing projects

I just updated to 10.1.1. When I started FCPX I selected to allow automatic update. During the process it stated there was an error and to check my Libraries and Events were improted correctly. My Libraries all seem to have imported OK, but my Projects are missing. The files seem to still be under Movies/Finat Cut Projects, so I tried to do a manual import. When I selected to import manually, the Fina Cut Project folder under Movies is greyed out.
How do I get my projects back in to FCPX 10.1.1?

I had this same problem. Fiddling fixed it, so here's how I fiddled & fixed:
Saw in FCPX 10.1.1 the "Updated Projects" item in the Events list (or where I always saw events before. But no projects appeared in the Timeline. "Where da hail did dey go?" I said to myself. Blood pressure rose like 100 points. I read through every online entry I could find. Nothing. Rebooted, ran permissions repair; still nothing. ARRRGH.
In desperation, I double-clicked "Updated Projects" – because working the twisty triangle didn't do anything.
Suddenly, something begain to happen. There was a progress bar.  Does this mean actual progress??
It did! *Voila!* The missing projects appeared in a list. Clicking on the one I wanted opened it in the Project timeline. BOOM.  Fixed.
Hey, Apple! You might have TOLD us in some really PLAIN way that this was the way to open projects now. Just sayin'. I mean, the amount of hate-posts on forums the world over that have been generated around this one problem is incredible, and it could have been prevented with some simple "Here... do this instead" directions.

  • Missing project templates and quiet MIDI keyboard?

Shouldn't I have a "Loops", "Voice" and "Podcast" templates when creating a new GarageBand project? Screenshots I've seen online indicate that I should, but I don't have them...
Additionally: why is playing using the Korg Nanokey results in sounds that are WAY quieter compared to using the exact same instruments being played with the virtual keyboard built into GarageBand?

Are you really using GarageBand '11, as your profile signature indicates, or have you upgraded to GarageBand 10.0?
This is what you should be seeing in GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5:
GarageBand 10.0 will  show different types of projects:
If your version is really GarageBand '11 and templates are missing, check, what is installed in your system library:
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Templates/Projects/
Maybe, there are templates missing from the "Templates" folder. Then try, if reinstalling will fix this. Do you have an iLife GarageBand installation DVD?

  • Mysterious missing project.

This never happened in 5 years of using FCP7 and I am sure I have done nothing wrong. I opened a library from Sept 2014 and went to an event to open a project which I know I edited because I exported t to disc as a Pro Res file. Anyway the project has completely vanished into thin air. All the other projects in that library are all intact. Is there anyway of searching for a "lost" or has anyone got any idea where it could have gone project?
Thanks for any advice or theories?

The mystery now deepens. I have a new library with 10 or so events, each one represents a Part1 and a Part 2 of a show. I have just looked at a show (Pt 1 &2 events) and found the project blank for Part 1 and no clips showing and Part 2 project is perfect with all the clips in the project, BUT NO CLIPS showing  in the box underneath, but they all exist in the time line. All the other events in the library are perfect. I just edited the missing one 2 days ago. Luckily I always export the master immediately after I have edited it. I cannot see what I am doing wrong, since surely the problem would repeat itself, but it seems so random.

  • Missing "Project Fields" webpart mystery

This has to be the oddest thing I've ever encountered in years of Sharepoint administration, though I have less experience with Project Server administration.  Here goes.
We've upgraded from Project Server 2010 to Project Server 2013 and have started UAT.  Other than an issue with the BI Center upgrade which was resolved, the upgrade test reported no errors.  The problem is with our Project Detail Pages.
Any project detail pages that were using the "Project Fields" webpart are giving an error after the upgrade.  In the logs I found:
    - "System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Library, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies"
    -  "Microsoft.Office.Project.PWA.WebParts.ProjectFieldPart, Error: File Not Found"
So first it appears these pages were not upgraded to use the new PWA library.  I wasn't able to find a way to properly upgrade the pages.  So, I began rebuilding them.
I built one new page in the Project Detail Pages library using the "Project Fields" webpart successfully.  When I went to build a second page, the webpart is completely gone (the "Project Fields (Backwards Compatible)" webpart remains
but it is not the same):
Back in Project Server 2010, here's the webpart:
Thinking this is an issue with the upgraded PWA, I went to our other test 2013 PWA (that is native 2013 with no content and wasn't an upgrade from 2010), and the webpart is missing there too!
Then, I rebooted the farm because I was at a loss.  The webpart is still missing.  I was able to use it an hour ago, and the page I built with it still displays it, but I can't add it to any new pages (and tried Export and Upload with no success),
and I'm stumped.  Has anyone experienced anything like this before?  Thank you for your insight.

Find the web part referenced in the database and delete the reference.

  • Missing Project box thumbnails but weird

Under Library: Projects I have folders. One of them contains all my personal work. It is mostly folders for subjects like dogs, flowers, people, travel, etc. In each of those are either more folders or typically Project “boxes”. Like one for dogs and one for puppies in the Dog folder.
Recently, I went to Americana folder and saw that my Flags Project box (along with a few others) were missing most of the images. The little grey number showing images in each project was showing the right number. But only 5 or so actual images are visible in the Flags project “box”.
Interestingly, they show up when I select the Americana folder (but not the Project box they were in)!
I did each of the option + command Aperture library rebuilds, permissions, basic fix, and then total rebuild. Twice. Interestingly, another Project box “Farms” did bring back all the missing stuff after the final full database reconstruct.
But not the flags I need to properly organize and edit (or who knows what else out of thousands of images).
What can I do to restore the proper organization here?

Never mind. Unbelievably, the FILTER was still on for just that folder! But I had not been in the Flags Project box in YEARS!
So, does that mean that, filters are retained for specific Project boxes? Apparently, that is so as I just looked at other folders. But, inexplicably, while the check box (star rating) was checked, unlike with the Flags, it seemed to have no affect on those others.
So the filter option is clearly unclear on functionality.
That’s just bad UI and UX.

  • How do I replace Missing project Media?

I decided to take my FCE HDD with me when visiting my brother to start editing some video there. To make a long story short, when I got home, I realized that I had the project files, but had forgot to get the actual media.
Now, I can Log and Transfer the media back to my computer. However, FCE doesn't appear to realize that it is the same media, and won't let me reconnect it that way. Since the media has several edits, I don't want to re-do all of that. Is there a way to force it to apply the edits to the new files, since they are actually the same? Or do I need to find a way of getting the old media back?

    You have three options:
    1. If you have the camera you can use Log and Transfer (if it was an AVCHD camera) or Capture (if a tape based camera) to bring all of your old footage back. This will not help at all really, because then you would have to do the whole project again.
    2. If the camera was tape based and you have it with you, you can do Capture Project in the Capture window to recapture any footage missing. This should save most of the stuff.
    3. You could reconnect the media using the Reconnect Media function if you get the original media.
All of these options require you have the camcorder with the original media or the media on a scratch disk to use. Without media to capture/reconnect, I'm afraid you are out of luck.

  • Missing Project Folders

Help! I have almost completed my project. I was in the
process of view the results of my compile to WebHelp. Since my
project was open, I was doing some minor corrections using the
WYSIWYG editor. I noticed some of folders that should be under the
Project tab are missing and under the Topics tab. I can see my
topics in the TOC view. What can I do?

    Hi xbet
First off, don't panic. I'd simply proceed with generating
WebHelp and see if things seem fine. If so, close RoboHelp and
begin picking things apart. The issue could be as simple as Windows
memory being fragged out and causing things to misbehave. So I'd
restart the PC, then begin seeing if things normalize.
Give that a shot and report back with what you are seeing.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Missing Project Contents

Back in December '08, I worked on an iMovie project. I needed to go in and make some changes, so I reopened the file today, and everything was there. I then closed iMovie, went and had dinner, and then came back later, opened the iMovie file, and there was nothing there. I did not save over the old project. The iMovie file opens, there is just nothing in it. Nothing on the timeline. I "viewed package contents" - nothing.
Any ideas? What am I missing?
    Thanks!

    Hi
Only thing that comes to my mind is fouls-play. Can it been so that anyone visit
Your Mac during dinner and started a new iMovie project then saving it and left.
Hopefully Your movie wasn't named "My fantastic movie" or whatever iMovie has as default
    in English versions.
There are programs that tries to find trashed materials. Expencive eg "Data Rescue II"
Else I would look in the trash basket to see what's in this and retrieve it.
But there is no easy way to guess what's happened.

  • Mac Os X LION - Premiere CS 5.5 Missing Project Presets

    Hey
Even after uninstalling and using the creative cleaning suite tool and reinstalling premiere cs 5.5, most of the new presets such as DSLR, HDV and AVC presets are missing. I also deleted the preferences file from the hidden library folder (new finder window/go to folder:  ~/library) and re-started but no luck. Is this a MAc Lion specific problem you think ? Is there anyone who has encountered and knows how to solve this or maybe download presets files on adobe.com  ?
    Thank you

I'm glad to hear that it's possible for someone to run on Lion OSX and CS5.5 with all the presets. There is hope
Firstly, I installed the demo version of CS5.5.
I did not see all the presets and Premiere CS5.5 did not open my projects in CS4 because there was not the ".mpeg" presets/codecs.
I read this article where it says that there are no limitations on the demo CS5.5:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407938.html
I uninstalled the demo and buy the full version. But it did not work.
But even with all this, now I have the full version and I still do not see the presets.
I do not know anything about codecs and presets but after uninstalling and using the creative suite cleaning tool most of the new presets are missing..
