Missing purchases between iphone 3 and iphone5

Hi there
Recently upgraded iphone 3 to iphone5. There is a purchase on my iphone 3 (music from itunes) which has not come across. Everything else came across.
When i go to redownload purchases it does not appear in the list in itunes. The only place it appears is on the actual old iphone 3.
I thought it was because I had changed my apple ID awhile back but logged into that old account and the purchase has not appeared there either. Can anyone help.

The difference you will see between the iphone 3G/3G S and the iPhone 4 is quite noticable. Especially the design. AS for the iphone 3G,there is no recently used apps bar (multi-tasking), you can't have a background wallpaper on the homescreen. As for the 3G S, you have both of these features. However, the iphone 4 has the Retina display, which the previous models do not. The iphone 4 has facetime (video calling), which the previous model does not.
The iphone 4 can do HD video recording, has 5.0 MP with flash. I believe the 3G does 2.0? and the 3G S has 3.0 MP to it. No flash on previous models.
Really, you can just go to the iphone section and i'm sure you can compare between the iphone 4 and the 3G S. In US, they do still sell the 3G S model but in 8 GB of storage, each country could be different where they could still sell the 16 GB model or the 32 GB, but very unlikely, unless they have few in stock. iphone 4 comes with either 16 GB or a 32 GB.
As for the pricing, the contract phone in U.S is 199/299, with a no-contract, it will cost 599/699.

i called apple and they are sending me snow leopard so i should, *fingers crossed, be able to run the newer version of itunes. we'll find out for sure in a few days when it arrives

Just a thought, but maybe consider returning the device. Seems it might be a bit too complicated for you.

i bought an iphone 4 9months ago and the software was upgraded to iOS5 last month. since then i noticed that by the time i used to connect my iphone into my pc the itunes did not sync so i'd just tolerate as not a big deal for me... this is the problem that i have. yesterday evening, my iphone 4 was connected to my pc at the same downloading viber again from itunes at the moment i wanted to disconnect my iphone its dead! shut it off. i kept on switching evry10sec but there was no power. i knew there's enough battery as it connected in my pc. well, i gave up and leave it but 36hrs after when i'd tried again to switch on i saw on the lcd battery icon is red So i've charged immediately. now fine! i just want to share with you this experience... why its like this. So, my DNS is comming from my ISP. It's the same list of IP addresses for all our other devices that are working: 2 PC's 2 Laptops, a PS3 and a WII, an iPhone 3gs running IOS 5.0 and an iPhone 4 running IOS 5.0.
The ONLY two devices that are having issues are my iPhone 3gs running IOS 5.0.1 and my iPad 2 running IOS 5.0.1.

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!

Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS. Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud. There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.

Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage, tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream. If using Photo stream, but sure to move the received photos to a permanent album. If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
Or, you can find other apps in the app store that send camera roll photos to a service like Dropbox.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered. I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".

Take it to the Apple Store where you purchased it from. It is still under warranty. They will replace it if necessary.

You would have to essentially start again.
Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Contents And Settings
This will take the handset right back to the original setup, where you will find an option to Restore From iCloud Backup.

If you're using an Intel Mac, phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD.

I purchased an iPhone 3 and had taken some photos on it. I started having issues within 30 days and could replace it. So I created an iCloud account and saved those photos as a back up on iCloud. I did not restore my new phone from back up because I did not realize I needed to restore and not just activitate it. How can I save the new photos, apps, and other stuff but retrieve the old photos?

If all you want is your old photos, you could backup your new phone using iTunes, then restore it from your iCloud backup, import the old photos to your computer, then restore it from the backup your made in iTunes returning your newer data to your phone. If you want your old photos on your phone, sync them there from your computer using iTunes. The process would look like this:
Connect your phone to your computer, when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases; right-click again and select Backup.
Disconnect from your computer and go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings to return it to new
Go through the activation setup, choosing to Restore from iCloud backup. Make sure your phone is plugged into a charger and has access to wi-fi as this can take hours to complete.
When complete, without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to Preferences. On the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Now import the old photos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083)
When done, open iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left sidebar and select Restore from Backup, choose the backup you made in step 1.
Go to the Photos tab and select the photos you want to sync to your phone and sync.
