Missing recently imported photos

I recently imported some photos from my camera.  iPhoto said everything was imported and so I clicked on remove from camera.  Today I went to look at those pictures and I can't find them.  The worst part is that they are gone from my camera, suggestions?

1 - in the future never have iPhoto )or any computer program) delete your photos - import and properly disconnect - later ( I wait for at least one backup cycle) use the camera format command to erase and reformat the card
2 - are they in Last Import?  If they are then your event sort is probably set to manual - set it correctly - view menu ==> sort events
3 - otherwise you probably are going to need a data recovery program - media recover has proven to do a good job according to users here - http://freshcrop.com/

  • Can't open recently imported photos in LR3

I can't open any of the recently imported photos in LR3? When I pull them up from my external hardrive it tells me the photo is allready imported and wont let me do it again. I can open older photo's just not recent ones. Please help.

Sounds like you are trying to Import the photos. As you have found out, this doesn't work if you have previously imported the photos.
Normally, you import the photos via File->Import once per photo (and ONCE only), and thereafter, when you want to work with or view these photos, you do NOT do an Import, you go straight to those photos in the Library Module. In this respect, Lightroom is very different than other photo editors you may have used in the past.

  • Recent imported photos cannot be edited nor will they show on slideshow. Help

I am running Iphoto 09 on Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.8 snow leopard recent imported photos in my album cannot be edited nor will they show on slideshow while others in the same album do. if I open the picture from slide show I get a screen displaying a white ! and the show displays a black screen until the next picture moves up. Older imported pictures in other albums play fine in slideshow and can be edited. Is there some hidden settings I need to change to allow me to edit these particular photos and use them in my slideshow?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • How do I add recently imported photos to a calendar that I'm already working on?

I'm working on a calendar in iPhoto, and I originally used the previous years worth of photos.  I recently imported new photos into iPhoto, but I can't get them into the calendar I'm working on.  Any ideas?

  • Lightroom 3 making duplicate copies of recent imported photos by itself?

I use Lightroom 3 and recently it has started making multiple duplicates of recent imported (and exported) photos without me doing anything.... what happens is I import a batch of photos, make adjustments to them, export them... close lightroom.
Then when I reopen lightroom, the previous imported set of photos have all been duplicated and sometimes there is more than one copy of each photo.
Is there anything I can do to stop this? I'm pretty sure I didn't change any settings to make this happen.

Lightroom never does anything by itself. It only does what you tell it to do, either you tell it to do something specifically, or you tell it to do something accidentally.
Perhaps in the export dialog box, you have (accidentally) selected "Add to this Catalog"?

  • Recently imported photos not being filed in LightroomMasters Folder...

I'm a Mac user and a newbie to Lightroom having recently imported my Aperture Library to that application. Following the import from Aperture, a folder was created in my Pictures Folder called LightroomMasters and all the masters went into that folder in subfolders...year and date. I believe this is the correct default process. However, images I have imported since then have gone into the selected Collections OK but the later masters are not in Pictures/LightroomMasters, they have been put in dated folders but these are on the top level in Pictures. Hence looking at the content of my Pictures Folder I have dated folders (containing these later imports) and further down in Pictures I have the LightroomMasters Folder which has not been added to since the original Aperture import. I guess if I manually move these "outside" folders into the LightroomMasters folder, Lightroom Catalogue will then not be able to find them.  Am I missing something here? Any suggestions

You can manually move the folders from within LR. Simply drag and drop the folder to its new location. This will move the files on your drive.
If you move the folders with finder, you will have to tell LR where folder is now located. It will show a '?' on the folders it can not find. Right click a folder and select to update its location.
    NEVER do re-import!

  • Why are my recent imported photos disappearing?

All of my photos imported in the last 2 months have disappeared from my iphotos events. Where have they gone, and is there any way to get them back? Once I import them they show up, but if I quit iphoto and reopen they are no longer there. We just recently sarted to use time machine to back up our system, though I think some of the missing photos predate the addition of time machine.
How can I stop this from happening and how can I recover month's worth of missing photos?

Have you checked the View ➙ Sort menu to make sure the Events are sorted as you expected and looked for the photos that way?
Or use the Search feature at the bottom and choose Date.
Then click on one of the last two months and see what you get:
If none of those find any photos continue with (assuming you're running iPhoto 9):  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Folders missing of imported photos

    Hello,
I have imported a shoot of about 3300 raw images in several folders directories.  One of the folders is missing.  It is on the hard drive and contains images.  I try synchronizing the parent folder and it indicates images need to be imported.  While trying to import the images get grey out and then nothing gets imported.  The images appear no where else in LR.  Earlier I did have a drive failure, I replaced the drive with a back with identical folder and directed LR to it.  All good with exception of folder.

I did the procedure you suggested and did locate one of the files, but then I wasn't sure how to use that info to get the folder to show up (that was before JimHess suggestion to right-click and Go to Folder in Library). So I closed LR and let it run through the optimization process as it backed up, and when it was done, by chance I found one of the missing folders. Somehow it had moved to the root directory instead of the master folder it had been in, and so did another folder. I needed to export my work files for the client before anything else, and I'm about to try and move them back to the master folder. (The "master folder" as I am referring to it, is simply a folder on the root, that is an umbrella for all the sub-folders I create every week for an ongoing project - one sub-folder per week). Any idea why the sub-folders would move? Would upgrading to v3.6 help with any of this, or with anything?
BTW, the folders did not move in Windows Explorer, they're still under the Master folder there. They only moved in LR.
    Thanks
    Andy

  • Recently imported photos lost (?)

This afternoon, I imported 500 photos from my iPhone 5 into iPhoto ('11, v 9.4.2). After the photos were imported, iPhoto asked me if I wanted to keep the photos on my iPhone or delete them. I selected "delete" (which the program did). iPhoto subsequently crashed and now the photos aren't showing up in either place (on the phone or in iPhoto). I can locate the photos in my library but don't know the best way to get them into iPhoto. I tried repairing the iPhoto library but it didn't fix things. What's the best way to proceed?
    Thanks!

Well... I'm not sure what I did, but everything's fixed!

  • TS4095 iPhoto quit unexpectedly and erased imported photos

After recently importing photos from my memory card into iPhoto I opted to erase pictures from memory stick because of limited space. When I clicked erase iPhoto quit unexpectedly and now my photos are not in my library or on the memory stick. Are they gone forever or are they floating around somewhere? Thanks.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Imported Photos only show up as Rejected

    Hey All,
Did some searching but couldn't find anything that described my problem. I recently imported photos from 3 memory cards into three separate new projects. All of the imports worked fine (was importing directly from camera) and I left Aperture to create the previews/thumbnails etc. I came back to everything completed and shut down the program.
The next day I notice the start up screen doesn't tell me I have any pictures that haven't been updated in a vault (odd because I hadn't updated with the newly added pictures). I find all the images in all three projects are not there. I go into the external drive that houses my Aperture library, 'Open Contents' etc and get to the new projects, all the photos are there physically on the drive, inside of my Aperture managed library but do not show up in Aperture at all. Nothing in my 'Added in last week' folder, nothing in Rejected folder, nothing in All Photos, and nothing in the individual projects. On a whim I decide to search rejected photos in each project. Low and behold there they are. Okay, I re-tag every photo with 1 star, they show up now in unrated or better, but this goes away when I re-boot Aperture. Now I have a bunch of photos rated at one star but only show up when I search 'rejected' in the individual projects and don't show up in any of other folders I mentiond or any other search.
    I tried:
    -updating Aperture
-copy/pasting the projects out of aperture library and importing whole projects.
    -moving pictures to different projects
    -re creating previews
Nothing has worked, anyone heard of this before?

    Just to clarify,
    1) is the problem limited to the same exact photos, no matter where they go in the Library?
    2) Did you try making fresh new versions from the same masters, and deleting the old probelatic versions, to see if new versions had the same problem?
    3) were all photos from the same import session affected, or, all imports from the same day?
    4) Have you had any further problem with newer imports (test shoot & import)?
If "YES" to #1, there has to be a common link between these individual photos. It's highly unlikely that the master files are at fault, because rejects/ratings seem to be Aperture-specific metadata tags and therefore assigned only to the versions, not masters. See if generating new versions from the master file might fix the problem, but DO NOT lift-stamp any metadata from old problematic versions onto new ones.
Hope this helps narrow things down.
    best,
    Jin

  • Imported photos- offline?

I recently imported photos from my camera to my laptop and Photoshop Elements 11. Why do each of the impages have an icom that says they are offline? And when I try to enlarge them, they are blurry?

It looks like you imported the photos from files and folders (Ctrl+Shift+G) rather than getting them from camera or card reader (Ctrl+G).  The former means they are only registered in the catalog but still reside in the camera.  All you have in the Organizer now is the thumbnails.
If I am correct with this assumption, you will have to delete them from the Organizer (not the Hard Drive) and re-import (upload) them by getting the photos from camera or card reader (Ctrl+G).

  • Where are my imported photos?

    Hi folks
Just a quick question i have recently imported photos from a SD card onto my macbook via iPhoto however i have now been looking for them via finder but i cant find them? Does anyone know why this would be?
    Thanks

By default there are stored within the iPhoto Library in your Pictures Folder.
If you use iPhoto you don't access the files via the Finder. iPhoto replaces the Finder for anything to do with your images.

  • My latest import photos are missing from my iphoto library but still on my ipad, how do I get them back into iphotos. I very frustrated because i just imported them from my camera and have not been able to go thru and edit the ones I want. Help please

I recently imported pictures from my camera to iphoto. I also synced my ipad. In less than 24 hours my photos are now missing from iphoto even after trying to sync my ipad again. These pictures are from a very special occasion and I did not even get time to edit. Someone help please

    -Background-
My issue, which I resolved and may help you was the following:
I have an IPAD 3. I took over 5 GB of pictures on a third party camera. The car was full so I imported those pictures to my IPAD 3 and deleted them from the SD card. While on IOS 5.x, the photos on the IPAD were there under last imported.
Over the last few days, I upgraded to IOS 6. No issues.
Then, my family wanted to see the pictures from the trip. I went to the IPAD and could not find the photos. It listed 40 photos only. The last imported was there, but listed as empty. When I went into the settings>usage, it listed 5GB + of photos in the photos area. I was confused. I plugged my IPAD into ITUNES, first thinking I would get a backup asap (icloud was full after importing the photos). Then I though I would downgrade to IOS 5.
Also, itunes listed that I had 40 photos only, but 5GB of OTHER data. I was convinced the data was not lost. When I tried to browse the IPAD 3 using windows browser, the photos where NOT in the DCIM folder, so I was not able to simply "FIND" the photos and copy them to my PC.
    -SOLUTION-
I downloaded third party software onto my PC called "http://www.i-funbox.com/" I fun box. I had no idea if this would work, but other forums with other issues called out similar products for iphone issues.
When I installed the program, which was free, and so far free of malware, I started  to explore my IPAD file system.I found my photos, under IPAD>RAW file system>DCIM>100IMPRT.
    -ROOT CAUSE-
I suspect when I upgraded to IOS 6, apple fails to register the IMPORT folder of photos as such, photos. So the file system in IOS looses sight of what is inside the last imported folder. Essentially removing them from applications such as "Photos". Why windows does not seem them, is beyond me. But the program I found did see them in raw format, and I was able to COPY them to my PC. Then I deleted them from the IPAD, because I had no other way of managing this folder in IPAD, and it was using a lot of space.
