Missing Ringtones Folder

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post in the forum. I am trying to use an old midi file as a ringtone for my iphone. I went through the steps to create the m4r file and import it into itunes. But the file only shows up in my library, for that matter I am actually missing the ringtones folder all in all. Which from the tutorials I have read should be showing under the library with music, movies, podcasts etc... I can play the m4r file in itunes and when I check the file type using right click --> get info --> summary it shows as a ringtone.
Any ideas as to where my ringtones folder may be hiding would be appreciated. Or even why when I drag the m4r file onto the iphone device the file does not show in the ringtone preferences.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Go to iTunes > Preferences.
Under the General tab below Show, is Ringtones selected?

  • Missing Ringtones Folder in iTunes

I have a 3 day old iPhone 4. I'm using the RMaker app to create ringtones. It requires the ringtone to be moved to the 'Ringtones' folder in the Library, but I don't have that folder. I also do not have a Ringtones folder in my iPhone (when it is synced to iTunes)...where is this folder please? Is it possible to create it?
    Many thanks for any advice!

    Go to iTunes > Preferences.
Under the General tab below Show, is Ringtones selected?

  • I do not see the ringtone folder in itunes library

the ringtone folder is not in the itunes library. I've read other posts on how to find it and still don't see it. I see one for tones.  I tried to move a ringtone to the music file for it to automatically populate the folder and that didnt work either.

Tones is the new name for Ringtones. If the entry is missing in the left-hand column of iTunes then enable it from Edit > Preferences > General tab.
If your existing tones are not syncing properly to your iOS device then uncheck the option to Sync Tones from the Tones tab when the device is connected, sync the device, check the option and sync again.
A properly constituted .m4r file (<30secs AAC at 128k) thrown into the Automatically add to iTunes folder should end up getting added to the correct section of the library.

Edit > Preferences.  Select the check box for Ringtones, this will add them to the listing in iTunes.
Not sure that really answers your question though.

  • I deleted my ringtones folder in the library of itunes how do I get it back?

I deleted the ringtones folder in my itunes library as it didn't work how do I get it back? I have tried to get help on the web. someone said I need to go to preferences under the genearl settings on itunes and they had a picture of the window that it appears in ......it doesn't look like anything I have ever seen, maybe that is what you see with an iphone 4 I only have a 3Gs. Can anyone shed some light on the subject please? Thank you

Ringtones have become Tones. Use the menu Edit > Preferences...Select the General tab and put a tick next to Tones. As to any files you deleted, recover them from your backup.

  • When i connect my iphone to itunes, the ringtones folder has disappeared..How do i get it back

when i connect my iphone to itunes, on the left hand side when my device shows up..i click the down arrow and the ringtones folder is not there....so i cant add custom ring tones...how do i get it back?

Apparently it does need to be restored because that is what it is requesting. You will need to restore it as New or from a recent backup if you made one.

  • Where is the ringtones folder in Itunes to put an .m4r in?

i have an .m4r file i wish to use as a ringtone but for the life of me I can't find a "ringtones" folder in my iTunes (version 10) to drop it in!
I have been told it is on the left hand side, but it just isn't there.
How do I find this folder?
    Thanks

Did any of that make sense?
    I think so.
A possible cause for splitting up the album is an extra "space" character at the end of the title, which you would not see, or between two words and you just can't notice it. The cure for this is to copy the Album Title from one track and paste it into all the other tracks. Then you know that every track has the same information.
Another cause is guest artists. If the album's artist is Fred X (for example) and therefore each track is listed as "Fred X", but one song has a guest artists and the artist field says "Fred X and his mate", then that track would be separated out from the others. The usual work round for this problem is to put the guest artist at the end of the song title and delete him (and the space after X) from the artist's field.

  • Ringtone not in ringtone folder

I purchased a ringtone from itunes on my iphone and it has downloaded directly to my iphone, it is in my ipod application on the phone but does not appear in the ringtones folder so i cannot set it as a ringtone.. do i have to sync with my computer or is there a way of doing this without syncing?

yeah I've tried that, might just have to sync it. stupid though, if you can purchase them directly off your iphone, you shouldnt have to sync with a computer, otherwise why not just download it off the computer!
    thanks for your reply

  • Ringtone folder

I've created a ringtone and placed it on my PC.  However, I do not have a ringtone folder.  How do I create one?

Did you check My Music > iTunes > iTunes Music > Ringtones.  If it is not there, just add the Ringtone to iTunes and iTunes will create the folder for it.
