Missing settings

I booted up my powerbook this morning and I had lost loads of settings.
in starting, my user account requested login, which I never have on, and it used a picture for my desktop that I haven't used for over a year. Thought that was starnge, but then when I tried to connect to the internet, I found I had lost ALL locations, including 'Automatic'. I searched hi and lo and no data files seemed to be lost, so decided to do a back-up quick! Booted my Retrospect....it asked me to register my software and provide serial number!! I've used it for years and this particular version for months. Same with my Freehand and Dreamweaver, They say my trial has run out! I bought them years ago! I have the serial numbers, but what has gone wrong?!
As far as I can see, no much else has been lost, I still retain all my favourites in Safari for example.
Any clues anyone on what has happened here?

No, I only ever had one account to my knowledge. I had more before my hard drive crash 18 months ago, [kids, wife and I run 2 diff businesses, so played with the fast user switching when it was novel], but when I re-built, I never bothered so only have one.
Obviously I have been retracing my steps over and over, and the only thing I could think of was that there was a point this morning when I had the 'feeling' that I accidentally might have moved somethin from the system folder to my hardisk, when I moved my mouse across my screen, I but as soon as I had done it, i scanned both and could see nothing missing or nothing new. I dismissed it. I have often accidentally moved files or folders when not employing more haste and less speed! I may be grasping at straws, as I couldn't see anything then or now out of place.

Missing "settings" block after installing Skillbuilders Modal pages(2.0.0)

Today i installed skillbuilders plugin 2.0.0 into hosted apex 4.2.2.x and i realized under (Shared Components > Plug-ins > Create / Edit)
the section "settings" is missing it should come right before the SOURCE section.
Can somebody please explain what could be the issue here?

Missing Settings Items

Good Morning all,
Well, I am hoping that someone out there will be able to help me solve this problem. Ok, here's the deal. I have a 3g iphone and have set up 4 email accounts under settings, no problems. Yesterday I tapped the mail app. and saw the 4 accounts that I had set up.
When I went under settings to change the password on one of them, "mail" "calendar" and "contacts" are no longer under settings, therefore I cannot add or delete email accounts. The only things under settings now are airplane mode, wifi, notifications, carrier, sounds, brightness, wallpaper, general, messages, ipod, store and then the apps i have on my phone
Does anyone know how this may have happened and how I can correct it?

New version of Firefox is missing settings. I cannot block ad links or animated pictures any more. I have uninstalled Firefox and plan not to use it now.

The new version of Firefox does not allow me to block sites from displaying media that I don't want. Many site advertisers trigger unpleasant animations and pics and I refuse to use a browser that does not allow me to block those. Because of this I have uninstalled and deleted Firefox from all my computers, including programs, settings, and registry entries.
If I get a reasonable answer from Mozilla on the settings I am missing then I will re-install Firefox, and if not then I'm never using Firefox again.

None of the solutions above allows me to block display of all images on a web page or to prevent scripts from running. Preventing pop-ups does not cut it. I want to see a web page that, without my explicit permission, displays nothing but text on every site. This has to do with regular content on pages, not advertisements. So far, it seems, the new Firefox is unable to provide this security.
These days so many 'advertisers' (so they call themselves) are competing more and more viciously to hijack web pages that I need to access by using auto-linking and animated images to get around ad-blockers. I need to be able to block everything except text on a page unless i give specific information to allow it for a particular site - some sites do not allow those ads and I can release the restrictions on those sites.
I am not using Firefox, and also have some complaints about other browsers; I am considering doing all my work on the Tor browser.

HELP! Restore complete but missing settings, contacts, etc.!!!

I had to swap out my iPhone at the Apple Store and backed up before I brought it in. Got a new iPhone (same model - 32 GB 3GS) and when I go to restore from the backup it says restore complete but EVERYTHING is missing - contacts, email, settings, etc.
Any help will be much appreciated!!!

I brought it back because the silence "switch" stopped responding. They gave me a refurb, and when I go to restore that backup I did previously, it takes FOREVER, says it finishes and then just puts the media on. No notes, mail, settings, contacts, photos. I tried doing an older backup from when I just had the 3G and it went faster and worked. I am scared that although it is not telling me this, that the backup I need is corrupted.

Export GPO Backup Missing Settings

Hi. I'm trying to use SCM 3.0 to implement the WS2008R2SP1 Domain Controllers Security Compliance 1.1 in a newly promoted DC.
The baseline has 393 unique settings but when I tried to export it to a GPO backup folder and then import it back to SCM, I only get 220 unique settings. Is this a bug or a default behavior of SCM 3.0?

I have just seen you thread and wonder if you have found a solution.
I have noticed exactly the same behaviour on trying the member server policy. If I duplicate the policy, export it as a SCM Cab and then re-import, there are exactly the same number of settings, but with a GPO backup it misses 67 setting and creates 3 unique
ones!

White iphone missing settings

my brother has just purchased a white 16gig iphone 4 and updated it to 4.3.3 and he as some settings missing. I have the following
AIRPLANE MODE
WIFI
PERSONAL HOTSPOT
NOTIFICATIONS
LOCATION SERVICES
CARRIER
he has:
AIRPLANE MODE

we are both on the same calling plan and the same network in the UK.

I agree! I think it is crazy that we buy hardware, AT&T finally unlocks it so we can use other networks, but if we use a network that is AT&T based, we cannot get to the Cellular Network Tab. From what I learned, the carriers can choose whether to hide this option (I event tried creating a new carrier bundle for AT&T on my phone and adding the section as false for hiding this on the PLIST file, but that did not work either (the phone would not load the carrier info).
Without accessign this tab you cannot aedit APN or MMS settings. You can get around the APN part by using the iPhone Configuration Utility (I made a video about how to do this here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOlAmneoLHw&feature=plcp
You can also from the phone go to http://www.unlockit.co.nz and he has a collection of profiles for many carriers, however, the video I added will show you how to create your own profile from your computer (not use someone elses).
I hope that Apple reads these and makes an update that allows us to edit our APN/MMS settings (at least for those of us who have Unlocked iPhones). I do not think it is fair that a phone that I purchased cannot be used on other carriers (without having to always install a profile)!

Missing Settings on 3GS

Today i was asked by my girlfriends aunt to help restore and update her 3GS to 4.1. After doing so, i helped set up some settings and noticed that the battery percent option is not there! Also the option of putting wallpaper on Lock/home is also missing. Can someone help :/

for battery percent option
setting>general>usage>battery percentage 'On'
for wallpaper
setting>wallpaper>select any pic form photo library
remember these option are available for '3GS' and may not be available with '3G'.

Creating PDF from File, missing Settings

Acrobat Professional. 6.0.
I never used Acrobats "Create PDF from file", as in my MS Office 2000 there was "Acrobat - Convert to Adobe PDF" menu item with the possibility to change joboptions settings.
My current MS Office 2007 now has its own PDF convertor only, so I tried the Acrobats feature "Create PDF from file". It works, but the Settings button is grayed out with all Office file types. I didnt find a way how to access Acrobats settings, so I tried by first opening Distiller and changing the options there. Nothing happened, the output from Acrobat has always the same file size and quality. Of course I could make PDF out from Office by printing to Adobe PDF printer, but how with other file types which are not Office types.

As I and Bernd tried to say. AA6 does not support OFFICE 2007. The fact that you have PDF Maker from AA6 working in WORD 2007 is surprising. Since it is not a normal or supported operation, we have no idea what to tell you. It should not even be working. You are the first one I have ever heard say that they have the AA6 PDF Maker (create PDF is the way it shows up) working in OFFICE 2007!
Thus, I may misunderstand. But I am trying to tell you that none of us have experience with the configuration. Adobe will also tell you to simply upgrade. Unfortunately, that leaves you on your own to experiment. If you have questions along the way based on your observations, we would be glad to try to help, but don't expect too much.

Missing Settings and Apps

hey guys
sorry if this has been answeared before but....
when i turned on my laptop this morning i noticed that all of my preference had been altered. im also noticing that im missing several programs such as Visage, two of the dashboard widgets that i downloaded (preferences have been reset) and a screensaver and a icon generator. When i opened Safari all of my bookmarks except 5 of them had been deleated. I havent been messing with anything except downloading the icon generator and the only thing i erased were some game aliases that i didnt need.
im hoping this is not a hardware problem or a virus. If you can shed any light on this it would be appreciated. Thanx in advance...

1. Is your Home folder protected with FileVault? If so, try the instructions in "Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4: FileVault - How to verify or repair a home directory image."
2. Did you attempt to rename your Home folder? If so, see "Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4 or later: Return to default desktop, apparent 'loss' of home directory."
3. Are you still the Owner, with Access of Read & Write of your Home Folder, Home > Library folder, and folders within your Home > Library folder, such as Home > Library > Preferences? Check the Details sub-panel of the Ownership & Permissions panel of the Get Info window of those folders. Note that Repair Disk Permissions will not correct such permission issues in your Home folder.
4. As a general checkup, I suggest you run the procedure outlined in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
PS: You may want to get the broken Shift and apostrophe (') keys fixed on your keyboard. Text in all lower case is harder to read than text in proper mixed case.

Changing outlook 2013 contact so they will not receive winmail.dat files - missing settings

trying to change email properties of a contact in outlook 2013 who keeps receiving winmail.dat from one of our guys , trying to get to internet format to change that setting.

but though I can get to properties now, I still do not see Internet Format.
I do not even see it when I create a new contact.
what am I missing?

How can one go to the settings icon to start search if it's not there? Is there another way to get there?

Missing Settings in Iprint Policy

On the Novell Iprint policy, when you bring up the properties and go to
settings, there should be a checkbox for "remove any installed iprint
printer that is not included in this list of printers".
In my case this option is simply not there. Everything else looks correct,
I simply dont have this option. Any ideas why not?

This the forum for the ZenWorks 4.x and AFAIK that option is not
available in this verison. My C1 snap-ins are 4.0.1 IR5 and I can not
see it.

[SOLVED] Totem missing settings on 64 Arch with Gnome 3.6

Hi all,
after clean install Arch 64 with Gnome 3.6.2 I cant find settings in default video player Totem to set my subtitles encoding (East Europe - Windows 1250).
Can anybody tell me, how or where can I set subtitles encoding in new version of Totem?

Premiere CS6 does not remember some settings when saving custom export presets.

When I save a custom export preset in the export window, some settings are not remembered, and I need to change them every time again and again! The settings so far I found to not be saved are:
Key frame every ... frames
Limit data rate to ...

When I create and save an a H.264 QT preset
using the Export Settings dialog from within Premiere,
it does not save the key frame interval or max bitrate.
However, when I create a H.264 QT preset from within
Media Encoder and save... the missing settings are saved
and can be recalled from within the Premiere Export Settings dialog.
EDIT:
Re-tested this a bit more, and now the kf interval & max bitrate are
being saved with the presets created in Premiere Export Settings dialog.
Odd... my first 2 tries didn't take?
