Missing shortcut in Lightroom 2.2 french

Hello,
I am on Lightroom 2.2 *french* for Windows, in the Window menu, the shortcut for the second element in the Panel sub-menu is always missing, whatever the module.
There is only "Ctrl + Maj +"

Hi,
Bug confirmed and explained.
1. Open \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
2\Resources\fr\TranslatedStrings.txt in Notepad.
2. Look for a group of instructions looking like this:
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel0=Cmd+Shift+o"
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel1=Cmd+Shift+&"
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel2=Cmd+Shift+a"
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel3=Cmd+Shift+y"
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel4=Cmd+Shift+'"
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel5=Cmd+Shift+("
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel6=Cmd+Shift+t"
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel7=Cmd+Shift+è"
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel8=Cmd+Shift+_"
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel9=Cmd+Shift+ç"
3. The one that has a problem is
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel1=Cmd+Shift+&"
The bug is obvious. When displaying the menu, the & character is probably interpreted as a request for underlining the character that comes just after it. However in this case, there's none. So nothing is displayed. A beginner's mistake :-) .
4. Now you have two choices:
4.1 You leave TranslatedStrings.txt unchanged. The actual shortcut being Ctrl+Shift+&, it works. Just it is not correctly displayed in the menu.
4.2 You chose another character for this panel's shortcut. For example:
"$$$/AgPanel/LeftPanelShortcut/Win/Panel1=Cmd+Shift+x"
Now the command will be triggered by Ctrl+Shift+x.
Once again this demonstrates that the main problem that we have with
Lightroom since the beginning is that is not tested thoroughly enough. If someone - the person in charge of the localization - had tried *only once* to test the shortcut displayed in the menu, she would have seen that there was a problem. So nobody did this or she didn't care. Let's remember that LR is sold at a much higher price to non US users allegedly because the localization work is assumed to take additional development and testing time. However, this is not the first bug that is related to untested keyboard stuff.
This is also a good opportunity to remind every non english speaking user of Lightroom that modifying TranslatedStrings.txt is the only way to change the keyboard shortcuts (at least some of them). At this price level, I can't understand that the program interface doesn't offer a shortcut editor.
Cheers.

  • How I fixed the missing shortcuts in InDesign CS4

Today, I got hit by the 'missing shortcut' syndrome on my Windows install of InDesign CS4 - all menu items were totally void of any shortcut. Even cut, copy, paste had no more shortcut keys - Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V didn't do a thing.
I tried fixing it via the Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts... menu, but there I could not even see a set name, and there was nothing I could do.
Ok, tried resetting the preferences - no joy.
Ok, tried wiping the 'Version 6.0' folders from the hidden folders where preferences were stored - no joy.
I got out some diagnostic tools, and noticed InDesign was trying (and failing) to access a folder called
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\Presets\InDesign Shortcut Sets\en_US
I checked it out - I did not have a folder called en_US in
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\Presets\InDesign Shortcut Sets
but I did have a folder called en_GB
    Hmmm....
I opened an Explorer window into the InDesign Shortcut Sets folder, and I made a copy of the folder en_GB and renamed it to en_US.
Relaunch InDesign and bingo - all is well!
Looks like InDesign is getting confused between British and US English - probably it got installed as British English, then decided it rather be US English. Why that'd be - no idea.
So, here's what you can try if your shortcut keys suddenly disappear on you:
    1) Navigate to the Adobe InDesign CS4 folder
    2) Go into the Presets folder
    3) Go into the InDesign Shortcut Sets folder
    4) If you see a folder called 'en_GB', but no folder called 'en_US', make a copy of the en_GB and rename the copy to en_US. Possibly the reverse could also happen - you see en_US, you might want to try and copy it to en_GB.
    Hope that helps!
    Cheers,
    Kris

    Thanks for responding.
I had all the Symptoms you list and Kris's solution sorted them out. (It's well worth keeping a backup of those folders.)
However, I found I still had problems that may or may not be related (sorry if this is off topic). Most notably "Registration…",  "Deactivate…" and "Updates…"  buttons greyed out in InDesign, Photoshop etc. and from Task Manager I noticed that the processes would not stop when you quit these programs. Also Distiller refused to start.
After wasting further time I made a few complaints and was finally allocated a tech person in Adobe support who was actually very helpful. By remote control he deleted the hidden file adobe_00080000_tsf data from the hidden folder C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet. We then started InDesign and I had to enter my Serial No. and register again.
This pretty well fixed the other problems above for a day or two then I started getting "Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files." This was fixed by another helpful tech person in Adobe support who, by remote control had a poke around in the <C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe \Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\AMT> folder and surprisingly everything started to work properly again. I don't think he even moved or deleted anything but the whole suite has been trouble free for over a week now.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Help with missing files within lightroom

I need help locating the missing files within lightroom. When I click on the question mark to locate the files, it opens up a window and I click locate, and then the files are no longer there. This happens even on files that I have not moved out of lightroom. How can I make all of my files appear as they used to? Thanks so much!

You have to find the photos on your hard disk, somewhere. At this point, Lightroom can't help you because it doesn't know where the photos are. If they haven't been renamed, you can have your operating system search all of your hard disk(s) for a specific photo name. Then, you can reconnect entire folders (or folder hierarchies) via

  • How to fix 'missing files' in Lightroom 4? [was: adobe lightroom 4]

    Hi,
I have the scenario whereby all the images, I assumed, on my hard drive were as I imported to my  catalogue.  but it now appears that all of my images, are showing as previews but some are showing as 'missing files'.  Attempts to reconnect are proving futile as the usual click on and find previous file location location point me to the 'c' drive with a request for the file name.  On doing this, the 'C' drive doesn't appear to the have file name I require.  Have I in-advertately scrubbed something?  I have a lot of images of my grandkids, some of which I can delete but there is one particular image of my premature born grandaughter in the hospital I really need to keep.
I can't do any saving, moving of files whilst these question marks are in place, can someone help as this software, is not as user friendly as I first assumed.  All I want is a simple walk thru explanation of saving images from a camera and sorting of existing HD files,(many from past shoots on different cameras), to enable me to sort into some kind of format.
Would it be a good idea to completely scrub all of my images from the 'C' hard drive, (I have a backup on my external deskstop drive), and start afresh?
I have a external drive connected to my laptop and all those images are showing ok with no missing file links.   It's only the laptop internal drive that is showing the problem.
any help would be a bonus as the online youtbe video instructions don't answer my problem.

    Thanks Jim for your response,
    I will upgrade to 5.3

  • Missing Selection in Lightroom 3.2, Metadata

In the local Lightroom 3.2 Documentation it indicates that the options for the Library, Metadata, Options include …
Home / Using Photoshop Lightroom 3 / Organizing photos in the catalog / Viewing and editing metadata
    View photo metadata
In the Library module, the Metadata panel displays the filename, file path, rating, text label, and EXIF and IPTC metadata of selected photos. Use the pop-up menu to choose a set of metadata fields. Lightroom has premade sets that display different combinations of metadata.
With one or more photos selected in the Grid view, or with a single photo selected in the Filmstrip in Loupe, Compare, or Survey view, choose any of the following from the pop-up menu at the top of the Metadata panel:
    Default
Shows the filename, copy name, folder, rating, text label, and a subset of IPTC and EXIF metadata.
    All
Shows the filename, copy name, file path, rating, text label, and all EXIF and IPTC metadata.
    All Plug-In Metadata
Displays custom metadata created by third-party plug-ins. If you don’t have any plug-ins installed, filename, copy name, and folder are displayed.
    EXIF
Shows the filename, file path, dimensions, and EXIF camera metadata such as Exposure, Focal Length, ISO Speed Rating, and Flash. If your camera records GPS metadata, the information appears as EXIF metadata.
    EXIF and IPTC
Shows the filename, size, type, location, metadata status, as well as all EXIF and basic IPTC metadata.
    IPTC
Shows the filename and basic IPTC metadata: Contact, Content, Image, Status, and Copyright metadata.
    IPTC Extension
Shows the filename and IPTC metadata for model and artwork releases and other types of licensing rights.
    Large Caption
Shows a large caption edit box and the copyright box.
    Location
Shows the filename, copy name, folder, title, caption, and location fields.
    Minimal
Shows the filename, rating, plus Caption and Copyright metadata.
    Quick Describe
Shows the filename, copy name, file path, rating, and the following EXIF and IPTC metadata: Dimensions, Date Time, Camera, Title, Caption, Copyright, Creator, and Location.
In the Metadata panel, if an IPTC metadata field displays an arrow, clicking the arrow is a quick way to find and view all photos containing the specific metadata.
If multiple photos with different metadata settings are selected, the metadata fields display <mixed>. To show the metadata for the photo that’s targeted (active) within the selection, choose Metadata > Show Metadata For Target Photo Only. If more than one photo is selected in the Filmstrip in Loupe, Compare, or Survey view, the Metadata panel displays metadata only for the active photo.
The 3.2 version of lightroom does not include the ALL choice. Is this correct?
    Thanks

The All option does appear to be missing in 3.2 (not sure if it was in 3.0 or not).  In any case, I usually develop my own templates manually.  You can also try out the plug-in at: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/metadata-presets which should generate the desired template (including an "all" template) if you so desire.  I am not related to this developer but you might take a look at his site for other plug-ins that might benefit your workflow.

  • Missing Files in Lightroom

I imported about 150 photos today from a shoot into Lightroom, and began to edit them. A few hours later, I got a message on my computer that my hard drive was full, so I made space by deleting some old files. When I opened up Lightroom, I found that all of the photos from my most recent import were "offline or missing". I attempted to locate the photos, but when I searched for the file names in finder, nothing came up. Unfortunately, I had formatted my memory card since, so I cannot retrieve them from there. Any suggestion

You need to search using your operating system's search feature. If that doesn't find the photos, they're probably gone. You then need to find an "undelete utility program", install it and then run it to see if it can recover your photos. Run it on your hard disk(s) and on the camera card.
In the future, you should not be deleting photos from the camera card until you have 2 copies of each photo, an "original" and a backup on a different physical disk. Also, once you import photos into Lightroom, you need to do all photo management from within Lightroom and not in the operating system.

  • Locating and reinstalling missing files in Lightroom 1.4 ....

I would like to know how to re-install missing files once you locate a missing folder or set of files, I don't understand what to do next (once you have found the files) in order to put the file back into it's original location so the files will work in Lightroom (i.e. change the "red" wording back into "white wording" in the folder column). Initially I click onto the red word and a"locate missing folder" window pops up indicating the files original location at the bottom of the window. I have tried putting that file back into it's original location but nothing changes in Lightroom.
Also I notice that the file will still be listed in the library so when I have tried to just drag that fie back into Lightroom, I am unable to because a window pops up saying the file is already in the catalog. At which point it ask me if I would like to see that file in the Library. Once I see the file in the library I have to delete it in order to re-install the original file.
EEEEKKKKKS there must be a simpler way than this just to re-locate files and make the work again ????? I have tried finding information in Adobe's support manual for Lightroom but can't seem to find the answer. I have also tried using other sources like Scott Kelby's book on Lightroom.
This seems like such an obvious problem that would occur with all users so I know I must missing or overlooking something here. I love Lightroom but this is one of the little frustrations I have with the program. I wish a better manual came with the program when I bought it......
I would appreciate any help anyone has on this topic..... Wesley Wong

  • Things I see missing since using Lightroom for tethered capture.

I have previously been using Leaf and Capture One, now we are converting to LR b/c of its features. But there are a few small things that I noticed are missing that should be easy to fix. First the compare window. When shooting tethered in Capture One you can pick a compare variant and it stay's up on the left and all the new captures show up on the right. I have tried the survey option in LR but when you make a capture or use the crop tool you're compare view goes away. This would be very helpful in my situation because we shoot high volume and the shots need to be as simalr as possible.  Also something as simple as the grid, there are workaround but annoying ones. Please just ad a grid button,so you can turn it on and leave it on, along with movable guide lines, these are the only little features that Capture One has and LR does not.

You should be able to see the number in your system files/foldes by navigating to:
    Mac:
    /Users/[your user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Lightroom 4.0 Registration
    Windows

That's a new one on me! At least that the shortcuts just disappear like that. I'm assuming the applications were not un-published?
What if you go onto one of the machines, fire up Powershell and try:
    Set-Executionpolicy RemoteSigned
    Type Y
    import-module appvclient
get-AppVClientPackage *name of one of the missing apps*
Then copy the Name of the application and type:
    Publish-AppVClientPackage "Full app name"
    That should publish the application...

  • Missing files in Lightroom 3.4.1  Help!!

I was working in Lightroom 3.4.1 (Vista Operating System) with my soccer pictures and had to momentarily leave my computer.  My 13 year old daughter came in with a friend, and while my Lightroom was still open in the Library, she put my Lightroom down into the system tray, proceeded to try to load a DVD game, found she could not, logged off of my user (while Lightroom was still open mind you), logged onto hers, tried the DVD again, found it still would not load, logged off her user and returned to mine, and then soon after left my computer after the computer shut itself down.  I returned to the computer, opened my Lightroom, and had almost every photo show the little film strip and question mark in the top right hand corner indicating that the original file was missing or unavailable.  I was just working on them prior to that and they were fine.  Unfortunately, I do not make copies of my original files from my CF cards until I have them edited, then I send them to an external hard drive.  From now on, my procedure changes.  But, for now, does anyone know what happened and how I can get these pictures to be editable again?  No, I do not have the original files.  When I import my pictures from the CF cards, I then re-use the CF cards so I do not have to buy 100's of them.  I never thought my daughter would be my downfall for these.  Ugh!!!!  Can't edit any of them in the develop module at all......all that work....gone!!  I can see my edits and all the pictures, but can't do a thing with them!  Well, tough lesson learned.  Any assistance any one can give me would be greatly appreciated!!  Thank you so very much!!!!

  • Missing Metadata from Lightroom Gallery Jpegs

I have been making some Lightroom web galleries using standard templates that are included in LR. However when I examine or remove the large jpegs it seems that my metadata has been stripped out by the process. I'm looking at the large photo in Photoshop CS3 by going to File>File Information. None of the keywords or copyright information is present.
The metadata displays correctly in the Library area within Lighroom.
    I'm using Mac OS 10.4.8

Thanks for the suggestion Sean, I'll give that a try. I'll also run a test by simply trashing the old sidecar files. That may be the path of least resistance.
I hate to go back to Bridge especially after spending the last year using Photo Mechanic, which I still use in my assignment workflow. For editing, ranking and renaming it's head and shoulders above Bridge but it's weakness is that it can't make customized web galleries and it's not a RAW converter either. It does make galleries but they lack even the most basic HTML customizable features without serious coding. That said, Photo Mechanic's ability to embed metadata is fantastic. You can even embed the unique file name of each image as a keyword. If you've ever been handed back one of your own images by a client after they remove the file name and spent time searching for it you'll begin to appreciate being able to go to the metadata and just get the file name in the keyword field.
I'm using Lightroom only to make web galleries for my stock site and it's very important to me that copyright info gets embedded into each image. Keywords would be helpful too but that's not a deal breaker.
So far Lightroom has been fantastic as a batch processing tool but I'm amazed at how difficult it is with metadata. If metadata can't reliably be entered and saved in files then what good is it? The thing that bothers me the most is that it looks as if it's totally stripped out in the gallery process which is unspeakably awful.
I hope that the answer is that I'm doing something wrong in my processing and that it's easily fixable.
