Missing source material when reopening a batch

I'm kind of new to Compressor so maybe this is easy? I simply want to recompress some sequences in a batch that I saved to a bigger frame size. When I open the batch it says the source media file cannot be found. I can't relink it though because it's a final cut pro sequence. How does one relink a sequence since it won't let you choose the FCP project as it's reference? Do I have to go back and recreate all my batches?

Unfortunately sending directly to Compressor from FCP doesn't work like that. It establishes a link to the Final Cut Pro application, not the project file, and request FCP for the frames it needs, one at a time.
So if you want to export it again you will either need to send it to Compressor once more, or export a QuickTime from FCP and import it manually into Compressor (this actually makes things a lot easier and more flexible).

  • Missing Source files when exporting to Soundtrack and LiveType

An extremely frustrating "glitch" has occurred. When exporting to LiveType or Soundtrack, I receive and error message telling me that one or more of my source files are missing. I had been editing with these files in FCP 5 for the past few days with no problems. Initially I had no problem exporting to LiveType. Yet, today when I exported to Soundtrack Pro and subsequently LiveType, my source files just disappear. I have found some references to this issue in the discussions, but found no solution. If someone has found a solution since the last posting, please inform of it.

Export the clip using current settings.
Then open that in LT, and work with it independently.
Then export is and import it into FCP and use it to replace the original clip in the sequence.

  • IMovie Missing Source Media - Is there a batch reconnect?

In the middle of an iMovie Project I purchased a new mac and swapped out the drives now iMovie can't find any of the media for any of my 100s of projects. Is there a way to simply point to the new drive with all the media or will I have to reimport all the clips all over again?
I know Final Cut has a way to re-connect media by just pointing to the folder and it does the rest for you...
    Any recommendations very appreciated.

    Good post.
A minor point, though, is that it is not usually necessary to trash the Thumbnail Cache Data Files. Just the cache.
However, if the problem keeps coming back, one or more of the data files could be corrupt. Note that when you trash the data files, any clips for which you have changed the poster frame (the frame that displays as the thumbnail image) will lose that info and will have to be reset. I think that's correct.

  • Valuation Type is missing for Material and Batch

    Hi Experts,
I am facing issue related to delivery.
While creating Order to cash cycle for one sales area, there is no error at all, but when I am trying to repeat the same cycle with same customer and material, different sales area and document type, I am not able to save delivery document. and receive error as "Valuation Type is missing for Material X and Batch Y".
    Kindly suggest possible errors.

Check whether the required Valuation type is maintained in material master.  Also, update the error message number.

  • Source Material error when burning disk image

Well, I've been haunting these forums for 10 days, finding answers to every darn problem under the sun I've encountered! (thanks folks, I've been near hysteria) Now I have yet another problem, and I cannot find an answer in the forums (sorry if it's there.)
I have built my movie in iMovie, imported to iDVD, created my disk image, played my disk image (worked perfectly), connected my brand new LaCie external burner, loaded Toast 6 Lite, dragged my mounted disk image icon into the window, popped in my Verbatim DVD+R and let 'er rip.
And, poo, I'm informed that 4 files are in an unsupported format and cannot be imported. EH? I thought the disk image kept all self-contained? I press onward, and hit burn. Churning, churning... and then this message:
"Could not record disc because there is a problem with the source material. Result code= -18774"
Trying to burn via Disk Utility doesn't work either. My mounted disk shows up, but when highlighted the burn button is grayed out. Only when I click on the .img file is the burn option lit.
Am I supposed to drag the .img file rather than the mounted little disc icon? PLEASE HELP. These movies were SUPPOSED to be Xmas presents... now I'm praying for Michaelmas gifts!
    TIA

ohmygosh. Lightbulb! I've been trying to burn the file_name one and not the file_name.img one. I assumed the point of mounting the file was to burn it, but it's only to preview it, yes?? So, I did that via Disk Utility, and it worked!! Only thing I can't figure is how to set the burn speed. I know slower is better, but can't find the place to tell it the speed. It never asks.
Toast still gives me the source material error. I do have the 'video' tab selected, and I've done the drag-n-drop method AND the 'add' method ('copy' is only for transferring data from one CD/DVD to another in my version, evidently). Toast doesn't allow me to grab the .img file, so I'm assuming IT wants the mounted file_name one? I'd still like to be able to use Toast to burn, so a solution to this would be appreciated. I'm using Toast 6 Lite, BTW.

  • Copy characteristic value(class 023 ) from the material master to the batch

    Dear All,
Is there a way to copy the characteristic value (class 123) from material master to the batch master automatically once we create a batch of that material
I tried to create a dependency, but didnu2019t know what to write in the dependency editor
    Please advise

I dont know if its possible in standard,  you can try and create a reference batch, and use the below user exit I found in SAP library :
Set Up Customer Exit for Determining Source Batch
You can use function module exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_011 in SAP enhancement SAPLV1ZN when assigning characteristic values to batches. You use this to specify a reference batch when creating a new batch with the central function module VB_CREATE_BATCH.
    Further notes
The reference batch must always be specified completely. This means the reference material, source batch and reference plant details must have been entered if the batch is determined at plant level.
All batch master data is copied. If the batch is classified in this enhancement, the values assigned to the corresponding characteristics are copied.
In the exit, you can use a communication structure with the application data for the respective business transaction (for example, plant or material type). If you require further information, you must obtain it yourself in one of the user exits (such as time, user name, or date, for example).

  • "Missing Operating System" when trying to boot from USB

I have a macbook air (3,2), and I'm trying to install Arch onto the partition that currently has Ubuntu. I have tried a few different ways to get the Arch core iso onto the usb key drive, but no matter what I do, I am ending up with the message "Missing Operating System" when I boot into it.
I started out using the instructions from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … tion_Media for writing it on OSX, using diskutil unMount, then the dd with bs=8192, and of=/dev/disk2
When that didn't work, I tried booting into my ubuntu install, and used just a plain
    sudo dd if=archlinux.iso of=/dev/sdb
Still no luck, so then I went to my old standby of unetbootin, which didn't do any better. I just tried yet again with the dd in ubuntu, and I'm still not having any luck.
Here's some of the relevant info I could find:
    $ sudo dd if=Downloads/archlinux-2011.08.19-core-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sdb
    772096+0 records in
    772096+0 records out
    395313152 bytes (395 MB) copied, 1.55667 s, 254 MB/s
    $ sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb
    Disk /dev/sdb: 8065 MB, 8065646080 bytes
    64 heads, 32 sectors/track, 7691 cylinders, total 15753215 sectors
    Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0x3946b2c9
Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
    /dev/sdb1   *           0      772095      386048   17  Hidden HPFS/NTFS
One interesting thing I noticed was that the dd took about 10 minutes in mac osx, and under 2 seconds in linux.  That seemed like a pretty big difference between the two systems, but I'm not sure if that's related to the batch size on the write, or to the implementation of dd used in OSX.
Is there something obvious I'm missing?  I know the computer is able to boot from this key drive because I was able to boot an Ubuntu livecd from it just a few days ago.  Unfortunately, the MBA won't boot from my external cd/dvd drive because it's not the apple brand super-drive, and I don't want to spend the money for a super-drive, so a cd-based install isn't an option.
Really looking forward to playing with Arch, because some of my friends recommended it to me highly. I'm a former gentooer (years ago) who became fed-up with installing *everything* from source. I can't stand ubuntu doing everything for me, and debian always seemed so far behind the curve on everything, so Arch seems like the perfect OS if I can just get into the installer. :)
    Thanks so much!
    ~Maquis

Oh, forgot to mention, I did the dd from ubuntu with both bs=4M and without a bs argument. the version without the bs argument is the one that went really fast.
Neither version would boot, so I don't think that the way I'm writing it is the problem.
I did just notice that if I just do a sudo fdisk -l without specifying the drive, I have 2 entries for my drive:
    Disk /dev/sdb: 8065 MB, 8065646080 bytes
    64 heads, 32 sectors/track, 7691 cylinders, total 15753215 sectors
    Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes

  • Best color workflow with hdv source material?

    Hi,
I am wondering about the best workflow for working with hdv material in color?
My first Color experience, I sent a AIC timeline (hdv source) to color, made my corrections, clicked NO when sending back to fcp when asked if I wanted the rendered timeline to be conformed to color render settings (apple pro-res) as I wanted the same sequence settings back in fcp.
I then tried to off/online back to my source hdv capture files, and therein arose the problems. Because color had renamed the files, the new names came up in the re-connect media window, not the hdv source. When ignoring these and locating the hdv source, the corrections were not attached.
After advice, tried onlining the original, locked edit, opening in color - files came up red (offline?), but could not apply the grades from the previous project anyway, as the whole program crashed before I could do anything?
Thoughts on workflow, theories on what I may have done wrong greatly appreciated.
Lastly, a lot of noise appeared in some clips I adjusted in color, which did not occur when making similar corrections to the same clips using the 3-way color corrector within fcp itself.
    How come?
    Thanks for listening,
    -Tom

Hi Tom, agree 100% with all of JP OWENS comments on this thread. This is very good advice.
Myself, coming from the dark side of a SONY HDV (HVR-Z1P) and DUMPING the SONY for a Panasonic DVCPROHD HVX-200 iFRAME HD format 66mbs and 110Mbs DVCPROHD 4:2:2 CODEC was primarily because when using COLOR on the HDV it was as dreadful as JP OWENS says it is.
As as has been mentioned in this thread, for working with HDV and trying to perform any reasonable grading using color.app you would indeed move it all to  PRORES422 by either:
    • ingesting it as proposed from the source as APPLE PRORES 422 or
    • ingesting and then BATCH CONVERTING in FCP (or go via a COMPRESSOR.app DROPLET - a favourite of mine) and THEN importing that into FCP.
It gives you these workflow advantages (again pointed out by Mr Owens):
    • iFRAME format editing in FCP is "faster" (not GoPs to play with in 25Mbs MPEG2 HDV)) and
    • workflow transcoding is faster. (many threads in these forums concerning exporting from an HDV timeline).
However to roughly quote Stu Maschwitz (his DV REBEL book) "+..converting DV to a near loss-less codec is a bit like carrying a golf ball around in a streamer trunk+".. applying this to HDV as well simply meaning that there is also NOT much colour information to work with in grading.correction applications like color.app.
Thus there is NO colour benefit from working in prores 422 from HDV source.
IN short, work in PRORES422 from your HDV source and your workflow will improve and efficiencies will be seen.

Downloading images used to go automatically to the last folder used to save images, even when reopening Firefox. In just the past few days, possibly coinciding wih the most recent updates, the folder defaults to the 'Downloads' folder. This is most annoying. What happened? Internet Explorer 8.0 did the same thing. This was one of the reasons why I started using Firefox to download all images. I went into Tools>Options and it only lets me set another folder. I dont want to set a specific folder I want it to always go to the last folder used. So what gives?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== possibly when the most recent updates were installed, a few days ago

Thanks jscher 2000. I guess I didn't make it clear. "It restarts with all the addons activated, and resumes with the tabs that were open before closing it." IE, it's running fine now with all the extensions activated. Everything is OK now.
So something in the Firefox code was causing the bad behavior. It's not essential that I find out what the problem was - I'm just curious. And if anybody else has this same problem, it might be nice to have it corrected at the source.

  • HDV and DV versions from a PAL sequence based on HDV source material

    Hi,
what is the best way to create DV ( for PAL) and HDV versions of the same source material ?
I have the source material in HDV and started by putting the clips into a PAL sequence. I did the trimming and fine-tuning in the PAL sequence and thought that I can just copy the final clips into a HDV 1080i sequence to get the HDV version .... Obviously this keeps the PAL resolution and consequently displays the picture scaled down in the larger HDV picture...
    Any hints ?
    Thanks,
    Michael

Do it the other way around. Edit in HDV and pout that into a PAL sequence, or simply export a PAL version when you're finished editing.
