Missing static test once published

I have just switched to CS4. When I updated some text in a movie on the site (originally built in an older version of Flash from back in the Macromedia days) things went fine until I published the document. The movie file looks fine but random characters have disappeared and some portions that were Italics have become regular. Everything stays good in the movie file, but the published one loses characters. I tried publishing for flash 5 but that made no difference. What should I be trying? Help!

Thanks, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. How do I reapply the text? I tried just making the whole movie again from scratch and typed the text in again fresh - no cut and paste. It still does the same thing when I publish, changing styles of some words and dropping out characters. What would I do to reapply? Is there something I have set wrong somewhere? Since it didn't work when made anew, I'm at a total loss.....

Photos misaligned on the page once published...

The photos are perfectly placed in the iWeb project. I publish. The photos have moved in their positioning ... I've never seen this happen before. I've remade the page several times. The photos on the other pages are exactly where they should be once published. What might be happening here?

Each photo should be lined up next to the name of the performer. They are in the original iWeb project.

This is quite difficult to demo in written text, but you can have image inside a text box and this text box is inside another text box as here:
the red border box is the image, the white border box is the inside text box and the black border box is the outside text box.
You have to copy the image (red border) into the small text box (white border) , then copy the small text box (white border and its image) and paste it inside the large text box (black border), then use text wrap around the smaller text box to have the final effect.

note that this method will allow you to have padding between the photos and the text, there is no other way around it.

Quiz navigation fails once published

In a recent Captivate 4 project, I added series of quiz questions throughout the tutorial. For each question the correct answer prompts the "click anywhere or press 'y' to continue" message. During the project preview, clicking anywhere or pressing 'y' allows the user to move to the next slide. However, once published as an .html file only the 'y' key allows the user to move forward.
Any insight on this problem would be most helpful. Thank you in advance.

Couple things then...
1. 58+ slides is a lot of slides. Can you cut the project into two courses?
2. If you copy the project then delete slide 57 and/or 58, does the navigation work as expected? Maybe it's an issue with just those slides.
3. Do you have the latest version of CP7? (Adobe - Adobe Captivate Support Center : Downloads) - no guarantee but be sure you're working with the latest version.
4. Try actually publishing and testing, ideally from a webserver (or the LMS). Running 'locally' can induce problems that don't manifest when run online, though it seems unlikely in this case.
5. Flash Player version is current, or relatively current? You have installed the version (or better) that is specified in the project's Publish dialog?
6. Try changing the Playback bar you use, just to see if that makes a difference.
7. Related, enable the TOC (in the 'Skins' panel) and try to navigate to/past the troublesome slides that way, just to see if you can even get to/past that slide via a different method (if you can, indicates a problem with the navigation moreso than the slide itself).

I have a revision a imac g5 with the same problem with only macbreak podcast. I know leo laporte said that the podcast was done in 1080p and my computer with its built in 64 megabyte graphics card might have trouble with this podcast but your machine must have a better graphics card than mine. 1080p requires at least 128 megabytes of graphics memory built in. My machine played this podcast on quicktime fine until they came out with the update to quicktime last week or two ago. I was going to upgrade my memory until I came accross your story and your machines doing the same thing with much better specs. I think it might be the quicktime update that is causing a problem. Maybe Leo will talk about this problem since he is doing a mac show about macs.

How to delete users from Dev and Testing once it is deleted in Production

Is there any automated way to delete the users from development and testing once it is has been deleted from production. i.e. when the administrator deletes the user from production after logging in then it should automatically delete the users from testing and development without logging on in these 2 systems (development and testing). Can anyone help me in resolving this issue.

Ok, you are right in that way I can allow only that person but I have to allow 2 persons at this time. i.e. If at all I have to allow one more person also how should I do it, and also what if the person uses different passwords in development and testing?

Missing Load Test and Coded UI Templates

Missing Load Test and Coded UI Templates even though i have installed Premium Version of Visual studio 2010.
How can we install these?

Based on your issue, as far as I know that the Premium Version of Visual studio 2010 is only support the Unit test and coded UI test template.
And I know that the load test template is only supported with the Ultimate version of Visual Studio 2010.

So if you want to get the load test project template, you will need to install the VS2010 Ultimate.
However, as you said that the coded UI test template missing in the VS2010 Premium, I suggest you could try to
delete your ItemTemplatesCache, ProjectTemplatesCache folder and then run the the devenv /InstallVSTemplates switch and
devenv /Setup switch. Please refer to the following steps:
Step1: Please open Windows Explorer, and navigate to <Visual Studio Installation Path>\Common7\IDE (by default is <C:\Program Files(x86) \Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE>)
Step2:
Delete the ItemTemplatesCache, ProjectTemplatesCache folder;
Step3: Open Visual Studio Command Prompt (2010 x64 Cross Tools Command Prompt under Start menu -> All Programs -> Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 -> Visual Studio Tools
(run it with Administrator privilege: right-click the program -> Run as administrator);

Photos move from where i place them once published

i've created my site and it's been working great for a couple months. I just added new photos to several pages and they all look fine once published except one page! have tried moving them again in iweb, saving, then publishing again, but same thing - the photos are misplaced and covering text.

well, I solved my problem with a very low-tech solution: since every time my photos would appear about an inch higher than where I'd placed them while in iWeb (once published), i intentionally placed them an inch lower than I wanted (had to do a bit of adjusting since I was guessing where they'd show up), but it worked!
I still don't know why this is only happening on this one page, when all the others I did the same and they are fine.

Im using Muse whichj crashes like you would not beleive, but after much perseverance I got a basic 4 page holding site together, I tested the site and it all looked fine, when I uploaded it to the server it looks nothing like the site I tested, to the point that even the background has changed colour and nothing is in the rite place.

How do you stop auto play only go to next slide on click once published Version 7? I mean to stop the play slide bar moving down the bottom?

Thank you, I already have click boxes and buttons on every slide - the slider at the bottom still automatically moves, it doesn't go to next slide until button or box is clicked. I want to stop it moving if possible?
Update: looks like it does the same on the old versions - I'm assuming its the time set to play each slide. I will just even these up so the don't look so inconsistent.

Programming a VI to perform static tests

Dear NI, I am Maria Grazia and I posted a message some days ago but, as you said to me I didn't give much details. Now I want to explain better my research application so I’m going to give more details about my problem. I have to realize some static tests on a steel frame under cyclic loading. By means of an actuator connected to a motor, a force can be applied on the steel frame. An inverter (SSD 650V Series) drives the motor in the required direction (FWD and REV) and controls the motor speed. The motor goes in forward and reverse direction as a result of a relay within the inverter that supplies voltage. A displacement transducer measures the shift caused by the applied force. When it reaches the required shift, the motor stops. Afterwards, the load will be applied in the other sense. I have to realize a VI that drives the inverter which in turn drives the motor connected to the actuator. I would like to know if someone had already realised some similar application and could send it to me in order to understand how Labview works or to have further information about the construction of the VI. I have already the NI hardware required (cDAQ 9172, NI 9476, NI 9263, NI 9205 and NI 9237). Thanks a lot in advance for your help. Maria Grazia

Dear Maria Grazia,
as Centerbolt told you in your previous message, a good solution would be to use the Modbus library, but as I see on the AC650V series specification page, the Modbus Box is optional for these drives; I suspect you don't have one, so the only solution is to program digital and analog inputs and outputs through your DAQ cards in order to drive the inverter.
From what I understood from your description, I think it would not be so difficult to implement it, but I'm afraid you won't find an already developed ready-to-run solution.
I think you would have to acquire a signal from the displacement transducer through an analog input card and process the signal in a loop in order to generate the right outputs for the inverter: in order to understand how the inverter is driven, you should look at its documentation and specification. From the general page of the AC650V drives, they seem to have analog inputs for speed setting and digital inputs for start/stop, for direction and for preset speeds. So you should generate the right digital outputs and, if you want to continuosly change the speed, an analog output.
I can't be more precise, but I encourage you to look at the Getting Started with NI-DAQmx guide and try to implement what I suggested you.
If you'll have more specific problems in doing it, we're here to help you; but please be specific about the single problems you encounter.

NavigateToURL Works During Testing But Not Once Published

Trying to create a simply hyperlink in Flash. Works perfectly during testing. But when I upload to the net, clicking the link takes me to www.thirdnewhope.com/iamtnh.blogspot.com rather than to just www.iamthn.blogspot.com. I've tried changing allowscriptaccess to always. That doesn't work either. I am stumped :-(

Crystal Reports - missing dynamic parameters when published to InfoView

Hi all,
I'm facing a problem when I publish Crystal Reports 2008 V1 which includes dynamic parameters on InfoView (either on BO EDGE 3.1 or Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1). Problem manifests itself in missing dinamic parameters - I get only static parameter panel and need to write in the value by myself... All other documents like Webi, Deski (on BO EDGE) works fine.
I have tried to install all latest Service Pack's for Crystal Reports 2008 V1 but it didn't solve the problem. Btw, Crystal Reports 2008 V1 designer is installed on client machine.
Here are the details of both installations:
BO EDGE 3.1.
OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2
Repository database: MS SQL Server 2005
CR Server 2008 V1
OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2
Repository database: MySQL
Does anyone had a same problem?
I will appreciate any help!

I had the same situation when I changed from a SQL server 2005 data source to a SQL server 2008 data source while using CR 2008. Change printer option default in the report designer to use u201CNo Printer (optimize for screen display) and republish to InfoView. Not sure why this would work, but it resolved the issue for us.

Video slides in Captivate 7 that will not play once published

I recently created an eLearning within Captivate 7 that contains several video slides. When published, the video slides no longer work and instead have a spinning wheel that will not go away. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really don't want to redo the video slides.

Once you publish your files, they *SHOULD* be on your local hard drive. And it's odd, but things behave differently when you play them from your local hard drive than they will once you copy them to the Web Server that all your end users will be accessing the content from.
What was suggested was to copy the files to that Web Server and test from there to see if the issue persists.

Subreport displays "..Missing parameter values" when published

I would like some expert knowledge on the issue i'm currently having with a transaction report that I've developed. I have one main report with all the db tables linked.
I have two parameters field defined, one is part id, the other is date issue.
I have 3 report footers defined: 1=issues subreport, 2=adjustments subreport, 3=cycle counts
The subreports has a subreport link for Part id and one for the date issue, date adjustment, and date cycle counted. I've also created in each of the subreports a date parameter field or else these data will not display on the primary report correctly.
When i run this report in my Crystal Reports XI pro software, it works fine, all transactions are captured and everything is great.
When i publish this report onto the Crystal reports enterprise server, after entering the two values on the main report, the report errors with [COMException: Missing paramter values].
I know that there is a subreport linkage problem that i have or I'm doing something backwards but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Main report:
Has 5 db tables linked, a counts table, a parts table, a detail table, a receipts table, and a adjustment table.
Parameter fields on the Main report:
1 for part id
1 for date issue range <this range should match to the other 3 sub-reports>
Sub-Reports: <example>
Receipts sub
Adjustment sub
Count sub
Example: The report footers where these subreports reside, all their subreport links are:
partid --> ?Pm-<tablename>partid with check in the select data in subreport based on field <tablename>partid
receivedate --> ?Pm<tablename>receive date with no checkbox
same for other 3 = this is the only way the data displays correctly.
All sub-reports have the following parameter fields:
Pm-<tablename.Part>
Receiptdate
Pm-<tablename.receipt date>
Pm<tablename.part>
adjustmentdate
Pm<tablename.adjustment date>
Pm<tablemname.part>
countdate
Pm<tablename.count date>
When i press the refresh on the main report, all of the date ranges comes up, i enter the value in all of the ranges, and the data displays accurately and correctly.
Because the 3 prompts in the sub-reports are not on the main report, i think this is where the problem when i publish the report on the server it errors with missing parameters.
