Missing "Studio Horns" ?

Is logic supposed to have a channel strip preset called "Studio Horns" in the 08 Pop Horns folder in the library?
This training book wants me to use that for a track, but I have no such item in that folder. All I see is Funk Horn Section, Live Funk Horns, and Soprano Sax.
Under the "14 Surround -> 07 Surround Pop Horns" folder I see a "Studio Horns Surround", but I don't think this is what I want. But that's the only thing in the library with "Studio Horns" in the title. Am I missing this instrument? If so, how did that happen?
I previously had GarageBand 11 on this machine, and no versions of Logic Pro before I installed version 9. (With the latest software update)

What surprises me is I had never had Logic installed before, and I'm using a brand new (Dec 2010) Mac Book Pro that came with Snow Leopard and iLife '11 already installed on it, so it came with GB 11.
If the Logic 09 installer really doesn't play well with GB11, I'm surprised more people aren't having problems. The only reason I realized I was missing at least one channel strip setting (and where there is one missing, there are probably more), is because the training book I am using made use of it. Otherwise, I would never have known I was missing anything!
One thing to note: many websites suggest re-installing GB using the "customize" button in the installer in order to include additional GB content. The system install disks do NOT provide a separate GB installer. That system installer does not have any such option. There are only checkboxes to include/not include the various applications in the iLife 11 suite.
And to summarize : the solution was to uninstall GB11, reinstall Logic with the "Include GB 09 content" checkbox checked, and then reinstall GB11 from the system install disks that come with the MacBook Pro.

Missing pop horns

Hi,
I just bought mainstage 2 from the app store via download. I'm having a problem with the 'pop horns' folder. If I choose one, it sounds like a sine wave, and then the 'pop horns' folder disappears altogether.
This problem has been noted before at https://discussions.apple.com/message/6395493#6395493, but they suggest scanning the install disks with a program called 'Pacifist' for the missing components. Unfortunately, since I bought mainstage from the app store, there are no disks, so that won't work.
Any suggestions?

Loading the rest of the content helped a lot. I got a couple of funky horn patches to come up just fine!
I still have a problem with the 'studio horns' patch. When I load it, I get the error:
EXS24 instrument “Horn Section.exs”:
Audio file “YT-BRASS TTS FA G3X01.aif” not found!
And the patch does not work.
I don't know if everyone has this problem or just me.

No Pop Trumpets or Studio Horns

Logic 8 is working great -- except that software instruments Pop Trumpets and Studio Horns in the 07 Pop Horns folder don't seem to be working -- they sound more like an electric piano. The other instruments in that folder (Soprano Sax, Funk Horn Section, etc.) sound as they should, and various other brass patches work. I'd suspect that some resource failed to install or became corrupted when I upgraded from Logic Pro 7 to version 8, but I installed Logic 8 on two different Macs, and I've got the same problem with both installations. Anybody else have this issue?

You have missing samples, it's a common thing caused by the Logic 8 installer. Search through the forum for threads, because there are at least 20 or 30 threads on the issue, the causes, and how to fix it.
In short, you will need to reinstall some content...

Missing Instruments (horn section, trumpet section)

I've just installed Jam Pack 1. JP 2,3,4 are also installed. Now I've indexed my loop browser and all seems smooth. But there is a problem. I took 'Havana Horns' and 'Havana Trumpets' from my loop browser and put them on tow different AU-tracks. The channel strip settings load, but I hear a bleep instead of horns/trumpets. Now the plugin says 'trumpet section' or 'horn section' missing. I even don't find them in my Garageband menu in the EXS. I've reinstalled it, repaired my disk permissions, re-indexed my loopbrowser etc., but still missing. Anyone an idea what's going wrong? How to find them, or how to reinstall them?

The reason I ask the above question, is that, in general, it would be
ideal if I could take solo trumpet samples, such as in this example,
and also use them to construct two trumpets playing in unison,
or three trumpets playing in unison. And, make it sound as close
to "professional" as possible.
In this way, similar techniques can be used for the French Horns and
the trombones.
The upshot being that I would not need to use settings which say,
"Trumpets" or "Horns" or "Trombones", because at this stage,
given my limited resources, I do not necessarily know how many
trumpets are actually playing a given line (for instance, I have
SAM free trumpets and I have Pro Sessions Brass, and they do not
specify how many instruments are playing a given note, and sometimes
it appears that the number of instruments playing gets quite large
when the dynamic for the SAM free trumpets is increased).
And, I do want to know exactly how many brass instruments are playing
and control this, so that when I form chords using a mixture of
brass instruments, with some brass instruments doubling the same
note, that the effect mimics reality as far as chord balance goes. In this,
tool, Logic Pro, and a sufficient set of solo brass samples, could
be used as a neat learning tool (such as making sure that in forte,
two French Horns double a note when the other notes are taken singly
by Trombones and Trumpets, and the like). Although, there are other
concerns with forming brass chords, so Logic Pro potentially becomes
a neat test bed for more unusual set-ups and configurations of complex
brass chords.
Also, of course, I'd like a solo brass instrument to sound more realistic
and "not in your face".

Disc too slow flag????

2.8 Ghz I mac:   i7, 8 Gig memory,. I have been having a problem with my Logic program. I have very CPU intensive software programs (drum, sampler, editor software) and record many audio tracks. My logic program constantly stops, freezes or crashes when I am recording audio. I can see on my CPU meter that certain cores are overloading and that the HD bar fills up before the crash and the inevitable "System Overload" - message, indicating that there is a data bottleneck. I have done many things in the program and in my software and in Logic to minimize the problem, following the instructions from Logic support. Please take a look at this link. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3834. The problem is still there. I know I have a powerful i mac with a fast processor and lots of memory. I think some of the expensive CPU intensive 3rd party software that I recently purchased from Native Instruments (Studio Drummer, Studio Horns, Melodyne) has helped create this problem. I would so much like to eliminate it and I know that thereare studios which run this software successfully in their Logic programs. I record Audio to my internal" WD1001FALS-40U9B0 Media 1 TB HD. The only thing I haven't tried is using a dedicated HD (maybe a firewire SSD?). This solution/suggestion is listed here:
If your projects typically involve many audio tracks, consider a dedicated hard drive for audio. If your computer supports multiple internal drives, then an additional internal 7200 RPM drive would be a good choice. If your computer does not have space for an extra drive, then a FireWire drive may be a good option. I don't quite understand the above. Does my i Mac support multiple internal drives? If so, would purchasing an additional 7200 RPM or a SSD HD solve my problem? Could I use it in addition to the drive now installed? If not would it be advantageous to buy a fast external SSD Firewire drive and run my Logic program on that? Willing to spend some bucks to solve the problem. Want a trouble free "running" Logic program that doesn't freeze, crash and/or stop.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks again for getting back. Yeah. I wish I had stuck with Snow Leopard. Now I've finally got all my 3rd party stuff running on mountainlion....thinking that if it's an "update" than it will be an improvement to my system. Haven't found that to be th case.   So many things with ML run "worse" than before. I fear Logic is also one of them. Maybe they'll do some tweaks and get ML fixed. Would hate to have to reinstall all the stuff I upgraded to ML (printer, Audio Interface, etc. It's frustrating to have tons of great plug ins available for my mix and then not be able to use them due to CPU failure which keep me from doing a bounce without crashing. I'll have to fool around with bussing everything possible and mixing down audio tracks. Yeah the freezing, as you say is a double edged sword. Too much is also CPU intensive. internal disk out (description above) and replacing it with a Solid state drive would give me a super fast HD. Not sure however, if this would solve my issues with Logic. Haven't been able to find anyone on the forums who considered or tried this solution. It's not a cheap solution. Those things are expensive. I'd do it if I thought it would work but I'm not sure. Visual Studio 2015 CTP - Javascript support missing

I had Visual Studio 2015 CTP 4 installed and now CTP6 - In both cases it was missing Javascript support.
- Not showing syntax highlighting for .js file
- Intellisense not working for .js files
Also when i go to tools/options/Text Editor - Javascript language section is missing. See image and its comparison with VS2013.

Wont let me open final cut studio-missing hardware

when i try to open final cut studio a message comes up saying missing hardware 512mb ram, but i have this on my computer.
do i need more ram?
what will make it work?
any help would be greatfully appreciated

Welcome to the forums.
Yes, you need more RAM. FCP needs MINIMUM 512 MB Ram, and your system right now is taking up half of what you have. 1.5GB is the min RAM I recommend for running FCP. 2.5GB to be comfortable...3.5GB to be stylin'.

Unless your iMac is still covered by AppleCare, get an external DVD burner.
You can get perfectly good ones from Amazon for less than $40.

Web Service Export Parameters missing when consumed by Visual Studio 2005

Hi,
I am using Visual Studio 2005 (2.0 framework) to consume bespoke SAP Web Services (SAP 4.7) however some of the export parameters are missing. I have tested the SAP web services with various XML tools and they all work perfectly.
Is there anything I can do to enable Visual Studio to genarate the correct proxy?

This isn't going to work as well as I had thought.
That is correct that the Name and Value fields come back as XmlNode arrays. Each XmlNode array contains two XmlNode objects (or one if you received a null value from the db). One object contains the atrributes and one contains the value. I had planned on going into the ColumnValueType Value field and pulling the text of the 2nd XmlNode object.
Now here is the problem:
For every column you select you get a ColumnValueType object. Rather than being contained in some type of "Row" parent object, each column sits in the root of your results. For example, in the query I am using I am asking for the AlertingName and DnOrPattern columns of the NumPlan table. My results come back like this (simplified):
AlertingName
John Doe
DnOrPattern
1234
With the data in this format, I can't just do a foreach loop and iterate over the ColumnValueType objects.

Visual Studio 2013 Pro - Winforms toolbox icons beside items are missing for some 3rd party vendors controls

I noticed last weekend after installing VS 2013.4 update that the Winforms toolbox, while showing all items, did not display the icons beside the items for any custom/third party Winform controls. The only icon
showing in the toolboxes are the Pointer icon. I can select and drop any control onto a project, and as soon as I move mouse into the design surface the icon shows. Neither the
builtin Winforms controls nor the WPF toolbox exhibit the same symptom. It is specific to Winforms third party controls (ActiPro and DevExpress). At first I thought it was due to the update, then I found that my laptop was
already exhibiting this symptom, running 2013.3 (I had not dropped any controls from the toolbox in the past few weeks so I did not notice).
The two machines (laptop and workstation) are running Windows 7 64-bit Professional and Ultimate, respectively. These machines are dedicated to development, and are secured, also running Norton Antivirus.
I also have VS 2010 and VS 2012 which don't exhibit the symptom, though I finally removed 2012 last night during my adventures. I had all three VS side by side, running well for months (I added VS 2013 in June). VS
2013 had been functioning well on a daily basis for the dozen or so Winforms projects and the odd WPF or MVC project.
I use DevExpress v2014 and ActiPro controls; I have been using them for years now.
I've spent 2 days trying remedies that include:
Resetting Toolbox
Removal of *.spd files in %APPDATA%, restarting VS
Uninstall Visual Studio, remove and delete of any Visual Studio remnant in the registry, Program Files(x86), %APPDATA% and %PROGRAMDATA%, reinstall.
Repeat step 3 with VS 2013.1 and .3
Downgraded .NET to 4.5.1 to match my third, correctly functioning computer (also running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate).
DevExpress has told me this isn't a problem they have seen. At first I agreed, since my ActiPro controls also are missing their icons, but then I noted that other vendor controls display fine. Not sure what else to do but to nuke the workstation and install
from OS up.

This appears to be a bug in Visual Studio 2013. VS 2010 and 2012 are on the same machine and do not exhibit

Why does Visual STudio 2012 References keep showing Exclamation mark (which means assembly is missing) even after I specify the exact path?

For one of the projects within the Visual Studio 2012 Web Application Solution, we need the System.Web.Mvc in the References.
I already have the following in the packages folder:
{blah...blah..Visual Studio Solution path..blah}\packages\Microsoft.AspNet.Mvc.5.1.1\lib\net45\System.Web.Mvc.dll
I keep adding it, but the References still shows the Exclamation mark ( which means missing) next to the System.Web.Mvc

Based on your issue, if you want to add the System.Web.Mvc reference for a web application in VS2012. As far as l know that the System.Web.Mvc dll is default be located like this path:" C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 4\Assemblies\System.Web.Mvc.dll.
So if you create the web app using c# language, I suggest you can right-click your Reference under the we application -> Add Reference->select the System.Web.Mvc in the Assemblies tab.
If the above suggestion still could not help you, I suggest you can consult this issue directly to the ASP.NET forum:http://forums.asp.net/ , maybe you will get better support.

21" Studio Display geometry is missing

So, I just hooked up a new 21" Studio Display (CRT) to replace my old one and when I go to Preferences>Displays the geometry is missing. Only Display and Color are the choices. It was there before when the old monitor (the same type, a 21" Studio Display) was hooked up. What could have happened to the preferences just by attaching a new monitor?
I tried reinstalling the display software (which I still have from when I bought the original monitor) and installing the software Apple Displays 1.7.1, but it won't install on System X (10.3.9) Anyone have a suggestion?

Have you tried restarting with the display connected?
I suspect the problem is probably the Display, which given its age, probably isn't worth spending too much money on.. Maybe you could get someone knowledgable about servicing to try to make one working display out of these two non-working ones.

Final Cut missing from Studio 5 installation

It took over an hour to install Final Cut Studio (purchased 5 academic licenses) and lots of disk shuffling. At the end of it all, the Final Cut application itself is missing. Or is it me that is missing? Something?

quite possibly. I would think if it's greyed out the app that checks your system to see that it can be installed is saying no it can't. However if it allowed "motion" to be installed it might not be the gfx card but a ram or other issue. Motion does its work via the gfx card as do the fxplug plugins in FCP Studio. since you bought so many licenses I'd call apple and try to resolve the issue. It's gonna cost you something above that which you budgeted however it's a great set of tools

hi folks...you're be suprise i've dunn possibly EVERYthing to ressurect the missing contents of EXS24 and other sounds thats has been gone due to installation of Logic Studio...Now for those who transfer there LP7 to the LS8 songs sumtym get no strings and blah blah blah...to limit this down for you...
heres wat to do...
go on to garageband...
create new song and click the plus button to add a new software instrument and you'll get a panel on the rightside of the GB screen with ur desired instruments you'd like to use for to create music...now go on to strings...and you'll see the highlighted outcasted string such as hollywood string and others...double click on it and it'll ask to install GB componant/jam packs and click accept and follow instructions...as its all done and dusted you got all ur preset sounds on ur new logic and everything that wasn't working from LP7 to LS8 is now sorted...and works fully like LP7...lol
and i half expected that it wudn't work i'm now literally over the moon i can continue doing my mixtape...:D

wt i wasn't clear enough is to make sure you have garageband '08 and not garageband 3 or oldies...i figure dthis out wen i did the same on my macbook coz i originally done this on my imac...and figured out the software versions wer different in order to get these missing components...make sure you have Garageband '08 in order to get the missing samplers on ur logic..i've hoped i've helped you out...:) enjoy.

Prior to going to Win7, I was developing on a Win-XP machine. I used to delete the generated code and have VS generate it again, but no luck. I get errors in the Build, similar to what shows in the Message Assignment shape in the orc. It's complaining about
a missing part of a Multi-part message. Oh, and the Multi-part message is a schema created in VS2005/BizTalk2006 R2, which was created on a separate Win-XP machine.
Just wondering if anyone has come up with a fix to this? The previously documented entry did not seem to have a solution.

Do you see your_orchestration.odx.cs ?
If you do Can you try as following:
1. Take backup of whole solution
2. Delete all .cs files associated with biztalk artifacts, like odx.cs, xsd.cs, btm.cs
3. Open orchestration and in any one of the expression shape copy all statements.
4. Click OK to close the Expression window.
5. Build the solution. (you should get errors)
6. Goto expression and paste code.
7. Build
This has worked for me in past. May be it will work for you too.
