Missing summary tab

having updated itunes i have lost the summary page for both my classic and shuffle. Devices are recognised and all music / content folders are being listed but without the summary tab i can't turn shuffle off auto-sync or restore device settings.
Any ideas why this could be happening or how to fix it?

Sounds liek the install/update failed... I would suggest remvoing iTunes and reinstalling fresh..

ITunes Summary Tab missing Phone Number info

I know that when I connect my iPhone 3G with iTunes, at the "summary" tab, right after name, capacity, sw/build versions and serial number/udid; there has to be another line where it shows my phone number, but I am missing that for some reason. Is there a way to turn it on? Thanks

Is your phone number entered at Settings > Phone > My Number?

Summary Tab missing

I just installed iTunes 7.0.2.16 on my machine that is running Windows 2000 sp4.
When I select my iPod device (the new iPod shuffle), the only 2 tabs that show are "Settings" and "Contents". None of the other tabs are displaying, including the "Summary" page, which I need in order to manually add files to my iPod.
Has anybody seen this yet and know how to fix it? I've already uninstalled and re-installed iTunes and this does not fix the problem.
As far as I can tell, I'm experiencing no other issues...I'm able to load my iPod successfully using AutoFill or drag & dropping individual songs.

So there really is no Summary tab for the shuffle? I've been reading the on-line instruction manual for the shuffle over and over. (and watching the instruction video) The instructions tell us that the Summary Tab should appear when you select the device.

Summary Tab, most content missing

I'd been using my Apple TV for months, with few issues. During the last few months, I upgraded the ATV software and also the latest version of iTunes. Can't recall the exact order, but at some point I started to experience the sync hanging that others have described. Endless spinning sync wheel next to the ATV device in iTunes. I reinstalled iTunes (which also caused me grief, as I ended up with a completely double library, and I had to go remove all the duplicates). But worst of all, my ATV Summary tab now has on it only: the little icon image of the ATV, Name, Capacity 32.84 GB, Software Version 2.3.1, and Serial Number. Nothing else. No way to see what's on the ATV, no way to sync anything (either Auto or Manual), just blank white screen.
The ATV is now stuck in Streaming mode, and I can manually connect and listen to music, or manually show photos (but can't use photos for slideshows by default).
Any ideas? I've been scouring the discussions and can't find that anyone has reported this.

as you have correctly noted - your itunes is set up a secondary (streaming only) library with appletv, and as such you only have 2 tabs.
you will need to break the link and connect to itunes again, this time connecting as a primary library, this will give you all the tabs and give you sync options.

User defined field values doesnot show up in summary tab

I have created my own stylesheet to display some of my user defined field values (associated with organization address book entry type) in the summary tab of the addressbook entry. But Groupwise 8.0 client FAILS to display any of the user defined field values in the summary tab FOR ONLY ORGANIZATION ADDRESSBOOK ENTRY types. NOTE: These organization addressbook entries are created using the C++ Groupwise object API. But the Advanced tab of these organization addressbook entry shows those user defined fields with values in it.
Also Groupwise 8.0 Client is able to display the user defined field values in the summary tab for the PERSON ADDRESSBOOK ENTRY types, that are created using the Groupwise Object API. Also when I create a Organization addressbook entry using the Groupwise Client (NEW ORGANIZATION) and fill in the user defined field values using the Advanced tab or that addressbook entry, the summary tab displays those user defined field values.
So there could be some problem in setting the user defined field value for the Organization address book entry using the Object API or it could be Groupwise 8.0 Client issue in displaying the user defined field values ONLY FOR ORGANIZATION ADDRESS BOOK ENTRY, WHICH ARE CREATED USING THE OBJECT API. I also tried to see the underlying XML data in the summary tab and that XML data is missing the USERDEFINEDFIELDS and CATEGORIES tag for the organization address book entry.
I would like to know, if there is any need for special handling only for Organization addressbook entry in Groupwise 8.0 API. Any thoughts or help is really appreciated.

Does anyone have an idea?? Think I have the same issue. Except, when I log in the client (ver. 802) then all the info is displayed. But when the user logs in on the same client and the same pc, he sees the xml info except the office address.

Missing Applications Tab

When I log on to iTunes, I am missing the tab for APPLICATIONS. I only have the following tabs: Summary, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Photos, Info. How do I add the APPLICATIONS tab so I can then transfer the games I've purchased in my library to my ipod touch?

One thing that might help out.
Along with neuroanatomist's post asking sure that you are running os 2.0.
Are you running windows 2000 as it shows in your profile at the bottom of your post?
If so, the minimum system requirements for ipod touch and iphone are win xp sp2 or vista.

I have been getting this error message since about the end of June when I updated to the latest version of iTunes. It's pretty annoying. Let me lay out how this has been happening for the past month, the best I can. I have a 32GB 4th gen iPod Touch
I load content up to my iPod. Music, Apps, Videos, pictures, etc.
My iPod works well for a little while, days sometimes a week is the longest I went without seeing this message.
I connect iPod back to my laptop through the standard pack in Apple USB connector.
I get the "Itunes cannot read the contents of ipod. Go to the summary tab in Ipod preferences and click Restore to restore this ipod to factory settings." message. When I go to the preferences tab, I click restore and iTunes gets stuck trying to restore my iPod. Then I have to uplug my iPod. And Shutdown/Restart my PC reconnect my iPod, and go through the restore process again.
I have been doing this for as I said, a month. It's getting pretty grueling to keep havomh putting cotent on my iPod after these restores.
I've tried everything.
I've stopped autosync, it still happens.
I tried to reinstall iTunes(be it I didn't full uninstall before trying to install again and got the option to fix corrupted files and such
I've deleted all old back up, and it still happens
Today is the fist time I'm fully uninstalling iTunes, and then reinstalling to see if this works.
But do you guys have any otehr solutions for this? As I said, this didn't start happening until I installed the lastest version of iTunes 10.6.3

- Have you tried another cable?
- Another USB port?
- When you have the problem, connect it to another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.
- Try just restoring the iPod to factory settings/new iPod. Do not restore from backup. If you still have the problem with this and all computer that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Under summary tab with device attached, text overlaps in window. How can I fix this?

After launching itunes and I attach iphone4 via usb I select my device under the library. I select the summary tab at top of window and the blocks of info and options overlap each other. I can't select any otions. Cant expand blocks either. Uninstalled and reinstalled itunes windows 64bit twice but it still does it. contacted Apple Care but they are clueless. Can anyone help?

I think that would have to be a setting in Chrome. That should control how new pages linked from other applications are treated.

ITunes on my iPod Touch is missing some tabs

+ Wi-fi connection
+ iOS5 installed
iTunes on my iPod Touch is missing some tabs. The only tabs that's showing on my iTunes are Podcast, iTunes U, Search and Downloads
Also, whenever I try to load un Podcast tab, it ALWAYS say Your request could not be completed.

Where exactly are the tabs that are showing, are they a list at the bottom of the page and next to it is the "More" option, or are you referring to the options on the More tab? You can move these options between the bottom of the page and the More section.
Is that the problem, or is there something else missing? (Perhaps it would have helped if you had mentioned what is missing). If it's the Apps section you are looking for, it has its own App button on the Home screen.
As for the problem with downloading Podcasts, I would try getting them in iTunes on your computer if you cannot download them via the Touch's Wi-Fi.

IPod Nano appears on my list of iTunes devices. Summary tab shows 928 manually managed songs; music tab however shows nothing. Where did the songs go?

I recently undated software all around, reloaded windows 8 and upgraded to windows 8.1. My iPod Nano (1.0.4) appears on my list of iTunes (11.1.3) devices. The summary tab for my iPod shows 928 manually managed songs (2 of 8 GBs still empty). However, when I click on the music tab immediately to the right of the summary tab, iTunes no longer shows my songs, playlists or audio books. Instead iTunes invites me to "sync" my iPod and kiss my contents goodbye. Why won't the songs appear in iTunes anymore? My iPod still plays the songs and they appear on the tiny iPod screen. iTunes however won't show them. iTunes still allows me to drag and drop new music and books into my iPod but iTunes won't let me see the particulars. I want to delete some audio books I've finished but iTunes won't let me to them. What gives?

The option to sync wirelessly is not showing up on the summary tab

The option to sync wirelessly is not showing up on the summary tab when iphone is connected. Does anyone know why?

I want it to adjust all sizes like it used too without having to pull each individual corner to have a flat perspective.

I just recieved a new iPod and I cannot remember what the summary tab is. If anyone knows, that would be a great help.

It's the first of the iPod preference tabs. From there you can update the iPod's software, restore it to factory settings, change it's sync method to manual, enable it to sync selected items and enable the iPod for disk use. It also displays some information about the iPod such as it's name, capacity, software version etc. You can see an illustration of it here: iPod Summary Tab
To access the Summary tab connect your iPod to your computer. When it appears in iTunes click on it's icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main window pane.
