Missing System Fonts or CMap Files after reinstallation.

I just had to download and reinstall my CS 2 due to the disabling of the activation server. After installation, I get an error message of, "Adobe InDesign is missing required system fonys or CMap files. Please reinstall." I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 6 times in the last 4 days. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Thanks.

  • ID CS2 Mac system fonts and CMap files missing

I have ID CS2 for Mac. I recently had some trouble uninstalling a trial version of After Effects CS3, so I used a script provided by Adobe that is for removing troublesome files and apps. Now, when I try to start InDesign CS2, I get an error message almost immediately that says "Adobe InDesign is missing required system fonts or CMap files. Please reinstall InDesign." Does anyone know what fonts and CMap files are needed by ID, and where they should go (in which directories/folders)? I don't want to have to reinstall the entire program. All the other CS2 apps work fine and I don't want to upset the apple cart (pardon the pun). I haven't trashed any of the files that the script uninstalled...they are in a folder on my desktop, so I can just put back what ID needs, as long as I know where they go.
    Thank you!

By running the script it removed all Adobe-installed stuff. This included removing the "Reqd" folder in this path: Library > Application Support > Adobe > Fonts. InDesign CS2 expects that folder to be there. You could copy the folder from another computer, or do a reinstall on InDesign

  • Missing required systems fonts or cmap files

    Good morning,
We have a serious problem with Adobe Suite (including InDesign 6).
When we launch In Desing we have an error message :"Missing required systems fonts or cmap files".
    Can you help us ?
PS : We use windows 7 X64 with Adobe In design6.

    This thread might help: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/328866?start=0&tstart=0
But it could also be an installation problem or a permissions problem. Does you user account have full access to the lacation where those files should be stored?

  • Missing Required System Fonts or CMap Files

Somehow an entire "Adobe" folder got moved to my trash accidentally. I'm now getting an error when I try to open Adobe InDesign CS5 saying "missing required system fonts or CMap files" and it shuts down on me. I'm ASSUMING it's because that folder is in the trash. However, I don't know WHERE it should go. Attached is a screen shot of that folder and it's contents. Should it be in Application Support? Adobe InDesign? I have tried to uninstall InDesign and reinstall, but I click Uninstall and it says the associated shortcut cannot be located. Grrrrr....
    Thanks for any help.

There's an Adobe Tech Note about that:

  • [Perm] InDesign missing necessary fonts or CMAP files.

    Hi there...
I searched and found a thread on this before but I still haven't been able to solve my problem.
I performed a clean install of Jagaur on my system. G3 iMac DV SE 500 Mhz (Snow) and it has 768 MB RAM.
I then installed InDesign 2.0 from the CD and it installs fine. When I launch InDesign I get the error that "Missing Required Fonts or CMAP file. Please reinstall InDesign" -- I've reinstalled about 50 times with the same result.
    I've tried the following:
    - Deleting all instances of Adobefnt.lst
    - Deleting all InDesign support files from the root>library>application support>adobe folder and the user>username>library>preferences folder.
I'm at my wits end. InDesign performs flawlessly on my Titanium Powerbook G4, also running Jaguar.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

    I FOUND IT!!!
For some odd reason, the Application Support in my user>username directory was locked and owned by the system -- therefore, the ID installer couldn't put the files there (the files WERE in the root>library>application support folder but I guess that wasn't good enough. Anyway, I reset the owner of the folder to myself (admin) and then manually copied the fonts and cmap files there and it launched!!!
    YAY!!!!!
Thanks to everyone who helped both physically and mentally...

  • How can I reinstall missing system fonts?

I used FontXplorer X Pro to organize my fonts sometime back. I just updated it to 9.2.2 and found in the ReadMe file that the update was correcting the fact that 9.2.1 deleted some of the system fonts. How can I restore the missing fonts?
I'm thinking of uninstalling FontXplorer and then reinstalling it and starting fresh with a new setup. But I still need missing system fonts. Safari is asking for ZapfDingBatsITC; activating the ZapfDingBats I have doesn't work.
I have the install disk for OS X Snow Leopard. There is no install disk for Mavericks since it was a download only (I believe this since I can't find the DVD). Would I be able to pull system fonts from the Snow Leopard disk? I looked the Snow Leopard disk contents but don't dare to try anything.
    Thanks in advance.
    Bonnie

Do a backup. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors.  Then re-install the OS.

  • Missing system font for template

I was trying to load a template (Info, Checkbox), but am getting the error message that this project uses a missing system font: applemyungjo regular. Anyone know where I can get this font?

I'm not sure why LT thinks it needs this Korean font, but it now has what it wants. When I did my erase and install of Leopard, I did not include the optional foreign fonts. I reinstalled the fonts from the install disk for the computer (without having to touch Leopard installation) and it works now.

  • "Damaged" fonts in pdf file after using TouchUp Text Tool

    Hello,
I have a question regarding an issue with lost fonts in a pdf file.
The document was created in Adobe InDesign and printed to pdf.
However, after using the "TouchUp Text Tool" in order to check the font for a certain text, several attributes of the font have been damaged in the entire pdf: all characters in "small caps" have been transformed to regular.
We've had 3 cases so far.
Does anyone know how we can prevent this from happening again?
When exporting the document to pdf, all fonts were embedded, I am not sure if this can be the cause.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
    Paula

We are using Adobe 8 Professional.
Bill@VT, I am not sure what you are asking me
I have checked the Preferences for the pdf file and the "Use system fonts" case is checked.
When opening the pdf file, the fonts were ok, but somewhere along the process, the small caps were lost.
Maybe a print screen will be of use: the presentation above is the correct presentation (the one immediately after exporting to pdf); the presentation below is the one after all fonts were damaged.

  • Missing system font?

    Hello,
    please have a look at
    screenshot.png.
The font in the property boxes (I don't know the exact name
of these elements) in DW 2004 is pixelized.
How could this happen? Which system font uses DW?
    Greetings, Carlos

You can compare the fonts you still have to this list:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301332
If any of the critical system fonts are missing, you should be able to use something like "pacifist" to extract the missing fonts from your OSX install disks and replace them. Font problems can cause all manner of strange behavour.

  • How do I restore missing system fonts?

I recently installed a couple font managment tools and ever since I have noticed that I don't have the full list of default system fonts. Below is a screenshot of what I have. I notice that there are a lot of missing fonts that should be there such as Georgia, Trebuchet, Verdana and many more. Is there a way to reinstall them or restore them? I tried the restore Standard Fonts option in Font Book but says no problems encountered. I also downloaded a program called Pacifist but don't know what to do next.

Oh, boy! You are flirting with danger playing around with fonts. Which font managers have you used? Extensis Suitcase is a good one because you can use different font sets and keep the system fonts separate, but one corrupt font can turn your Mac into a black box.
It is wise to only install fonts you intend to use and not huge amounts of unnecessary fonts.
Here is a tutorial on wise font management in OSX. Well worth the read. It is a PDF so you can download it and keep it:

  • System fonts became so big after latest virtualbox update

I'm running Arch Linux 64 as a guest on a Windows 7 host, with Virtualbox 4.3.28. After upgrade from May 19, systems fonts suddenly became so big (at least tripled). I am a newbie here, don't know how to attach a screen shot.
I've narrowed down to these 2 package upgrades:
    community/virtualbox-guest-modules 4.3.26-7 -> 4.3.28-1
    community/virtualbox-guest-utils   4.3.26-3 -> 4.3.28-1
If I skip these 2 package upgrades, and all other packages upgraded to the latest (including Linux to 4.0.4), the fonts are normal.

This problem seems a little complicated. It is related to screen resolution but strangely. On W7
    1) if I shrink the screen resolution smaller, say 1024x768, and stay with this small screen, the fonts are normal everywhere.
    2) When boot up the VM, I cannot use a large resolution like 1920x1200 (as my VM was running under before the recent virtualbox packages upgrade). Otherwise, all fonts become so huge. So I detoured this out by booting in small resolution.
    3) After booting up in small resolution, if I increase the resolution, say back to 1920x1200, the fonts on the console (my case terminator) stay fine. However, when I start applications like Sublime Text, Claws mail, the fonts on those applications' menu bar become so huge. The fonts inside Sublime Text are normal. But the fonts inside Claws mail are huge too.
    4) After booting up in small resolution, if first start up the applications, then increase the resolution, say back to 1920x1200, all fonts are fine everywhere.

  • Missing system fonts

Muse can't see the system fonts. So when i try to add self hosted font that i have, it says: "Muse could not find the matching system font. If installed, match manually". So I click on the match button, but its blanc. Any idea how to fix this?

Which operating system (version of Windows or Mac OSX) are you using? Are you also using any font managing utilities, such as Extensis Suitcase Fusion or Bitstream Font Navigator? If so, make sure those applications are updated to their latest version.
The latest versions of Windows (Win 7, 8 & 8.1) can be a real pain when it comes to font management. It's common for the OS to refuse to uninstall certain typefaces. Either a dialog box pops up saying the font is in use or Windows' font manager just plain doesn't delete the file. I end up having to hack the registry, deleting the font entries from two different portions of the registry (32-bit and 64-bit folders) and then re-starting the computer. It just plain sucks. There really is no excuse at all for Microsoft to have allowed this problem to persist for years. Hopefully they'll fix it with Windows 10, but who knows?
Speaking of the registry, if you are using Windows make sure the fonts Muse can't see are listed properly in the Windows registry.
As a troubleshooting step, make sure the system fonts you're using have no problems with them. Some web font packages will include TrueType font files that really are not appropriate to install as desktop computer system fonts. MyFonts sells fonts packages like this (the TTF files often won't even preview on a PC when select, instead delivering an error message) . You have to buy & install the specific desktop versions of a typeface for use on a personal computer and then download web fonts kits for web font use. Postscript Type 1 fonts that have been converted from Mac to PC or vice versa can sometimes have technical problems.

  • Indesign CS6 crashed, can't be started again (missing required fonts, cmap files). Reinstalled -- doesnt work. help?

    hi,
my indesign CS6 worked perfectly until yesterday afternoon, when it suddenly crashed and wont open again. all it says is "There are required system fonts or cmap files missing. reinstall indesign". Did that, with the cc cleaner, but that doesnt work!
working on windows 7, sp1 -- never had any problems.
all i can find in other forums is about the cs2, which is fairly outdated. why does this happen?! all my other programs from the master collection work fine!

ok, after a quite frustrating weekend the problem seems to have solved itself. what i did (for future requests):
    - downloaded cs6 master collection (since i had my cds not with me)
    - deinstalled old install
    - wiped the system with the adobe cc cleaner tool to get everything off
    - restart
    - install cs6
    - same error. no chance of doing anything.
i then installed a trial version on another computer to at least render my pdf. i then tried something new: i put the cmap & fonts (in C:/Programs/Common Files/Adobe/PDFL) from the working pc on a usb drive. when i "backed up" my PDFL Folder on my main pc into a zip (just in case), i gave indesign another try. it then started up -- since it was the first time a bit slower than usual, but it's back on track.
