Missing templates in Dreamweaver CC

I am in classes for Web Page Design, which comes with the Dreamweaver software. I have not received the software from my school yet, so I began using the Adobe Creative Cloud. My problem is, in Dreamweaver CC, I am missing a template I need. I need the 2 column fixed, left sidebar template that does not show up in my template list.
How can I get the Dreamweaver templates into Dreamweaver CC?

When you go through the document you will see <header> and <footer>. Remove the whole element between the opening and the closing tags as in
<header>
  <a href="#"><img src="" alt="Insert Logo Here" width="180" height="90" id="Insert_logo" style="background-color: #C6D580; display:block;" /></a>
</header>
and
<footer>
  <p>This footer contains the declaration position:relative; to give Internet Explorer 6 hasLayout for the footer and cause it to clear correctly. If you're not required to support IE6, you may remove it.</p>
  <address>
    Address Content
  </address>
</footer>
After having done that, view the result in a browser and you will notice that you have lost the background colour of the article classed as content. To fix that, add a background to content (near line 67) as in
.content {
    padding: 10px 0;
    width: 780px;
    float: right;
    background: #FFFFFF;

  • CSS Template in Dreamweaver, cannot make flash(swf) show ???

    Hi all,
    I'm quite new at using dreamweaver, have been using GoLive
    some before and I have got a time consuming problem:
    To try to get a hang of CSS page designs I've used the Page
    Design (CSS) Halo Right nav that comes with DW8.
    I've learnt pretty much how it works BUT, I cannot make a
    flash file visible when inserted to the page design ????
    It does not show if I insert it to an existing div tag or if
    I insert it in a new layer. What am I doing wrong ?
    (same goes for images)
    Need help quickly.
    Thanks!

    This is one of the several weird problems with the HALO
    layout.

  • How Do I Import A Photoshop CS4 Template into Dreamweaver CS4

    Ok. Here's the deal, my friend and I spent alot of time working in Photoshop to come up with a nice template. He's even done all the coding to animate the buttons for standard, hover over, and click and all that. It's really cool, the buttons slide back and "lock" into place dependent upon which page you're on. However, I want to take all of that information and plug it into my website without loosing the button functionality. Unfortunately, every time I try to put the photoshop web template into Dreamweaver, it always converts it into an image. So, how do I add my complete photoshop web template and all it's functionality into Dreamweaver?

    I'm afraid Photoshop is a graphics program ill suited for generating good HTML and CSS code.  Use Photoshop to create your images only. Use DW to build your HTML, CSS and menus.
    Have a look at this tutorial:

  • Problems when Creating Pages from Templates in Dreamweaver 8

    When creating new pages from templates in Dreamweaver 8(Ver
    8.0.2). The full path for images is not created
    i.e. in template the code is <img src="main_page_logo.png"
    width="814" height="172" longdesc="Main Page Logo" />
    In the new file the code should be :-
    <img src="../../Templates/main_page_logo.png" width="814"
    height="172" longdesc="Main Page Logo" />
    but only :-
    <img src="main_page_logo.png" width="814" height="172"
    longdesc="Main Page Logo" /> is in the code.
    but this does work in Version 8.0.
    Does anyone know of a setting or fix for this problem

    > Does anyone know of a setting or fix for this problem
    It was regarded as a bug in previous versions, and was fixed
    in the 8.0.2
    release. In normal circumstances, ALL links in a template
    file must be
    relative to the template document, not relative to where you
    intend to save
    the child pages. Thus, there would be no way to have a link
    in your
    template document like the first one you show, e.g.,
    <img src="whatever.png"....
    *unless* the file was actually in the Templates folder (a bad
    idea).
    In 8.0.2, you can set your PREFERENCES for the Templates
    category to NOT
    MANAGE relative links. Be aware that this may have unintended
    consequences
    for you - specifically regarding other relative links in your
    site.

  • Missing Component in Dreamweaver Trial Install?

    I was hoping someone could shed some light on an issue I am having with a Dreamweaver trial I am evaluating.  I downloaded and installed CS4 trial the other day with no issues.  Then my computer crashed and windows automatically did a restore.  When my computer came back up, Dreamweaver was not there as I probably had not rebooted since I was initially trying it.  Now, I download the trial again and get some sort of "missing component" and Dreamweaver doesnt install fully and therefore doesnt work.  Thoughts?

    Unless the uninstall option appears in the installed programs list, you may possibly have to delete the program manually, run the cs4 clean-up script then reinstall Dreamweaver, as your reg entries etc will be corrupted for the installation.

  • PLEASE HELP - Problem with 2 column fixed template in Dreamweaver CS3

    I am trying to create a website using the 2 column fixed, right sidebar, header and footer html template in Dreamweaver CS3.  I tried putting a picture in the right side bar as well as with in the main content or left portion of the page, and neither picture is showing up when I view it in any of the browsers I'm using.
    I've made some minor changes in colors and sizing, but other than that no other changes.  The pic I put in for the header is showing up just fine though.
    Any help or advice to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!!

    Here is the base Dreamweaver code including the pic references that I'm trying to show on either side - when the browser opens, it only shows a blank space where the pics should be... let me know what you think.  Thanks!!

  • Blog Starter Template in Dreamweaver CC

    I am doing a favor for a co-worker. I am building her a website from scratch for a blog she wants to start regarding Real Estate Law. She already purchased a domain with Gator, therefore where I upload this site is already established. I was going to build this site in Muse, however I discovered Muse does not have a Blog Widget. So I'm going to build this in Dreamweaver and I noticed a Starter Template for Blogs, though it looks more of a layout. Once I upload and design this site for her it is out of my hands, and I want to know she can update her blog on her own. Is this blog template in Dreamweaver going to enable her to do so? If not, please advise on how I would go about doing that, thanks.

    Many web hosts provide a one-button simple way of installing WordPress from your server's CPanel.  Honestly, I think that's what your friend is going to need; not a Dreamweaver site.
    Then find a free or commercial WP Theme with most of the functionality your friend's blog will require.  If you can't find a Theme that contains everything on her wish list, fear not b/c there are plenty of WP Plugins or Widgets to fill in the gaps. Both Themes and Plugins are installed via the WP Dashboard.

    Templates do no control page layout. They only control page
    content. If
    you have layout problems, it's not due to the template, it's

  • Creating DMP template in Dreamweaver

    Hi, I'm trying to set up a template in Dreamweaver to play on several DMP's. All the elements work on playback apart from the video. The same video works when I run it via the digital media designer but I don't like using that.
    Can anyone help

    The DMP browser can work with files of these types, but not with files of any other type:
    1)HTML
    2) TXT
    3) GIF
    4) JPEG
    5) PNG
    6) SWF (Flash 6 or Flash 7)
    You cannot install browser plug-ins or any other software on your DMP, whether to support additional file types or for any other purpose. No Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed.

  • Updating Templates in Dreamweaver with a Contribute managed site?

    My company sited up a site for one of our clients using Dreamweaver. We created templates with update sidebar, header and such if needed to. The client uses Contribute to manage the main content sections and create new pages.
    I have the site saved locally on my computer. Make the changes to the template which updates the all the pages linked to it but when I upload them it overwrites the content the clients has made.
    What is the best way update the templates in Dreamweaver without over-writing the main content parts of the the client had made with Contribute?

    Before you make any changes, perform a Get (down arrow icon in the Files menu) operation to download any client-updated files first. That way, your local files will be exact duplicates of what the client has placed on the server. After verifying you have the most recent versions, make your change and upload.

  • Missing Template Handler is missing in action.

    After a bit of struggle I found out how to input a missing
    template
    handler into our aged 4.5 Unix ColdFusion server. I was able
    to have it
    server up the custom 404error.htm file developed by our web
    department.
    And this worked, sort of.
    The problem was that this HTML file makes use of Apache
    <!-- include
    virtual...--> directives which, of course, ColdFusion does
    not understand.
    So, I say no problem, I've dealt with this already before and
    expanded
    on some existing code that reads the html file and replaces
    all these
    virtual includes with the contents of the included file using
    <cfile...>
    tags and reFind() functions. This version even uses a Custom
    Tag and
    recursion to handle virtual includes inside of virtually
    included files.
    And this works great!
    http://www.cdpr.ca.gov/errors/404error.cfm.
    But when I then went into the ColdFusion administrator and
    replaced the
    HTML file path
    '/rootDir/subDir/subDir/htdocs/errors/404error.htm'
    with the corresponding CFML path
    '/rootDir/subDir/subDir/htdocs/errors/404error.cfm' it stops
    working.
    ColdFusion starts to display the default ColdFusion 404 not
    found error
    rather then my specified Missing Template Handler.
    What's wrong here? Why can't I server up a CFM file from the
    exact same
    place I can serve up an, albeit incomplete, HTML file?

    Everything you have describe is true. The main point is that
    sometimes
    people do not want to and that there are reasons not to let
    IIS handle
    ColdFusion missing templates.
    To be as clear as possible, if you have set IIS to check for
    the
    existence of a cfm file and then throw either a default or
    custom HTTP
    404 error page this will overwrite anything that could of or
    would of
    been done with a ColdFusion missing template page.
    Sometimes this is a bad thing. For one example, there are
    techniques
    and development methodologies that build a 'template' or
    'response'
    completely in memory and a cfm file does not actually exist
    in this
    case. This is more advanced then many people work with but it
    is
    possible. In this case your having IIS check for the
    existence of a
    template would defeat the purpose. Another example is that a
    server
    wide missing template handler used by the ColdFusion server
    can be
    passed simple information about the error from ColdFusion,
    this does not
    happen with the IIS methodology.
    So the missing template handler exists for cases where for
    one reason or
    another somebody does not want to have IIS checking for the
    existence of
    a cfm template before handing off the request to the
    ColdFusion server.
    As with many things in life, it is all about choices and what
    works for
    one person may not work for another.
    A common difficulty with the missing template handler is that
    it does
    not necessarily live in the web server root. It has to live
    in the Jrun
    (aka Java) server web root which often is different then the
    web server
    root.
    I.E. A common configuration may be this.
    c:/inetpub/wwwroot <!-- web server root -->
    c:/jrun/servers/cfusion/cfusion-ear/cfusion-war <!-- Java
    server web
    root --->
    The latter is where the ColdFusion server wide missing
    template hander
    template file would have to live in this example
    configuration.
