Missing Text in Flash Player

Ive recently had an issue where every flash applications that has text is missing its text, or is somehow invisible. The video quality button in youtube videos has invisible text, and I cannot scroll around videos properly anymore because the button itself seems to cover up play button and the slider. In myspace music players, none of the text shows up. Ive tested this with many facebook appsas well, and an app such as FarmVille has text missing entirely. Checking stats on my band's facebook page, text is missing and eventhe graph itself is invisible, and this is extremely important that I see this information. This seems to be user specific on my computer because, when I log in as a guest, flash works properly. Ive tried to uninstall/reinstall numerous times to no avail. Is there a fix for this or a corrupted file? Thanks!
Im including a picture of what this look likes.

Hi Amotois, On the Flash forum there are not too many users of Mac and that is why you aren't getting a reply. I understand Flash Player, etc. but not Mac.
If you have a good understanding of the files and location of them in your Mac, I could possibly relate what you should
have installed regarding Flash Player. However, if you don't and I don't, then it would be like the blind leading the blind:-)
I also notice others on your thread that have Macs, so that would apply to them also. All I know about a Mac is that there is a library and a finder, so as you can see my knowledge is very limited.
Just thought I'd reply so you would understand why you are not getting a response. What I would suggest to anyone with
Flash Player issues with a Mac, to be sure to put that in your thread when you start one. That way anyone that would be able to help would see that. As it is, they don't know the thread is about Mac and probably pass over it. Just a FYI.
Thanks,

  • Text in Flash Player looks crap only on my computer

Hi there, i have a news section on my website (not yet live)
that has been designed in flash. The rest of the text on the site
is in HTML. The text in the flash section looks really bad on my
screen. Some of the text is thick and blurry and some is thin and
none of it looks like the HTML text (although it is all arial).
After some testing on both Mac and PC i have discovered it only
looks like this on my computer! Flash Player works fine on other
websites. Does anyone know if there are some local Flash Player
settings i can change or if there is anything else i am missing?
Obviously this is only a problem when i am showing my website
to someone on my computer (a possible scenario as i am a designer
    and it contains my portfolio).
My computer is a Mac Powerbook G4 1.67 GHz PowerPC 1GB DDR
    SDRAM
Browser is Safari and i have Flash Player 9 installed (i have
    tried uninstalling and reinstalling)
    Thanks

    Hi tu meke,
With Flash you can embed the fonts using the Property
Inspector. For example, select Arial and choose Embed and Auto
Fill. This will guarantee that the fonts look the same on all
systems, however it will add to the file size.
If you would prefer not to embed the fonts for some reason,
here is another thought. The difference that you are noticing may
be due to the Fonts Smoothing Style selected on your Macintosh.
Open System Preferences and select Appearance. At the bottom, you
can change the Font smoothing style. Try changing this setting and
    see if it helps.

  • Invisible Text in Flash Player on Financial Website

Just spent an hour on the phone with one of my financial sites on which I can no longer see some important text. They tried everything, none of which worked, and concluded it must be incompatibility of the adobe flash and Snow Leopard. It started right after installation of Snow Leopard. I've since learned that others have this problem too. Any suggestions on how to get this fixed? What can I do?

It's great that you've isolated the problem to the User account.
You can usually just drag a plist or sub-folder of preferences to your desktop and an application will replace the missing preference file automatically as needed. You can delete the files when the problem is fixed.
In your User folder which is often represented in a path as a ~ character there are several Flash related locations.
    ~/Library/Caches/Adobe/Flash Player
You can dump the cache to see if it's causing a problem.
    ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player
Here, there are several folders like #Security, #Shared Objects, etc. You can move these folders to the desktop and see if the problem goes away.
    ~/Library/Preferences/Flash 10 MRU
Move the file to the desktop.
If you move the folders to your desktop, you could put them back if desired.
If you remove all of these references from your machine and have to reinstall flash, that's a good thing, but not a usual occurrence for programs like this.
You might have other preference files that I don't have on my system, and I might have older files laying around in mine because they haven't been noticed as a problem. Typically these files are so small, that they don't matter to anyone.
Hope this helps. Preference files can be challenging to isolate.

  • Problem with displaying text in flash player

I have flash player 10.2.152.26 and opera 11.01  installed.
The problem is that text in flash is diplayed in an awful way like this:
    http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/6918/alljo.png
And when i choose "settings" the window appears, but it doesn't react when I click on it.
    Can anyone help, please?

    Thanks for answering
So you have IE8 and the hardware acceleration was able to be UNchecked and FP(Flash Player) is working properly with IE.
In IE flash works fine with any settings.
When I unchecked "Hardware acceleration" checbox in IE it also became unchecked in opera, but nothing changed in opera's behavior.
When you don't use the Aero it's displayed correctly but the settings do not work. What settings are you referring to?
It's about flash settings in Opera
    With aero: http://img443.imageshack.us/i/settingsh.png/
    Without aero: http://img816.imageshack.us/i/settingswoaero.png/
In both cases the settings dialog is displayed like in the screenshots above, but when I click on checkbox/tabs/'close' button in it nothing happens. I can't change any settings or close it (dialog disappers only after reloading page)
Just to sum up everything mentioned above:
    - In IE flash works fine regardless of any settings
    - In Opera text is displayed wrong when using windows aero, and without aero theme it's displayed correct
    - I didn't manage to make settings dialog work in Opera
    - When I change some flash settings in IE, they are also changed in Opera
Now Flash Player works thru the browser, do you have perhaps have an addon that is conflicting? What Anti-Virus do you have Installed? Any addons of that?
I have 7 extensions installed in Opera, I've disabled all of them, but nothing changed.
I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, disabling it also gives nothing.

  • Invisible Text in Flash Player Using Windows XP

I seem to have a problem with the Flash Player and invisible text. The Flash Player will load but there will be some buttons that are not labeled with text, so you don’t know what the buttons are, fill-in text boxes that have no text or text description, so you don’t know what to type in them, and drop-down lists that are blank, but there is supposed to be text to select from.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling FireFox, that did nothing; unistalled the Shockwave Flash Plug-in and reinstalled it, that did nothing; unistalled Flash and Shockwave standalone Players entirely, leaving only the Plug-in, nothing; uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Player standalone, nothing there either. I cannot seem to find a solution and every browser I have, the same problem occurs – invisible text.
I was reading on the Adobe Forum that there is this same issue sometimes with Mac and that the problem seems to be font incompatibility.
This happens with any browser I use – Firefox, Flock, PaleMoon, IE, Opera, Netscape.
My OS is Windows XP Home Edition
Main browser is FireFox version 3.6.17
Shockwave Flash Plug-in version is 10.3.183.7
I also have the Shockwave Player standalone version 11.6.1.629
Has anyone, using Windows, had this same problem? Is there any solution?
    Thanks for any advice.

Invisible text in Flash enabled web pages is a frustrating problem that is affecting Mac Users who play Farm Town (8.5+ million people on FaceBook) and probably many other games too.  See this forum as an example of the problem:  http://slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2531318
Before even reading this forum I did everything that appears here with no success and then everything listed in the referenced forum (above) with no success... but the following did fix the invisible text problem and I hope that it will help others too.
    1.  Drag the Font folder from the User directory to the trash  ie. ~/Library/Fonts.  (where ~ is = your User Account Name.)
Be careful; this is NOT the Font folder in the main library.
    2. Download Font Finagler v1.5 beta for Mac OS 6, and clean the font cashe files following the instructions for this free shareware app.
            http://homepage.mac.com/mdouma46/fontfinagler/
    3. Open the Font Book app which is a new app that is included with the Mac OS Snow Leopard (10.6). (Font Book is in the Applications folder.) Read the Help info for this app and then: Choose "All Fonts" in the left column and then choose "Select Duplicate Fonts" from the Edit menu. Disable or delete all duplicate fonts that this process identifies. After dealing with the duplicate fonts, select "All Fonts" again in the left column and choose "Validate Fonts" from the File Menu.  Deal with the results that it will display using the help file for guidance.  Interestingly, in my case there were no corrupt fonts in my Mac system, but the validation process identified more duplicate fonts that the previous step did not find. Again deal with the findings and disable or delete the duplicate fonts.
    4. Reboot your Mac and get on with using your Flash enabled web pages.  Duplicate fonts seems to be the problem that cause invisible text in Flash enabled web pages.
Hope this helps you... it worked for me.

  • Capture text in flash player streaming video

is there a program that would be able to capture the text in the steamaing flash player and store it as text file?
    thanks

I have the same problem. Its the same issue in Firefox and Chrome but it is fine in IE.
I've already uninstalled all flash aspects, disabled all plugins and removed / re-added firefox.
I get the blue text on certain flash objects and not others. For example. If I try and view the video on this page: http://www.lexus.co.uk/drum-roll/index.aspx
Both the second counter and the Google Ad that drops down is blue and almost unreadabel. But If I go to the YouTube site and watch the same video I dont get the blue. Weird!
    Anyone any ideas?

  • How to install missing plugins for flash player

Hi, First make sure you are using the Administrator Account. Download and SAVE to your Desktop this Flash Player Installer for Firefox:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
Close all browser windows, disable an app in the system tray that uses Flash, messenger services, Anti-Virus that runs in realtime.
RUN the Installer from your Desktop and then Reboot your computer.
Test here and if you see the animation and the version number, then Flash Player has been Installed correctly.

  • Problem with Arabic text with flash player 10 32bit under linux platforms

Arabic encoding characters do not show correct in the right form at all linux distributions .
note: with windows platforms, it shows arabic characters correctly.
this video contains captions and subtitles, in the attachement two snapshots,
First, show the arabic sentences in the right form with "swfdec mozilla" plugins.
The other, show the arabic words with "adobe flash player 32bit" plugins,
for example: Arabic font enconding cp-1256
    the character ب
in the beginning of the word " بـ ".
in the middle " ـبـ "
    at the end "ـب"
isolated character "not in word "ب"
    the word
      كتب in the right form
begin from right with " كـ "
    with adobe flash player
    ب ت ك
it shows from left to right and use only isolated characters.
I report to adobe and they response
    Hi Ghost,
Since you do not have a 64 bit machine please proceed to reinstall the
    32 bit edition.
For the current release version of Flash player 10, it does support
Right to left, But you can’t use a text field on stage and have it
work. When authoring the content in Flash cs4, you would have to use
the Flash text engine. more information on that can be found here:

I too am having this problem. On all of my linux distributions, including Ubuntu 8.04, 8.10, knoppix 5,1, fedora 8,9,10 flashplayer 10 is broken in the same way.  It reports that it cannot find webcam, and the settings dialog refuses to recognize mouse clicks.  I've poked around the web quite a bit and have not yet found a solution.  I saw the problem mentioned on an adobe bug reporting site and their response was to close the issue saying it wasn't repeatable on their system.  I tried to re-open it and my post was deleted without comment (I may have posted incorrectly or something)
Looking here  and elsewhere I see that the problem is very common and I don't see any posted bug-fixes, or even acknowledgement that a bug exists.  Has adobe lost interest in being cross-platform compatible?

  • Missing files in flash player 9 plugin debugger installer?

Hello all. I've been trying for some time to use the ExternalInterface.call method in flash, to no avail (see here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7...ipt-javascript here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8...rface-in-flash and here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8...-firefox-linux) and now I'm trying to trace ExternalInterface.available. So far my best option seems to be FlashTracer for firefox, except that I have to have flash player 9 installed. I've removed my old flash player and downloaded the appropriate files (http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...nux_dev.tar.gz). According to the readme included these are the steps for installation:
Installing the debugger plugin tar.gz using Install script:
o the debugger plugin is located at:
    ./plugin/debugger/install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz
    o Unpack the tar.gz file
o In terminal, navigate to the unpacked directory and enter:
    + $ ./flashplayer-installer
+ Click Enter key and follow prompts
except there's no file called flashplayer in the debugger directory. Anyone else ran into this? How can I install flash player 9 debugger on my Ubuntu system?

Hmmm.  I'm running into similar problems with flashplayer 10. Except I don't even have a directory to navigate to. I just posted about this... and no one was able to help you since May?  Man, that is seriously unencouraging!

  • Missing tabs after flash player update

to update flash player, we must close our browsers. when the update finishes, the installer launches a browser with one and only one tab, congratulating us on our excellent job of updating flash. all other tabs are gone.
i don't need to be congratulated, certainly not through a browser with my tabs closed. perhaps the updater could congratulate me as it's last action. if the only test for a successful update is to launch a browser, can that be done without closing the tabs?
i'm sure this isn't the proper forum for this question, but there seems to be none for flash player installation problems.

Spotlight search “Flash Player.plugin” (Search “This Mac” and choose "Show All in Finder")
Right click the Plugin and select “Open Enclosing Folder” Trash the Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt files.
    Go to: [user]/Library/Preferences.
Note: You'll need to hold the "Option" key when you click "Go" from the Finder menu to access the [user] Library:
    Without the "Option" key
    And WITH
    Trash the Macromedia folder there.
Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support. Trash the Macromedia folder there.
Go to: Mac HD/Library/Preference Panes (not Preferences, but Preference Panes). Trash the Flash Player.prefpane file there.
Empty the trash. (You may have to reboot to be able to empty the Trash with the Flash Player prefpane in it.)
Download the Flash Player (For Mac OS X).
Quit Safari and go to your downloads folder. Double click the DMG to “mount it”.
It will appear on your desktop and a small window will open.
Double click the installer. If you see a warning, click “Open” to let it run.
Click “I have read and agree… etc.” and click “Install”. Enter your password when asked.
You may see the following: click “Force Close All” if you do, and then click “Retry”.
    The installer will run.
Choose your update preference, and click “Done”.
Open Safari again and click Safari>Preferences (Cmd+,)
Go to the Security tab. Make sure “Allow plug-ins” is checked.
That should be a COMPLETE "clean install" for OS 10.7.5.

  • Extracting text from flash player to c++ program

i was wondering if there was any way to read text from a window open in  firefox (or any web browser) and use that text as a variable in a c++  program.  for a specific example, i am trying to create a poker  statistics program.  there are poker playing  sites online that stream hand data through a text box of some sort  (hole cards, flop, turn, river, bets, etc...), and i when it is shown i  want to read that data into a c++ program (im using visual express  2005), and manipulate that data for my statistical  purposes.  is there any way to do this, and if so, how? ive been  looking at windows api functions and packet sniffers, but i havent been  able to find anything useful.  please be as concise as you can, im still  moderately new at programming.

I don't know if this is of any use: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/swf/

  • 5800 XM missed text light keeps flashing!

    Hello everyone!
Right, I dont know why, ever since I updated the 5800 with the latest firmware the little white light that used to only flash when I had a missed call or a missed text now flashes constantly (at that same slow rate..but its always flashing). I went through my inbox, outbox everything. Then went though all the missed calls etc, but it still flashes.
Any ideas why or how I could stop it?
    Cheers!
    Solved!

It's the "breather" as mentioned in the hundred or so other threads about this issue on this forum.

  • Basics on using Adobe Flash Player

I'm trying to get a better understanding of some of the basics concerning Adobe Flash Player.
I'm developing a web page with some third party software and have been provided with an HTML file to add to the site.  If I try to launch the HTML file either in the web site or stand-alone, nothing happens.  However, the person who provided me with the file sees an animation, apparently because she has Flash Player installed and I don't.
There's a large user community who will view the site and rather than expect all users to install Flash Player, I'm looking for an alternative.  What I'm missing is how Flash Player effectively creates an animation from the HTML file that I was provided with ... HTML files are by themselves static.  I was hoping that I could somehow convert this animation into a WMV or similar file type that could run without having the site users install any software.
I'd appreciate any ideas on this.  Thanks.

Flash content on a web site is usually in the form of a SWF file.  The Flash Player browser add-on will then play its content.  That, of course, requires that Flash Player is installed on the client side.
The alternative to Flash Player is HTML5, which is supported by all modern web browsers, and does not require the installation of any browser add-on.  See http://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_intro.asp
