Missing text in itemrenderer button.

I've upgraded from Flex2 to Flex3, and while it's working
much better for me overall I still have one problem that I can't
figure out.
In some of my datagrids, I have a column that displays a
button (the button is used for removing it's row from the
dataprovider), however in Flex3 the text that's supposed to show up
on the button does not appear (it's just an X, but it will be
confusing for people who use the program to not have it show up.)
Anyone know where I missed something here?

Per the docs, the default paddingLeft for a button is 10, so
maybe your "X" is just pushed off to the right.
Set the paddingLeft, and right, for that matter = 0

After upgrading to 10.2.2.12 on windows XP SP3 , itunes does not display any summary info or buttons/options. The buttons work but it does not display the text on the button or the options available.

I recently upgraded the iTunes software to 10.2.2.12 on my Windows XP laptop. Since then, iTunes stopped displaying the Summary info
, the text on the buttons, the various drop down options. The buttons seem to be working but I can't tell what that button is supposed to do
or the option I am selecting. This is preventing me from syncing my photos to the laptop.
this was not a problem with the previous version of iTunes.
Actions taken :
- I tried downloading iTunes again and repairing the install. That did not fix it.
- Don't want to uninstall it as I am worried that I would lose all the songs and the purchases etc.
1. Has anyone encountered this ?
2. Is there a solution for this ?

Yeah it does, although the problem predates version 10.2.2.12. It's been around since earlier-on in the version 10s (at least).
It's usually Segoe UI font trouble on the Windows 7 systems too. Unfortunately, the Vortical troubleshooting technique only works on XP and Vista systems, so dealing with the issue on a Windows 7 system is trickier. (There's a bunch of different possible issues relating to the fonts that could be in play, and so the treatment tends to depend on which issue in particular you've got with the Segoe_UI fonts.)

How to select different parts of the text? cmd button no longer does that...

After installing Maverics i can no longer propertly edit my work as I cannot mark different parts of text using cmd button. Shift works as before for highlighting all the text from starting point to selected point but I can no longer use cmd to highlight different areas of the text. Is this an OS bug? Or was the button for selecting different parts of the text changed? I tried everything...

It's just a small part of what makes Pages 5 so "stunning" (Apple's word). You think stripping out the nifty ability to mark non-contiguous passages of text was neat? Sure that was nice. But Apple has gotten rid of more, so much more. And for free!
Just wait till you put the product through its paces and you discover other nice features that are missing, such as (but not limited to):
- no linking of text boxes! Yes, that's right. Now a newsletter that had a "continued on page 6" or whatever will be broken by Pages 5. Stunning! (Even more stunning, Pages 5 will strip out all sorts of formatting from documents created with Pages 4.3 and it will do ao without warning and will save the document in a NEW unified file format so that it cannot be opened by Pages 4.3, thereby potentially losing users hours and hours of work. Stunning!

- Pages 5 has no mail merge, no bookmarks, no images in headers/footers! Pages 4.3 has those features, but this stunning new release removes them.
- Pages 5 features vastly reduced and simplified set of templates (there used to be about 130 Apple-cupplied templates, now there are about 60).
- Page 5 also boasts NO RTF SUPPORT, so a paper your wrote with Apple's own TextEdit is not natively readable with Pages: Stunning!

PDF has missing text when created from FM 9

My Software:
Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP 3
FrameMaker 9.0p255
Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Version 9.4.1
When generating a PDF document from FrameMaker, the PDF document has random missing text, including whole paragraphs, sentences and some text in tables. We have several FrameMaker books and they are all having the same issues. These books were fine when we last published updates within the last month and we have not made any changes to fonts.
When generating a PDF from FrameMaker, we always print the book to a postscript file first following these steps:
- Go to File > Print Book.
- Select the Adobe PDF printer.
- Select the Print to File option and specify a .ps filename.
- Select the Generate Acrobat Data option.
- Use Acrobat Distiller to convert the PS file to PDF.
Note that I also tried File > Save As PDF and got the same results.

Did you reboot after the hotfix? fwiw, other users on the forum have had difficulty with the hotfix not being installed correctly the first time around.
once you download the hotfix from MS you have to run the .exe, and then when it’s finished you have to reboot. Then check the Add or Remove programs in Control panel, and click the “show updates” button, then scroll way down to see the hotfixes, to be sure that #952909 is shown.
What fonts are you using in your documents? Specific type (PS, TT, OTF) and any other info you have (foundry, etc).
Do the "gaps" seem to occur when there are font changes in the document, e.g. when words in a sentence are bold or when a paragraph in a different weight (e.g. bold italic) follows, say, a "regular" text weight paragraph? As another test, can you highlight a segment of good+bad+good text in the PDF, do Control+c to copy it to the clipboard, then Control+v to paste it into a different file (Word, text editor, even another new FM document). Do the words of the "missing" text segments show up?
edit: the hotfix download process is a bit confusing; if I remember correctly it has to be requested, then MS sends a link to the download webpage, then the downloaded .exe has to be run.

Missing text in many programs - Rox, Thunar, Deluge, etc [SOLVED]

I'm having a very confusing problem. Basically, text is just missing from certain programs. Here are a few quick examples:

Rox:
Deluge:
It's very strange. First of all, this just started happening recently, and I don't think after an update or anything. But I know "it just randomly started happening" is a dumb thing to say.
Here is the info I think could be useful:
-I have the ttf-freefont package and the xorg-font family of packages
-I have updated and restarted since this happened; nothing has changed
-The filenames look perfect if I just list them in the terminal (no newlines or anything)
-The filenames that have disappeared aren't anything special, it's seemingly random (no weird characters in them)
-The icons are totally fine
-All the things with missing text are still totally functional if I use them
-I thought this was a file manager issue, but it happening in Deluge too, so nope
-I downloaded and tried Nautilus, same deal, but some files had random words from their name appear. Just as bad basically though
-I also downloaded and tried Midnight Commander (a text based file manager) and everything is perfectly fine in it
Any suggestions? This is very mysterious, and driving me nuts.

Edit: To clarify, in the Thunar and Rox pictures I just took screenshots of a small portion of a folder. In the Deluge pictures, in the first one those 3 blank looking buttons in that menu should have more words (like "Remove Torrent"), and in the second one, those + and - buttons should also have text.

Cairo 1.12 was just moved into [extra], so chances are this bug will reappear the next time you -Syu. If you're running Nouveau drivers, then the underlying cause of your issue might be this bug:

If this is indeed your issue, then you need to install the xf86-video-nouveau-0.0.16_git20120512-1 package from [testing]. If you re-enable [testing] and do an -Syu, it should automatically install this package.

Try closing the iBooks app. Press the home button to get to the home screen if you're not already there. Then double click the home button. Locate the iBooks icon at the bottom. Hold your finger down on it until a red minus appears. Tap the red minus. Press the home button to return to normal. Then relaunch iBooks.
If that fails, delete the books, then you can redownload them under the Purchased tab in "Store."

The handle to the Step.Button1Label gets you the data, but there are several ways to get it into the actual report.
The easiest is to use the reporttext.
In a post expression, you can use something like
Step.Result.ReportText = Evaluate("Step.Button" + Str(Step.Result.ButtonHit) +"Label")
and then the default report generation will include it in the report. Otherwise, you need to get the text into the Resultlist by various means (check the user manual, or the TestStand II customisation course) and handle the report generation yourself inside of the appropriate sequence in the process model.

How can I set the different boolean text in the button array?

I created the OK boolean button array. How can I change the boolean text of each button to be different at run-time? I changed one, but the others are changed also.

Select the control using the positioning tool and choose
Customize... from the Edit menu or choose it by popping up
on/right clicking on the control and selecting Advanced>>
Customize...
This will open the control up in a new window -- the control
editor window. This window allows for lots of additional
control modifications and allows for them to be saved into
typedefs to promote reuse and make things more consistent.
Once in the control editor, popup on the button and select
the menu item near the bottom Multiple Text Strings.
Close the editor window and the first dialog will ask if
you would like to save the change
d file. Choose No, and a
second dialog will ask if you would like to Replace the
Original Control. Choose Yes.
At this point the Button will support multiple text labels.
To edit the True string, make the Boolean True and use the
Labeling tool to edit the string that is visible. To edit
the False string, make the Boolean False and use the labeling
tool to edit that string too.

How can i change the color of the text on a button in Roll Over or Click state (Cs5.5)

Hello,
Here is the problematic:
1° How can i change the color of the text on a button in Roll Over or Click state (Cs5.5)
- I've many button in a doc im creating
- the color of the buttons is white with black stoke & black text
- in roll over state i want them to inverse the color coding (the text white & bottom black)
- currently the text becomes invisible as black on black cant be seen (ive stroked it white but that looks ugly)
- i would just like to know if there is a function made for this?
My other questions:
2° Ive a presentation on which Ive created buttons which tigger pop-up animations
- i have 5 buttons which trigger animations
- the viewer can chose to Click on any of the buttons randomly
- the problem is once the animation is open how can it be close... either:
a) by it self after "40" seconds
b) when ther viewer clicks another button
3° Ive created buttons linking pages..
- "go to page xxx"
- when i do a preview and click on the buttons the links dont take me to the right pages
- is that normal? (maybe in preview its suppose to be like that)
4° I would like to intergrate YouTube videos in the presentation so they play inside the docment.. when i tried.. it said the 'link isnt a flash video'
- what should i do?
5° Once i export it into Swf. how how can i visualize it? or put it online?

You should setup Object Styles - these can also include Paragarph Styles that can be triggered when the Style is selected.

InDesign won't link directly to youtube videos. I think your best bet would be to use Downloader to download the video and embed them directly in Indesign.
5° Once i export it into Swf. how how can i visualize it? or put it online?

You can look up how to embed a SWF file into your HTML - but it depends what you mean by "online" there's a dozen ways to get a file "online".

Why is my itunes missing text? and how can I fix it?

A couple of months ago I upgraded to Itunes 10.5 and ever since, I have had no text across the top (where it would usually say file, edit, view, ect.) and also when I plug in my iphone or ipad and click on them in order to sync or back them up, all of the buttons that I usually could choose from are blank. The default picture of my iphone will appear but I cannot see the text in the buttons in order to choose what I want to do with it. I just got a new iphone yesterday and would like to back it up from my old phone but I can't because I havent memorized what buttons I would need to press for that and there is no text whatsoever to guide me. I have a PC with windows 7 64-bit, but that is about all i could tell you, i have very limited knowledge about computers. I have done some research and it appears to be a font issue in which windows isn't recognizing the font and therefore not displaying it, but all the ways to fix it are way over my head. I need a very basic step by step solution. I called apple care a month ago and was on the phone with two different techs for over 3 hours and no one could help me. PLEASE HELP!!!

I actually have a fairly simple solution to this for Windows 7. Don't mess with your registry or delete other fonts. Go into c:/windows/fonts. Check to see that you have the set of fonts "Segoe UI". Inside this set are 6 Segoe fonts:
Regular (segoeui)
Regular Italic (segoeuii)
Bold (segoeuib)
Bold Italic (segoeuiz)
Semi Bold (seguisb)
Light (segoeuil)
You may not have them arranged in a set, but just check that you have all of them.
Make sure programs (i.e iTunes) are closed.
If you don't have the fonts, find them on the internet, ask a friend to copy and paste them, send them to you etc. They are easy and free to get. Download them to your desktop. Right click each one and "Install".
If you already have them in your fonts folder (my problem) do this: COPY (not cut) them from your c:/windows/fonts folder to your desktop. Close windows explorer. From your desktop, right click each one and "Install". You will get a message that they are already installed and do you want to install a newer version or some such. Say "Yes". They will get re-installed.
Open iTunes and you should have all your text back!
*Based on a sample of one - hopefully it works for you.

Pages 5.2 Table missing text when printed

I created a document with several tables. These tables contain algebra formulas with superscript. I read in another forum that the issue may be the use of the superscript. However their problem only occurred when printing the document as a PDF. I am having the problem printing from both Pages and as a PDF. Some superscript appears as it should. Not all missing text is superscript.
Any ideas? I hate to have to recreate this document in Word. I took me forever to create.

Known limitation with Pages v5.2. If you had Pages ’09 installed before the upgrade downgrade to Pages v5.2, it was moved to /Applications/iWork ’09.
You will need to export from Pages v5.2 as Pages ’09 in order to process your work in the older Pages version. You will also need to open the Pages ’09 document either through that Applications file chooser, or via the right-click, contextual menu Open with > Pages (4.3). Double-clicking with both Pages installed will default to using Pages v5.2.
LibreOffice is a free alternative to MS Word, and works better with Mavericks than does OpenOffice.

Randomly Missing Text in PDF Created from FrameMaker

This problem relates to a structured FM document, but I suspect it might be a general issue and have posted it here in the general forum for that reason.
I am generating PDFs that are missing text somewhat randomly throughout. I tried searching the forum for solutions, but none of the suggested fixes worked and none of the posts specifically addressed the issue I am experiencing.
I am working in structured FM. The templates we use were originally created for FM8. We use both FM8 and FM10 in our work group. We are able to duplicate the same problem in both versions and on multiple computers.
I thought I had narrowed the problem down to certain paragraph formatting, since it only ocurs in three or four paragraph formats (a bullet list, table text, etc.) Garden variety formatting. But in most places in the document, these formats appear perfectly. The strangest occurence is a single intance where the page number is missing from the footer.
I thought it might be a font issue, as I've had similar issues in the past. I had a missing font warning in the console, but I am pretty sure that this has nothing to do with it, since they are fonts we are not using and all the other text from the same formats appears.
I tried turning off "Remember Missing Font Names" in preferences. No help.
I checked that the fonts are in the local directory and appear as embedded subsets in the PDF.
I also tried checking and unchecking the "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts" option in the PDF output settings. Also no help.
The randomness of the missing fonts bewilders me and I've exhausted my own troubleshooting abilities. I would be happy to share a source file if anyone thinks they could help me that way.

There is a known bug in Windows XP that causes random dropped text in
PDF. The hotfix is here, though the link does not seem to be working at

Custom button goes missing after click the button in Customer Master

Hi All,
I have one query regarding Custom tab button in Custome MAster.I have implemented BAdIs using CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA_CS and CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA to match my requirment.
Query:
While click the custom button(which i have created in Customer Master) , the subscreen is displayed but the Custom Button is missing.Where in Standard Buttons like 'GENERAL DATA' and 'COMPANY CODE DATA' Std buttons in Customer master Etc. buttons going to disable mode while click these button in custome mastar.
Is there any OSS notes to implement OR we required to set up some PF status to match above requirment.
Please let me know.

If I follow you, no. That's the way it works. The buttons are composited with the background so become part of it. I'd rethink the design.
Basically, you don't want the highlights to determine the color of unselected buttons. You'll always have fringes and jaggies. Having a non-transparent color set for the unselected state kind of does what you want, but won't look the best.
