Missing thumbnails in the pages window of InDesign

When you go to window > pages, the pages and master pages thumbnails are all missing. How do you get the thumbnails back for preview?

If the panel is suddenly blank you usually need to trash the prefs. See Replace Your Preferences

Pages disappeared from the "pages window"

pages suddenly disappeared from the pages window.
whatever file i open or create and no matter how many pages i add, they do not appear in the "pages window". it is completely blank as if no file is opened. therefor i cannot edit, move or manage the pages within my files.
i have tried deleting preference files but that does not work. very frustrating.
any help appreciated

Not being a Mac user, I don't know if both preference files you need to delete are in that same library folder. You have to remove InDesign SavedData and InDesign Defaults. You might want to have a look at this article: Adobe InDesign CS4 * Setting preferences

Thumbnails disappeared in Pages panel in InDesign CS4

The thumbnails that show the page spreads and the master pages have disappeared in the Pages panel of ID CS4 (on Windows XP SP3). I can't figure out (a) what caused them to disappear or, more importantly, (b) how to get them back. In the Panel Options, I have Show Thumbnails checked for both Pages and Masters, and all 3 of the Icons options checked. Any suggestions on how to get them back would be appreciated.

In followup, I tried to reinstalling ID4 -- a painful process. That didn't solve the problem. So I tried unchecking display thumbnails vertically. That worked in that the thumbnails for both masters and pages displayed correctly horizontally. I then rechecked display vertically and they disappeared again.

Imported photos won't show up as thumbnails in the Organizer window. What did I do wrong?

I recently imported .jpg files from a Canon A3000 and the files show imported but the thumbnails do not appear in the organizer window. When I do a re-import of the same files it give me a dialog box saying thay have already been imported. Can someone help me please.

Please try right clicking the thumbnails and "Update thumbnail" option.

Just downloaded the pages app. How do i make the program fit the whole screen of the macbook?

Correct the Locked full screen IS windows behavior and has not been the way Mac OS has worked to-date.
Its a long standing bone of contention especially among early switchers that are so used to having IE/MS Word/ Outlook etc.. spread across their monitor with a swathe of white each side of the actual text.
OSx behavior is based on a true desktop and a genuine multi tasking metaphor (Also the reason Macs own range monitors have been wide screen for so long)
It is designed to enhance work flow and specifically take advantage of TRUE full drag and drop across the entire OS with use of the desktop as a conduit rather than simply programme launcher (The way many Windows users do)
Interestingly with the continued OS convergence today see W7 acknowledge that the locked screen approach being obsolete in a multi tasking work environment with "new" the snap to feature allow two windows side by by side
(Its actually not new but automated tile windows vertically that's be there since the dawn of time (hidden like much of windows - Right click over the task bar choose Tile Windows Vertically - Very intuitive !)
At the same time Apple are building in Full Screen functionality into OS10.7 Lion !
Personally not sure i'll be using it !

Adobe Bridge is extremely slow to load thumbnails in the content window when opening a folder.

Has anyone else had any issues with Bridge taking a long time (45 seconds per window) to load the content window? I have my files nested in folders and when I browse them using Bridge it takes me forever to get to the files I need. I'm asking here to see if there's some setting I need to adjust or something. We just recently started using CC and I had no problems at all until our IS department swapped out my tower with a new one. I don't know why that would make a difference but it's the only thing that's changed.

You might want to provide more details about this configuration (OS, what files are you viewing, are you on stand alone or via server) but in general a new computer (I think that is what you are talking about?) means all the difference.
The specs regarding free disk space, RAM, VRAM and processor speed is vital for application like PS and Bridge that are very processor demanding when busy.
And you need to recache the lot first once to save the data for thumbs and HQ previews to the cache for future use. Once a file is cached it should show instantly. Best way to recache is to select the main folder and use the menu view / show items for subfolders and then let Bridge do its work. This can take a long time depending the amount and file size of your content.

Since upgrading to 9.01, FF starts up with previous tabs open. Hovering over the FF icon in the Windows Task Bar shows the thumbnails of the pages. But clicking any of the thumbnails to bring the browser window up fail.

Master page runs when I added small thumbnails in the page?

Hi,
The site has only 1 Master page which are the Top & Bottom Logo, align horizontally center.
A page called "Archive" – thumbnails work to add for the entire page.
It happens when I add all my current thumbnails, the Top Logo runs a slightly off to the left, where as the Bottom Logo is fine.
How do I solve this issue?

Updating missing thumbnails in the PSE Organizer not working?

I am using PSE12 as a test intallation. After editing photos (JPEG or RAW) with the PSE-Editor, those thumbnails are not visible anymore. Also there are 2 out of about twenty folders that do not show thumbnails at all.
Updating the thumbnails doesn't help, also repairing the catalogue doesn't make a change. Renaming the thumb.5.cache makes things worse. After hours of updating thumbnails, no thumbnails are displayed at all.

Try highlighting a batch of the thumbnails and from the menu click:
Edit >> Update Thumbnail for Selected Items

Missing thumbnails in the timeline

I'm learning how to cut video in the timeline, and noticed that only the first three cuts result in a thumbnail image, while the last 4 cuts are displayed by a small grey box with a + symbol in the center. Am I doing something wrong here? How does one get all of the thumbs to show?

Missing everything in the " Property " window

So, ok I want to get my " Property" window with the RGB and everything else in order to be able to finish what I am doing, and so I want to turn that grey sand from the image in from to be alike the brown sand in the back, and I get the window just as it has to be when I am on any Mac at my college, but I am just not getting it right at home on my desktop.
I did everything as I did during class.

I know that the code is clean because it runs perfectly in DW (even with the occasional lag). Shorter loop functions have also worked in DW, but not in my Chrome or IE browsers. Is there a script or program that the HTML should run first?

But page numbers do defenitively not belong to the text structure, neither do running headers and footers. As far as I understand these items are disturbing when reading pages.
I am not blind and neither peronally I don't know any. But I suppose there are other means as reading marks for them as page numbers.

Not possible. You'll need to go to your operating system and choose a screen resolution that displays the screen with larger pixels.
Or get a new prescription for your glasses (seriously!)

Accessing or creating thumbnail images of pages to use in navigation

In Bridge I can scroll through the Indesign pages by scrolling through the thumbnail images without opening the Indesign file.
Is it possible to access those thumbnails so that I can use them as page navigation buttons in the Indesign file, or is there another way to create a thumbnail of the pages to reuse as buttons?

In the thread here I mention an external utility I wrote to extract the JPEG thumbnails that InDesign creates for use in Bridge. If you don't use Windows, google a bit to find a Javascript that does the same. (The difference is, you need to run the JS from within InDesign; my program works without.)
