Missing tiny clips causing jumps

when i import from my handycam minidv it automatically puts in edit points where my clip jumps (small but very noticeable). is there any way to avoid this, like importing as one solid clip? also, im not sure if this is relevant but, there are a bunch of 0.1 sec clips at the bottom of my events. i just want one solid video. i dont need tracks or chapters. please help. thanks.

First thought was that image stabilization might be a factor. Turn it off for a pIR OF incoming and outgoing clips and see whether that makes a difference.

  • Simple title shows up as missing compound clip after 10.1 update

None of my projects had any missing files prior to updating to 10.1. It all went quite smoothly with the exception of one project that has three or four clips that now show up as compound clips, but they were not compound clips in the original. One is a simple scrolling title.  If I open the supposed compound clip in the timeline it looks like this:
It is "attached" in some way to the previous still image and in fact if I return to the main timeline and select the clip and expand it by clicking and dragging the left handle so as to make the title longer it will actually roll into the previous clips and then the red "missing" compound clip will contain previous clip sections. Oddly if I play the project it all plays just fine and there are none of the clips that are marked as missing cause a problem.
Has anyone seen this kind of behavior before?
My product list is out of date....

You may soon develop a reputation for knowing something about this program, Tom.
Thanks very much. Now to research on why a project that was in the Updated Projects "folder" and then dragged to an event has disappeared entirely...but I'll post that question if I can't find the answer.

  • Missing source clip in project

I am trying to back up a LOT of projects to an external hard drive.  When I checked to make sure they made the move several show "missing source clip" sections.  Errgh!

I did that too, then I did a migration assistant to a new Mac and ALL of my movies have Source Clip Missing now, even though the original clips are still in the iPhoto Videos.  I can stand to re edit one or two projects, but not ALL.

  • Rendering timeline causes multicam clips to jump sync.

working on a project using multiclip editing, a performance with 2 camera angles. Video tracks are in great shape; after editing the 1 hour sequence, I added dissolves to cuts.
Playing back after rendering there are slight but noticable jumps around the dissolves. I tested a very short sample, and exported, and there now appears to be a syncing issue THAT DOESN'T SHOW UP PRIOR TO RENDERING. If I add both angles to a time line, and lower the opacity of the top angle, any where I scan, the angles are in sync, tightly.
    WHAT could be causing this?
*This is using FCP 7.0.3; the clips were captured via firewire from XHA1s cameras running directly into individual MBPs, into Quicktime Pro.

Here are a few screen grabs illustrating the problem:
The first shows multi clip in the Viewer after double clicking the track on timeline:
The second shows the Viewer reverting back to one shot when I start playing the timeline, as soon as I stop, the viewer changes back to multicam view as seen in first image:
and here are my viewer settings
    Any additional thoughts?

  • Premerie Pro CC - have sound on timeline, yet when I export file i am missing sound in one tiny clip. Can I be related to working with Merged clips?

    Hello Premerie Pro CC community,
I need help, I am working with merged clips (the video footage shoot with a DSLR and different audio recorders). I have a timeline in premerie with sound all finished. Everything was fine until I when and fine tuned some of the audio, just added key frames to correct and now when I export my sequence I am missing sound in one little clip of the entire mov.
Does it have to do with sound and editing with a merged clip?
I have tried to export in several different settings and still the same result, and when I look at my timeline the sound is all there.
I have until the end of Monday to figure what I have done incorrect
    thanks

In case it is a phase problem, try adding fill left effect to the faulty clip.

  • Transition on Adjacent Clips Causes PE4 to Halt...

Any idea why on certain adjacent AV clips I can only get a 'Dissolve to Black" to sit on only one side of the pair. All clips in the project are DV-AVI and were generated in the same fashion prior to loading into PE.
If I leave the Dissolve on only one side of the pair, when I click on Share/Disk, PE Halts and won't restart without a re-boot. Remove the Dissolve and Burn-to-Folder completes okay. I can re-produce the halt at will.
    Any ideas appreciated...

    Kodebuster,
    I've got two:
1.) Handles: depending on the Duration of your Transition, you need half of that Duration (if the Transition is centered) in extra frames to allow for it to be used, i.e. with a 30 frame Duration Tranisition, you need 15 frames on each adjacet Clip. If you do not have those Handles, you can only place the Transition onto one of the Clips, with the exception of Dip-to-Black. That's why one should always shoot a second, or two, of extra footage per scene/Clip. In Clips that are longer, but have had the In & Out Points set, this is why one often sees a frame, or two, from the next shot, just as the Transition gets to the mid-point - the Handles are not quite long enough. Check carefully, that have adequate Handles at the Tail of the first Clip and at the Head of the next one.
2.) Gaps: The same thing happens (or so it appears), if one has an even 1 frame gap, between the two Clips. If one is looking at the Timeline zoomed out, these are hard to see. Gaps can (though not always) cause all sorts of problems. They are most easily spotted by zooming in to the frame-view-level, and looking closely. I also will hit Home, then PageDn, to step through each Clip. The CTI (Current Time Indicator) should go smoothly from Clip to Clip. If you get a "pause" or "hesitation," then you likely have a gap. These can be closed up by: moving all following Clips to the left to close, or by extending the Duration of one of the nearly adjacent Clips by the required number of frames (see Handles, above). If one is doing Dip-to-Black, a tiny piece of Black Video can be inserted.
Now, why PE halts on you, is a bit of a mystery, as it will usually play through problems with Handles and also gaps. Not sure what is causing that.
Tell us a bit more about your two "adjacent" Clips and also which Transitions you are using. That might help figure out the reason for the pause.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Effects missing from clips after PP update

I have asked this question before, but nobody responded with any useful suggestions.  Let me try again.
I spent an incredible amount of time keyframing Beauty Box effects on a timeline in Premiere Pro 8.0 during fall 2014.  When I upgraded to 8.1, all the effects are simply gone from the timeline.  To be clear, there are no "missing effects" messages; they are just gone.
Beauty Box is still installed and is an effect I can add to my clips with ease, but somehow, the update stripped all the effects off the timeline when it the project is updated to the new version.
Luckily, there is one machine at work that is still on 8.0 and recognizes my old project correctly.  But - PP crashes literally every single time I try to adjust the Beauty Box effects that I spent many, many hours tweaking already.
Exporting an AAF also doesn't work: PP crashes every single time I try.
Short of adding the effect all over again to every clip and starting from scratch, is this a known issue to Adobe and is there a solution?  I hesitate to upgrade Beauty Box, as updating any software in the middle of a project is a bad idea (see above).
And here are bonus issues: I use a Saffire Pro 14 for audio on my system.  Everything was fine until the other day, when it stopped playing AIFs. If I try to import one and place it in the source monitor, everything locks up and PP crashes.  There have been no hardware or software updates in these areas for literally months (aside form "upgrading" to the latest PP version about a month or so ago).  The files play normally outside of PP.  The solution to this, I found after a good bit of experimenting, is to switch to the Adobe audio driver.  But why?
Also, I have a two monitor system.  The right monitor is my program view.  I usually set it nearly full screen (but not quite).  Suddenly, it started taking up the entire screen with no borders (and no accessible controls) yesterday.  I can't find a command to restore it to normal.  (~ doesn't do it).
Another frustrating issue: warning boxes that normally appear on top of everything onscreen have begun appearing behind other PP windows, giving me the annoying system error noise whenever I try to touch anything.  the only way I have found to reveal them is to switch to another program then toggle back to PP.
All of this has made it virtually impossible for me to get any work done on this project. Gotta say I'm not loving PP right now.er literally a month,

UPDATE - after literally a month, all my missing effects re-appeared on my timeline tonight.  Why?  Who knows?  But I'm glad they're back.

I have almost the same problem.  As a workaround, I can check "sync all music" rather than "sync checked music" in iTunes.  (By the way, it worked for a couple weeks and now it doesn't).  I'm fortunate that all my music fits on my touch (though just barely).  The only album that still exists on my ipod (officially anyways) is one that I bought from iTunes after upgrading.
Also, I listen to a lot of podcasts, and I haven't figured out how to make that work (they disappeared too).
Anybody know how to get back to a position where I can decide what I want for music and don't have to put everything on my touch?

  • Missing Sound Clips

I'm ready to send my fcp audio via 'Send to' to STP, but once it opens, it's only showing 2 or 3 clips out of the entire audio sequence. About 95% of the audio is missing/not visible in the STP timeline.
Anybody have a solution for this?  I've used STP a thousand times and never witnessed this before.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the link. Is the solution to try using that tsMuxeR program or is there a better way of importing the clips into PE? Once I download the files/folders off the SD card from the camera I format the card ready for new recordings. So the only copies are on the main HD and backup external HD.
When I use PE I use its "Get video from files and folders" option to find the files which are located in the Stream folder.

  • Missing recording clip - PLEASE HELP!

Recording some speech clips in GB and went back to them this am to find them missing... I did discover that if I move the clips back and forth through the track, they shorten (cutting off) other clips that take up the same space... So if I slid a recorded clip over too far, and it covered over my previous clip is it gone forever?
I'm working on a senior project and it's due tomorrow and now I'm missing audio
    PLEASE HELP ME!

    I was afraid of that.
I wish that didn't happen. I would think that if you slide a clip over, it might push the other clips along with it, or hide it underneath or something to prevent loss of data...
I think ACID worked like that.
    bummer.
    thanks.

  • Green pixels in clips cause 'premiere elements.exe stopped working error.'

I have a jvc everio camcorder - PAL. I have copied files from the camcorder to my computer. My computer is running Vista SP1 with 2Gb ram.
The files appear to import to PElements 4 however when playing or rendering the clips I get an error adobe premiere elements.exe has stopped working.
I have noticed that the clips have green pixels appear at the point where PE crashes.  All clips seem to have this problem.
I have followed the suggestions from the knowledge base re: updating codecs, disabling startup items, updating video driver.
I don't have the cyberlink software that came with the jvc. I bought premiere elements as I had read that it would be able to read the jvc files.
Has anyone got any other suggestions?

Thanks for the redirect.  The solution to my problem was to follow this suggestion from that thread:
I was having the same JVC Everio/Elements 7 problem. I tried renaming the .mod extensions to .mpg and .avi, but still had the green artifacts. After an hour on the phone with Ronald, a VERY helpful Adobe Service Tech, I seem to have a solution that is working on my 5 edit stations here in my AV Lab.
Go to the Adobe Elements 7 folder in your "Program Files" folder and open the "Plug Ins" and "en_US" folders. Find a file called ImporterFastMPEG.prm and remove it. I moved it to the desktop until I test the software totally and make sure this doesn't cause other problems. If you are a brave, go ahead and delete it.
This is working for me, and avoids all that renaming - reprocessing the .mod files. So far, so good!

  • Missing video clips, Keynote '09 5.1.1 (build 1034) and OS X 10.6.8

I use keynote quite a bit, and have a collection of perhaps fifty keynote talks written over the past five years.  But a serious problem has surfaced in the past day: if I open any of my keynote files, the VIDEO CLIPS DO NOT SHOW.  I can see the video clip (a static image) in the thumbnail image on the left.  I can also see the placeholder if I put the mouse over the video location on the slide.  But when I "play" the page, I just see a black box where the video should appear, with the usual play and pause buttons, etc.
If someone has experienced this problem, and/or has a solution, I would be grateful.  I have updated my OS on a regular basis, so as far as I know, everything is up-to-date.  It may be that a recent update has caused this; the last time that I looked at some keynote files a few weeks ago, everything was working OK.
(NOTE ADDED TEN MINUTES LATER: PROBLEM "SOLVED" BY SHUTTING DOWN ALL APPLICATIONS AND REBOOTING LAPTOP.)
Message was edited by: ProfBA, SOLVED

Step one: DL and reinstall the 10.6.8 v1,1 COMBO update, repair permissions, and restart.
If no go, reinstall Snow Leopard, repair permissions, and restart. If that works, make a bootable backup/clone of this installation, test it, then run Software Update to get back to 10.6.8.

  • Replacing video clip causes project to become corrupted.

I'm not sure if this would be considered a bug or not, but I'll explain what happened.  I'm using CS4 with all Adobe software mentioned below.
I'm working on an animation project that has foreground characters created using Anime Studio Pro software and backgrounds created in 3d Studio Max.  I then use After Effects to composite the two and add effects.  Out of After Effects I'm rendering uncompressed AVI files.  I then bring those into Premiere Pro to edit the whole thing and add the dialogue, music and sound effects.  I sometimes go ahead and include the dialogue audio in the individual clips for reference, but I only end up using the video in Premiere.
Sometimes after I get a shot completely finished we notice a problem, or the client wants a change, etc.  I have to go back and redo the composite in After Effects.  I usually just export over the clip that was already done (and already loaded into Premiere Pro) and the only time this seems to be a problem is if I do it while Premiere is still open (usually causes it to freeze).
But I ran into a big problem the other day where one of the original clips I replaced had some audio in it, and I accidently forgot to include the audio in the one I replaced it with.  At first there didn't seem to be any problem, but when I shut down Premiere and tried to open the project back up, it wouldn't finish loading.  It took me a while to figure out what the problem was.  I ended up going back to an autosave, but if I opened it up and then saved it, the saved project woudn't finish loading any more.  Even if I then moved the file that was causing the problem to a different directory, the project still wouldn't open.
I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has had this or a similar problem, or am I the only one who ever replaces clips on the hard drive that are already loaded into a Premiere project?  I'm used to After Effects which has no problem with you doing this, you just have right-click on the file you've replaced and select "Reload".  I guess I was just expecting Premiere to not have a problem with this as well.

Never overwrite a clip that is used in Pr.  Give the
modified/corrected/updated clip a new name and import that into your Pr
project.  Then Alt+Drag the new clip on top of the old clip in the
timeline to replace the clip instance.
If import-then-drag isn't your style, then right-clicking the original
clip in the Project panel and selecting Replace Footage will accomplish
    the same thing.
This important rule applies in Encore as well.
    -Jeff

  • Why does EVERY attempt to "reject" even a tiny clip freeze the program?

****, I know I am a real neophyte here, but iMovie STINKS. Every little thing causes it to hang up and freeze. Case in point: I (finally) download video from an old camcorder using an analog to digital converter. Importing is easy. God forbid one tries to actually EDIT something, however.
I was going through the clips and "rejecting" snippets here and there (an aside- why not just say "delete" like normal people?) and got to the point that it was time to "move them to the trash. Little did I know what I was in for......
EVERY time I did this the program would "hang" or freeze. If Ii let it go several minutes it would often complete the task, even if the deleted clip was all of half a second--literally. Sometimes it wouldn't work and I had to force quit, while DELETED THE WHOLE DAMNED HOUR I JUST SPENT IMPORTING! What a piece of junk.
Does anyone have any idea what the **** is wrong with this thing? I've updates software and done what little I know how to do. I called Apple and, of course, they admit it pretty much *****. What do we do in the interim? I don't feel like loading the 06 version as some are doing. I barely get the 08 version. Not so sure I feel like doing another one and don't know if it can handle HD video when I try the new Canon 1080i HD camcorder.
    Suggestions? ideas? Thanks in advance.

I think that the entire length of video event is reprocessed, even when a short amount is deleted, so if the clip is long, it takes a long time. I have been very frustrated with this as well, but have noticed that if I walk away from the computer, and come back later it is done (even when the "force quit" shows that imovie O8 is not responding). This is very frustrating, has not been fixed by Apple (I have been complaining since 08 came out), but there still are some advantages.
I am using both iMovie 08 and iMovie HD in processing/archiving old videos (non-digital, which I am transferring using a Canopus ADVC110). What I like about iMovie 08 (despite it's many draw-backs) is that files are saved as quicktime, and I can easily import them into Final Cut Express. Also, the thumbnails make it terribly easy to find the segments you are looking for. Otherwise, iMovie HD is better.

  • Missing Tiny Parts Near Latch -- Any ideas?

    Hi all --
Well, after about nine months of virtually flawless operation, my beloved PowerBook has suffered its first (albeit minor) injury:
You know how there are four little bits of plastic (rubber?) around the top edge of the display that serve to prevent the screen from touching the keys when the display is closed -- I'm talking about the pieces of plastic (rubber?) about a little less than a quarter of an inch long, one located near each top corner of the display on the sides, and two located on either side of the latch mechanism --
Well, the two located near the latch mechanism are missing in action and presumed lost, and I am wondering whether anyone out there has experienced this problem before and, if so, what they did to remedy it? Are those parts available from Apple online, by phone at a local Apple Store or AASP? Are those little parts even all that necessary given that the other two (the ones near each top corner, on the sides of the display) are still in place?
And yes, I know that I can call Apple and those other places, and I will, I'm just wondering if anyone else has already been down this road and might be able to help me navigate it a little better.
Thanks & Happy New Year to all.
    -- JDee

And A Happy & Healthy New Year to you Jrsy! And to you as well John.
I had seen that iBook thread, but the "bumpers" on the iBook are different than the PowerBook's little screen protector chicklets. The iBook has two little circular rubber pads, one in each of the two top corners of the screen. They're nice-sized little circular buttons of rubber.
The PB, on the other hand, has these tiny (easily lost, it turns out) little quarter-inch pieces of rectangular rubber, one on each side of the left and right top corners of the screen, and one on each side of the latch mechanism in the center of the top side of the screen.
I actually had the one on the left side of the latch fall off a few weeks back, but I was somehow able to find it (as it had miraculously landed in between the F keys and the top edge of my keyboard). (Well, perhaps "miraculously" is a little strong given the subject matter, but it was lucky.) Using a tweezer and some deft hand-eye coordination I was able to put it back in its place (albeit, I now realize, only temporarily).
To the extent anyone's curious, those little pieces of rubber (or whatever) are largely hollow, except for one end which has a little, tiny cylindrical piece of rubber on it. Underneath, where it affixes to the PB, is a corresponding inverse shape, i.e., a little, tiny circular indentation where the cylindrical piece fits and a little, tiny rectangular piece that fits into the hollow rectangular portion of the rubber screen saver thingy. I can see the undercarriage now for both pieces, so I know they are lost and not merely "pushed into the lid assembly" as John had suggested.
Pheew. That was hard to describe. And, I would imagine, soporific for anyone still actually reading this post. So, it's definitely time to sign off, but first I thank you and John for your kind attempts to help.
Looks like I'll have to deal with AppleCare on this one (or perhaps pay a visit to Tek Serve or that shop near University Ave. that the T man recommended a while back, if I can remember it's name), but I think I'll wait a little while until the post holiday rush is over to do so.
For the time being, notwithstanding the lost of those tiny, mini, micro parts, elegant, sleek, and sexy high-powered and creative computing remains the order of the day.
    Thanks again.
