Missing Toolbar icons Dreamweaver CS3 Mac

Hi Folks, new to this forum so apologies if asked before.
have installed trial download of Dreamweaver CS3 on my Mac
(G5 running OS X.4).
Dreamweaver opens up but all of the toolbox icons are missing
and are replaced with a generic 'broken icon' type. Similarly if an
image is inserted onto the 'work area' it does not show up but
again is a 'broken icon' of a simlar type.
Strangely enough the downloaded trial of CS3 works fine on my
Win XP laptop, but on the Mac .... no go..
Any clues or answers anyone. BTW all other CS3 apps work
absolutely fine.
Thanks
Rob

Thanks again ofr that tip and link to the 'clean' file.
Still no better I am afraid.
I tried all of the methods associated with this file,
including the 'script' which did remove all traces, including
preference files, of DW CS3. It is almost as if the preference
files refuse to write properly and include information about
displaying the graphics.
Looks like it is definitely an incompatibility with mac OSX.4
BTW, all other CS3 applications display things perfectly. It
is only a Dreamweaver problem.
Have already got DW installed on a PC (Win XP) and that does
not have this display. However as I produce most of the graphics on
the Mac it would have been simper to keep it all on one OS
platform.
thanks

  • Trade Dreamweaver CS3 Mac version for PC version.

    Hello all,
I just mistakenly bought Dreamweaver CS3 Mac edition off of ebay. I need the PC version. Is anyone interested in trading versions or can anyone point me to somewhere that this is possible? Switching editions seems to be fairly common situation, but not possible with older versions.
    Thanks

Not a very helpful answer. Anyway CS3 works fine on Windows 7 64-bit. No reason to spend hundreds on the latest and greatest for me.
Well you are trying to sell it to a place where people own later versions of the software.  As long as the license is good, you may still qualify for the CS6 upgrade at the full retail price because of Adobe's cross-grade policy whereby you pay the upgrade price to switch your license.  Basically you sign a letter of destruction and get the version for the other OS.  Ultimately, Adobe is moving to solve that probelm with the cloud which works on both operating systems.
But I will have to agree with other sentiments. If you want to get rid of it, best place to look is on Ebay as you found it.

When I close dreamweaver cs3 i lose all of my ftp login

Hi. I am experiencing the very same problem. No issues for
years up until recently - but my problems started not long after I
installed the latest upgrade for Mac OS 10.5.4 to 10.5.5 - I am

  • Missing File - Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 with ASP, Coldfusion, and PHP

On page 263 of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 with ASP, Coldfusion,
and PHP by:Jeffrey Bardzel and Bob Flynn the file called
countryDetailXML.asp is missing. How can I find that file? Any
    idea?
    Thanks for your help.

    @citaiz,
That file is created earlier in the lesson in an exercise
starting on page 257. For the sake of the lesson, you can use
countryDetail.xml that is included in the lesson 09 start folder.
It is not important for this lesson that the XML is a static file
or one generated in real time from the database. The version of
Spry (1.4) that shipped with DW CS3 used XML data only. The current
version (1.6.1) can use JSON and HTML tables for the data source as
well. You can get the latest version of Spry for free at
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/,
including an extension to update your copy of DW to the latest
    version.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 (Mac) and Menu Master

Since my work with Dreamweaver involves the very frequent
repetition of certain sequences of steps, I have greatly speeded up
my workflow by recording and storing a number of special commands
accessible via tthe Commands menu. Unfortunately Dreamweaver does
not allow the assignment of keyboard equivalents for user-created
commands, so until now I have relied on the haxie Menu Master to
make good this deficiency. But Menu Msster fails to work properly
with Dreamweaver CS3 for the Mac. I have alerted Unsanity about
this problem, but I don't think they have taken my complaint very
seriously. I suspect that other Dreamweaver users have used Menu
Master for the same purpose. If so, I would appreciate it if you
would contact Unsanity too. A bunch of similar complaints might get
    thier attention.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Mac -- PowerPC vs Intel

    I have Dreamweaver CS3 running on a dual 1.8 Power Mac G5
with 1.5 gigs of RAM, and I think it's a dog. It's so much slower
at everything than DW8 that I find it impractical for daily
use—especially for managing a remote site via FTP. It seems
to work much faster and reliably for my colleagues on Windows XP on
newish PCs, however, I'm wondering if what I need is a new Intel

I just received a brand new MacBook Pro with 2 gigs. I'm
    running CS3 Mac and
Win (with Parallels) I don't like the Mac UI and stuff, but I
    must say that
I'm very impressed with the performance. I've it hooked to a

now I barely use my Desktop PC which is a Core2

  • Dreamweaver CS3 (Mac OS X) Toolbars

Why is it that even when I save my workspaces, whenever I reopen Dreamweaver, my Toolbars have always disappeared and I have to go through the menus to show them again?
I know it's only a small trivial thing, but it is so frustrating and annoying. It's making me consider ditching Mac CS3 and booting up my PC for development again.
Is there any way to stop this happening?

DW CS3 of Mac (OSX 10.5.6) Was working fine yesterday. Today
it freezes when it says in the green launching /startupbox "Loading

Whats going on? I just performed maint. utilities w/Onyx

    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Try opening up your user account->Library->Preferences
and then search for Dreamweaver. Delete the .plist file and restart
DW. It will take longer for DW to start up the next time around
because the Mac OS will need to create a new preferences file. See
    if this helps.

  • Missing toolbar icons

    Hi, there,
When I open my helpset from my Java applet (which is put on a server), the toolbar buttons (back, forward, print,..) are displayed without the original icons.
They still function correctly, but the images are not shown. The buttons are in gray. However, they work fine (the icons are shown) when I tested the applet in netbeans.
Anyone knows how to solve it? Thanks.

    Should have been more specific..
    this is v919, on Win2000...
Problem is, it's not consistent - sometimes the icons are there, sometimes not, and I haven't pinpointed what it is that will determine the behaviour.
Anyone else seen the same problem? It was pointed out to me by someone else in my team...

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Mac: Slow FTP

FTP connect is super slow on my Intel iMac.  I have both DW8 and DW CS3, and both intermittently produce long delays while uploading files.  Sometimes files will upload in 2-3 seconds, other times I'll sit and wait for 45-60 seconds for an upload to finish.  Sometimes the upload fails entirely.  I've changed every site related setting (and tried every imaginable combination), turned off external file display and all invisible items display, but I can't get reliable upload speeds.
The crazy thing is that while DW is sitting there, I can manually fire up Terminal, type my connect to FTP server info, manually copy and paste my username and password, type my cd and lcd info, type my put with file name, and the file transfer is done before DW finishes.  Of course I don't want to be forced to use Terminal for something that's built into DW, and I don't want to switch to Finder and Fetch every time either.  If anyone has suggestions on what else I might try I'd be most grateful (especially if one of the suggestions works!).

I've been struggling with this problem for months, and during that time contacted Network Solutions repeatedly to try to determine the source of the problem. They won't put you in direct contact with a person who actually knows anything, but instead "escalate" issues to techs, who then send copy/paste form letters 2-3 days later saying everything's fine.
After running every diagnostic imaginable, and even reinstalling my OS, I decided to open a test account with Godaddy.com.  They got me set up in minutes, and FTP response in DW was immediate, as it should be.  Due to the fact that Network Solutions didn't lift a finger to help resolve this FTP problem that was apparently on their end the whole time, as well as numerous other problems I've been reporting for weeks, I've dropped them.  I'm very happy with Godaddy so far, and FTP has been glorious since I switched.  They even offer customer service in my native tongue, English.  Imagine that.

  • Show file path in title bar CS3 Mac

Hi All, Is there a setting to make Dreamweaver CS3 Mac to
show the full path to the file in the title bar within Dreamweaver
Code View? Right now it only shows the name of the file. I work on
very complex web applications, and not having quick access to where
the file can be found is extremely frustrating, and may cause me to
use a different editor. Please someone tell me there is a fix for

There is a widget in the code view toolbar that shows you
    this information
    for all open files.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 stops, with blank registration screen

Today I started to work with Dreamweaver CS3 Mac, It opened fine until a registration screen appeared, on top of everything.
The screen is blank but I remembered that sometimes Dreamweaver asks me to register. I always say: Later!
But now, I cannot work! The screen is blank and stays on top of everything that is grey highlighted.
    The things I did:
    - deleted cache file
    - delete Configuration map
    - installed Dreamweaver from the CD DVD
Furthermore I changed my password from my Adobe ID (because of the security flaw there has been)

    3. You'll get an error screen, click "never register."

I have the serial for our copy of it, but we can't find the disc, and Adobe shows that we registered is over 4 years ago so it's real.

  • Who uses Dreamweaver CS3 on Mac OS X?

    Howdy,
I'm curious to know how many of you here use Dreamweaver CS3
on the Mac? Not bothered bout you Windows users, I've used it on
there and it's fine (although bulky and slow).
I made the switch to mac a long while back, and coming from
Windows and HomeSite (oh how much I love homesite!!!) the natural
move was to go to Dreamweaver. So I bought a retail copy (along
with PhotoShop CS3) for quite a bit of cash, and I don't use CS3 as
its pretty damn awful on OSX!
By the way, I NEVER touch the WYSIWYG part of Dreamweaver
(wish I could delete all WYSIWYG stuff from it, as that what slows
    it down I'm sure)
To name a few bugs (I'd like to know if you experience these
    too):
    1. It's very slow and bulky, I mean just moving the cursor to
a new line in code view is slow, just doesn't feel good. It
actually feels like its about to crash on me any minute! And I'm on
a 6GB 8 cOre 2.8GHz Mac Pro... so its not my Mac :)
    2. I set my toolbars up to my own preference (i.e. I like to
have the "Standard" menu showing and the "Document" one not) then
suddenly out of the blue "Standard" has gone and the "Document" one
is there. Sometimes I boot up and all is good, open a document and
it disappears (along with the line numbers on the left), right
clicking says its still there but it isn't.
    3. Certain folders on the left file view REFUSE to close! I
collapse them, open another folder up (uncollapse) and what do you
know, the other folder pops open again. Close and open dreamweaver
its open again... I've never manged to close this particular
folder, dreamweaver really likes it for some reason?
There are plenty more, but they are the main ones!
The unfortunate thing is I cannot find a good alternative on
OS X for syntax highlighting, the fact that HTML elements are
coloured differently is invaluable to me, and thats one of the main
things I love bout Dreamweaver (not to mention the global replace
feature that other IDE's don't include)?
Bring HomeSite to OS X is what I say :)
What is your experience of DW CS3 on OS X? Does it all work
correclty for you? Or are you annoyed by it too?

I plotted my escape from Microsoft for years before I finally
    knew
enough about software and the technologies I was using and
    had
sufficient money to make the leap. (I went for a top of the
    line MacBook
    Pro.)
On the negative side, I've learned that the Mac isn't a free
    ride.
Upgrading to Leopard was a wrestling match, as was upgrading
    to Adobe
Creative Suite (largely because certain sales people sold me
    the wrong
upgrade package - twice). I'm also bothered by a number of
    annoyances
that sometimes remind me of my Windows PC.
However, I'm working with a far greater variety of software
    programs
than I ever had on my PC, and the annoyances seldom turn into
    the minor
catastrophes that made life with M$ living Hell.
So far, Dreamweaver is working fine for me. The biggest
    annoyance is the
fact that it likes to jump back and forth between "Spaces,"
    though
Spaces remains my favorite Leopard feature.
I'm sorry you're having problems with yours - and I was
    shocked to hear
that that Rosetta crap also applies to Dreamweaver. I'd never
    heard of
Rosetta until I had some problems with my browsers. Enabling
    Rosetta
fixed the problem, but, sheez - all that Rosetta business
    sounds like
something that came straight from Bill Gates' living room. So
    I'm not
sure if the problem ultimately rests with Adobe, Mac OS X or
    both.
Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the situation to
    advise you.
However, if you live near a sizeable Apple store, schedule an
appointment with their "Mac Geniuses." I've gone in to see
    them at 7
a.m. a couple times - free of charge - and they were a big
    help.
If you're using Leopard, I assume you've already installed
    the two
updates - 10.5.1 and 10.5.2. Ironically, the second update
    appeared to
create one of the very problems it's supposed to eliminate.
    (Whether or
not it's actually a problem is a matter of debate in the Mac
    community;
it hasn't actually caused any problems for me.)
You might also try posting some questions on Apple's forums -
    http://discussions.apple.com.
If nothing works, and you do go back to M$, I certainly
    wouldn't hold it
against you. If Apple and/or Adobe don't have their act
    together, then
you can't blame people for returning to a platform that
    works. However,
I have much greater confidence in both Apple and Adobe to fix
    their
problems in the long run than I do in Microsoft. Even if you
    get
Dreamweaver to work on your PC, will your other software
    programs work?
In summary, I've learned that there's no free ride in
    computing. But I
still prefer my Mac to M$, and I don't believe I've heard as
    many
complaints about Dreamweaver on a Mac as I have about Vista.
    But do
    whatever's best for you.
