Missing track information over Airplay

I use AirPlay to stream my iTunes music library from a Mac mini acting as a media server, to a Denon RCD-N7 (with AirPlay update). This worked perfectly, including all of the information about the current track being displayed on the Denon. However, after upgrading iTunes to 10.6.1, the track information is no longer displayed, or is displayed incorrectly and incomplete, that is, either:
only the AirPlay logo is displayed, or
only the artist name for the previous track and the AirPlay logo are displayed
If I toggle the AirPlay setting in iTunes between 'Computer' and 'Denon RCD-N7', I can get the artist name of the current track to display, but it doesn't get changed when the next track is played.
Has anybody else seen this kind of problem, and if so can you advise how to fix it?
Thanks,
North

This turned out to be a problem with the Denon RCD-N7, not with iTunes or AirPlay. Fully powering down the RCD-N7 down (i.e. unplugging the power cable) then restarting it, resolved the problem.

  • I am missing track information

Using Logic Express, I set up a new song file with 7 tracks to record simultaneously.  We set up inputs and got our levels down, then started recording.  We listened to each recording after to make sure we liked how everything was sounding.  I saved the file.  Then I chose "Save As.." to create a new file for the next song.  When that song came up, I would delete the tracks, and then we'd start on a new song.  Now when I open most (but not all) of the songs recorded, a warning box pops up that says AUDIO FILE NOT FOUND.  and if I choose Skip, then the file opens with tracks shown to proper length, but no waveform on each track.  I looked in the folder where the Audio Files were being saved, and many of them are missing.  They are not located elsewhere on my computer.  They are not in the trash.  I think I might have just lost a week of work and a day of recording with a full band.  I am sick.
Would the computer delete the track files even though they are still being used for a previous song file?

    If you
    a) still have the original iTunes folder on the source computer
    and
    b) have the same version of iTunes installed on each computer
you can simply copy the entire iTunes folder from the Music folder on the host machine to the same place on the new machine. This duplicated your library exactly, including ratings, playlists etc.

  • Missing tracking information after restarting Color 1.5.1

    Hi,
when I do trackings for grades in the Secondary, all works fine. But when I close Color, and open the project with the trackings again, all trackings are lost and In and Out point of the tracking are on the same position (the tracking has a red flag, instead of green). I don't think that I make something wrong, I work since Final Touch with this software and I think its a bug in this release.
Has anyone the same problems or works it?
    Thanks,
    Michael

Apple works on ProApps on a very low priority basis. And _no one_ ever knows when an update may be released.
To be perfectly honest, tracking in COLOR is not that good; its only single point, you wind up having to animate the shape anyway, and keyframes are probably better. Personally, I might have used the tracker about 2 or 3 times in the past 5 years? And then rendered right away, so this is a non-issue for me, and, judging by the traffic, very few others. And that's going to be Apples assessment, as well.
So, if it is vital to you, then by all means, USE that *Send feedback to Apple* button.
It will never be addressed otherwise.

  • Track Information Lost on Upload

I am having problems when I upload tracks into iTunesU. The track information (tags) and getting messed up. This results in files being listed out of order in iTunes U as well as resulting in missing track information upon download. Anyone else have this problem and or a solution?

It sounds similiar to a problem I was having, and Apple's been looking at it. In my case, the problem occurs if I:
    1) Create the file in Audacity (and open source recorder)
    2) Add the ID3 tags in Audacity.
    3) Further edit the tags in iTunes.
    4) Upload the file to iTunes U.
I've also had the problem occur when I've exported a file without ID3 tags to iTunes and then made the edit in iTunes. In every case, iTunes has seen the ID3 tags locally, but once uploaded, iTunes U loses all the track information. Unfortunately, it's not consistent -- Friday I did a bunch of tests and it wouldn't upload track information; I did the another round yesterday and it worked fine.
This didn't happen when I recorded a file using GarageBand, exported it to iTunes to edit the ID3 tags, and then uploaded to iTunes U.
I did notice that when I edited the ID3 tags using another program (like this one and then uploaded it, all the track information appeared.
What program(s) are you using to create the content and edit the track information, and what's your workflow for those programs? And what kind of files are you trying to upload (mp3, m4a, mov, etc.)

  • List View shows all tracks of CD, grid view is missing tracks

I imported all my CDs into my iTunes library over the holidays. Over 40 GB of music. Now, I discover a flakey problem. On a CD, if I view via list view, the library shows 13 tracks. When switching to grid view and double-clicking on album, it shows tracks 1,2,4,6,9,12
When I use windows explorer, the iTunes folder only shows tracks 1,2,4,6,9,12. Yet I can play all 13 tracks on PC and iPod. Where are the 'missing' tracks being stored and why don't they show in both views? This is happening on quite a lot of the CDs that were imported, but others are fine.

This is most likely due to the content of the ID3 tags in the imported files. If a track features more than one artist, iTunes uses the first artist in the list to sort and organise the files. So one or more files imported from a CD might be stored in another artist's folder. iTunes plays the full album because it knows where all the tracks are (by virtue of the iTunes library database).
To get around this problem, edit the information for all the tracks on an album so the the "Artist" tag has the main artist first in the list.

  • Unable to update iTunes track information

So I recently got an iPod, and I decided to take my existing MP3's I have ripped over the years from my CD's and import them into iTunes and get my iPod loaded up.
Upon doing this, everything worked fine... I dragged and dropped my MP3's straight onto iTunes and let it sit for a few hours.
Now I'm trying to go in and fill in some missing/incorrect information on my files (add track info, number of discs in album, etc.) and I find that I am not able to on my older MP3's.
The MP3's say according to iTunes that they are version 2.3 of the ID3 tag. When I try to change one or multiple track information, it just simply doesn't change after I click OK.
I also noticed that I can't convert my ID3 tags when I choose the option. I get the message "Could not convert ID3 tags for all of the selected songs. The song may be write-protected or of the wrong type."
From what I can surmise, all of the MP3's I ripped a long, long time ago with MusicMatch are giving me the problem. I haven't used that program in ages. I was able to change song info with a rip of a CD which I believe was done by Windows Media Player.
How can I get these MP3's to work so I can change the song information in iTunes without going back through all my CD's and rerip them directly into iTunes? That would be a huge pain.
    Thanks.
    Andre

You'll want to right click on your "iTunes Music" folder (My Music\iTunes\iTunes Library\iTunes Music) and choose Properties. Once XP/Vista shows the property window, at the bottom of that window in the Attributes section. You want to clear out any checkmark or grayness in that and it will go through your music files and clear your read only attribute.
If that doesn't work, you'll want to look at the Security tab in that same box and make sure that the user you are logged in as has "modify" rights to the music files.

It was an expensive item (well for me, over $300.) For some reason I checked the tracking one morning..... and  had a melt down when I saw it had supposedly been "delivered" the day before. I'd been at home the day before and no postie had delivered anything. In the heart of an Ottawa winter, there I was outside, looking for the parcel in our the garden. Digging through mounds of snow ...a sorry sight. Well guess what? It was delivered without a problem within a day or two of the  premature "delivered" tracking info. I hope yours will arrive on Monday. • And is there a way to preserve track information during editing process?

Because I'm editing the gaps out of all the songs in my iTunes library, I'm spending tons of time re-entering the track information (Name, Artist, Genre, etc.) on every song, and also dragging the album art to the edited version.
It would be nice if I could just paste the edited song in place of the original in the iTunes library or, even better, drag and drop the whole row of info from the original into the cells for the edited version, much in the way that rows of data tables can be copied and pasted.
    Is this possible?

Whoa — I discovered the solution to my problem in, of all places, the iTunes File Menu under Get Info > Options. There (unmentioned in Apple's Help topics) is a place where you can set the start and stop times of songs to skip over any moments of silence — and don't have to edit the songs at all!
This isn't as elegant as cross-fading, but it's good enough for 90 percent of my music. For those occasional songs that do need some refining, I can make do with the more tedious editing process that I described in this forum.
Too bad I didn't find this solution before processing more than a hundred songs the hard way! But thank goodness I won't have to do that anymore.

  • HT204406 Trying to copy a cd I own and this same cd is in the itunes store. Itunes will not autofill the track information

The album is Voxis - Darkeworld. I'm trying to copy this album into Itunes and Itunes will NOT auto fill any of the Information. I did check in the itunes store and the album is there. The digital copy is missing tracks 22-95.

iTunes gets track information for imported CDs from Gracenote, not the iTunes Store. Go to the General preferences in iTunes and make sure that the option to automatically retrieve track names is checked. If it is, it's possible that Gracenote doesn't have that CD in their database, or can't correctly identify and match up the CD. Your system or network may also be blocking access to Gracenote in the firewall.

I'm sure the problem is sweat getting into the apple supplied headphone "remote." Basically even the smallest drop can slide down the wire and get into the unit.
Unfortunately I haven't found a solution other than to get a Belkin remote adapter and some sport headphones. This doesn't give you voice over, but you can still control the volume, skip, etc.
I've been doing this for a couple weeks now and it hasn't had a freak out since.

  • HT4914 missing tracks (broken file limatching iTunes?

I have some missing tracks (broken file links) in itunes, will these sync with iTunes match?

Reply to self: I ultimately did speak to a sympathetic iTunes support staff.  But, I figured it out just by talking iot through with him.  For reasons that remain unknown, large swaths of my library were "hidden" by Windows.  Unhiding and clicking to apply to sub-folders does not function as intended.  The Microsoft support personal left it with clicking on every single file and unhiding.  But I did ultimately unhide everything by using the HIDDEN parameter in Windows Search, which makes available all files for group clicking "Off" the hidden feature.  Unfortunately. major library damage already incurred before all this was figured out.  Albums missing tracks, etc.  With a folder by folder comparison to several backups, I managed to re-create the basic file structures.  I also cleaned the hard disk by shifting old Music backups off the drive so that now there is 769 GB used, 1.16 TB free of a 1.81 TB available hard drive.  Rebuilt the library using the latest download available 9/25/2012.  Have gone through the shifting of the directory structure out of iTunes/iTunes Media to just iTunes.  A shift which I approve of but a warning would have been nice.  Have gone through the varisous corrections to Compilations, Music Videos, Audiobooks which are clearly tagged incorrectly as iTunes cannot rebuild to previous specs.  And now I am stuck with  ERROR, ITUNES LIBRARY CANNOT BE SAVED, -50.  Continuing to iognore the message results in a "Not Responding" iTunes, with a required force shutdown.  I have used the File, Library, Organize feature several times today.  Weeks of effort and I am right back where I started.  Steve would be turning over in his grave, where's Apple's perfection?  Customers are begging for alternatives and I've just joined their ranks.  I want and love my media library but my life is not structured to this type of time committment.

  • Why can't itunes stream movie audio over airplay?

This is more a suggestion to Apple engineers rather than a request for assistance but any comments in support (or otherwise) are welcome.
So, it goes like this, I use my iMac as my TV, entertainment centre, etc at home and I stream audio from there to an Airport Express hooked up to my stereo. Using Airplay in iTunes and third party apps like Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil this works for just about anything: my music library, live TV through EyeTV and non DRM movies...but I like to download rental movies from iTunes and for some reason I can't stream audio from iTunes movies. I understand that this is a documented limitation of iTunes and Airplay, and there can be some issues with audio and video getting out of sync due to the buffering, but if Airfoil can do it, why not iTunes? The Airfoil video player is pretty basic, but it compensates for the buffering delay without any problems, and I can even use VLC to manually add a delay into the video track.
Would it be possible to include this as part of a future iTunes update? I mean, I'd much rather rent movies legitimately through iTunes than resort to other more nefarious means to be able to enjoy watching movies on my Mac. What's more, I have this pathological antipathy toward hooking things up with cables, so Airplay is the perfect solution for me and loads of other people as well, I'm sure.
So come on Apple, show you really do care about Airplay and let iTunes stream the movie audio so that I can enjoy my entertainment in High Fidelity.
    Thanks,
    Joe.

    Well, here's some good news!
Looks like a feature of Mountain lion that didn't make the front page solves my problem. To get movie audio over Airplay, on OSX 10.8 go to Audio and MIDI Setup app, make sure you have the Audio Setup window open (Window - Show Audio Window) and if your Airport or other Airplay device is online it should appear in the list of audio IO devices on the left hand side.
Right click on the Airplay icon and select "Use this Device For Sound Output" and away you go. iTunes (10.7 at least) seems to be smart enough to realise that it is playing audio to a streaming device and buffers the video accordingly. Viola! Glorious hifi sound sans wires.

  • Can I recconect missing tracks this way?

When I setup i Tunes on my new PC & went to connect it to the library I found that many hundreds of songs are listed as can't be found. I know that the songs are there & I can reconnect them one at a time successfully but this is very slow when there are so many to do. I'm wondering it there is another way.
For instance can i Tunes give me a list of every unconnected track so that I can delete these false references all at once?
If I can do that first step what would happen if I were then to tell i Tunes to import every track again. I know that it would find the missing tracks but would then then be duplicated? Would these tracks still have any data that had been corrected?
Would using that TuneUp program for i Tunes help in doing this?

I finally have the programing running. I looked at the different tabs & saw that none were unconnected. Since I knew that many tracks are unconnected & not being seen by i Tunes I altered the route to my i Tunes library within iTWF so that both programs were looking at he same files.
This time the results were quite surprising since it listed 5210 tracks and this is about 20 more than i Tunes reports at the bottom of the page when I open the program. This seems wrong & impossible. Where did it go wrong?
Even if this had reported a reasonable number of unconnected tracks I'm still wondering how to fix the problem. I had suggested that perhaps I could delete all unlinked tracks & then add all of the tracks listed in the i Tunes folder. What would the results be of doing this? What if I deleted ever track currently in library & then added all tracks in again? (All tracks are from my CD's & don't have copy protection) Would this result in duplicates & would the program still pick up the revised information that I had entered re track name, album name etc. as well as album covers?
