Missing Video & Audio transitions in FPC 4.5

Hello I recently replaced my HD and reinstalled all my Apps. After downlaoding 2 hrs of video on my scratch drive and getting ready to edit I noticed my effects tab is missing and when I look in the menu under effects (specifically video and audio transitions ) they are all greyed out as if unavailable ( which they are ). I reinstalled FPC and ran the SW updates and reopened the project but there are still no video and audio transition effects available.
Can any one help pleaase.
Many thanks.

There's a way to get it back. Just can't remember off the top of my head. I'll be back in the office tomorrow and see if I can figure it out. but in the meantime.... Is there an item in the windows menu (if there is a windows menu) for effects. If so, call it up and then drag it back into the browser. Worst case scenario, get fcprescue (do a search here and make sure you get the correct version for fpc 4.5) and delete the preferences. The effects tab in the browser will return as it's part of the default preferences.

  • Audio transitions missing when combining sequences - Premiere CC 8.1 Caravan

Audio effects not following when one sequence is pasted into another - Premiere CC 8.1 Caravan
When I finish sequences "A," "B," and "C," and I wish to make a new sequence (sequence "D") that has parts of sequence A, B, and C, I load any of the three sequences into the source monitor and then use the insert/overwrite to paste into sequence D.  When playing A, B, or C in the source monitor, everything sounds fine.  When I insert (or overlay) those segments into new sequence "D," audio transitions (such as exponential audio transitions to fade in/out music) are missing.  So on sequence "D," any audio transitions from sequences A, B, or C do not follow.
I just confirmed that this problem does not exist in Premiere CS6.  All audio transitions follow from one sequence that is pasted into another.
In CC, I re-created the problem by putting an exponential fade in and fade out on a clip of music on sequence A, and it works just fine.  I then pasted that sequence into sequence D.  At the point of the transition, the music does not fade in at the beginning, but just stays muted until after the fade-in transition, then pops in full.  Then at the fade out, the audio does fade, but it is full of digital static.
I did this same test in CS6 (same machine) and everything works fine.  All transitions and effects are perfect.
I just noted this the other day when creating a highlight sequence of a documentary we are producing.  I noticed that sound bites were cutting in abruptly.  This is a serious problem.
Can anyone else recreate this issue?

    Hey KMueller - neat thinking.
Before reporting - I did try the drag / drop, then the import, then the media browser options and they all ended up the same.
Using your idea, I just straight forward made a copy / paste of the file in the folder it sits in, then dragged that over and hey presto - it came in with audio...
The icon representing the original file says video only still - but the icon representing the "copy" of the same file has a video & audio icon - and it plays ball on the timeline.
    Thanks

  • Audio transitions missing from CS6 for mac

When I go in the effects window and click on the audio transition bin nothing appears.
Are the files there but because of a glitch i cant see them or are the files missing?
I guess I need to get something to fix the glitch if that or where can i find the missing files to download?
Oh and I added Adobe premiere pro CS6 through a download through amazon.com

I have this too and I haven't been able to find any info on the net about this.
I have no audio transitions or effects at all.  Would love to find out how to fix this.

  • APP CS5 - missing Video Transitions

I have been using APP 2.0 for several years and am now beginning to use APP CS5.
I noticed that the GPU Video Transitions are no longer in CS5, which included
Card Flip and Center Peel and Page Curl and Page Roll and Sphere.  Can anyone confirm that these GPU video transitions are in fact
    not present in APP CS5?
    Thanks so much,
    Angela

I did purchase the Pixelan transitions, but still miss the GPU transitions that were in APP 2.0.
Does anyone have any recommendations of other transitions that I can aquire/purchase that are similar to the APP 2.0 GPU transitions?
Or, is there anyway to download those APP 2.0 GPU transitions into APP CS5?
    Thanks,
    Angela

BUG: Speed Change + Audio Transition = No Audio-Video Sync
If you change the speed of clips (125%) and make an audio transition between them (power), the audio runs out of sync. The longer the transition, the more out of sync.

  • How can i add an audio transition?

Adding an audio transition, basic for an editor, is impossible with fcpx??
Or video, or video and audio or nothing???
I've an interview and i need a 2 frames audio transition to eliminate the distorsion on the cut, the famous "click"...the only way is to do a split cut and to move the audio handles?...i think it's crazy, when on FCP7 was only a right click!!!!

We wont to talk about the trim? The famous beautifull New trim interface??
No play around the cut to review the trim, and no possibility to trim going in play!
Match Frame (if it is what you think it is -- try it and let me know) is now called "Reveal in Event Browser" and is available in the "Clip Menu."
I think the shortcut for play-around the edit point is now shift-? (question mark). There are preferences to control the length but they are broken -- it's a known bug.
yeah, the precision editor while pretty seems a bit lacking in practical usage at this point.

  • Audio Transitions not working properly in Final Cut Pro 5.1.4

I am noticing that I can't change the audio transitions on the timeline as I used to be able to do. Now I get a prompt to go to the Browser and select the audio transitions there which is not how I've done it previously. Before, I just clicked on the timeline audio clip, made a transition and then typed the duration of the transition in the Viewer. So, I'm wondering if I should trash the plist for FCP or do something else? The video transitions seem to work fine as they always have.
    Thanks for any help!

Let me explain this better. When I click on an audio clip in the timeline I get this prompt:
No default transition to add. Please set a default transition in the Effects Tab in the Browser before performing this command.
I've never had to do this before, so I wonder if anyone knows why this suddenly is happening?

  • How to create an audio transition

It may be my ears to blame, but I cannot hear any difference whatever, with any of the audio transitions.  Further, I don't see any way to make adjustments in the adjustment panel either... or don't understand how to use it possibly.
To get serious fading I have to resort to the rubberband technique and end up setting 4 keyframs.
Am I just not understanding how to use the supplied audio transitions... should I hear some really noticable change if I use one, or not.
Maybe I need to make my own, but I could use a little help on that.  I'd like to end up with a serious dip in volume as the cursor crosses from one clip to another.
Its a real time sync if you have a lot of clips, to have to set and adjust 4 keyframes at each junction.

    Harry,
It sounds like you want the equivalent of an audio "dip to black"; in other words, you want the outgoing audio to ride from 100% volume down to 0% volume, and then the incoming audio to ride from 0% back to 100% volume. Unfortunately, there is no built-in audio transition that does this--they all function as crossfades with the volume from both audio clips being mixed during the entire duration of the transition.
Thankfully, there's a pretty easy and versatile solution, though it does involve a little setup legwork on your part. When in doubt, roll yer own
Drop an audio clip or a video clip with audio into a sequence, and go to the beginning of the clip.
With the clip selected, create a fade in using two volume keyframes, to the duration you desire. You already mentioned that you know how to rubberband the volume, and that's all you're doing here. You can either set this up in your sequence, or the effects control panel, whichever is easier for you. You can also Control+click the keyframes to turn them into Bezier keyframes, so that you can ease in and out of the keyframes, if you like.
In the effects control panel, under Audio Effects, right-click on the word "Volume", and select "Save Preset". In the dialog that appears, name your preset (i.e. Volume Fade In 1 second), select Anchor to In Point, and add a description if you like. When you hit OK, the preset will be saved in your effects bin under Presets, where you can categorize them later.
With this done, select the keyframes you created and delete them, or toggle the stop watch on and off to remove the keyframes. If you do the latter, you'll need to hit the keyframe button to remove the keyframe that is automatically keyframed.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 above but instead of creating a fade in, create a fade out using the same techniques. Save the preset again using the same procedure, but selected Anchor to Out Point, and change the name to reflect that it's a fade out.
You'll now have two custom fades in your Presets bin. You can select all of your clips that you want to apply the fades to and drag first one preset and then the other onto all of the selected clips. The reason you need to create two presets instead of one is because you probably want to maintain the duration of your fades, and the only way you can do this is to select the "Anchor to" options. If you created a fade in and fade out on one clip and selected Scale, the duration of the fades would be based on the duration of the clip; not likely what you want.
    Hope that helps a bit...

  • "Dip to black" audio transition?

Anyone know where I could find an audio transition that will do basically the same thing as a dip to color video transition? Just need one clips audio to fade out, then the next one fade in.

Actually, if you spent more time with the manuals and software, we might not need to look at this post.
Notice that FCP gives you 2 default audio transitions - crossfades ( +3db, or 0db). Choose 0bd. It's also in the browser under effects, drag it from there. This should give you what you want but it's not ideal by far, needs rendering and avoids keyframing, which is pretty crucial to editing.
If you feel static it's probably because people read posts and wonder how someone can edit a sequence and not know these things.
    Peace

  • When I automate to sequence I get no audio transitions.

I am working with clips from my Sony PMW-200. When I automate a bunch of clips to sequence the video transitions are there, but no audio transitions. I have been using Premiere Pro for years and this has never happened to me before.

When Premiere is acting weird: reboot computer then hold down shift+alt while opening Premiere.
    See if that will help.

  • Audio transitions adjust on both sides of cut

I am new to cloud. In my previous versions of Premiere Pro, CS5 and beyond, when I would adjust how far the audio transition (e.g. constant power) goes into a clip it would simply only apply to the side I clicked on. On the CC version it adjusts both sides of the transition. Is there a way to disable that/turn it off permanently (just for audio and/or video too), or a keyboard shortcut to use when I click and drag the transition?

Shift did it, I think I tried everything but that one before I inquired, lol, thanks!

  • FCP6 - Can't copy audio transitions anymore?

When I upgraded to FCS2 all of a sudden I can no longer copy audio transitions from on edit to another using the option-click and drag method. This is very frustrating because I need to do this all the time.
Am I missing some kind of setting or something new in FCP6?

    Yup, there are handles.
I have a hot key setup that adds a 5frm crossfade to audio edits. So I'll click to highlight a audio edit, hit the hot key, and a trans is added to the edit. Usually there's not an issue because the A1 and A2 clips are a sterio pair and a crossfade is added to both clips, however, when the stereo pair is toggled off for the pair of clips clicking the edit only highlights one of the clips (usually A1). I then hit the key to add the trans and that's where I cannot option-click and copy the A1 trans to the A2 clips (which contains the exact same media as the A1 clip).

  • Audio transitions in Final Cut Express--Not Allowing

I'm trying to drag and drop an audio transition (specifically, Cross Fade 0dB) in between two mp3s that I imported into Final Cut Express and which currently reside on the A1 and A2 audio tracks. When I attempt to do so, I get an "X" telling me that I can't. I have rendered everything that needs to be rendered, video and audio. What else do I need to do? All honest help appreciated. Screen shot available upon request.

Okay, done...this FCE is a picky b*&ch. Hope it's worth the trouble. It's my first day playing with it, but man, what a friggin' learning curve. Not to brag, but I consider myself gifted when it comes to computers...and this thing is giving me a headache...
While I have your attention, if you don't mind me throwing in an unrelated question, my iTunes has suddenly been experiencing slowdowns. I don't mean 0.5- to 1.0-second slowdowns. I mean 5-second slowdowns where the spinning carousel keeps me from doing anything. How can I research to see if I have inadvertently installed some software that is doing this BS? It is rather irritating!!

  • Audio Transition Glitches - A Different Approach

I have noticed a lot of users are having problems with the audio noise that sometimes arises when you insert transitions. The Apple workaround is to extract the necessary audio and then uncheck the video sound box in the video/audio timeline viewer as this is where the static is caused.
However, this tends to be annoying if you want to either edit or perhaps add further transitions that cut through video where you have already extracted the audio.
Another option is a workaround that I have used constantly in iMovie 3.03. That is to add a title transition (with nothing in it) that floats over the transition where the sound glitch occurs!
    For example
    1. In iMovie HD 5.02, cut the clip before the sound glitch using command-T.
    2. Add a title effect - I tend to use a subtitle as it is usually what I'm working with, but other effects (like centred) work just as well. CLEAR the contents of the title boxes. Make it long enough to cover the audio problems and apply...
    3. You will either get a magnificant solution to your problem (which is especially good as it is an undoable feature by pressing backspace after the clip is highlighted) OR you will get one more sound glitch at the end of the title effect. BUT IF YOU REPEAT THIS PROCESS by adding (and you might as well make the effect as long as possible) title effects throughout the whole project, the amazing thing is that when these effects run together - You get no noise!!!!
Ok, you might get noise if you were unfortunate enough to finish the title effect right on a transition and in this case you obviously need to ensure that you don't do this by varying the length of the transition.
    IN SHORT....
    1. Ignore the problem until you have finished your project.
    2. (Worst case) Add long blank title effects starting at the beginning and continue adding them until you reach the end.
An added advantage is that this beats the endless audio extraction that some of you will otherwise have to do to "fix" this annoying problem.
Anyway I hope this works as well for you as it has done so for me.

I haven't tried this "stitching" (..I extract audio anyway at transitions, so that I can mix more audio into those transitions..), but Lennart has often suggested using 'blank' titles as a means to join clips together when anyone asked if there was a way to merge two clips into one.
    Good detective work!
[..Audio 'spikes' are also removable using Sound Studio or other audio editing software..]
