Missing video thumbnails when transfering video using Browse Me
I use Zen Media Explorer on Vista to transfer and organise my media. I have just noticed when video is transferred using the drag and drop method, a thumbnail doesn't appear in the explorer; all it shows is the generic .wmv icon. However, when transferring using 'Add Media', video files have thumbnails in explorer. This is strange. I like using drag and drop, and like having thumbnails, but i dont want to use 'Add Media' because whenever i transfer files and want it not to be in a folder, it still gets copied to a folder with the same name as the source folder.
Is there a way for 'Add Media' not to automatically create a folder to store transferred files? Or is the a better method of transferring files that doesn't get rid of things such as thumbnails?

I solved the problem!
It has nothing to do with the format of the video. Simply open it in quicktime (not sure if you need pro or not) and click "view - set poster frame." Then save the movie and reimport into itunes. This was probably very simple and I just overlooked it, but I hope this solution helps other people with the same problem!

File names missing from thumbnails when short cut keys are used
Across several Adobe products I use (Photoshop CS3 and CS6, Captivate 5 and 5.5) I don't see filenames under thumbnail images when I use short cut keys to open or save documents. This happens in Windows 7 and Windows XP.
When I use the short cuts the file names don't appear in the document window - all I see is thumbnails with nothing under them.
If I open or save through the menus I don't have this problem.
It doesn't always happen, but occurs maybe 75% of the time. Sometime the file names will appear at first, but if I navigate to another location they disappear. This only happens in the thumbnail view in the window. Other views show the file name but as they don't show the thumbnail aren't as useful when working with images.
Does anyone know what is causing this, and how I get the file names to appear?
ThanksHere's a couple of screenshots of the problem (Photoshop CS4 and Captivate 5.5 running in Windows XP). I have the same problem with Photoshop CS3, and now CS6, running in Windows 7 on another computer. It's not so bad when you can see images, but when you're trying to find folders, or have PSDs that don't thumbnail, then it becomes a nightmare trying to open or save anything.

Missing EXIF data when PRINTING jpeg using Print or Slideshow Module (LR2)
Folks,
Is there a way to have LR2 include EXIF information when you create a JPG via the Print or Slideshow Module? The EXIF data is present if I export via the Library Module.
However, if I "print" a jpeg either under the Slideshow or Print Module, most of the EXIF data particularly the camera info is missing.

JgThanks Bob. I believe I have tried that...when you print to jpeg you have option where to save and I save to same folder and then re-synchronize folder in lightroom. Then I try to synchronized metadata between the original file and the new jpeg but the camera and other exif does not transfer over. The title, caption and copyright does work but your basic info such as camera, ISO, lens, f stop and shutter speed are missing

Java error message when trying to use browser locks phone
I have a Bold 9650 and when I go to the internet, I get an error message that says, "Uncaughtexception:java.lang.illegalArgumentException"
It won't go away from the screen when I click on OK. I can say OK over and over until about 15-30 minutes later when it finally decides to unlock.

In the past this issue was caused by the Yahoo Messenger application. Try this:
1]First delete the application (i.e yahoo messenger). After doing this, you will be asked to reboot and allow it to happen.
2] Once rebooting is done, go to Options > advanced options > applications and then menu > Modules.
3] Scroll down and to the bottom of the modules list, you would be able to see a net_rim_yahoo_messenger module. Remove that also.
4] Again you will be asked to reboot and allow it.
5] Now, install Yahoo Messenger once again.

Is it possible to store a back up on external HD by transfering files using Target Disk Mode?
Dear Apple community,
There's absolutely no way that I'm going to be able to fix my MBP without a clean install. I simply cannot log in and get to my desktop screen after upgrading to Mavericks. So I will have to erase everything and perform a clean install. However, before proceeding with this plan, I'll have to back up my files from my MPB since I cannot use my mac normally, I'll have to back up my files using the Target Disk Mode. I've connected my MPB to another MPB in the past, so I know how the process work. But this time around I won't be able to use another MBP but a MB. I have a few doubts regarding the process especially in what concernd adding an external HD to this equation. So please bear with me and see if you can answer my doubts.
So this is the equipment I'll be working with: my MPB, my friends MacBook (2008) and my 1TB external hard drive.
My basic question is: once I connect my MPB in Target Disk Mode to the MB, I'm sure I'd be able to transfer my files to this MB. But let's say that I don't want to leave my files in this MB (after all it's not my computer) and want to send my files straight to an external HD connected to this MB. Is it possible? If positive, I know that the only FireWire port in the MB is a 400 port. That means my MBP will be connect to the MB using the only FireWire port available in the MB. So I believe that my external HD would have to be connected to the MB with the help of an USB cable. I assume that this will make the transferring process a little slower than if I could count solely on FireWire ports. Slowing the process down is not a problem but could this corrupt any of my files during the transferring process or even damage anything? I assume that would never happen after all it's just digital data, but better safe than sorry, right? What do you think?
Another thought that occurred to me is: let's say I connect my MBP to the MB using the FireWire 400. I'd still have an FireWire 800 port available on my MBP. If I connect my external HD to my MBP (yeah, the one that will be in Target Disk Mode) using that FW 800 port, would my MBP allow this external HD to mount as if it was just another folder/drive in my computer? If positive, theoretically I'd be able to transfer files from my MBP to my external HD manually (by dragging files from folder to folders), right?
I really don't want to transfer my files from the MBP to the MB and then from MB to external HD. That would just take time and I really don't know how much available space I'll find on my friend's MB.
Oh, one last question: when transferring files using Target Disk Mode, do all computers involved in this process gotta have the same OS X version installed or it doesn't matter if e.g one is running Snow Leopard and the other Mavericks?

My PC may randomly power off when using adobe flash video in browser.

a) Temperatures in system are OK.
b) System survived multiple stress tests. Some were focused on PSU, some on CPU, other on memory and other on graphics.

Opera 12 and 20
Browsers were either playing Flash, with chance to power off. When uninstalled Opera requested Adobe Plugin automatically on Youtube.
Internet Explorer 11
If Adobe ActiveX not present, videos on youtube were played via HTML 5 without trouble. When ActiveX installed there was still no trouble, but since I have AMD graphic card, IE requested to enable "AMD steady video plugin". Once enabled there is still some chance to power off the PC.
Catalyst settings:
When AMD steady video is not installed, or is disabled the chance for this behavior is still here.
If installed and enabled, system did not crashed due this.
I tried latest Adobe Flash 12, and previous 11 are causing this. I tried older Catalyst (13.12), and behavior repeats.
Event log:
Empty. it literally looks like when somebody pulls the plug out.
GPU behavior:
Usually last observed thing is that GPU clocks to full frequency for a while, and then to "video frequency" of 501Mhz.
Other behavior:
This behavior is more like to happen when PC is "freshly booted". The longer is running, the longer it took to power off.
The symptoms are confusing to me. The issue is surely at least partially HW related, but bound only to Adobe Flash. No other HW accelerated video codec is causing similar behavior (at least until now).
On the other hand, its clearly bound to Adobe Flash 12 or latest 11, and some Catalyst settings.
Can you recommend me Adobe Flash version which is not using Amd Steady video at all?

I confimed that only Adobe Flash in any browser i tested is causing failure, but I re-think again what components are included in the whole chain. This was happenning even on stock frequencies and voltages, but...
(Data stream arrives from NIC, is transferred to RAM, then CPU picks it up, send it to GPU for (HW accelerated) decompresson , then back to CPU where browser start to manage the data and then back to GPU for displaying)
a) CPU Core failure would cause BSOD, because I have 5 other CPUs to handle the event this way.
b) GPU, NIC or Sound card failure will also lead to BSOD - CPUs will remain active...
c) Memory failure will also lead to BSOD...
There is but single part of my PC, which can cause "Instant Power-Off" symptom. Its Northbridge/L3 cache.
Even when the Stock settings were causing exactly same symptom I focused on manual Bios settings. Yesterday evening (rather today early morning) I found configuration when Flash was stable.
Its not overheating, rather than overload of Northbridge/L3 cache. The amount of transactions between all devices must be tremendous... Therefore I had to customize CPU/NB settings in order to keep Adobe Flash stable. (slightly increase of CPU voltages +0,02v on CPU, 0,05v on NB when compared to stock).
For now I have to re-test those settings for few hours with Flash, and later with stability tests. -
I have an audio problem that when ever I use my Firefox web browser it makes a sharp audible sound similar to a video game gun shot sound effect when ever I go into a new web page? I change to a new site or page a page on a site, I get an audible gunshot ping trpe sound? It happens almost every time. Its very annoying and is driving me nuts???
Any body out there had this happen also or know how to diagnose and fix this type of problem? I would hate to have to delete my whole Firefox program and have to start over again. If that is the case I will probably just scrap it and go on to try Google Chrome instead. I already have GC partially set up. I really have liked Firefox up to this point. recently purchased a new Mac Pro w/ mountain lion 10.8 and I am using my Apple 30 inch monitor. When watching video or browsing certain websites, my monitor will flicker grey and sometimes lock up. Using Photoshop Elements 7 and Premier Elements 8 on a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7 which was upgraded from XP to 7 in December. I had to uninstall both programs in order to do this. I recently reinstalled the programs because I have time now to work with my photos and videos. Last year I started using a Sony Handycam 650 to shoot videos and loaded all videos into Photoshop. Everything was fine. I had thumbnails for all the videos and photos. Now when I import videos from the camera or the hard drive I don't get thumbnails. What I get are blue boxes with a filmstrip on it. They are not the missing file thumbnail. I can play the videos and I can edit but without the thumbnails it is very hard to add any tags. I haven't made any changes to the default settings on the camera since I am a novice with a video camera and the default seemed to work just fine. I looked through several pages in this forum and did not find anything on this problem. Hope someone can help.

Hi frnds...I have a code which transfers images using rmi.....this code works fine.....but if i give a .avi file instead of a .jpeg the file gets transferred to the other machine but it gets corrupt...the size is also the same.....do i have to encode the video ??

When taking video the sound is a loud hiss on the playback (and when transferred/uploaded to computer) drowning out the sound of the video itself. How do I fix this?
I'm using the default camera app with the phone. Happens every time with videos that I take with the camera. does not occur when watching other videos, only videos taken with the phone. and when the video is uploaded to a computer or online, the hiss stays with the video.
I just bought the phone a few months ago, so this is the first time I’ve tried taking video with it. I’ve tested repeatedly to see if its intermittent but it’s constant.
