Missing video transitions in Premiere CS6

Greeting everyone,
It seems that I am missing some 3D motion transition effects in Premiere CS6. I only have Cube Spin and Flip Over, but I know (and have seen) more transitions on other people's installations. I can't seem to find anywhere to download them either. I assumed they came with base CS6, but I don't have them. Where can I download some more? Or how do I restore the ones that I should have?

  • Missing video transitions in Premiere CC

I've only just upgraded to CC from CS6 last week and I've realised there are a LOT of video transitions missing. Now I'm not a big fan of the 'star wipe' and 'barn doors' cheese but I used 'sliding bands' ALL the time for titles for a particular client. Where the devil has it gone!?

The use of terminology like "handcuffs," "theft-rates," "bondage," "greed" strikes me as hostile. Courtesy Webster online: "a: of or relating to an enemy; b:  marked by malevolence: having or showing unfriendly feelings; c: openly opposed or resisting."
I'm a bit stumped by the link you provide. I have not posted to that thread, and the quote you cite is instead from this very thread. Post 12, to be precise. Proceeding on the assumption that the link was simply a mistake on your part but the quote was what you intended to paste, I'd say "the easy way out" would have been to do nothing: let users continue to struggle with the problems caused by the disparity in effects and transitions across platforms. Instead, we opted to address the issue--in the manner we deemed best for the majority of our customers given the realities of deadlines, finite resources, and competing priorities. As it happens, I was directly involved in these decisions. In light of the small number of complaints I've seen in the 7 months since the release of CC2014, I'm comfortable with the choices we made.
But more to the point in light of the point you were attempting to make, I'm utterly baffled at how you think my statement substantiates your hyperbolic assertion that the CC releases of Premiere Pro are untested.
And now back to Oferez307's previously scheduled thread...

  • Missing renderer error in Premiere CS6 plus three more errors

    I just tried to open a saved project and now get a Missing renderer error in Premiere CS6;
"This project was last used with Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA), which is not available on this system. Mercury Playback Engine Software Only will be used"
I then click OK and get a new errror:
The preset used by one or more sequneces in this project requires third party components that could not be located. These sequences will be modified to use a custom sequence setting instead ...."
I then click OK and get the error:
"Adobe Preniere Pro CS6 has stopped working"
This is the same computer thta created the project and nothing physical has cahnged. I reboot try to create a new project and get the error:
"Sorry a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project"
I cant do anything with premiere CS6 at all.
    HELP!

The first two can be solved pretty easy, but won't help much in light of the third.  We need to solve that one first.  Once you get PP to open and remain open with a new project and new sequence, then we can fix the first two.  So...

  • No video playback in premiere CS6 trial

    Hi,
I am trying to use the Adobe Premiere CS6 trial on my laptop but I can't get the video playback to display at all. There is audio playback, just no video. I can get a paused frame to show if I double-click on the playback area but pressing play does not make the video play, only the audio. Stopping the playback displays the latest current frame again.
My laptop's specs are as follows:
    Toshiba notebook
    Intel i7 2.40GHz
    8gb RAM
    500+ gb free space
    Windows 8 64
    Latest Intel display drivers installed
The video files I am importing in my sequence are .mov files, 1920x1088 @ 23 FPS.
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Thanks for your time,
    - Benjamin

thank you. I was crazy trying to solve the problem. I install the drivers
and ..... like magic .... all the problems solve.
    Thank you

  • Considering dumping my iMac for a PC used for DSLR video editing on Premiere CS6. Help!

So I edit mostly 1080p DSLR footage taken from my canon T3i camera. I purchased a 2011 (the latest model) iMac a little over a year ago, upgraded the RAM to 12GB and it has worked reasonably well. I purchased the base model for $1200 which has a quad core i5 processor, 512mb of video ram, and a measly 500gb hard drive. The past couple of days I have come to the realization that I only use Adobe Programs for graphically intensive work (premiere, after effects, etc). I originally bought my iMac for final cut, but FCPX SUCKS and I switched to Premiere CS6 which works like a dream. Anyways, I'm a senior in high school and do lots of video editing (going to major in video production in college). I'm likely going to differ college for a year and continue my video production business (pretty informal) as well as video production internships at a couple companies (so don't suggest that I get a laptop for portability, not an issue). I just shot an entire wedding with 2 DSLR's and the footage takes up over 20% of my hard drive which is unacceptable. This is very troublesome for me and has been clogging up my computer considerably. I have realized it would make a lot of sense to sell my iMac and purchase a PC that's not only faster, but has much more space. I was ideally looking to sell my iMac for $1000, and from that get a better and faster PC setup for my video editing. $200 would be allocated for a 24" 1080p LED 5ms Asus monitor (from newegg) which would leave $800 remaining for the PC. Ideally it'd be nice to have a little cash left over. Some things that sound appealing to me are: an intel i7 quad core proccessor at least 3.0+ Ghz,  16 GB of ram (maybe 8 to start), 1 GB of video RAM (here is where I'm stuck, my Imac had a Radeon 512mb video card in it, but I've heard premiere runs especially well with nVidia CUDA cards? Don't really know too much about this stuff.) I have no idea what type of card to get, and if I would even see a performance upgrade from my iMac. For storage I'd like at least 2TB of space, should I get two seperate 1 TB drives? One for boot and software and another for video files? Anyways, I assume I can benefit from selling my 2011 i5 iMac to get a faster PC equivalent at a lower price since I mainly edit videos (which is pretty graphically intense) from an HD DSLR camera. I've noticed premiere rendering times on my mac are starting to get pretty slow these days. Ideally it'd be nice to buy a desktop (already assembled) maybe from HP for around $600 (not including the monitor). I'm not completely against building a PC from parts (since I know a friend who can do it for me) I just need help figuring out WHAT exactly it is that I need and would benefit from.

  • Overall video lightening in Premiere CS6 when working with dark complexions

Presently working on a project in Premiere CS6 shot "live to tape" that was originally planned as "should not" need any post production work.  But out of our control and literally in the last few minutes before the show started, the lighting was changed without consulting me, and there was no time to stop the start of the production. This last minute change obviously left a very unpleasing dark effect on the video and especially the podium presenters.  Not being in our own studio in which I definitely would have control of the environment and out on the road, contributed much to this.  This is a 5 plus hour production with speakers of multiple nationalities and skin tones and complexions with the Black and Hispanic speakers having the darkest skin tones.  My question is something that I have not been able to find on any videos or even random web searches and it's very frustrating. And that is, what is the best way and how to lighten video which has people of the darker races and nationalities included in it.  These races obviously would include Black, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, Indian etc. I added an adjustment layer and tried a Luma only correction, and also a Luma combined with brightness and contrast, and the latter of the two has worked the best so far, but I'm still not totally pleased.  Thank you for any help that you can give.

Luma curve is usually pretty effective. The general curves controls can also help.
You can try adding a light effect...like, the spotlight effect. I've done this before in After Effects and had some success but never with really badly lit material.
To be honest - and not having seen your footage at this point - if the footage is badly lit, I'd feel comfortable saying that it might not even be "fixable" unfortunately. Usually when there is inadequate light in the original footage, the details are simply not there, and trying to recreate them is generally a tradeoff. You might be able to get the exposure up a bit, but you introduce a LOT of noise in the process that is probably just as distracting as a dimly lit subject.
If the detail is there and a minor tweak is all that is needed, there are many options. It also depends on your format - AVCHD, HDV and other long-GOP 4:2:0 formats are fairly terrible with these sorts of rescue operations. High-end formats are much more malleable.
EDIT - Be sure with curve operations that you remember that your subject is in the low tones - even if it RELATIVELY the lightest object in the picture. The curve levels are dictated by absolute brightness cutoffs, so making adjustments on the high end of the curve would likely solve nothing on dimly lit subjects.

  • Video Transitions in Photoshop CS6

Is it possible to add more video transitions (additional to the existing fade transitions) to Photoshop CS6?

We don't have these effects available as drag-and-drop transitions.  This could be submitted as a feature request.  There are, however, some workarounds if you don't mind going through the steps:
1.) Wipe: Add a layer mask to the video file, fill the mask with black, unlink the mask, then add Layer Mask Position keyframes to move the layer mask across the video in time (you'll have to have a second clip positioned on a separate track and overlapping in time to get the effect).  Add a small feather to the mask in the properties panel to taste (you may want to transform the mask, make sure it's unlinked first, to make it a little larger than the image area if you add feathering).
Diagonal wipes are bit trickier: Follow the same steps above but fill only half the mask with black (on a diagonal, polygon lasso can help with this) and you also need a mask that's larger than the image area so you can pan across (use free transform, make sure the mask is unlinked).
Shape Wipes: I believe this is impossible to do easily, because you would need to transform (scale) the layer mask across time, and this isn't available for layer masks (another feature request if you'd like).  Technically you could still pull this off, but you would need to synchronize several different layers/layer masks across time and modify each one so that it forms part of the star shape.  That's the only way I can think of currently, if you want something like a star wipe...
2.) Blur: There's a few different ways you could do this.  Hardest and most accurate: individually blur each frame by incremental amounts (automate for convenience with an action or script).  Different but similar effect: Copy the video, convert the copy to a smart object and place directly below the original on a separate track/video group.  Blur the smart object (applies to all frames) and then use opacity keyframes on the original (unblurred) video layer to transition between the two.
3.) Lens Flare: Same steps/suggestions as blur, except replace the blur filter with lens flare filter.

  • Missing Video Transitions

I was putting together a quick photo sideshow for my niece and was looking for some of those "cheesier" transitions such as the windmill, cross zoom and stuff like that. I noticed that I did not have very many compared to my older versions of Premiere. Currently the only folders I have are 3D motion, Dissolve, Iris, Page Peel, Slide, and wipe. I am missing some transitions right? I have the newest version and updated CS4. Thanks for the help everyone.

Hi - Just did a re-install and voilà, there they are.  thank you.

  • APP CS5 - missing Video Transitions

I have been using APP 2.0 for several years and am now beginning to use APP CS5.
I noticed that the GPU Video Transitions are no longer in CS5, which included
Card Flip and Center Peel and Page Curl and Page Roll and Sphere.  Can anyone confirm that these GPU video transitions are in fact
    not present in APP CS5?
    Thanks so much,
    Angela

I did purchase the Pixelan transitions, but still miss the GPU transitions that were in APP 2.0.
Does anyone have any recommendations of other transitions that I can aquire/purchase that are similar to the APP 2.0 GPU transitions?
Or, is there anyway to download those APP 2.0 GPU transitions into APP CS5?
    Thanks,
    Angela

  • Audio/Video Sync Adobe Premiere CS6

Just wanna make sure I've got this right.
I'm dealing with two camera angles, both with the same audio track (coming from a mixing board).  These are instructional videos, so it is key that each angle is completely in sync as they are displayed at the same time on the same screen.  Once placed in the timeline, is Premier Pro CS6 able to sync this footage up exactly? I've found its easiest to move the files around manually listening for the audio track until the delay becomes less noticeable. However, the delay is always there so its hard to get an exact match.  Is there a better way to do this? Does Premiere CC have this ability and not CS6?

There are automated ways to do this in Premiere but I have yet to make them work. I sync hours of footage manually, open up the audio tracks till you can see the waveform and move a track till the 'bumps' match.

  • Missing ADBE GPM Video Transitions in PE v7

I recently upgraded from PE v4 to PE v7. This was a new installation on a second PC. I then copied my PE v4 projects to the second PC that has PE v7 installed.
When I open any of my PE v4 projects with PE v7, I received an error message there are missing video transitions. The five missing video transitions are:
    (1) ADBE GPM PageCurlTran
    (2) ADBE GPM PageRollTran
    (3) ADBE GPM SphereTran
    (4) ADBE GPM CenterPeelTran
    (5) ADBE GPM SpiralFlipTrans
In PE v4, the 5 missing transitions were listed/grouped under the GPU Transitions category. However, in PE v7 I do not see the GPU Transitions category.
All five video transitions are shown in the PE v7 Plug-in Directory (plug-in\en_US), but for some reason they do not appear to be available in PE v7. The names listed in the plug-in directory are:
    (1) TransationGPUCenterPeel
    (2) TransitionGPUPageCurl
    (3) TransitionGPUPageRoll
    (4) TransitionGPUSphere
    (5) TransitionGPUSpiralFlip
I use these transitions often in my PE v4 projects. In one case Im trying to complete the project in PE v7, but there are over 40 times I used one of the five missing video transitions that I would have to replace.
I would like to use the GPM video transitions. Can you tell me why the transitions are listed in the plug-in directory but not available within the application? How can I get these five Adobe GPM video transitions to work in PE v7?

I don't know exactly what the file (plug-in) naming conventions are, but there are file name differences between the "missing" Transitions message, and the plug-in names.
I wonder if copying the old Transition files over would be of any use. In Pro, I had to work on a very old Project (P6.5 Mac) and two Transitions also did not migrate into CS2. I had a similar Transition in CS2 and made a copy of it outside of Pro. I then copied this same Transition (with the name in the error message) back to Pro and it worked fine. It had the right "stuff," just not the name that Pro was looking for, based on the Project file. The other had nothing even close, so I just replaced it with a Cross-dissolve. My guess is that it was either a 3rd party Transition, or something that had the name changed completely over the years. Might be worth a try. I'd keep a list of exactly what was copied over to PE7, so one could go in and clean out these Transitions, either when the job was done, or if they did not work.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS Hollywood FX Transitions will usually work in Premiere, even if they come from Pinnacle. One just has to change some file extension. Here the extensions are *probably* the same, but the names have been changed in the new version.
