Missing volume sliders

so i was working on a song, and when I opened the file up (a new one), the individual volume sliders for each track are not there anymore. to adjust the volume for anything I am forced to open the automation line. has anyone ever had this problem before? driving me insane; haven't updated anything and I just can't understand this.thanks in advance for any help or pity you can throw my way.

  • Why are all the volume sliders resetting to zero when I enable recording on my tracks?

That's basically all there is to it. I have 8 drum tracks all set at different input levels but when I record-enable the tracks all the volume sliders rest to zero in the mixer. This has never happened before!

I'm having so much trouble with the audio levels in logic pro. It seems every VST has a completely different level when the volume on the vst is set to 100. Miroslav Philharmonik is EXTREMELY quiet..., and when I load drums into ultrabeat, they immediately peak like crazy.
It's one of a the reasons mixers have volume controls.
Seriously - an orchestral instrument is likely to have hundreds of parts all playing at once. If each part was designed to hit close to 0dB, then it would be impossible to do anything as the resultant mix would be massively loud - you'd have to turn everything down all the time.
Drums are probably going to be peaking fairly loud in a mix, as they do contain a lot of the energy.
There is no standard. A mono synth will often have hotter levels than a polysynth part, as the polysynth could be playing 8-32 voices all at once. Also, different patches, and different instruments themselves will be programmed to have different volume levels.
This is all true regardless of DAWs, and is nothing specifically to do with Logic.
All all the instruments, and mixer channels have volume controls, to let you control their volume and place them where they need to be for your needs.

  • Can I use the volume sliders after adding automation to tracks?

After adding a whole bunch of automation to pretty much every track on my first real project on GarageBand, I started trying to mix, and it seems the volume sliders are all locked up on the tracks with automation. I really don't want to have to add a million more automation points just to mix the song properly, so if anyone has a solution, that would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Can I use the volume sliders after adding automation to tracks?
    no
    if anyone has a solution
you can select all the points by clicking in the header, and then drag them, though

  • Loss of audio after upgrade os x 10.7.5, reset PRAM, SMS, updated software and other recommendations i could find. Master volume sliders inactive in Audio Midi section. Can see sound bar responding it input on line in but is not being internally routed.

Recently upgrade to OS x 10.7.5 resulted in loss of what appears to be internal communication of line in audio, and output. Have tired several remedies including resetting PRAM, SMS, updating all software, multiple Sound and Audio Midi applications adjustments to no avail. Also no audio is recognized on USB mixing board I tried as well, though Audio USB Codec was displayed. THe master volume sliders and other options are greyed out on Audio Midi application whn I try to troubleshoot that. Nothing external will play through computer speakers, but internal sounds and iTunes play normally.I made sure the audio sampling rates were default. Software issue or soundcard/hardware failure.?..Pullin my hair out!

Might be corrupted sound preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following;
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Click Go then move both .plist files from the Audio folder to the Trash.
    com.apple.audioDeviceSettings.pllist
    com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Restart your Mac. See if that made a difference ...

  • Audio Volume Sliders for multiple channels of audio

I don't even know if this is possible, but I was wondering if
there was any way you can set up volume sliders to control multiple
channels of audio. For a project I'm working on I am going to have
background audio and comentary. I want the user to be able to
adjust the volume of both the background audio and the comentary.
Is there any was I can make seperate sliders for each of those
    tracks of audio?
    Thanks!

    you can not.
the only workaround i can think of would be to create a volume curve on one track, and then duplicate that track as many times as needed, and drag the regions of your other tracks into these duplicated tracks.

  • NSS4000 missing volumes and shares, but RAID ok?

We have an NSS4000 with a RAID5 array. We started a large CIFS file transfer to a windows 2003 server from a sharepoint this weekend ironiclly to back up the device and during the file scan process, we encountered communiction errors and the file transfer didn't even start. We could ping the device, but could not log into web admin or mount any shares. We pulled the power cord, put the usb boot drive in the back usb slot as usual and rebooted the device. The device booted up ok we can log into the web admin, the RAID5 array lists OK / healthy, but there are no volumes or shares.
    I found this post
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2114726
and thought it was like our case and:
    1. backed up configuration
    2. reset to factory
    3. restored configuration
    4. reset drives (when powered off)
    5. looked over the fstab config files and the seem to have the right volume and shares listed,
Above did not restore access to shares. After some addtional research, I found reference to shares going missing after improper shutdown, so we created a new volume on the healthly array with the exact same name as before and a single share with same name as before / rebooted. Not exactly sure this was the best idea since I'm not sure what creating a volume and a share might do to actual sectors on the array.
The array lists 0% used, but the 1.36 array was almost full before this issue.
    Questions:
    1. is there anything else we can try that is within the grasp of non linux experts?
    2. any recommendations for data recovery companies expereinced with recovering data from these devices?
    3. I have contacted http://www.securedatarecovery.com/ for a data recovery quote.  Has anyone used them?
    Thanks for any input.

  • OPM 2.0RC1 Missing Volume

Hey there, i just deployed the 2.0RC1 OPM in our Testenvironment. It detected the Cluster and after approx 15min he found every Node, Aggregate, SVM but with the Volumes there seems to be a Problem. At first he detected 2 out of 6 Volumes. So not all from the start. One of the deteced Volumes was a cloneed one from a snapshot so i deleted to check if he can only find 2 Volumes. After some Time there was still only the one Volume from before left. The other missing 5 are nowhere to be seen.I checked the Network Communication and the Settings from the OPM to the Cluster and there is no obstacle in the way. Not sure what causes the Problem. Maybe someone here can help.

  • Missing volume bar when adjusting volume

I have just got HP touchsmart 610, upon updating everything, notice when I adjust volume up or down there is white bar showing up on screen instead individual bars , can't find info where I can update this or perhaps driver is missing any updates for this will be appreciated..

  • Weird sound issue. Windows sound splitting into two volume sliders and headphones stop working

So I am a network admin thus I am not exactly computer illiterate.
Normally my latop has one volume slider for Speakers and Headphones, however when exiting a game or unplugging/plugging in a usb device windows will suddenly split volume into two seperate sliders for speakers and headphones, it isnt doing it right this second, but it looks like it thinks my headphones are a headset when this happens.
After this happens my headphones stop working completely and only speakers work. To get sound back to normal I have to reset the computer, after I reboot everything is fine and it goes back to one  volume slider. I am using a normal set of headphones no mic, no bluetooth.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Song volume sliders greyed out

I've just installed iTunes 9.0.2 to Windows 7, and though the install appeared to go just fine, some of the songs now have their options completely deactivated, such as their individual volume adjustment, EQ presets, and ability to make part of a gapless album. All of these options are grayed out on some songs, and for others they're still active.
I've authorized the account, made sure sound check is off, and there's no correlation between deactivated options and purchased songs, since both purchased and uploaded songs have this same problem. Is there some other option in iTunes I'm missing?

Check to see if the files are read only, or if they are in a fodler where your account does not have write access permission.

  • Did DreamWeaver CS5 fix the missing "Volumes" in local file paths for "Browse in-"?

I can't "Browse in Chrome", no matter what I do.
    I tried:
    Re-Installing Chrome. (It's a drag-drop operation. nothing to install )
Searched in Preferences for a value like the Opendiff to compare documents.
If you select "browse in Firefox" it works. I don't know whether it's Firefox fixing it's DreamWeaver sending the wrong path, but "Volumes" is there.
The problem probably only occurs in secondary partitions on the startup drive.
Apple has not replied about it but it could be Adobe's bug.
I honestly think the "Volumes" idea to access other partitions (not the startup's default) was introducint late, since other apps seem to have the same issue with non obvious operations (Compare Files Service, Apple OS)
Has it been fixed in CS5?
How can I fix it in CS4? I'd glad to hack files if I have to. Re-install is not an option, Com'on! Replace my whole teeth for one caries is not an answer. If the installer can fix it, whoever designed the installer knows what file is the corrupted one.
    Thanks.

  • Missing Volume

I searched the forums and could not find a problem quite like mine anywhere, so i decided to post this here. My computer started to give me messages saying that many of my files, like my iTunes library and a couple of my documents were damaged. I decided to try to run Disk utility, but it game me a message telling me to restart my computer(the one where it freezes with a black box). so i reset it and got the folder with the ? and the mac os symbol. after trying for hours to get it back on, with both the install disk and a backup disk that i made, i finally got it to turn on. however, the volume that i previously used would not mount and is shown as disk0s10 and is grayed out. it was my main partition on my computer and i have four; one is a backup, one is an emergency(did not work either), and one is for music files and such. I tried to recover it using Disk Utility, and i got a message saying The underlying task reported failure on exit. next i saw a forum saying I should run Tech Tool, and it also said my recovery failed. After i saw this i decided to run tests on the HDD, and it said that my S.M.A.R.T. checks failed:

Also, As of now the surface Scan has found 49 bad blocks, and has scanned 305536 out of 268435455, and at the rate it is going it will take a couple days to finish, while before when i ran it it would be 10 minutes max. All the other tests passed, and I have not made any recent changes to anything on my computer. I guess what I want to know is if there is any way to recover this partition or the files on it, or if i just lost a large portion of my HDD. I would appreciate anyone helping me out with this problem, or even just pointing me to a better place to put this forum.
    Thanks

    Dak,
When the SMART status says failing, it is time to get a new hard disk. Also, you will probably be much more likely to maintain current backups of your files on another device. That said, your best course of action is to boot your G4 from another disk, either external or internal, and then attempt to recover files using a utility such as Data Rescue II. Files or directory information written to disk blocks that apparently fail to read back properly will not be recoverable. If (this is a big if) only the directory is lost, then a utility such as Disk Warrior may be of some use.
In my opinion, purchase any brand of hard drive except Western Digital (I think the WD in your model means this). They have significantly higher failure rates than others; of course any drive can fail at any time. The reason for SMART diagnostic routines is to give the user a warning that things are failing before going completly belly-up.
    Best of luck,
    bd

  • HT204019 Missing "volume adjust" in Ringtones section of new iTunes 12.0

My iTunes is at its most updated format, 12.0.1.26 How do I increase the volume of a ringtone now?
In the past, I've made many of my own ringtones using 30-second clips of the songs. Today, when I finished making the ringtones and then imported them into my library, I couldn't find the "volume adjust" slider in the Options tab of "Get Info". It used to be there. When ringtones would first import in, they would always be a little quieter so I had to turn up the volume adjustment.
That volume slider is no longer in its usual/original place. Is it somewhere else in iTunes?

I'm having a similar issue, but cannot see anything to do with airplay in the SysPref > Sound menu.  My mac is too old to run Yosemite, so looking to find another way to get this fixed.  Any ideas?

  • Help! Wrting to Missing Volume

I have formated and Burn finished DVDSP Project. some how it wrote to a volume - an external HD (LaCie) that I renamed it to LaCie 300 so I wil know what size HD I am accessing. I have 2 LaCie and a SeaGate.
Anyway my burning process failed (bad disk?) - but looks like it wrote Temporary Video_TS and Audio_TS file to a Volume that does not exist. And that Volume is visible from DVDSP's Format and Burn dialog box as Volume/LaCie. I can't delete this temp Video_TS folder and it is occupying 4+GIG of my HD space. It is not visible via Finder nor Disk Utility, nor Spotlight or Search command. It is only visible from DVDSP's menu.
Help.. I am working on measlty 80GIG PBG4. and I need every mega bytes.
    [email protected]

I have now changed the preference to write to a drive that actually exist. I think it was a bad disk. or bad disk batch. at least 3 of the blank DVD came back with an error.
I ended up just creating a Video_TS folder and used Roxio Toast to create the CD. I am still confused with the various format of .img files.
This might be a general OS X question but where is /volumes/(disk name) Is there a temp folder that OSX writes to.

  • MISSING VOLUME SLIDER BAR SOLVED!!!

I have found the culprit! It has taken me a very long time to figure it out what it was but it has finally been found. The volume slider disappears when playing music or watching videos but otherwise works.
The problem is the 32pin connector. If you don't believe me take your phone and place a hard plastic card of some sort (creditcard, school I.D) and place it underneath the 32pin connector. Look at your volume slider and it should appear! You must get your 32pin connector replaced.

I wouldn't go as fr as getting a new iPod yet. Take it into a genius bar and see what they say. I got my old iPod nano that got sent through the wash replaced for around $50. I don't promise anything.
