Missing vpn group name and password

i have successfully installed the cisco vpn version 4.9.01 (0100) for the mac os x 10.502 operating system. However, the software did not include the Group Name or the Group Password. I believe these are provided by Cisco. Can you tell me what they should be? The company is FedEx.

I have the .pcf file onm my desktop. I have been told that I need to open the vpn client and import the file. I click on import, and it asks for the import path, which I give) , and it also asks for the import password. No one at FedEx tech support seems to know the Import password. Any Ideas?

  • VPN whit surface RT using a Group Name And Password (Secret)

    We are looking to make a conection with  Surface rt to ASA with IPSEC through Cisco.
    Whir IOS and client Cisco give us the option of Group Name and Password for the shared secret.
    Windows RT Surface have not seeing this option for  Group Name and Password
    Is there some kind of combination of username password that would go in the "Use preshared key for authentication" field (such as "username;password" or some other format)?
    We and other LARGE corporations will require this feature to implement  VPN un Surface RT, please give us a workaround or fix it ASAP.

    Hi,
    Based on my knowledge, windows RT support certificate or pre-shared key for IPsec authentication.
    Windows RT doesn't support  groupname+password.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Prompted for lpadmin group name and password when adding printer

    I was running into a prompt to enter an lpadmin group name and password whenever I tried to do any printing, so I decided to go ahead and reset my printer list. Now I'm trying to add my local printer to the list and I'm still getting the same prompt.
    I found this solution: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2754
    on the Apple website, but it's not working for me.
    Perhaps it's because I'm unfamiliar with working in Terminal, but I'm entering the text exactly as it's written on the support page
    dseditgroup -o edit -p -a(affected_username) -t user _lpadmin
    with, of course, my username substituted for the "(affected_username)" but I'm getting an error message in Terminal that says:
    syntax error near unexpected token `('
    Any suggestions or help? It would be much appreciated!

    Looking at the command again step 3 says to replace "(affected_username)". Since the parenthesis are included in the quotes try leaving them out as well.

  • Type the name and password of a user in the "(null)" group to allow this.

    To connect to wifi while in the recovery partition, I'm asked to authenticate the wlan's certificate, and in order to do that I'm asked for "the name and password of a user in the "(null)" group" to make changes to the Certificate Trust Settings. Anyone know what or which user may this be?
    I'm not able to pass from the initial apple screen when I boot, so I wanted to repair or reinstall Lion, but in order to do that I need to connet to the WLAN to download it.

    Hi, I called Apple Support this day, and the answer is that enterprise WPA wireless is NOT supported by Lion Internet Recovery.
    You can find the supported configurations and protocols on Apple site:

  • I keep getting a pop up that request the Administrators name and password.  I never set this up so I can't bypass this.  How do I change or set up the administrators name and password.

    I have OS X version 10.9.5.   I have had this for a year or two.   How do I find my Administrators name and password?  I do not recall ever setting this up.

    If you don't recall setting it up, try entering nothing into the passwordfield and just press return.
    If that worked, please go to " > System Preferences > Users & groups" and click the [change password]-button.
    If all that doesn't solve it, boot from the Recovery Partition and reset your password from there.
    Here’s how:
    1/ Make sure your computer is completely shut down.
    2/ You’ll have to be quick next: Press the Mac’s power button. As soon as you either hear the loud chime, or see the display light up - usually after a second or 2 - on your keyboard press [cmd] + [r] Keep these keys on your keyboard pressed until you either see an Apple Logo with a loading bar or a spinning gear.
    After a few minutes, you’ll be presented with a Utilities screen. This is the Recovery partition. If this step is already giving you problems, try using a USB-keyboard. It doesn’t have to be an Apple-keyboard. If you have a Windows-tailored keyboard laying around, use the “Windows-flag” key in stead of the [cmd]-key and it should also work.
    3/ Find the menu called “utilities” in the top left corner of your computer’s display. It’s in between the menus “edit” and “window” Don’t be confused with the menu called “os x utilities”
    Choose Terminal. A somewhat old-fashioned looking window will pop up, waiting for a text command from you. This is the Terminal.
    After the # type: resetpassword and press return. Note that there is no space between ‘reset’ and ‘password’
    What you’ll see next is an rectangular window that gives you the option to reset passwords. Set a new password for all the users that you need.
    We’re ready to reboot your Mac now. Click on the Apple Menu and choose “startup disk” Choose to boot from “Macintosh HD” Please let us know if this solved your issue, or if the steps above did not work, or could not be performed for some reason.

  • I need to know if there is a user name and password associated with accessing a certain website.

    I'm not sure if at one time there was a username and password given so that I automatically could access a site. The site is the home page for my department on the intranet of the company I work for, and they've activated a new vpn. If I use Safari, after activating the vpn opening Safari, it asks me for a user name and password for some proxy server and from there on out I can navegate the external web or the company intranet. Using Firefox, I do not get prompted for a user name and password but I cannot access my homepage yahoo.com or any public website; I can, however access my company's intranet. The IT guy says there must be some user name & pw to access the site that I've previously asked Firefox to memorize but which I can't see. I don't think so but I can't figure out where to find the list of sites that Firefox has memorized passwords for.

    You ca n look in the Password Manager.

  • AppleScript: Waiting for a user to enter user name and password

    I'm currently working on an AppleScript designed to automate binding a computer to Active Directory and another script to install a login certificate. While you can create a UNIX shell script for the Active Directory binding, I found that you have to have your user name and password in the script itself and this system will be deployed by multiple people.
    So instead I'm doing an GUI Automation AppleScript of Directory Utility. What I'd like to do is have the script to wait for the admin user (who will be remoting in by ARD) to enter their Network user and password, click okay and then continue the script to quit the program and then run a self-destruct (which I'd also appreciate any advice about doing in AppleScript)
    Here's the script so far, which I've set up successfully:
    activate application "Directory Utility"
    tell application "System Events"
      click text field 1 of row 1 of table 1 of scroll area 1 of group 1 of group 1 of window "Directory Utility" of application process "Directory Utility"

    It isn't a real command prompt like if you're changing System Preferences or something. It's a specialized prompt specifically for Directory Utility. However, I do need to know how to make AppleScript wait for a password for a standard Password Prompt for adding a certificate to the login keychain through Keychain Access. I've also done pretty much the same thing as above for that script.
    Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Yeah, I know GUI Scripting is not the best way, but I couldn't find a successful variable system for the following script. The other issue is that I'd prefer to send this by ARD and have ARD ask for a User Name and Password, but I've found there's no way to do that. Then again, I can't send the AppleScript purely remotely either.
    What I mean by self-destruct is simply I only want the Active Directory binding script to run once upon login to the primary admin user and then delete itself so it doesn't get run again. The login certificate script I want to run once on each new user who logs in (so I'll likely be putting it in the "User Template") and then delete itself so it doesn't run the next time they log in. I can't figure out any way to hit those buttons through a shell script.
    Here's the original UNIX shell script: (This is what I'm using temporarily until I figure out a solution that doesn't require my user name and password to be embedded)
    #! /bin/bash
    MACNAME=$(scutil --get ComputerName)
    dsconfigad -add "CORP.DOMAIN.NET" \
    -username USER \
    -password PASS \
    -computer $MACNAME \
    -mobile disable \
    -mobileconfirm disable \
    -localhome enable \
    -useuncpath enable \
    -shell /bin/bash \
    -ou OU=Macs,CN=Computers,DC=corp,DC=DOMAIN,DC=net \
    -force \
    -localpassword "PASSWORD" \
    -groups "GROUPS"
    And here is the Certificate Installation AppleScript
    activate application "Keychain Access"
    tell application "Finder" to open POSIX file "/FolderName/Certificate.crt"
    delay (3)
    tell application "System Events" to tell process "Keychain Access"
      click button "Add" of window "Add Certificates"
      click button "Always Trust" of group 3 of sheet 1 of window "Keychain Access"
    end tell
    Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. This is a rather new field for me and most of my knowledge comes from Google Searches and about a billion tabs trying to find answers.

  • Automatic login in mavericks not working. I still have to enter user name and password

    Hello,
    To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
    Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
    Does it work in the new account?

  • How to call CallbackHandler to input user name and password?

    Hello,
    I am new to CallbackHandlers. I wrote a small Swing application. I want this Swing application to display a login page so that user can enter user name and password, and then provide this to my CallbackHandler class.
    Here is what I did in my Swing main method
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            try {
                LoginContext lc = new LoginContext("Login",
                        new MyCallbackHandler());
                lc.login();
                UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
                new TestCVTApplication();
    ..Here is what I did in my CallbackHandler
    public class MyCallbackHandler implements javax.security.auth.callback.CallbackHandler {
        private String username;
        private String password;
        public MyCallbackHandler() {
        public void handle(Callback[] callbacks) throws java.io.IOException, UnsupportedCallbackException {
            for (int i = 0; i < callbacks.length; i++) {
                if(callbacks[i] instanceof NameCallback){
                    NameCallback ncb = (NameCallback)callbacks;
    ncb.setName(username);
    if(callbacks[i] instanceof PasswordCallback){
    PasswordCallback pcb = (PasswordCallback)callbacks[i];
    pcb.setPassword(password.toCharArray());
    Would you let me know what I am missing?
    Thanks,

    The code you posted never assigns values to the private username and password fields of the MyCallbackHandler class. So when its handle method is invoked it simply assigns nulls to the values in the callback objects.
    Or is there code elsewhere you did not show? Are you certain that your callback is invoked at all?

  • Type an Administrator Name and Password to allow lpadmin to make changes.

    We have a lab full of PowerPC G5 Towers running 10.5 off a PowerPC G5 tower running 10.5 Server. We are using Open Directory and AFP to allow students to login to Network Accounts from Local Workstations. After Archive and Installing two of the G5 Machines and updating them, We encountered the error "Type an Administrator Name and Password to allow lpadmin to make changes." and it freezes up and doesn't allow us to enter the password or username or even move the mouse.

    To use the solution in the link above in this case, here's one way to go about things:
    - Restart while holding down command and s at the same time to boot into single-user mode.
    - Use the following commands to mount the filesystem (these are also listed on the screen when you start up):
    $ /sbin/fsck -fy
    $ /sbin/mount -uw /
    - You're going to need the root password, so if you haven't already set one, type 'passwd', hit return, and set one.
    - Load Directory Services:
    $ launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist
    - Run the command mentioned in that other post, entering your root password when prompted:
    $ dseditgroup -o edit -p -a admin -t group _lpadmin
    - You may need to run it twice, because the first time it may say something about upgrading your groups or something like that.
    I hope that helps. It worked for me on multiple machines affected by this problem.

  • I can't log in to my computer. It won't accept any names and passwords from any accounts.

    This is my work computer, and it started 3 days ago. It won't accept the name and password of any account in the office, except for the localadmin log in. That works just fine. I have tried all the basic troubleshooting like restarting, unplugging the computer, unplugging the network cable. Doesn't help. The login screen shakes like I typed in the wrong password.
    It is connect to a network with other macs and PCs. We use Windows Small Business Server 2003, I don't know if that has anything to do with the issue.
    Today the problem also started affecting a Mac Book Pro, which is also connected to the network.
    Is there an update we are missing? What's going on?

    Are you authenticating to an Active Directory server? If so, that's where the problem is.

  • Invalid User Name and Password when logging onto BPM Workspace (v9.3.1)

    I have installed Hyperion Planning and the related/required products. When I attemp to log on to Workspace, I get the following message;
    'You must supply a valid User Name and Password to log onto the system."
    I have tried using the native 'admin' account, and an NTLM account that I have setup. Both of these accounts work for logging onto the the User Management Console and to the Essbase Administration Console, and I have provisioned both of them with full admin privileges.
    Has anyone encountered this issue?
    Thanks,
    -K

    Thank you all for the responses so far.
    On the first response, I had already provisioned an NTLM user that is a member of the local Administrators group with all administrative roles, and also refreshed security in EAS prior to submitting this inquiry, so that did not solve the problem.
    On the second, I cannot navigate to ../workspace/browse/configinfo without logging in so I am unable to review this information.
    On the third response, where do you provision the user to BI+? If I open the User Management Console, there are four root roles each with a tree underneath: APS 9.3.1 Server, Analytic Servers, Business Rules, and Hyperion Shared Services. Under each tree, I have provisioned the 'admin' user and the NTLM user for all roles, including Administrator, Dimension Editor and Application Creator under Hyperion Shared Services -> Global Roles. Should there be a BI+ tree? If so, it is not appearing on the list.
    Thanks for any additional info anyone can provide.

  • When a new site is created can a user name and password be generated for it automatically?

    I have a work request  from a manager that is asking, when a new site is created (via workflow), that a generic user name and password be created just for that site?
    If it is possible I would like for it to be created at the same time as the site be being created or do I need to wait until after the site is created and then trigger a workflow to create the generic  user  account?
    this account is only needed to do one thing.. upload documents to a folder.
    of course there can be multiple  sites being built at one time and would like for this to be auto generated....  and possible be in a  hidden list so I can include the info in a workflow email letting the receiver of the email know that
    they need to use this specific user name and password just for this site.

    Hi SPSAdminTC,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create sites and grant users permissions on the sites via workflow in SharePoint 2013.
    Users are stored in AD, before you grant site permissions to them, the name and password have existed in AD users and groups. So, you need to add the users into AD before you grant permissions to them.
    In SharePoint 2013 Designer, you can use REST API to create site and assign permissions to users. You can use Send Email action to send email to users and customize the body of the email.
    More information, please take a look at:

    I hope this helps.
