Missing Window Top Edge, etc. (LR 1.3.1)

I am using Mac OSX 10.4.6. Yesterday I downloaded LR 1.3.1.
For some reason, I do not have (or cannot find) the top edge of the window, where the red button to close the window is, and the yellow button to minimize, etc. I can also not find anything on the bottom right of the window to use for shrinking it.
If I use the menu or keyboard command to minimize the window, that works. But if I close the window (by keyboard or menu), the program quits.
Am I really missing something here??? I do not remember this being the case before the update. When I start the program, it entirely fills the screen.

Organizer window's top edge above the monitor

When I open Organizer, the window extends beyond the top of the monitor screen. This removes from my reach all of the controls that sit on the top edge of Organizer. Aside from this problem, Organizer works. I can stretch the window, but I cannot get to the top of it, so I cannot stretch it downward. Right clicking the icon that is on the bottom bar of Vista brings up the Move option but not the Restore option. Move is unable to grab any place in Organizer. I have changed the screen resolution but none of the various settings makes any difference. The folks the Adode help desk tried a few fixes but all failed, and they advised me to uninstall/reinstall Photoshop. I had the different problem two months ago, and the help desk walked me through a reinstall, which resulted in a total disaster - the tags on most of the thousands of photos got scrambled and I had to re-tag all of them. So, I am looking for an alternative. Thanks.
Editor works fine.
Organizer presents the same problem whether I open it first, or open it while in Editor.

Joe's solution works on my PSE 7. If it doesn't work on yours you could delete the Organizer's preferences:

This won't lose any of your tagging, but you will have to reset any options you've set in Edit > Preferences.

Fluxbox - windows open with titlebar off the top edge of the screen

On my EEEpc 701, in fluxbox, when i open an app, its window opens with the title bar off the top edge of the screen. I think this is probably a stupid question, but is there a way to fix this? I assume there's a setting in xorg.conf, but I can't seem to find it.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

"Lightroom" missing in top menu

"Lightroom" missing in top menu. Currently my top menu is as follows: File, Edit, Library, Photo, Metadata, View, Window, Help. As a result, I don't know how to reach my "preference" settings. New user of Lightroom 4.3. PC Windows 7 platform. What brought this to my attention was a review of some of the Adobe tutorials where some screen shots showed the top menu leading off with "Library" and some not. My question is should the top menu start off with "Lightroom" and if not, how do I access the "Preference" settings menu?

You're encountering some of the cosmetic differences between Mac OSX and Windows application menus.
Macs have the Lightroom menu option along the top. That's standard Mac OSX nomenclature.
Windows puts the menu options elsewhere.
Mac: Lightroom > Preferences
Windows: Edit > Preferences

Notebooks, AIO(all in one's), Desktops, etc, don't come with disks anymore(from any manufacturer)--not for many, many years. Some may offer you a disc at an additional charge, but even that is not often. You have the ability to make a recovery DVD so you can re-load your system as it came to you in case of a hard drive failure, but you have to make the disc or discs. Also, there is a hidden recovery partition on your hard drive in case your OS is totally messed up, but your HDD is not. Additionally, you can borrow a similar disc, home for home, pro for pro, and use your product key.
Make your recovery discs now.

I can't find the Adjustments panel window (exposure, saturation etc). it is hidden. How can I get it back?

When I select Adjust on toolbar, the Adjustments panel window (Exposure, saturation etc) does not appear - it always has before but is hidden somewhere. I can't see it on edge of screen. How can I get it back, please?

If you were able to do it on the Mini you should be able to on an iMac, they use the same versions of OS X. You just have to recall how you set it up.

Calling window.top..functionCall() from Iframe failes in Safari

I have a website, www.mantelscapes.com, that is built using an index page and an iframe. On several instances, the iframe calls a parent function. The parent function will not fire if Safari (works like a charm in IE, Google, Firefix, and Opera). The error I am receiving is:
Value undefined (result of expression window.top.setPopup) is not object.
I have also tried top.setPopup() and parent.setPopup() with the same result. I will include the call to the function as well as the function itself to see if that helps.

What I am referring to is the bar on the bottom with the items to the right of the "Search" button. Another thing is that I only want to delete certain items, not all of them. When I do Safari>Preferences>Extensions it comes up showing only one of the items on the bar on the left of the screen - one that I do not want to uninstall. I have gone to the sites of the other ones and do not see how to uninstall from there. Hope this helps to clarify my question.

It works for me. Are you sure you are hovering in the right spot? It's the dividing line between the filmstrip and the Toolbar.

Is there a similar file to windows\ssytem32\drivers\etc\hosts in OS X

I am running a Windows 2003 Server with several websites. I would like to view my websites from my new Imac, however I keep getting prompted for the user name and password for the router.
In windows on my old computer I could edit the file C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts with the IP address and URL of the site and it would open. Is there a similar file in the Mac OS X 10.5.7 software.

Adding host records by editing the /etc/hosts file is not entirely reliably. Since Leopard, some people have reported issues of the added host records "mysteriously" disappearing, or Apache not being able to properly resolve the added hosts. Late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro 15" uneven illumination alongside top edge

I have just bought the new retina MacBook Pro 15" and have experienced some uneven illumination alongside top edge of the screen. I took it to the Apple store and they offered me a replacement. I thought, sweet! However, the new machine seems to be exactly the same. Now this is not noticable when the screen doesnt move, but it becomes a little bit irritating and visible when ones moves from desktop to desktop or among fullscreen apps. You can see the illumination is not the same and as a result, two darker spots appear. Can anybody else confirm this is on other machines as well? I don't mean to be overly picky, but I think it's a bit unfortunate on a computer with this price tag. Thanks!
