Missing Windows 7 64-bit PCI Memory Controller Driver on X61

I'm sure this has already been discussed but I could not find the thread.  Does anyone have any information on why I cannot find a Windows 7 64-bit compatible PCI Memory Controller Driver for my X61 7675 CTO?
Thanks,

Evidently the PCI Memory Controller driver is not installed on my ThinkPad T500 2081-CTO OS Vista 64bit and shows up as an error when running the Lenovo System Tool Box.
Searching this forum I found one psot as follows BUT thisis for a T-200 laptop.

You need the driver for Intel Turbo Memory.  Only Windows Vista can use Turbo Memory, so we only have a Vista version for the driver:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67820
    Is this driver appropriate?
Do I need the PCI Memory Controller driver .. and if so where do I find it for my laptop?
    Thanks.

I would suggest that you forget about turbo memory. Intel quit talking about it and they have not released a driver since 2009. That is 2 years before service pack 1 was released. I ran tests and I was never able to measure any improvement with a card installed. As far as I am concerned, it is just something else to break and interfere with other components.,

  • Satellite Pro A200-1MI - Need driver for PCI memory controller

I have the Toshiba Satellite Pro A200-1MI(PSAE7E) having a problem with PCI Memory Controller on my notebook.
When I go to Device Manager it shows question mark in the tab Other Devices and when I go there, it's yellow ?(question mark) and !(exlamation mark) at PCI Memory Controller. I took and downloaded all the drivers from your site:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
for XP but I am not sure what type of drivers do I have to install for PCI Memory Controller, is it bios driver or something else? I just need to know what to install to overcome that problem with my Device Manager and PCI Memory Controller.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello akibono
I presume you have installed clean WXP on your notebook and now you want to install all drivers, tools and utilities. Am I right about that?
Anyway, after WXP installation you must install all drivers, tools and utilities in specific installations order. After doing this everything should be OK and every hardware component will be properly configured.
Please install all stuff as follow:
    WXP
    Chipset driver
    Display driver
    Sound driver
    Modem driver
    Storage manager
    LAN driver
    Touchpad driver
    WLAN driver
    Toshiba Assist
    Flash Media driver
    Webcam driver
    Hardware setup
    Controls
    And so on
I hope everything will be OK.

  • [ms-1719/gx700] - windows 7 64bit - mass storage controller driver missing

    Hi,
I have a question about finding/installing the mass storage controller driver, after a clean install of win7 sp1 64bit (home edition).
I bought a new drive (Seagate ST9500420AS), onto which I installed the OS.
I thought the OS itself was supposed to install this driver?.....I looked at Seagate's site and they say the same thing. For good measure I used the "live update 5" MSI utility to see if they could provide it for my mobo....nothing useful came up there, and also looked at their page for my laptop model (GX700) no such drivers available either....neither for XP/Vista, let alone win7 64bit.
After installing the OS I also went out to Intel's site and downloaded/installed the latest chipset drivers for my mobo/chipset as well.....that didnt fix it.
so question is, where can I find this if none of the above worked??.
    here's my detailed specs page:

    thanks,

    guys,
thanks a lot for the quick replies.
    @Stu:
I was actually wondering about those...if those micro reader drivers were what I needed...thanks for confirming and point at the x64 version. I'll put them on pretty soon, see what happens.
    @Henry,
no, I wasnt aware about that at all.....but now that you mentioned it, it makes sense, the difference between my old sata1 and the new sata2. I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to messing w/ hardware, so the question is where would I get a jumper block like that?
also if I leave it as I have for the last 2 months since I had the new HD, what could happen w/out our the jumper block?....data loss/corruption, anything like that or worse??.....just wondering if it'd be ok for me to leave it as is, or if there are any issues that can come up, for which it'd be worth for me to get the jumper and install it as you mention.
also if not having this jumper does cause any issues, I was wonder if it could cause certain blank-out crashes that I've been having, which seemed so far to be related to vidcard.....but not sure if this difference between sata1 and sata2 could actually be causing these....here is the thread for that if you have any thoughts...

  • Why did my keyboard not work after installing PCIE LAN controller driver?

    I installed the drivers on
    http://www.msi.com/support/mb/B85ME45.html#down-driver&Win7 64
in random order and was not asked to restart my computer until after Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Drivers was installed. I clicked Yes, Restart Now. However, It took the computer quite a long time to try to shutdown. I couldn't wait, so I pressed Reset button on the computer case. The computer restarted. I typed the administrator password. To my surprise, no asterisks appeared in the password box. It seemed as if my keyboard was not connect to my computer.
I had to restart and choose the Safe Mode. In the safe mode, I restored Windows 7 to the previous system restore point, in which Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Drivers had not been installed. Then everything was OK.

    The drivers http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#1
don't work either. And the result of installing it is exactly the same as before.

  • Satellite Pro P300: Need Vista 64bit 'Mass storage controller' driver

    Hi, please help.
I've just upgraded my laptop from Windows Vista 32bit to Vista 64bit.
I've managed to find all the drivers apart one: The 'Mass storage controller' driver (yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager).
I don't know where to look for this driver.
Any help would be appreciated. Al

    Hi
I assume you didnt search in forum for similar questions? Is it right?
I think Im right because I searched in the forum and found this Toshiba FAQ doc.
+No Windows XP driver for PCI Memory Controller+
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB83023N0000R01.htm
Here you can find this text passage:
After installing Windows XP there could be a yellow exclamation mark by a "PCI Memory Controller" or *"Mass Storage Controller"* in the device manager.
    _Solution:_
This device is likely the Turbo Memory former Robson module.
This hardware will only supported by Windows Vista.
Therefore there is no Windows XP driver.
Now everything should be clear ;)

  • Pci serial controller

for some reason i cannot connect to the internet.  found when i got home that i don't have a pci serial controller driver or something so it wont pick up my modem.   i guess my lil brother did something to the comp while i was gone.  anyone have any idea where i can find this driver or figure out what's wrong too?  also, that new hardware stuff popped up for pci to pci bridge controller or whatever it is popped out.   i couldnt find the driver for that either.  so i'm using the one that was on my harddrive.....viamach.inf?  also i'm at a friend's house downloading the new via 4n1 driver and hoping to see if that works....

well under device manager, it came up under unknown devices/other devices --- pci serial controller and pci communication device.  what i did was clicked update driver and select drivers from list since windows was unable to locate a driver.  I selcted HCF Modem driver and selected Rockwell Conextant HCF modem driver. it came up with a popup saying that installing this driver may or may not work since it was not made for the device(even though it was) and it worked.  i still have another problem.  when i first found this problem i just tried switching the modem to another pci slot and later on switched it back to the original.  now the computer thinks i still have it in the other slot. so now i have "two" modems even though it uses one.  i've probably already lost you in all this typing :D

Was this system setup using a clean install of XP wit SP2 or an upgrade to SP2?
I've seen a lot of problems with just doing an upgrade to SP2. Any time 1 of my customers ask me about upgrading to SP2 I tell them to get the lastest drivers for all thier hardware, back up all important files to disk, then do a clean install of XP with SP2.
If all you have is a cd for XP, there is a way to slipstream SP2 into XP and make a new cd that'll install cleanly. Then all you have to do is install all your hardware drivers.
Here's my favorite site for slistreaming SP2, http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp2_cd.htm
It shows you how to do it using Roxio or Nero with the net download of SP2. I did it with the SP2 cd that I was able to obtain from MS. All I had to do was modify the run command line.

    Hi:
Did you install the USB3 controller driver so the device you installed could work?
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=21129&lang=eng&ProdId=3467
The USB Mass Storage Device is something you have connected to the PC.
Specifically a Sony® MicroVault USB Flash Drive.
If my suggestion to let windows update find the Intel Management Engine driver, didn't work, see if this driver from Intel works.  It also has the hardware ID for that device in the setup information file.

  • Windows 7 driver for PCI Simple Controller

I installed the Lenovo Windows 7 Professional upgrade on my R400 (7443-CTO) from Windows XP Professional.  The ThinkVantage tools repeatedly shows I need a driver for the "PCI Simple Controller".  I have been unable to find that driver on the Lenovo support site.  Any assistance to help resolve this issue would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To create shortcuts or folders under the startmenu in Win7 you can rightclick "All Programs" under the startmenu. Then you can choose "Open" or "Open all users". If you choose "Open" you will be able to change the startmenu for the current user account only and when you select "Open all users" you can change the startmenu for all user accounts on the computer. The startmenu in Windows is basically just folders and shortcuts stored in a folder on your computer. The startmenu for all users are stored under "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu" and for the current user under "C:\Users\<useraccount>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu"
So let's say you want the "Thinkvantage" folder under the Windows startmenu where it should normally be after installing Lenovo toolbox and then the shortcut for Lenovo Toolbox under that folder. Then you can rightclick "All Programs" under the startmenu and select "Open all users" from the context menu. You should then see a explorer windows with the folder "Programs". If you open the "Programs" folder you will see the same contents as you see under the "startmenu -> All Programs". Since this is the area for the common startmenu for all user accounts there might be some more entries under the startmenu compared to what you see in this windows. By selecting "Open" instead of "Open all users" as explained above you should find the rest. So when you rightclicked, selected "open all users" and then doublecliked on "Programs" then you can rightclick somewhere in that window and choose "New -> Folder" from the context menu. Then you can give the folder the name "Thinkvantage". Then open the "Thinkvantage" folder and create a shortcut for Lenovo Toolbox. After you have done these steps you should find the Thinkvantage folder under "All Programs" and then the shortcut for Lenovo Toolbox under the Thinkvantage folder. This is how you can easily change the startmenu in Windows to add, remove or change entries under "All Programs".
Normally after installing Lenovo Toolbox it should be under "All Programs -> Thinkvantage" and not sure why that is not the case for you, but then you can add it manually like explained above. When i installed Lenovo Toolbox a shortcut and the Thinkvatage folder was created under "All Programs" during the installation. Also if you install the "System interface driver" and "Hotkey feature set" you can start Lenovo Toolbox by pressing the blue thinkvantage button on your computer. Unless you already installed "System Update 4.0" i would recommend to do so. System Update will find the drivers and software from Lenovo for your computer and give you a list where you can select those you want to download and install. System update will then download and install the drivers and software you selected and you don't have to download and install each one of them manually one by one. It will save you a lot of time. You can find system update for Windows 7 using the link below.
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73695
User Access Control is a new feature of Windows that started with Windows Vista so therefore you won't find it in XP. Only Vista and Windows 7 got UAC.
Yes it's a bit late over here I'm sure i will enjoy the weekend and hope you will do the same.

    Hi:
    You need these drivers...
    SMBus Controller:
Download, unzip and manually install the smbus controller driver I attached under Attachments below.
Go to the device manager and click on the smbus controller needing drivers.  Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that you unzipped.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.  Then reboot.
USB3:   Install both of these and reboot.
