MissingSiteDefinition

Hi,
After migration from Moss2007 to SP2010 i am getting the below error "MissingSiteDefinition".
In Moss2007 we had custom site definition created but today we don't want to use it. Please suggest me some ways to fix it on SP2010 itself and if i can change the template to OOB sharePoint teamsite
or Blank site. Appreciate your help in to this.

Hi Hitesh,
You can use SP2010 Upgrade analyzer in SP 2007 environment, more information, please refer to the article:

    Hi,
Seems that you have some MOSS 2007 history there, or you didn't uninstalled the features/solutions properly.
As a start - you can still upgrade to SP1 with these errors, they won't block your upgrade, but it's still a good idea to clean it up.
    You can do two things:
    1. Install the missing features/solutions if you have the installation package or files
    2. Remove the missing definitions from the farm - especially if you are not planning to use them.
I see that the missing files are involved with the Project Server and KnowledgeBase module. You need to verify where are located the webparts that wants to access the missing files and simply remove these webpart definitions from the sites.
For missing site templates, you need to add that templates and I don't know the other way (like replacing/removing template definitions).
You can check my post about missing features and powershell that helps find them in the content databases - you can rebuild this script to find where are your missing site definitions and other dependencies: http://net-pro.net/2011/sharepoint-server/powershell-script-to-find-missing-features/
Let me know if you succeed or have more questions

  • Migrating SP 2007 site which is using the template Project Workspace (Id 6215) to SP 2013

    Hi,
We have our SharePoint 2007 with project server installed on it. It is only one server having all of the components including SQL server and SP 2007. We are planning to migrate one of the site which is using the
Project Workspace Template(Id 6215)  to the SP 2013 environment using Database
    Attach Method.
    Questions:
    1) Is there any workaround available we can migrate the site to SP 2013 without
    installing project server?
    2) If there is no other workaround, we may need the justification or supports articles to share with our management.
Looking forward to hearing from you guys.
    Regards,
    Zulfiqar

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when you tested the database.
I recommend to check if the site template exists in the folder located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\1033\XML.
If yes, then restart the SharePoint machine and run the PowerShell command Test-SPContentDatabase again.
If not, please re-install the template to see if the issue still occurs.
If the sites with issue are no longer needed, then you can delete the sites with issue. Or you can
rename the site template with a standard template id.
